The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

This week, the Biden Department of Education was caught trying to push Critical Race Theory into schools all across this country.

They claimed it was an error. I'll tell you what the error was:

The error was they were caught.Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)

Quote II

“I just want people to know that Facebook is a place where, when they do feel discouraged or depressed or isolated, that they could go to Facebook and they could immediately connect with a group of people that care about them,” Nona Jones, the company’s director for global faith partnerships and a nondenominational minister

Quote III

"Two-thirds of students who are no longer in college are not in college due to a mental health issue," Bernadette Melnyk, chief wellness officer and dean of the College of Nursing at Ohio State

Quote IV

“In the coming days and weeks, it’s a little hard to know exactly what to expect. There’s been lots of language at times about an eviction wave or bubble or cliff, and I’m not exactly sure what we’ll see,” Dan Threet, a research analyst with the National Low Income Housing Coalition (NLIHC)

Oh For Fucks Sake! How can we take these people seriously when they pull scientific shit out of their ass?

Government fears over Covid being spread through farting

A number of UK government ministers have expressed concern over the possibility of coronavirus spreading through flatulence.

There is reportedly evidence to suggest the deadly virus could spread through people farting in confined spaces such as a toilet.

Tests have shown that Covid-19 can spread through faecal matter however there is no definitive science to say whether flatulence could spread the disease responsible for a global health crisis.

One minister, who was not named, told The Telegraph that there is “credible-looking stuff on it”.

Thank you Toyota.

The US is slowing moving toward adopting policies that would put more electric vehicles on the road, but for Toyota, it’s not slow enough. The Japanese automaker, which is the largest car company in the world, has been quietly lobbying policymakers in Washington, DC to resist the urge to transition to an all-electric future — partly because Toyota is lagging behind the rest of industry in making that transition itself.

According to The New York Times, a top Toyota executive has met with congressional leaders behind closed doors in recent weeks to advocate against the Biden administration’s plans to spend billions of dollars to incentivize the shift to EVs. The executive, Chris Reynolds, has argued that hybrids, like the Toyota Prius, as well as hydrogen-powered fuel cell vehicles should also be in the mix.

What the author might want to investigate next if the USA has the power grid to recharge every vehicle in the USA at the present time. I doubt we will see that.

So much for your "union" sticking up for you gubmint workers. VA forcing workers to get jabbed for the Kung Flu.

Veterans Affairs Secretary Denis McDonough on Monday made COVID-19 vaccinations mandatory for all VA health care personnel, the first such mandate by a federal agency.

The mandate includes physicians, dentists, nurses and others who work in patient-facing roles.

The VA said it was taking this "necessary step" to keep the veterans it serves "safe." The VA said each employee will have eight weeks to be fully vaccinated.

Bush flunkie John Roberts was heard uttering, "It's something like a tax."

Get ready for Uncle Sam to waive his magic wand and make everything better. Mucho better.

The massive immigrant legalization program that Democrats plan to include in their upcoming budget would overwhelm the government’s citizenship agency, adding millions of new cases to an agency that is already running well above its red line, according to a secret internal study.

That secret study estimated an 11 million man-hour shortage at U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services in 2020, according to data reviewed by The Washington Times.

That was before the pandemic slammed the agency, further skewing its finances, and before the Biden administration added to its burden with a relaxed approach to border jumpers and plans to expand refugee admissions

After all these years, man can still not walk on water. Ice fishing doesn't count.

Reza Baluchi told the coast guard he was headed 1,000 miles north in a running wheel contraption but ended up 30 miles south

A Florida man startled beachgoers when he washed ashore inside a hybrid bubble-running wheel device.

The man, identified by a local news channel as Reza Baluchi, washed ashore in Flagler county on the east coast of Florida on Saturday.

He was inside a large barrel-type device which appeared to have flotation buoys attached to each end. The Flagler county sheriff’s office posted photos of the strange vessel on Facebook.

“The occupant advised he left the St Augustine area yesterday to head to New York,” the sheriff’s office said, “but came across some complications that brought him back to shore”.

“The US coast guard was contacted and arrived on scene to take over the case and ensure the vessel/occupant are USCG compliant for their safety moving forward.”

The government can't call "Mothers", mothers.

But they know the definition of astronaut.

The United States government has decided that so-called ‘space tourists’ taking a jaunt up to the edge of the atmosphere don’t really qualify as astronauts.

That means Branson, Bezos and all those flying on Blue Origin and Virgin Galactic flights won’t be eligible for astronaut wings just because they went up.

Instead, anyone wanting to be known as an astronaut will have to meet new criteria laid out by the American Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The FAA regulates all aspects of civil aviation in the States and has passed a new order adding two stipulations for earning FAA Commercial Space Astronaut Wings.

I believe there is evil. And I also believe there is a Satan. Is George Soros one of Satan's right hand men?

Liberal mega-donor George Soros has directed $1 million to an activist group attempting to defund the police as violent crime surges in major urban centers across the nation.

Soros sent the million dollars via his Color Of Change PAC on May 14, according to Federal Election Commission files obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.

With the streets of America looking more and more like the Old West, this comes as no surprise.

Citizen, otherwise known as the worst kind of hyperlocal app ever created, is now willing to pay people to livestream crimes around New York City. The company is reportedly hiring people in the Big Apple at a starting rate of $25 per hour to run around the city and start streaming crimes to the web in real-time.

The exact nature of these hires — including their very existence — is being kept mostly quiet by Citizen. Any public-facing recruiting for these positions is being done on the DL; one post on JournalismJobs.com from last week sought “field team members” to work for “a tech company with user-generated content.”

I wonder if she would bet her life on her prediction? Oh of course not. People will forget her scaremongering 19 years from now.

Earlier this month, sustainability researcher Gaya Herrington made headlines when she examined claims from a 1972 MIT study predicting the end of civilization — and found that we’re indeed on track for a collapse around the year 2040.

Now, she’s standing by her grim forecast. The moral of the story, Herrington told The Guardian, is that business as usual — an approach that’s worsened global climate change and largely failed to mitigate the resulting weather disasters — will likely lead to economic and societal collapse.

However, she also feels it’s not too late to clean up our act.

“We’re totally capable of making huge changes,” Herrington told the Guardian, “and we’ve seen with the pandemic, but we have to act now if we’re to avoid costs much greater than we’re seeing.”

No mention if this was as a result of the ongoing Cross Bow vs. Long Bow dispute in The ONT.

CORTLAND COUNTY, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — James R. Parker Jr, 58, passed away from injuries after being shot with a crossbow, State Police said.

New York State Police at Homer responded to a residence on Jipson Hill Road in the town of Taylor for a report of a man shot with a crossbow on Friday.

When the trooper arrived, Cincinnatus ambulance and MAVAC were already on scene administering medical aid.

I wonder if there were any zoning law issues?

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — A popular strip club that once beckoned customers off a busy highway leading into Anchorage is now a church offering salvation — instead of temptation — thanks to a daughter of a former exotic dancer.

Linda Dunegan believes divine intervention played a hand in transforming the building that housed Fantasies on 5th into the start-up Open Door Baptist Church, turning the show floor into a sanctuary and trading the dancer’s pole with a pulpit.

“This church came about because I prayed for five years,” said Dunegan, who tried to buy the building before but walked away — for good, she thought — when she and the owner couldn’t come to terms. Then the owner gave a real estate agent a week to sell it and suggested the agent call Dunegan. This time, the deal went through.

Oh at age 78 I'm guessing she is past anger management class education. Genius Award Winner.

JULY 22--The Florida retiree who hurled a Whopper and racial slurs at a Burger King employee in a rage over the thickness of a tomato on her sandwich has been sentenced to probation following a plea to battery, court records show.

Judith Black, 78, entered a no contest plea to the misdemeanor charge during an appearance Tuesday in a county courthouse near her home in The Villages, the vast Florida retirement community.

Black, seen at right, was sentenced to 12 months probation, fined $785, and ordered to attend anger management classes.

Judge Paul Militello also barred Black from returning to the Burger King where the battery occurred, and ordered her to have no contact with the worker she attacked.

The septuagenarian was initially charged with an enhanced felony battery count due to her use of racist language during the April 30 Burger King incident. Prosecutors subsequently moved to remand the case to a lower court for disposition as a misdemeanor.

Once again Gary Sinise is the object of Tonight's Feel Good Story of The Day.

ou might recognize actor Gary Sinise from his incredible roles in Forrest Gump, The Green Mile, and of course CSI: NY. When Gary is not working in front of the camera, he is very passionate about honoring and helping military veterans and their families. In 2011, he started the Gary Sinise Foundation with a goal to “entertain, educate, inspire, strengthen, and build communities.” He started a program through his foundation called the Snowball Express which is specifically designed to provide free trips to children of fallen soldiers.

The Snowball Express program went above and beyond and was able to give over 1,750 children and their legal guardians or surviving parent a free trip to Orlando Florida for a 5-night stay and the happiest place on Earth. Not only did they children receive a free trip, they also were able to take advantage of free mentoring, counseling services, education and entertainment.

87 I am reading First Man, the biography of Neil Armstrong and Apollo 11.

As I read (the author, James Hansen is a very good writer) I stopped seeing the mission like a little kid: I always pictured the Earth and the Moon in static locations, like balls suspended from the ceiling with yarn. But this all happened with the earth revolving around the sun, the moon revolving around the Earth. When they reached lunar orbit, the sun was behind the moon. In other words, everything was moving.

This realization only added to just how magnificent this whole thing was.

Just be honest with him. Tell him you need a mental break.

People don't always realize that these news stories are stressors and can and do make you sick. Stress causes inflammation of all sorts in your body because of cortisol.

Take a break. Read a good book for a week.

Personally, I build scale models and listen to podcasts about stuff not news related.

I keep pointing out that the "homicides are up but other crimes are down!" garbage is complete bullshit. Reporting of the crimes is down. Why bother calling the cops when you've been mugged when its already been announced that they aren't coming and are forbidden from doing anything to catch the guy. But its a lot harder to hide the bodies bleeding out in the street like the $200 robbery.

Internal combustion can run on a lot of different things if push came to shove, but with electric cars you're screwed. I looked it up when I thought the handball stuff was beach volleyball. They're not required to wear bikinis. They actually have warm weather and cold weather uniform options. And 2 of the 4 warm weather options for the women include shorts.

I had a black kid save my ass from a Darwin Award when I was on leave in the Marines. Just got back from overseas, took a bus to LA to see my girl. She lived on the other side of the city from my bus stop. So like an idiot I thought I would save taxi fare by humping my seabag across downtown LA. And the sun is starting to drop.

Black kid, maybe 18(?) steps in front of me: "What do you think you're doing?"

"Walking to my girlfriend's apartment"

"White Boy, they will gut you before you make 3 blocks"

I gave him all the cash I had in my wallet as a tip for the life saving tip and called a cab.

Dumbass.

323 Okay, true story time -- Coming from south MS, one of our favorite 70s pastimes was to ride around town exploring offbeat roads. Usually we had a 6 pack on board. Anyhow, that was our idea of a cheap nite out, gas and beer being pretty cheap.

So. I land a job near Chitcago. The wife and I decide to do the same thing on the south side of Chicago. We had a map, of course, but no early warning system.

I commented to the wife that it's been quite a while since I've seen a white or friendly face. She agrees. I pull over and start hunting for an expressway out. A Chicago cop pulls up behind us, blue lights running.

"What are you doing here?" I explain. He says "Follow us". We do.

326 The letoff. He basically told me that because I'm a wimpy girl, i should prefer a wimpy bow. The whole reason I wanted a recurve was to provide good exercise for my back muscles. I've never seen the point of a bow that lets off. Seems to me that learning to draw smoothly, aim, and fire is the whole point, and letoff is cheating. And I did have experience shooting both and knew I preferred recurve.

Granted, if my draw length were 31" instead of 24", I might feel differently.

---
The Rolling Stones Rock and Rock Circus show took place on December 11, 1968. During 1968 Jones was sinking further into incapacitation due to substance abuse. Jones was so erratic going into 1969 he was increasingly ignored at rehearsals and recording sessions. This lead the Stones to postpone touring in the first part of 1969. In June 1969 he was forced out of the band and on July 9, 1969 he was found dead. I can't find any shows in between the Circus show and his death.

An electric car has almost nothing but electronics and those parts cannot be repaired, only replaced, and then only with dealer parts--sweet at every level!

That is funny. New Mexico has the best tamales. They are so good we have a donut, burrito, and tamales store near me. This is self evident proof of excellence: If you sell fresh donuts everything else has to be good by definition.

Tamales are also acquired via a black market of sorts. You have to know somebody that knows somebody to get to the good ones and you are sworn to secrecy upon penalty of having to go to Texas for tamales.

369 353 My husband has decided he is going to be a cowboy when he grows up. We are going to the Deadwood rodeo on Saturday, then up to the Cody rodeo next weekend. He told me to get the national rodeo schedule for next year and we should just follow the rodeo around the country in the rv. Mamma don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys.

---
The Wild Bill Hitchcock museum in Cody is terrific. WBH was Elvis essentially. It also has an excellent firearms and Plains Indian collections. Also, Buffalo, for a very small town, has a very good museum that is focused on the Fetterman Massacre. I think the Lakota remember this rather differently which the museum doesn't cover.

Athletes who work hard, are disciplined, and are in their prime and/or peak physical condition prefer to show off their bodies. Men and women. There is nothing wrong with it. The human body is a work of art and should be admired. It should be motivation and inspiration for others to chase their peak aesthetics and athleticism.

I hadn't considered myself a Masters of the Universe fan since the 80s, but there's a trend that I'm really pissed off about, and that's the fact that nobody makes anything for boys anymore. If boys like it, it now has to be re-envisioned as something just for girls.

401 I kinda figure people still watching Kevin Smith stuff deserve Kevin Smith. He's always been a mediocre-talent (at best) fanboy. And He-Man has always kinda sucked too. Real swords and sorcery stuff is dark, non-PC, and not terribly child friendly. The original He-Man didn't check any of those boxes by 80s standards. I'll allow that the Castle Greyskull toy was pretty cool for 10-year-olds. Kinda like The Navaronne that way.

402 Made tamales from scratch - whole thing, including the masa - 2 or 3 times. Were great. Never again. Easy to see why, as a non-commercial thing, they were usually a special/holiday treat, with labor involving many ninos (which there always were).

But like redc did - buy the masa pre-made, prep your own fillings, savory or other - that sounds doable. Then you just soak some corn husks, wrap 'em, and steam 'em on the stove for a bit.

Hmmm.

403 Alberta Oil Peon,

While grouse hunting in Alberta I got to meet a grizzly bear. It came out bush so thick I might as while have been in a tropical jungle. it stopped in the middle of the trail, looked at me, snorted, decided I wasn't worth the trouble, and walked back into the bush.

It is amazing how quickly you can swap out birdshot for slugs.

Worst few minutes of my life.

This was back in the day, when you could go over the US-Canadian border with 400 rounds of shotgun shells and a pinkie swear you would buy a license in the morning.

Just don't try and bring apple with you. That lands you in secondary.

404 They've more or less made it near impossible for boys to have positive role models by poisoning boys organizations like Boy Scouts. But "they"

407 One tiny victory at a time. Today avoided jury service on what turns out is a capital murder case (cop murdered, attempted murder on a second). Whew. Very different process today. Usually (yes, I'm called for jury duty very frequently, compared to everyone I know, so sadly I know the general routines) there is a mad scramble to assemble juries for 4-6 trials, then everyone else is dismissed.

Today, entire day taken up with dividing up jurors into those with hardship excuses/those without, judge - with attorneys present - talking with hardship people individually and ruling on their situations, and non-hardship people filling out huge questionnaires to expedite voir dire.

I'm assuming capital cases have automatic trials and not-guilty pleas in CA? Facts of the case, as I quickly ascertained afterwards (judge actually read the primary charges, using the names), seem like a 1-hour trial, meaning "why isn't it a plea bargain?", and they said it may take up to 8 weeks.

Guess what, bitch? You drove our fathers out of our lives. You take all our fictional heroes away from us in the name of "inclusion".

There's now nobody to serve as a positive role model for boys, to teach them to grow up and become proper upstanding men.

This is all presupposing that your average woman will even go for a decent guy instead of chasing Chad, who knows he can get laid easily without any sort of commitment.

Stupid plums are not freestone so I had to cook them and then run them through a food mill to separate out the pits.

451 Kindltot, haven't seen/heard of them in years, but there was a fascinating thing here a while back. I think it was a small business, or somebody's side-business - they'd go to homeowners with mature, healthy citrus trees and offer them a small % to pick and sell their fruit.

Beautiful, bountiful citrus trees are all over the effing place in SoCal suburbs - most of them, it seems, ignored. Tons of good fruit going to the rats, or just sitting there. Within 500 yds of me there are dozens of beautiful trees from which I'd love to have just a portion of the unused fruit. This place in the past had a nice collection, currently down to one spectacular meyer lemon.

457 Barring a complete lack of electric part availability or some sort of EMP pulse, automotive perfection was reached in the 90s with the Panther Platform, the Ford Crown Vic, Grand Marquis, and Town Car. The engines are known to last 500k or more with little problem, they get mileage in the low to mid 20s on the freeway, and the mechanicals are old school RWD body on frame construction. Just modern enough to not have the annoying issues of older cars, but carrying over most of their good features. And if you can find a nice Townie, you get plush luxury like an expensive car riding on the engine and mechanicals of a taxi cab. I have one of each type and they have been my main rides since 2012.

458 Haven't checked to see whether this location is suitable for maracuja (passionfruit) - not enough cold nights for stone-fruit, already looked into that. Not hot enough to ripen grapefruit, either - they generally need high heat.

But the plan is just the basics - valencia orange for juice and cooking, bearss lime for same, maybe blood orange or cara cara navel. Sunlight issues (enormous trees that block out sun in most of the very large yard).

475 Chuck C, it most definitely *is* a capital murder trial (one policeman killed, another wounded), and as I said, I assume there is some sort of automatic not-guilty plea/substantial state-aided defense involved. Which I'm OK with. Even in "open/shut" cases, point of a trial is to test the state's case and evidence, which many don't understand. When a death sentence is on the line*, going through these motions is more than reasonable.

As a long-time fan of limiting state power, I'm fine with that.

Not in the family, either, with so-called "no-fault" divorce. Mom gets bored with Dad, boom, she can just kick him right out of their kids' lives. Sure, he technically has visitation rights, but she will not go to jail for denying him those rights. He can go to jail for not giving her that child support check every month, but she will not face any sort of punishment for not keeping up her end of the bargain.

Actually don't know much about Chernenko. He was of the generation where at least *some* of those getting to the Politburo had done *something* real, by dint of involvement in the Great Patriotic War. Very youngest part of that generation.

Most true. He is operating on a lizard brain that was honed over decades of being nasty. You see this same behavior out of Fauci when Rand Paul is stuffing fire crackers up his ass. 506 Caesar, yep, like Khrushchev and Brezhnev, a politruk during the GPW. And obviously bland. Nikita actually did deal with some heavy s**t as Stalin's rep in the south when things were at their grimmest. Like most things, the quality and contribution of political officers is over-generalized, obviously to the dark and bad side, reasonably enough. But some rose to the occasion in tough situations, and were part of fairly heroic efforts.

519 There is a tide in the affairs of men.
Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune;
Omitted, all the voyage of their life
Is bound in shallows and in miseries.
On such a full sea are we now afloat,
And we must take the current when it serves,
Or lose our ventures.

525 There's a coordinated campaign to deny the civil rights of the non-vaccinated at all levels

The CDC cancelled its request for emergency PCR tests a dew days ago, mandating that test labs have to know distinguish 'rona and flu. As a result, there will be a massive drop in 'rona cases. Hence, the rush to forve vaccination.

In the same week, federal, state and city officials are mandating vaccination at the Veterans Dept, the state of CA and the City of New York or termination of employees.

It's almost as there was an agenda in all of this. Almost.

I do too. I just don't know how to get that ball rolling. To be honest, as much as I complain that we should be doing something active (like protesting) I don't know if I would have the energy to follow thru on it.

And yes, it does bother me to see Europe in the streets and Americans sitting on the sidelines. But part of that may be that Antifa is perceived as owning the street. Who want's to go sing America The Beautiful in the park only to get their skull cracked open with a bike lock. I think the BLM riots were really about prepping the current battlefield, to keep the Right out of the streets.

They infiltrated The Minutemen and made 'em out as terrorists. Tax audited the Tea Party to death. Threepers are similarly co-opted as the MM, and the Oathkeepers seem to have become a honey trap to ensnare patriotic servicemembers and LE types.

In short, they've been whipping the right into submission, and it's working for now, more than it's not. The failure in their plan though, is plain for all to see. People won't form-up for mere protests or demonstrations, only to suffer the pain of the lash.

They will form up though, when there's nothing else to be done. And that's the error the leftards are making. They're leaving no other options on the table.

572 @549 Hoyt's Paid Turkish Provocateur-I don't think our leadership sold out. They did exactly what they wanted to do. That IS and has always been the Republican Party. As far as any new leadership, oh don't worry we'll get some. We will have candidates in whats left of red states that will come along and be MAGA and Donald Trump as all get out.
Many of us will lap it up, celebrate them and elect them. It will seem glorious until they start selling out and capitulating to the left. This is the grifter class of the Republican Party, the same ones that claimed to be "conservative" until elected or if they were conservative and put up a fight against the leadership they were run out of town the next election. Of course their R opponent was funded by Repub leadership. The grifter class will adapt to Trump/MAGA just as they did with conservatives and conservatism.

If people want to say "conservatism failed" this is where we failed and that is vetting our candidates. Still I don't know how we could overcome CoC/Repub leadership backed candidates.

574 @561 Jim-Thanks for the history reminder, and it makes sense and connects the dot.

The other night sven said something to me that made me think about what we watched last summer with people counter protesting antifa/BLM, getting their heads split open and shot. Remember the cops standing down and doing nothing and us questioning why? We were pretty pissed but now I think the shoe is on the other foot. Sven said people will chose some form of comfort over risk, just like some of the LEO.

Why risk it? Adapt to the lefts societal constructs, enjoy what you can and keep your mouths shut. Again, not trying to be doom and gloom but I don't see the left relinquishing any of the power they've acquired. I'm believing anything now or in the future will be too little too late, and the left will crack down hard. I just wish we could do something to make these pricks flinch and buy us some time.

597 Although even if Team Nazi Rainbow loses (dropping to 3rd) there is still a decent chance they would advance into the playoffs, depending on how 3rd place teams in the other brackets ranked up against them.

So it's a long shot I will get satisfaction tonight but... "from hell's heart, I stab at thee. For hate's sake I spit my last breath at thee" and all that.

Ice could be a problem. Hell, 'lectic pawr is needed to run the damn heating elements to make the damn tea. That might be a problem.

I've been looking at generators (I've got tractors with PTO HP -- you can spend your money on KVA without worrying 'bout an engine to turn it). Only problem is fuel to run 'em. If grid goes down, fuel will likely be a problem as well. I've still got a 500 gal diesel tank here. I'm thinking about filling it up.

However, it will be Dec. before I can get a generator here, looks like.

Look at "12 lead" generators. Three-phase. With that, you have all sorts of possible combinations of voltages and phase. Single phase combinations are possible for 120/240V 3-wire. Problem is balance, you can't use the full capacity 'cause of unbalance in single phase configurations.

Looking at parallel delta, and zig-zag configurations for the generators for single phase (120/240V 3-wire). I use to know this shit like the back of my hand. I'm having to remember shit about all the tradeoffs and efficiencies.

There is, in the immediate neighborhood hereof, a character named "Eddie", whom I've warned dear Miley about, who is need, per my best estimation, a clinical psychopath. Years ago, I heard him utter that he "would kill my brother, and get away with it". Said brother died many years ago.

Said brother had used cocaine heavily in his youth. His heart blew out. But dear "Eddie" could've pulled it off.

Dear Eddie's father has had to pull a gun on his dear son more than once, to keep dear son from killing him or fucking him up royally.

The father died a while back, aortic blow-out (which made me wonder if he'd stupidly gotten the Covid vaccines, but I don't know).

Anyway, Miley worries about Dear Eddie.

644 Speaking of women's soccer - I have a thing for USA women's hockey for two reasons. It is great and half the team comes from my births state. Bonus points for a quarter of the team from a university I know well in Minnesota.

I have mixed feelings about the no hard checking rules. In the plus column the lack whacks makes for a fluid game. In the negative column no whacks is sexist as hell. Watching the women play one gets the sense that their idea of lady like includes laying out an opponent.

Posted by: LostInSpace at July 27, 2021 04:21 AM (ESLBo)

645 From the blog: "USA happy to play out the draw and save energy for the next round?"

Nazi Rainbow has the tiebreaker over the Aussies, so theoretically they could play for draw and force Australia to make some desperation plays.

But in every sport I have played, I have found that dialing down your goals always bites you in the ass. Inertia can be a Frankenstein Monster. Best strategy is always to play to win, full bore, 100%.

Pretty much everybody knows a "Dear Eddie" at some point in their life. That's funny I was thinking about that the other night.

Scott P. came to mind. He was a neighborhood bully. He had a treehouse/fort we had played in, but he was so detested a few of us tore it down over something.

I recall his Mom scolding me about that. You see he was a troubled child of divorce in ca. 1965. We moved away, but sadly I learned later, maybe my college years, that he died of a drug overdose.

Near where I lived in DT Seattle there was a good size ivy bush that was home to the man that was 127% schizophrenic. Over time he matted a depression in the middle of the bush and once in there you couldn't see him. But you could hear him and on occasion he would huck empty beverage and food containers out on the sidewalk. The locals got used to and paid close attention to what was going on. The tourists from Japan and Iowa would either pass out and run away screaming.

Dear Eddie is very smart, and indeed, a clinical psychopath in my lay estimation. I've told Miley funny stories. Dear Eddie's grandmother, whom she called "Little Eddie" used to brag about him when he was a little kid.

As a little boy myself, I actually heard my paternal grandmother cuss, after a phone conversation with Little Eddies' grandmother bragging about how smart "Little Eddie" was.

Seriously, all joking aside, I do think Little/Dear Eddie is as a clinical psychopath.
