Jen Psaki: Tech Monopolies Should Act as a Coordinated Cartel To Ban People Across All Platforms
BIDEN DOUBLES DOWN ON DEMAND FOR CARTEL-WIDE CENSORSHIP, TELLING MONPOLIES "THEY'RE KILLING PEOPLE" BY NOT DEPLATFORMING MORE

childsspin
"What is your Social Credit score, Citizen?!"

Coming soon from National Review:

The Conservative Case for Permitting Monopolies to Act as Integrated Cartels Under the Direct Orders of the US Government, and Then Pretending This is the "Free Market in Action" Because the "Free Market in Action" Pays Us Money to Act As Their Shills

Oh, the GOP is itself bought off by the Tech Monopolies and the Chamber of Commerce, too.

But I expect that from politicians.

I find National Review's corruption more putrid.

Update:

Is the corporate pseudoright going to spin this as just more Glory of the Free Market in Action, or are they going to completely ignore it?

Answer: They're going to completely ignore it, as they usually do, because they're paid to bury bad news for their sponsors.

They outta do it though, I'm sure creating a class of literally outcast men with no job, money, or future prospects couldn't backfire on them in any way.

Apparently a significant number of Yakuza members are descendants of the untouchable class in Japan. Some old school businesses still keep lists of those families. People who worked in slaughterhouses, leathermakers, undertakers, sanitation workers, etc were on these lists.

Dave Reaboi remarked that NR has always had a single audience in mind: New York City intellectuals and liberals. It was never a magazine for heartlanders or actual conservatives.

I would add that as that single audience drifted to the far left (and to the authoritarian side), National Review drifted with them, because you can't talk to someone except in the same language.

______________

Technically, the first amendment only prohibits the federal government from making laws abridging the freedom of speech.

We're not going to pass any laws that do that. We're just going to have some friendly policies with our Big Tech co-conspir . . . er, I mean buddies, wherein we tell them what speech and speakers we want silenced, and they do the rest -- not because any law compels them to do so, but just so that they can stay in the good graces of this administration.

See, no first amendment violations here! All totes legal and good!

According to the True Conservatives of State Power, no it isn't.

According to the reality, yes it is. They are acting as state agents, as directed by or with the cooperation of the state. This is flatly illegal. The state isn't allowed to outsource its tyranny to make it suddenly legal.

Per the "4 Hour Expert" thing in the sidebar... here's my idea. The only pre-req is that you have to be in the middle class.

Step #1: Start up a blog. Make at least one desultory, half-hearted, profanity-laced post.

Step #2: Get ordained in the Universal Life Church. It costs about $50.

Step #3: Go to one of those Scottish title-mill websites, and become an official Lord. It costs about $50, too.

Now, as a bourgeois clergyman & journalist with a noble title, all bases are covered. I call it "4 Hours, 4 Estates."

Heartlanders is a better term I think - I believe in the word "conservative" about as much as "liberal" anymore. Neither means a damn thing.
I will say this - as a man that's worked RI, Connecticut, Jersey, New York, and even Mass - the mentality up there is just fucking different. It's a collective mentality. You can see it, hear it, even feel it - if you pay attention. Basic conversations all turn, quickly, to an enforcement of will. 181 Someone above mentioned how SCOTUS keeps ducking everything.

They couldn't shut up during Trump - because Trump showed them that he cared. He obeyed. He even obeyed to the point of granting press credentials when a Federal Judge said so. If there was ever a moment to say Fuck You - that was the time.

They did shut up during Obama - because Obama showed them he didn't give a shit. Roberts even flipped his vote, rather than be embarrassed on ObamaCare.

194 And here I thought that the SC ruled that the State, in co-opting private institutions to compel their speech, was in fact acting as a state actor. And thus, immunities don't apply. Silly me.

Yup, private institution or person acting at the behest of the government means said institution/person is a state actor is long established.

Which means SCOTUS will ignore it and let lower courts AKSHUALLY this is different.

195 Speaking of gaming stuff, I think Steam Deck will probably sell well. Too well. They can't be making money at that price point and they will run out and everyone will be pissed.

If not, and everything goes well, it should be a good system. I see less cross-pollination between Sony, Xbox, and especially Nintendo with Steam now though. Steam is becoming a director competitor now. Microsoft will be the most open for obvious reasons.

I don't see myself getting one because I got a screaming pc back at Christmas '19 that can play everything QHD+ 100hz max settings and I don't need anything else. But it might be a pretty good console for other people that want a switch-like game experience but with pc/steam titles.

310 >>The Conservative Case for Permitting Monopolies to Act as Integrated Cartels Under the Direct Orders of the US Government,

Broken record time: There is an international group of all the globalists, big business and big tech people you would expect working on implementing universal Digital ID, where you have a single online ID that connects everything -- government-issued ID, financial records, health records, social media accounts, any government-related info (unemployment, disability, etc.). Several months ago the UK's NIH tweeted about how their vax passports would do this -- and then deleted and denied it after a swift, negative response.

It would be the end of anonymity online, and it would be a centralized tracking and deplatforming point. The vax passport is the latest way to get this started -- understand that is the big picture goal, and how this would make someone like Biden effectively cancelling someone completely very, very easy: https://id2020.org/

They've been working on this since 2016, IIRC.

The problem with Facebook is you don't have to be on it for them to track you. Not only do they get updates about you from your elderly relatives who still post there, they've got most of the web infected with their trackers. They also have extremely good facial recognition tech that will analyze ALL pictures uploaded to their site and update their profile on you.

Keep digging. Enjoy the posts that bemoan how the gun nuts ain't doing anything, by those that have no guns. That happens a couple times a day.

Dig enough - you'll figure out human nature. "Somebody ought to do something" by those that will do nothing, yet despise those that can and don't, is pretty damn standard.

I think I was wrong, yet I'm not sure enough to even say that. The concept of talking about "infinite series" this morning, and then comparing different infinities. I wonder if the analogy is water. Yes - it's all infinite - it never stops. Yet - and this got my attention - an infinite series made up of only one tenth of the numbers - must be "different", even if it went on forever. Still infinite - but less so.

then i mention i'm a pharmacy person, and that Big Pharma has been trying to get permission to test mRNA vaxes for years, but was never approved, due to safety concerns. leaves most of them worried as i walk off with no fucks to give.

I think it was much more than half.

Trump is guilty of being an outsider who didn't know who he could trust when he walked into the White House. As Ace pointed out, he was so fucking stupid he didn't even know one of the few republican district attorneys in Delaware wasn't a loyal supporter. This guy was probably number 2857th on the appointment list, so it was just pure incompetence on Trump's part that he didn't know this guy's politics.

Some people would be mad at the conservative establishment for not having people vetted properly, but Ace and I are focusing our anger at the real problem - Trump.

Unless things have changed since I was active duty (and oh boy, how they have changed!) the enlisted rank and file are generally more conservative in their outlook than their officers who got their indoctrination in college (and sadly enough, service academies). Likewise, the police who actually work for a living are generally more conservative than their leadership. If it comes to drawing down on friends and neighbors, I suspect the leadership in both police and military are going to get a rude awakening. Not saying there aren't some that will do it, because there definitely are, but I would suspect a large number would call out sick that day.

I'm with you, GGE. That could even be a recipe for mutiny. Knowing that, the occasions where military or LE leadership would risk it would be few and far between. We could further reduce the probability by actively disseminating that the Nuremberg "just following orders" defense is not valid and they risk being judged harshly in the future if they participate.

489 Supposedly AG Merrick Garland is privately not happy with Psaki's remarks.

But he's a good little dog, an obedient dog, he won't do anything.

How many Democrats have spoken out against this call for censorship coming from the White House? I expect a few like Tulsi would speak out. If it's less than 10% of all elected Dems, I think it's safe to say that 90% of all Democrats are vermin and we should plan accordingly. Namely that we have an absolute obligation to win, meaning we should do pretty much anything necessary to win, and we shouldn't worry about whether it's "fair" or "imagine if they did that to us." They ARE doing it to us.

This isn't a call to violence of course. We should only do things that are EFFECTIVE and Democrats would love nothing more than to be able to say that opposition to censorship = violence. Just that we need to take power and then not be afraid to use the Democrats' weapons against the Democrats. Whatever they are doing to us, we should happily do back to them whenever we can. Audits, politicized investigations, censorship, gaslighting, denying the ability to rally, holding political prisoners, silencing former presidents, etc.

I think Parlar (they came back didn't they) or Dave Rubin's platform should preemptively ban every major liberal from their social media site, and then state that due to those people being banned on one social media platform they should therefore be banned on all of them, and watch the tune suddenly change.
