Quick Hits: Guardians of the Woke Revolution Edition

In another act of Woke Cultural Vandalism, the Cleveland Indians have changed their name to the less offensive -- and less culturally meaningful, and less tethering us to our traditions, less grounding us in the long course of history -- Cleveland Guardians.

Over at Hot Air, the Chief Karen in Charge of Mask Enforcement is doing what neocons always do. He's not a neocon any longer -- he's just a straight-ticket voting Nancy Pelosi Democrat -- but he follows the old neocon pattern.

Which is complaining not that they changed the name, but that the name they changed it to isn't as good as other possible cultural-vandalism possibilities.

This is what the neocons do. This is almost certainly what the neoliberals at National Review are doing -- accepting the left's agenda and the left's victory, as usual, but then just trying to make it "better."

They accept that the left will control the rudder and sails of the ship of state; they accept that the left are the captains and the officers.

And they accept that their own role is that of trusted sailors, following the captain's orders, and fixing the damage that accrues to the ship as the left runs it aground.

And the rest of us...? We're slaves in the hold.

This is the liberal wing of the GOP all over. This is the Paul Ryan Wing in action-- they accept every single one of the left's priorities as the pseudoright's priorities, but then suggest "better" ways to achieve the left's priorities.

"Market-based solutions" for achieving every single agenda point of the left.

And the right's priorities...? What about those priorities?

Well, to hell with the right's priorities. They're ignorant racists who must be guided towards a Better Way of Thinking About the World.

The left's way of thinking of the world. The left is right, the neocons believe, about everything accept the mere mechanics and gadgetry of achieving their utopia.

Unexpectedly, first-time jobless claims jumped 51,000.

The number of Americans filing new claims for unemployment benefits rose to a two-month high last week, a reminder that the labor market was far from being out of the woods as the nation confronts a resurgence in new COVID-19 infections.

Initial claims for state unemployment benefits increased 51,000 to a seasonally adjusted 419,000 for the week ended July 17, the highest level since mid-May.

Looks like we'll be experiencing reboots of the much-unloved RECOVERY SUMMER and GREEN SHOOTS franchises.


Facebook has cracked down on the use of the word "hoes"... in a gardening group.

Facebook's censors are digging deep -- flagging the word "hoe" in a western New York gardening group because they apparently confused the tool for a disparaging term for women.

A group called WNY Gardeners has been repeatedly flagged by the social network for "violating community standards," when its more than 7,500 members discussed the long-handled bladed implement, which is spelled with an "e," unlike the offensive term.

We should definitely cede more decisions about how we speak, think, and live to our oligarch masters and the purplehair nosering angry Alphabet People they employ to bully and harass us.

Maybe we need better, more market-based solutions to the important project of controlling our words and thoughts.

Speaking of: Democrat Amy Klobuchar has proposed a modification to section 230 immunity -- making the tech monopolies liable to lawsuit, but only if they fail to adequately censor what the left calls "misinformation."

The bill currently limits this piercing of immunity for allowing "health" information, but, as you've seen over the past ten years, the left claims that everything they object to is a "health" issue.

Misgender someone? You're "harming" them psychologically, doing real violence to them. Misgendering is a health issue.

Trying to buy a gun online? Guns result in deaths, so guns are a health issue.

Meanwhile, the merry band of corporate idiots in the Conservative, Inc. grifter media continues pretending that corporations are not acting at the coercive bidding of the government, and continues castigating conservatives for trying to apply counter-pressure to the left's inexorable -- and successful -- pressure to censor and deplatform the right.

Biden's "town hall" flopped in the ratings, proving, once again, that he is The Most Popular President in History.

Speaking of massive fraud and criminality: Hunter Biden's selling influence to foreign buyers, and Jen Psaki is doing a kind of verbal art to claim this is all above-board:


Did you catch that? Hunter Biden will know who the donors are -- he'll meet-and-greet them before the auction -- but the White House is going to keep their names anonymous, supposedly to enhance ethics.

This is not what she told the press two weeks ago. She straight-up lied to the leftwing propaganda press, and they're all pretending this is merely a minor clarification of the claim made two weeks ago, rather than a complete admission that the Biden White House is completely for sale, and they won't even tell the public who the bidders are.

Not exactly. It wasn't the Olympics and it wasn't beach volleyball and it wasn't spandex, but other than that your information was mostly right. It was beach handball (which is kind of like basketball with no dribbling), it was a tournament in Spain, and they were wearing gym shorts. I think the whole point of the "sport" is kind of entertainment-exploitative, and the bikini bottom uniforms are part of it, kind of like working at Hooters.

Where I used to live at the gym there was a girl who was pretty and very chit chatty, flirty, wore short tight booty shorts every day and built like an athlete. She told me she played Softball 2nd base (I assumed one of the Universities) and she asked for my number so we exchanged numbers, which I never called or returned her text because I loved that gym plus small town.
Anyway, I went back after a year on , and she saw me and lit up. She came over and said hey Pepe I just graduated. I said awesome, what did you get your degree in. She laughed hard and said no I just graduated high school this month and was touching my hand and feeling my arm and shoulder.

We had a brief four years where a guy was in office who promoted our priorities and he had outstanding results on every front with the economy and foreign policy despite the opposition of both parties and without their help. That scared them all shitless and is why they had to destroy him.

Good luck finding another person who can weather all of that and stay true. Trump was an imperfect vessel, but he is the only president since Reagan who really got what America is supposed to be and did not utterly loathe those who love those ideals and take them as something other than an impediment.
