The Saturday Night Joke

A Bitcoin trader walks into a bar

He walks up to the bar, orders a whiskey, pays the bartender one bitcoin and says, "By this time tomorrow it might be worth a million bucks!"

The bartender pours him a glass of water and says, "By this time tomorrow it might be Scotch." (H/T "Clutch")

The age old Love/Hate Relationship, Just add motor vehicle.

WILD surveillance footage captured the moment a woman tried to run over a man multiple times in the middle of the street during a violent bust-up.

The man and woman, who were reported to be a couple on social media, were seen arguing in the middle of a residential street in Baltimore, Maryland on Thursday afternoon.

Saturday night is supposed to be fun. But...............

OK Californians I get it. Family. Weather/climate. Jobs. But what will it take you to move? Homeless encampments, confiscatory tax rates, BACON?

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Thanks to a reworked menu and long hours, Jeannie Kim managed to keep her San Francisco restaurant alive during the coronavirus pandemic.

That makes it all the more frustrating that she fears her breakfast-focused diner could be ruined within months by new rules that could make one of her top menu items — bacon — hard to get in California.

“Our number one seller is bacon, eggs and hash browns,” said Kim, who for 15 years has run SAMS American Eatery on the city’s busy Market Street. “It could be devastating for us.”

At the beginning of next year, California will begin enforcing an animal welfare proposition approved overwhelmingly by voters in 2018 that requires more space for breeding pigs, egg-laying chickens and veal calves. National veal and egg producers are optimistic they can meet the new standards, but only 4% of hog operations now comply with the new rules. Unless the courts intervene or the state temporarily allows non-compliant meat to be sold in the state, California will lose almost all of its pork supply, much of which comes from Iowa, and pork producers will face higher costs to regain a key market.

Valu-Rite vs. Costco, Let the debate begin.

It’s no secret that robots make the best pizza at Costco, and that the robot revolution will start when the pizza androids finally decide to revolt. But there's one secret the retailer doesn’t want you to know: which companies are making all of its deliciously affordable Kirkland booze? If you’ve ever shopped for inexpensive gin, vodka, tequila, or other spirits at Costco, you’ve probably wondered the same thing.

You could search this free Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau database to find out which importer/producer the booze is sourced from, but it’s complicated, just like that Meryl Streep and Alec Baldwin movie. Many brands have multiple distilleries, and can make private label booze. While we can't definitively say what the answers are, we wanted to give you two educated opinions: the general internet consensus and the thoughts of Stuart Jensen, a longtime bartender extraordinaire and co-owner of Denver’s Curio B

Hmmmmm. The case for not killing spiders in your home.

Even though spiders are creepy crawlers that you probably despise, killing them could actually do your house more harm than good. Here's why.

Besides having long legs and a creepy demeanor, most people are scared of spiders for one specific reason: Their bite. If you’re not sure the type of spider, there’s always a chance that the spider could be venomous. However, it has been proven that only about 10 percent of spider bites lead to necrotic skin lesions. These types of bites actually don’t come from the innocent brown spiders that make a home within your home. In fact, it’s actually quite difficult for a spider like that to bite you.

Quite the prankster(s).

Snorkeler Finds Fake Skeletons Underwater Sitting In Lawn Chairs

When it comes to snorkeling, I just have to pass on this experience. I’m not a huge fan of water, and I’m even less of a fan of being in the water in a tight, confined space swimming towards the unknown. Recently a person was snorkeling in Parker, Arizona and they went for a dive near the Cienega Springs boat ramp which is on the Colorado River. Their dive was cut short when they made a startling and gruesome discovery. Because the discovery scared them so much, they ended up calling the La Paz County Sheriff’s Department to investigate rather than looking into it on their own. The snorkeler ended up finding two skeletons who were both seated in lawn chairs. Was this a prank or a grave discovery of two people who suffered an untimely death?

When the La Paz Sheriff’s Department arrived at the scene, they ended up dispatching a diver from Buckskin Fire Department to investigate further.

About that diagnosis? Genius Award Winners.

A CANADIAN woman's charred remains were thrown away by firefighters who mistook what was left of her body as a mannequin.

The Quebec coroner's office is now investigating the grizzly discovery, following a miscommunication between local police who were told of a missing person, and firefighters, who were called to put out a fire at a clothing factory.

44 Starting to read through these articles about what's going on in the housing market.

I might be late to the game, but I wasn't aware that these massive investment firms like BlackRock were buying every house they can on states all over the country.

All these bidding wars and houses flying off the market aren't, apparently, because people are moving in droves to your state.

Billions of dollars is coming from these firms to buy up all the homes they can get to then in turn rent them at higher profits.

The overarching reason seems to be The Great Reset, where they basically make ownership a thing of the past and 'they' control housing, amongst other things.

Scary shit. Articles all over the place about Wall Street firms outbidding normal people for houses for these REITs.

Well, that sucks. Around here the lots that are for sale are pretty much stuff nobody built on in 20+ year established neighborhoods. Hopefully too small to get the locust's attention.

If it's so very important to them they should have extracted what they want long ago. If they still want it, I would tell them they can move it to storage by such-and-such date to sort through on *their* time, or it will be sent to the dump. Honestly, at least up until the 90's Mao's geopolitical impact outside of China was somewhat minimal compared to the other two (unless you count Korea and Vietnam.) At least so far.

The hard thing about judging historical figures is that their impact can have massive consequences LONG after they are dead and gone. Diocletian was trying to stabilize the Roman Empire. In the short term he succeeded but in the long and even near long term he failed. However, the system of serfdom was essentially established on his watch and that had MASSIVE consequences for the next 1000 years and more. Totalitarian asshat fucking rat bastard.

262 I'd go with Hitler for most significant. His war, while insane in concept and doomed in implementation, dragged the rest of the world out of an economic torpor that could well have become a second Dark Age. And a lot of former British colonies, notably India, owe their independence to the UK being thoroughly spent.

Aside from his portion of WWII and the early stages of the Cold War, Stalin's only real macroscale contribution to history was in making the previous iteration of authoritarian social collectivism stick around for longer than it otherwise would.

They can't lawfully require Iowa pork producers to do that, nor more importantly prohibit Iowa pork products from being sold in their state. They want to cut their own throat, fine, that's their business.

I recognize the laws don't mean fuck all anymore, but pay attention and watch what the courts do, or don't do.

However, it has been proven that only about 10 percent of spider bites lead to necrotic skin lesions.

not really, the revolutions in Europe in 1848 were started by nationalistic Italians protesting against Austrian rule, but the real push came in France against the Bourbons.

Europe was under the order established by Clemmens von Metternich the foreign secretary of the Austrian empire who managed some how to direct the recreation of European order from the disorder of the Napoleonic wars
Paris revolted, the National Guard agreed and it was done.
France usually starts out second, and fights to stay there, but they do fight.

1. We took one day for my siblings to come up and take the items they wanted. Each of us made a list ahead of time and it went well. Everyone was nice and cooperative.
2. Hired someone to do an estate sale.
3. Estate sale guy gave us the name of a person whose business was to go into a house and remove everything that was left, decent stuff and junk. He paid us a small amount of money for what was left after the estate sale.
House was emptied with minimal work on my part.

Yes. Another regular on Denninger's forum lives in NYC and said he has some friends in the sanitation dept, the garbage people, and he said they are very resistant to the vax, and are refusing in large percentages. He said they sent some health official type out to the "garages" (what they call their staging areas, IIRC) to "address their concerns".

The official basically addressed them all as children, assuming their "concerns" would be like some child afraid of an "ouchie". You see, children, the vaccine is good for you, it tells your body how to fight the BAAAD virus.

The official got peppered with all the concerns and questions we all have -- leaky vaccines, falling efficacy, ADE/OAS/, etc, etc plus the spike protein problems. Official had no answers.

313 LIVE from the Clinger Studios in rural East Tennessee, it's time to play America's favorite game show BARTENDING WITH BITTER!!!

Lets welcome our host, the man who puts the cock in cocktail Bitter Clinger!!!!

**Audience Applause**

Thank you Jack Pardee! Great to be here tonight.

Tonight's trivia game is "Guess the Demographic". The liquor lineup consisted of Martell, Courvoisier, Remy Martin, Hennessy, Apple Ciroc Vodka and Peach Ciroc Vodka.

Can you guess the party demographic?

Posted by: Bitter Clinger at July 31, 2021 10:41 PM (YA914)

314 In families that are "food insecure", whatever that means, I always wonder if Mom isn't using her ebt grocery money to feed her boyfriend or other adults.
Posted by: nerdygirl

I remember seeing a study that said 60% of welfare recipients admit (meaning the real number is much higher) to being daily marijuana users. So they can't afford rent, so they get section 8 housing. They can't afford food so they get $500 per month per child of food stamps, plus free school breakfast/lunch/weekend snacks (even during the summer). Yet they can afford to buy recreational drugs for daily use.

315 I'm a softie. I don't mind killing per se, on some basis, but I don't like critters suffering, not even bugs needlessly. So Spiders and bugs are relocated from living areas, into the garage. They eat other bugs, and are interesting critters.

One weird thing, not sure if it's just coincidence,I seem to have discovered if I tune my guitar just so at a certain pitch A=432hz or especially alternate tunings like DADGAD, it's like a Spider attractor. Like how kitties run to sound of an electric can opener? Kind of like that. I'll be getting into learning some tune, or noodling around, you know ... and then look up at the ceiling - I've got a spectator!! So at least somebody appreciates my playing. This has happened a few times, so I dunno, maybe just nothing.

More on the garbage men. He says their unions are useless on this, and will likely go along with any mandates. The workers are doing this on their own with no union support.

And he said that more than a few have told their superiors that if any mandate for vaccinations comes down, or some attempt to force some onerous testing and masking in the unvaccinated, they are going to walk off the job and let the garbage start piling up.

I hope there's enough numbers to do that on a large scale.

Sanitation departments are famously unionized--this could get interesting.

Anyway, I'm basically in that group as well: I have no moral or political objection to the concept of vaccines, but I have no desire to shoot up some experimental substance of unknown efficacy and unknown side effects just because some health-department bureaucrat who's spent the past 18 months lying about EVERY OTHER GODDAMN THING ABOUT C19 from case fatality rate to herd-immunity threshold says that I must. I also don't do hard drugs, or designer drugs, or even soft drugs other than booze (which has been around for about 5,000 years and is thus well understood). What next, maybe I have to do some X or shoot up krokodil before showing up to work because some guy once did a study and this is shadow emperor Bathhouse Tony's obsession of the week? I calculate not.

This post shows dangerous signs of critical thinking. New Science from the CDC has shown that critical thinking is the #1 reason why unvaxxed persons remain unvaxxed.

"Fully Informed Consent"; is an interesting concept to ponder at many, many different levels. Not just injectable, possibly deadly, chemicals cooked up in a lab. It applies to damn near everything, up to an including our existence.

Much of government and academia and "news" revolves around getting people to do things or view things a certain way, everything against their will, and somehow think simultaneously that they agreed to it. Neat trick, huh?

The longer people allow themselves to be stirred up by it the more successful they are.

401 "Food Insecurity" might actually become a thing, due to leftists and their lockdowns, mask mandates, shutdowns, destroying the economy, logistical failures in transportation, riots, etc.

Up until now however, the biggest problem facing the "poor" in this country, by far, is obesity probably followed by drug abuse. I've traveled pretty extensively around the world a time or two, and I know what real poverty looks like.

A lot of people are struggling, millions of people are on "Food Stamps" but this is part of the con, part of the op. It's a safety release valve. Pay people not to work, and they won't. Further, they won't object to millions of people flooding their country taking their jobs and driving down wages.

This is how you can see brain dead Karen "advocating" for $15 an hour minimum wage in the same breath as "Open Borders Now!"; cause and effect escapes them, they have no clue about economics in any way (or anything else) by dumbing everybody down they can do anything. Minimum wage probably should be, and would be, $25 or more, minus the tens of millions of illegal alien or foreign nationals. And no legislation would be required. Labor is a commodity too.

Over the decades, we seem to have had good success with homeopathic Ledum for treating things like spider bites. Including using a tincture on a cat's leg where the necrosis was so bad you could see the tendons.

Scientifically speaking, homeopathy is the best placebo.

The Nuremberg Code was pointed out to me the other day. It is an interesting document and most nations are signatories to it

The judgment by the war crimes tribunal at Nuremberg laid down 10 standards to which physicians must conform when carrying out experiments on human subjects in a new code that is now accepted worldwide.
This judgment established a new standard of ethical medical behavior for the post World War II human rights era. Amongst other requirements, this document enunciates the requirement of voluntary informed consent of the human subject.
The principle of voluntary informed consent protects the right of the individual

Actually not bad tonight.

The hosts hit me with a C-Note and the jar probably had $60-$70 in it, I have counted.

The fact that I was on $30/hr base pay kind of took the edge off. I did have to bartend outside on the patio while it was 90 degrees because the venue was too small to hold all their tables plus a bar inside. But it cooled off quickly and that meant I wasn't stuck inside listening to all the hip-hop tunes by the DJ.

Small blessings.

We drove out to Fort Hoskins park today, it is in Benton county and is the site of one of two forts set up by LT Sheridan when he was rotated to the Oregon Military District in the 1850's. Then we drove up towards Siletz the back way (hahaha) and then back to Peedee and back home.
It was very nice to do nothing but look at landscape and drive and not worry all the time.

Posted by: Kindltot at July 31, 2021 11:48 PM (qaiJN)

434 Bingo!

So ... it appears (maybe) that it's at least possible they are actually invoking a law that applies only in the event of a biological attack (possibly paid for by ... wait for it ... the US!?) to force compliance to take a vaccine that may or may not work very well, and temporarily at best, and may also (we don't know) may be worse than the disease itself. They will not admit to invoking that law, it would appear, if true. Seems pretty obvious at this point though.

And the people who are screeching the loudest are the ones that are (maybe) the proximate cause of the debacle in the first place.

And to add insult to injury, are now attacking people who want to decline participating in experimental clinical trials. I participated in Round 1 when it damn near killed me, so let me sit this one out?

Camels. Bring in thousands of camels from Arabia. They don't have to be good camels; second-raters will work fine. Give them a barrel of water to drink, and when they have drunk their fill, slam their balls between two bricks. They will take on another 20 gallons or so. Then load them into trebuchets, and launch them into the fire zone.

This is a good one, and one of the few that break formula, where we don't know who the murder is until the end. We think we do for a while, but we don't.

Patrick McGoohan directed this one, too.

Oh, and Robert Vaughn mentioned one time. One of Falk's techniques was to annoy the hell out of his guest star playing the murderer on set so the actor would be genuinely annoyed on screen. Robert Vaughn mentioned he was doing that for the scene, and he was so annoyed he was about to smack Falk.
