Instead of merely reacting to events or relying on outdated info, the Pentagon could take proactive steps like deploying forces or ramping up defenses. It could also provide an "opportunity" for the civilian government, VanHerck added. He didn't provide examples, but this could help politicians call out acts of aggression while they're still in the early stages.

Unimpressive and underwhelming. Either the reporter is so unfamiliar with policing and national defense he/she could be spun by boilerplate BS, or they are repackaging stuff they've been doing for years as 'cutting edge' for political reasons (hint: let's catch insurectionists before they actually commit any crimes, i.e. arrest political foes for non/pre-crimes and pretend it's tech wizadry, not tyranny).

The double standard is already there. There is a long list of advantages that an illegal immigrant has over a citizen. VDH talked about how he needs an engineer's stamp to put a light above his shed in the back of his lot, while his neighbor down the street makes a hobby of stealing porta-potties.

You can say that the answer is to find an accurate litmus for the equal application of the law. It might just be easier to win the culture war, because then we can shame the fuckery.
