The other funny thing about dogs and time is they have a pretty firm grasp on the state of their environment and how it changes over time. I'm talking about the level you need to play Kim's game from Kippling's book if you've read that or Boyscouts of old would know what I'm talking about.
One time my wife bought a door-holder-opener, not a doorstop, but a big stuffed bunny doll with the bunny-bottom filled with sand. So the dog came prancing through this doorway and took a spit-take at the bunny doll and almost tripped. She came back and gave it a good sniffing. Posted by: banana Dream at August 04, 2021 *** I dunno about cats' appreciation of time, but they are certainly alert to any change in their environment. Whenever something or someone new comes into their homes, cats are immediately aware of it and investigate. Marie-Antoinette the smart black cat, for instance, regarded anything new as something new to manipulate or turn to her advantage (a new human was "Someone else to worship me!"). Even a cat who is not terribly bright in most departments will be aware of a change and will react to it, either checking it out or running from it. I like the tones in this work. They're nice, neutral browns and tans. Even the gold in the watch chain is washed out to blend in. The brushwork is soft and sketchy. The work has a cozy charm to it.
The silver in the watch and key is the only thing that's out of place really. Silver is a cool gray, where the overall painting is warm. It's good that the silver is limited to small forms. It keeps the objects from looking "odd." Posted by: Kris at August 04, 2021 09:00 AM (OyyDO) 109

That artist painted a lot of animals. This is what he said about painting animals in an interview which he gave:
I have always been a great lover of dogs but I have worked at them so much that I've grown tired of having them about me. However, you can never paint a dog unless you are fond of it. I never work from a dog without the assistance of a man who is well acquainted with animals ... Collies, I think, are the most restless dogs ...greyhounds are also very restless, and so are fox terriers ... The only way to paint wild animals is to gradually accumulate a large number of studies and a great knowledge of the animal itself, before you can paint its picture ... I paint from dead animals as well as from live ones. I have had the body of a fine lioness in my studio ... I have done a great deal of work in the dissecting rooms at the Zoological Gardens from time to time.[3] Posted by: FenelonSpoke at August 04, 2021 09:02 AM (k39e/) 113

WHY is no one calling out the jackass politicians for ignoring the protection previous infection with the 'vid gives people? The only person I see doing it is Instapundit. He links a study with this quote today: One finding of this study is that there appears to be a hierarchy in infectiousness of SARS-CoV-2 infections, where primary infections in unvaccinated persons are most infectious, followed by BNT162b2 breakthrough infections, mRNA-1273 breakthrough infections, and finally reinfections in unvaccinated persons. Strikingly, this hierarchy is the mirror image of the hierarchy observed in the efficacy against acquisition of infection. In our earlier studies on these national cohorts in Qatar, we found that those vaccinated with BNT162b2 had (relatively) the lowest protection against acquisition of infection (at 75% against the B.1.351 (Beta) variant4,11 that dominated incidence since the onset of vaccination19,20), while protection against acquisition of infection was considerably higher among those vaccinated with mRNA-12735 and those with prior infection. I'm the least likely to get or spread this, and they still act like I need the jab. Posted by: Catherine at August 04, 2021 09:02 AM (vdTIg) 116

The claws look silver. Speaking of cats, I have a question for people handier than I and familiar with glass.
My office is an addition and the door between the addition and the main house is a former exterior door and it is made of glass (as is the stationary panel next to it). The addition has its own A/C and it has to work a lot harder if I leave that door open, since it's a PTAC and is about a yard from the door and the addition and main house systems invariably are not in sync. The problem is that the cat likes to come and go and I end up having to open and close the door quite often. I could leave it locked out while I am in there, of course, but I like having it around. Is it possible to cut a chunk out of a double-pane exterior window to install a cat flap? Posted by: Joe Mannix (Not a cop!) at August 04, 2021 09:04 AM (3p5uk) 127

I expect he wasn't one of the people who belonged to BLM and endorses communism and the end of the nuclear family.

Look at the nature of the accusations. A bunch of political-type chicks (who are all whores and will bang or accept harassment from anyone, man or woman, as long as it gets them ahead) said he made passes at them, and groped them. That's IT. A prominent Dem politician could rape the Pope on Sunday morning, in the nave of St. Peter's Basilica, and nobody in the media or Uniparty or the Vatican would say an unkind word about the little peccadillo. The fact that these women came forward at all, let alone the fact that their flimsy sob-stories about a made man like Cuomo got traction, means this was a Party-sanctioned hit from the word "go." Double pane you cannot. In-between the double pane is a square tubing filled with silica that absorbs moisture. The double pane is "glued" with butyl to make it one unit. If it is a slider, with a stationary panel, it is most likely tempered. In the event you come home drunk and fall and try to brace yourself it will shatter into billion of pieces. Likewise, trying to cut it will also cause it to shatter. Even if it didn't shatter, the "sealed" (formerly) would cause air to come in and you would end up with "fogged" windows. @brianstelter Chris Cuomo didn't say anything about his brother on CNN Tuesday night, but anyone listening to his daily radio show on SiriusXM has heard his feelings in recent weeks. He had been steeling himself for the AG report... Overall, I'd say, he sounded realistic about life as a member of his famous political family. - I think we can all agree that CNN is above reproach. At least six ships off the coast of the United

Is it possible to cut a chunk out of a double-pane exterior window to install a cat flap?
Posted by: Joe Mannix ----- I've done a fair amount of glass cutting. What you describe is not impossible, but it's pretty hard because glass cutting will generally follow straight lines. You could put a 90 degree angle in it, but once you start the "break" that break is will most likely go straight. There are glass drill bits and glass wheels that would work like a router. You could probably do a cut like that, but then you won't have an exact fit. Perhaps that's preferable, not sure. Instead of cutting "cutting a chunk out" you could cut it straight across horizontally into lower and upper halves. Thus the cuts would be straight and the entire length of the cut could be your hinge Posted by: 496 at August 04, 2021 09:53 AM (VJsqe) 345

For the pet-flap, forget the door. Double paned tempered glass, you might cut it with a diamond wheel, but once you break the seal, it's foggy window time.
Instead, have a new panel of glass fabricated for the "sidelight" next to the door. Make it about 14" shorter than the one in there now. Install it with the top at the same height, and then install a pet-flap under the new glass panel in the bottom of of the sidelight opening. I don't know why it didn't occur to me before, given that it was just as evident - the left isn't just in a panic to get people jabbed prior to an arbitrary point in time in order to facilitate some general plot.
They're in a hurry because they want to get people jabbed prior to the availability of conventional vaccines slated to come on line in the fall. The giveaway was the obsessive mention of mRNA specifically in recent CDC materials. Tinfoil hat or not, it's now public knowledge that contracts related to developing the mRNA vaccines started as early as Dec 2019, and involved people that we now know were in on funding the WIV research and later worked to cover it up. It's not a stretch to think that perhaps those in a position to know how the virus was engineered were also in a position to direct which element was used for the jab. That would make the space on the other side dark. I can see all the way across through windows, and that's nice. I may just keep bounding up and down. It isn't exactly a great inconvenience.
Posted by: Joe Mannix (Not a cop!) at August 04, 2021 09:10 AM (3p5uk) Take the door to a glass shop. Have them remove the double pane, or sealed unit, as the case may be. Replace it with a single pane, since it's now an interior door, but use a shorter piece to leave about 15" of plywood at the bottom to install the cat flap. If the glass removed is not a sealed unit, it could be cut shorter. Cutting a square hole in glass would be tough. Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at August 04, 2021 10:21 AM (fw7wL) 454

I've heard of Argon being in windows as well. Just don't know if there's some weird EPA laws about releasing it by cutting the pane.
Posted by: Sponge - Saying Ashli Babbitt at August 04, 2021 09:15 AM (Zz0t1) Argon is an inert gas, and we get it by distilling liquid air. So no harm in releasing it again. The only way argon could harm you is if it almost completely displaced the oxygen in a confined space. Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at August 04, 2021 10:25 AM (fw7wL) 459
