The Morning Rant

"RESPEC' MAH AUTHORITAH!"

This photo pastiche has been making the rounds:

meme 20210823 00.jpg

I thought, maybe this isn't fair. I'm not familiar with military culture, but perhaps there is a time to wear your medals and a time not to. Like when you're in a combat situation. I also remember when the Democrats tried to gin up anothe hair-on-fire fake "Melania destroyed the Rose Garden OMG!" by showing too photographs taken at different times of the year to make it look like Michelle had everything growing beautifully but then Melania ripped everything out and replaced it all with nothing.

So I Googled up a bunch of pics of Eisenhower in dress uniform and did the same for Milley. See the difference? This one here is Eisenhower is wearing the most medals I could find and it's about half of what I can see in pretty much every photo of Milley. Has there been some sort of "medal inflation" over the years where it takes less achievement to earn one?

Eisenhower had a crap ton more awards and medals than Milley and could have festooned his entire torso with them. Which of course would look ridiculous. And also, Eisenhower was probably a more modest man. Which brings me to my point.

Progressives are at the 'demand respect' phase of the Burge Sequence of their penetration of the military, and hoo boy, they do like their frippery. All those medals and ribbons and ranks and awards. They just can't enough of 'em.

And didn't Lt. Col. Sta-Puft show up at the Russian Collusion Hoax hearings wearing enough bling to make a 3rd-world dictator jealous? Why yes, I believe he did.

It's like that elsewhere, too. I remember when former Senator Barbara Boxer upbraided a general at some committee hearing for not addressing her as 'Senator'. "I worked so hard to get that title" she lectured him. Which is kind of weird because Glenn Beck came up with an archival video clip of her repeatedly being addressed as 'ma'am' by another military guy and she didn't object at all. So apparently, the outrage is selective. Or, fake.

Academia is another area where the progs throw fits. "It's *doctor* Jill Biden" they keep insisting. But she got her Ph.D. in, what, education? Community service? And their strutting her around like she's some Nobel Prize winning brain surgeon.

And if there's somebody on social media complaining about not being called 'Doctor' or whatever her correct title is, it's usually someone with (a) a blue check, (b) pronouns in the bio and (c) prog slogans also in the bio. The complainer is usually female, too, but not always.

And they use their academic leverage to try to muscle their way into the high-status STEM fields. They could do this easily enough by simply enrolling as a major in one of the STEM disciplines and passing the required coursework. But they're too lazy or not smart enough to do this. Instead of doing the actual hard work, they've come up with a new acronym, STEAM, where the 'A' stands for 'Arts' so they can claim that a degree in Lesbian Feminist Yakut Poetry and Dance is just as rigorous as one in chemical engineering.

The way I see it, if you need to ask for respect, you probably haven't earned respect. You shouldn't have to ask. Your work, or your character, or your demeanor should speak for itself. And the people I respect most do not make a big deal about rank or title. I've known highly accomplished Ph.D's who don't give a rip about being called "Doctor."

Speaking of which:

[Jill] Biden later returned to school for her doctoral degree, studying under her birth name, Jill Jacobs. In January 2007, at age 55, she received a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in educational leadership from the University of Delaware under the direction of professor Barbara Curry. Her dissertation, Student Retention at the Community College: Meeting Students' Needs, was published under the name Jill Jacobs-Biden.

So, not a Ph.D, then, just an Ed.D. Which is not as rigorous. Also "educational leadership". You can get a degree in that?

Here's an interview I would like to see:

Interviewer: So, Mrs. Biden...
Jill Biden: Excuse me, it's Doctor Biden.
Interviewer: You're a doctor?
Jill Biden: Yes.
Interviewer: I didn't know that. Where did you go to medical school.
Jill Biden: I didn't go to medical school.
Interviewer: You didn't?
Jill Biden: I'm not an M.D.
Interviewer: Oh. Then what are you a doctor of?
Jill Biden: Educational leadership.
Interviewer: What?
Jill Biden: I said, educational leadership.
Interviewer: (stifled laughter)

Friday Who Dis: If I told you that the birth name of our Friday Who Dis, Laya Raki, was Brunhilde Marie Jörns, you would probably say "oh, pshaw, OM, we know you're just funnin' with us." But it's true! She was born in Germany of mixed parentage. Her father was German and her mother, who left her after only 5 years, was Javanese, from whom she inherited her exotic looks. She started out as a dancer (of the 'exotic' kind), before she got into acting. She starred with Spangler Arlington Brugh, AKA Robert Taylor in the 1955 medieval action/adventure film The Adventures of Quentin Durward. With a name like Spangler Arlington Brugh, he sounds like some rich guy. I'll bet he got made fun of a lot in school. His imdb bio mentions his role as a "friendly witness" before HUAC in 1947, and then:

He held rigid right-wing political beliefs that he refused to question and, when confronted with an opposing viewpoint, would simply reject it outright. He rarely, if ever, felt the need to be introspective.

I've never seen anything like this in any actor's bio on imdb before this. No source is given, so I guess we're supposed to just accept it on faith.

46 The decorations and insisting on titles (like nobility!) are related to the overall theme, I think.

Systems on the brink of collapse have serious problems. The problems are so serious that it is daunting to even contemplate them - let along try to fix them, because fixing them will extremely painful. It is pretty normal for people in that situation to get caught up in minutiae and ceremony as a distraction from the real problems that are too severe to contemplate.

This looks like that. We give each other medals and address each other with puffed-up titles while we titter on worrying about sub-species of owls and virtue-signalling about pronouns while the world burns and we slide closer to disaster. This is the state of our government and ruling class.

If he wins, he'll be unable to get anything done through legislation. He'll be fought every step of the way by the bureaucracy. The courts will hobble him anywhere he can.

He'll need to be as aggressive as possible in theaters he can control. He simply needs to fire as many people as he can in the state government. It's really the only thing he could do that might stick for more than a few weeks after he's out of office.

76 When I was 10/11 I was riding my bike sans shirt. No helmet or wrist pads or any of the other modern bullshit of course. I took a nasty tumble on an asphalt street. My entire stomach, chest, knees, elbows you name it was scraped and bloody, with little pieces of asphalt stick on me. I biked back home, my mom saw me and was like WTF happened, go wash yourself off, lol.

If my wife saw one of my kids like that today, she would rush them to the ER.

Ahh good times those were, good times.

87 Yeah. There has been (at least when I was in) a bit of award inflation.

For the Vietnam conflict, SVN gave out 2 medals for all enlisted (and officers?) who were present or had done a tour.

Then there was the alive in 65 medal for just being in the service during a certain time frame. I understand they've done that again since tho I don't know what the dates are.

And I'm sure previous and since that time there's been some action awards for being a part of them. The thing to do is look at the top most row starting at their right and see what those awards are.

And I'll give him this; he has a CIB and jump wings so he was once a soldier. After a certain grade an officer in any of the services becomes a more political position.

92 I understand a soldier is only required to wear personal awards and medals.
Most Of Milley's medals are unit citations, showed up for formation and went somewhere for 48 hours.
Some of them are personal awards.
The more medals they wear the more like Soviet Generals they appear.
After you have been in service for a long time the more you are able to get medals and badges along with ribbons because the awards are slow to come.
A short timer gets what is awarded for the two, three, or four years they are in and after they would have to go look for any awards they earned after they got out.

220 This is my biggest fear; being told I can't see a Doctor for my regular visits cause I'm not vaccinated.

See the way they work it is every 6 months or so you have to see any prescribing Dr. so they can make sure the drugs aren't doing more damage etc. That's reasonable. But without a visit they won't supply a new prescription for the meds you need. So now their refusal makes it a life or death matter. Mine.

That's if they do that. And it's the Federal Gov't that sets the standards of care for Medicare patients and it's Health Care orgs that certify a practice for licensing. So if their rules change then so will the Drs.

This is a bad situation to be in. Particularly as the evidence of problems with the Vax are becoming more and more obvious and more and more Doctors are being vocal about it but you won't see them on TV or even talked about.

364 Jill Biden doesn't have a Ph.D.

She has an Ed.D. -- a doctorate in education. It's a totally bullshit degree made up by schools of education so that teachers could say they hold advanced degrees and therefore qualify for more pay. (Teachers are paid more if they have a master's degree than a bachelor's, more if they have a doctorate than a master's, etc.)

The Ed.D. is a joke. It does not require a publishable dissertation, just a paper, and doesn't have to be defended like a Ph.D. dissertation does. And the paper that Jill wrote was on the level of a 7th-grader (and not a particularly bright one at that). Jill's doctoral paper was riddled with errors, and it was about the trials and tribulations of community college students. She had a pool of TWO whole CC students from which she drew her research. Just imagine what brilliant insights could be gained from such extensive, wide-ranging research!

It's hard to say who should be more embarrassed by "Ed.D." degrees -- the people who hold them, or the institutions who issued them. (BTW, this is the same degree that "Dr." Bill Cosby holds).

388 Sinema: I simply won't back a $3.5T spending bill

My concern is that this leaves lots of wiggle room. Is a $3.2T bill okay? If she says "every dollar spent must have a corresponding cut in another part of the budget", then I'll be impressed.

396 Has there been some sort of "medal inflation" over the years where it takes less achievement to earn one?

Yes. I've got a ton of 'attendance' medals. Went to Iraq when they made me? Medal. Went to Afghanistan when they made me? Medal. Didn't get caught doing anything really bad for a few years? Medal.

My dad's dad (who saw aerial combat in WWII, Korea, and 'Nam) had something like 12 medals when his 32-year career was said and done. Among them were things like the Distinguished Flying Cross and some twenty-five Air Medals.

I have approximately two decorations that matter to me (Air Medal with 'V', and my CAR). I also have like 15 bullshit medals. Medal inflation is definitely a thing.

415 What the narrative manufacturers do not seem to understand is that this story is not "going away". You can't "change the subject" on being weak. You can only work at becoming strong. When the Taliban starts publicly brutalizing their hostages, the Biden Cabal will need to find a way to fight back. When China starts a hot war in the South China Sea, the Indian frontier or the Taiwan Straits, thinking Biden is weak, America will have to pay that price.

Spin does not fix this. Do they somehow not understand this fact?

Fishflexfishmox.com is a good example. You can also just ebay from a legit supplier (Thomas Labs); the good sellers list expiration date and include images of the contents so you can look at the color/alphanumerics and see who made it.

443 People don't understand how FDA "approval" is obtained. They have a panel that reviews the data that the pharmaceutical company submits. They don't do any independent testing. The drug company may use an outside clinic to obtain that data, but it still gets paid by the DRUG company. It's the drug company's data and sometimes that data is cherry picked. I was listening to two women who were part of the clinical test for two of the mRNA "vaccines" who both had severe reactions. AstraZenica and Pfizer were the companies. The women both said after they reported adverse reaction requiring hospitalization, they were both taken out of their respective studies. If we still had an investigative press in this country...

449 You can tell a lot about the career of a servicemember by reviewing the ribbon rack. In the Air Force, there seems to have been a proflagration of decorations based on job description, including one for admin types.

It started during the '70's with the Command patches on the right breast pocket on the fatigues (during the late '80's, a Command badge was created for the dress uniform). Since I was a firefighter, we wore our Fire Protection badge/patch on the right breast pocket. We also had a patch for Prime BEEF (Base Engineer Emergency Force - Air Force version of Seabees).

I could go on and on. Like everything else, shiny, pretty decorations are added mostly to increase rack size during 'peacetime' operations.
