The Saturday Night Joke

Donald Trump, Queen Elizabeth, and Vladimir Putin all die and go to hell.

While there, they spy a red phone and ask what the phone is for.

The devil tells them it is for calling back to Earth.

Putin asks to call Russia and talks for 5 minutes.

When he is finished the devil informs him that the cost is a million dollars, so Putin writes him a check.

Next Queen Elizabeth calls England and talks for 30 minutes.

When she is finished the devil informs her that the cost is 6 million dollars, so she writes him a check.

Finally Donald Trump gets his turn and talks for 4 hours.

When he is finished the devil informs him that the cost is $5.00.

When Putin hears this he goes ballistic and asks the devil why Trump got to call the USA so cheaply.

The devil smiles and replies, "Since Biden took over, the country has gone to hell, so it's a local call." (H/T Legally Sufficient)

Hmmm. I didn't know Tik Tok had a ban hammer. And I didn't know that MLM = multi-level-marketing. I guess it was a day of learning.

Despite TikTok’s ban, MLMs still thrive on the app
The ban has had little actual effect.

TikTok took a big first step towards banning multi-level-marketing on its app, yet many recruiters are finding ways around the ban, using the social networking site to lure people into pyramid schemes

The days when multi-level marketing sounded like a neighborhood Tupperware meeting are long gone. Even the classic ‘‘Hey hun!’’ messages on Facebook from someone you went to high school with are starting to sound a bit like old news.

Watch these guys set off a massive firework in their garage. You want a safety brief? Because that's how you get a safety brief.

With the gripping title, “Firework Fail – Idiots light mortar shell in garag,” what can possibly go wrong? The “e” is missing, but that’s probably because whoever filmed this video posted it online as quickly as possible. Probably thinking: “Oh my god, the world has to witness this! There’s no time for spell check!” Or, “Shit the cops are coming so I might as well get this out to as many people as possible before they haul us in.”

Is this just a tad odd or what?

A pair of inseparable identical twin sisters have found "one in a million" love interests in the form of identical twin brothers - and the foursome all live together.

Venessa and Kerissa D'Arpino, 25, who work as personal trainers, have always done everything together - but they never expected to find love so close to each other too.

Venessa said: "My sister and I grew up as best friends and were always by each other's side.

"Nobody knows us like we know each other, and we always the other's back. We have a deep connection and have experienced all our large milestones together.

Look God, no hands. Genius Award Winner.

An Ohio woman reportedly crashed her car into two other vehicles and a house after taking her hands of the wheel and letting God take control at a speed of 120 mph (190km/h), as a way to test her faith.

Authorities claim that the unnamed 31-year-old was driving a car with her daughter, aged 11, down the streets of Beachwood, Ohio, at around midnight on June 15. Security footage shows her car running a red light and eventually spin out of control, hit a utility pole and two other vehicles before stopping into a house. Luckily, neither the driver nor her child were seriously hurt, and the house they crashed into, which was empty at the time, suffered only minor damage. Upon questioning the driver about the accident, police officers were shocked to hear that she had been going through trials and tribulations lately, and simply decided to “let go and let God take the wheel”.

Water and beer. Tonight's Feel Good Story of The Day.

A Wyoming rancher was pinned under an ATV for two days after a rollover crash — and survived the ordeal by drinking bottled water and beer.

Frank Reynolds, 53, was rounding up livestock on a neighbor’s pasture when his vehicle tipped over on top of him Sunday, dislocating his shoulder and breaking his ribs, according to the Gillette News Record.

Our family used to camp at this place in San Diego during summers from about 1979 to 1983. The restrooms were clean (don't know about today) and it barely felt like camping, because it's right off I-5 and you could literally see a new housing development from the site.

30 BBC on Europe's flooding.

How does climate change cause flooding?
Global heating causes more water to evaporate, which leads to an increase in the amount of annual rain and snow
At the same time, a warmer atmosphere means it can hold more moisture - which also increases the intensity of rainfall
Rather than gently watering plants, this intense rainfall leads to flooding, like we're seeing in Northern Europe now

For those of you who aren't familiar with the area around Nationals Stadium, before the city eminent-domained the area to build the ballpark it was not a place you wanted to be. Even now, with the ballpark and the nearby soccer stadium and a ton of residential and commercial development, depending on where you are (and this is absolutely true of where this shooting happened) it can only take a couple blocks before things get dicey.

139 How does climate change cause flooding?
Global heating causes more water to evaporate, which leads to an increase in the amount of annual rain and snow
At the same time, a warmer atmosphere means it can hold more moisture - which also increases the intensity of rainfall
Rather than gently watering plants, this intense rainfall leads to flooding, like we're seeing in Northern Europe now

And how many degrees heating has taken place in the past fifty years? They are making it sound like Europe's climate now approximates the Caribbean.

I don't understand the logic behind stopping a game when some punks are just having a friendly gunfight outside the stadium. They want the fans to go leave the stadium while the smell of gun smoke is still in the air and EMTs and police are working the scene?

If there was some way to squeeze a double header in, that would have been a much better alternative, people stay a little longer and the crime scene is better managed. Those who want to flee, nothing stops them from going, but I would think being in the stadium is better than in the thick of things.

If you're interested in giving it a shot, try EHarmony. Pay for the most basic subscription then cancel it as soon as it's worth doing so (less than a month for me). Be brutally honest about yourself and a little blunt, while humorous, in your profile description, and keep it short. Post good but realistic pics. All this will weed out many of the women you would not want around anyway, and attract the ones you wouldn't mind hearing from. You'll get bites, but don'tbe too picky... conversation over a cup of coffee can be fun even if it goes nowhere. Play it all by ear and be honest at all times...esp with yourself. That's what worked for me.

Avoid match dot com.

Their marketing team keeps reminding everyone that they don't care about their customers and BRCC will do whatever the hell they want to do. They have a schtick that separates them from Starbucks: they curse, exploit women and fire off guns. They are regular caricatures of the fly-over America demographic, its like they are Leftists who think this is how real America thinks and behaves.

I think with their desire to go public, they are going to be having East Coast money people taking over and completing the transformation into Wokeness in order to get in to the ESG money.

Treat them as the lying posers that they are.

"So what year's climate do you want to dial it back to?"

Waaay back then there was a great little column in the New Yorker (back when it was actually very good). NYC guy who played rec league wrote it. Every bit of it rang true. Best part - he wrote you could always tell when the girlfriends became wives - because you never saw them at games again. Absolutely effing accurate. Read it to the locker room and everyone roared.

I recall some Mondays in the fall were, well, long days. Language class at FSI at 7AM. Full day of work. Language class at another place from 6-9PM. Then, a game at 11:45. I remember laughing to myself as I drove home from the game - "well, I got every bit I could out of THIS day".

I know that this is a bit early for the Book Thread, but there is a great little book titled "From Barbarians to Bureaucrats" that walk through the stages of a kitchen table company to something like Boeing.

BRCC is trying to make the transition from Entrepreneur to Professionally Managed. Their idiot founder shot his mouth off because he is not a professional, and the "co-ceo" is the one left cleaning up the mess.

I never bought their overpriced product because I know grift when I see it, but someone in another forum said that recently they recently removed the silhouette of a rifle from the packaging.

This leads me to think that they are going after ESG money and the company is going to be making a transition.

Posted by: Dave in Fla

Naw. Gamma radiation causes Hulks.

Take this with a shaker of salt: I learned in Geology class in HS & college, last millennium, that the main ice age cycle is about 25,000 years, cold to warm to cold. According to those hard-to-argue-with geologic strata.

In recent years, I learned from Professor Internet, that cosmic rays (which the Fantastic Four got their powers from) are the main driver of cloud formation. Our sun produces cosmic rays and has its effect, but our solar system also cycles near a big cluster of stars, about every 25,000 years. Coinkydink? I think knot.

Also we are about half-way through the cycle, heading back to the ice side. But, all we have to do is change the orbit of the solar system in the galaxy. EZ PZ.

423 Well, I have reason to be pissed off tonight. Had a guy visit here a few weeks ago, who expressed interest in a couple of cars I have. I gave prices, and agreed they were in the ballpark, and he said he might have some buyer. Dude is a hot rod builder kind of like the TV guys, but on a much smaller scale. I have been to his shop, and he has some interesting stuff, too.

So....this afternoon, I get a call from a friend, and he asks, "What did you get for the Mustang and the Studebaker?" Me, "Nothing yet. There's a guy dickering on them." Him, "well, they were up on Fecesbook Maggotplace for $4900 and $700, or thereabouts." Me, "You sure they are my cars?" "Yep, your yard is very recognizable in the pics. But the ads have now been taken down." Which seems to be the case. I searched their car ads from my computer here, and didn't see my cars.

I'm not out any money, and still have the cars. I don't even mind if a guy buys them cheap from, and then turns around and flips them. But trying to sell shit you don't even own is a little shifty, if you ask me.

Overall commander - Ike. Under him, the service commanders were all British - Alexander, Tedder, Cunningham. For forces in action, Montgomery and Patton.

Tidbits. Interesting incident early on, where US paratroopers and crews of the only Tiger tank unit on the island had an impromptu truce and wine-drinking session in a farmhouse (!). Also, an ugly tidbit. Serious war crime (murder of POWs) at a small airfield, by US troops. Two US personnel court martialed, one acquitted then KIA in Italian campaign, one convicted but released quickly. Ugly.

Overall, and sort of responding to your comments when we first talked about this - Sicily actually was a very big deal, in various respects: first big Allied operation against Festung Europa, first opposed landing and biggest amphib op in history to that time, reason Hitler pulled the plug on Citadel at Kursk. US forces got much more seasoned, and rolled out their amazing logistics capability, which caught Montgomery's attention and of course defined the campaign after Normandy.

449 Fredendall caused less harm, and was part of the massive shaking out of US officers, Army and Navy, in 1942. Clark actually had the chance to do more damage - though the Italian campaign gets complicated, I think, and basically the geography meant that against a skilled opponent (which Smiling Albert was), it was a guaranteed meat-grinder of one kind or another.

But that's to be seen as I start my next book, same author as the Sicily one.

455 Actually Cicero Montgomery did fine in Sicily. Everybody - on the Allied side - had major errors and learning events. And as the book I just read emphasizes constantly, and I think accurately, the terrain there was simply made for defense, and also completely disadvantageous for the Allied strengths (mass, speed, mechanization).

Patton comes across as fairly paranoid and absurdly focused on unimportant matters, something I'll be remembering when I read his bios.

463 Oh, and Muldoon - something I had never heard of, the worst friendly-fire disaster of WWII for the US (not sure if the body count of the short-bombing at the start of Operation Cobra in Normandy was higher, but that was an operational mistake, different). Airborne drop near Gela on the 2nd or 3rd night (we had the airfield, it was a "permissive environment" drop). Idea was just to get more US boots on the ground, quickly.

When first ordered by Patton, relevant airborne commander (Ridgway) immediately and ceaselessly begged to cancel it, for exactly the right reason - friendly fire from US fleet and units ashore. It was a night drop, and C-47s in the dark are easy to mistake for Ju-88s. At last minute Patton and staff saw the light and tried to cancel, but too late. Was a slaughter.

According to Wiki (granted not the greatest source), Spielberg even has a 'lost' film, Firelight, which was his first official feature in 1964. Ironic that the Brit forces held the left flank of the beachhead during the Sitzkrrieg phase, and were probably best positioned to secure Rome while the Yanks in the center and right of the line could have pushed inland. But it turned into a big horse race to Rome. My dad spent a bit of time up in air (small observation plane) during that phase and described a lot of chaos on the ground . At one point he and his pilot landed and found an Army officer totally lost, returned to get a map and flew it back out to get the guy current info. Goodhan took me flying today. A "message to Garcia" sort of thing. A Lt of the 91 Recon was out on the point of II Corps advance and didn't know the situation. So he radioed for some help. Army turned the problem over to the Arty section and we sent Goodhan out to look. He buzzed a few towns trying to find out who owned them till he finally saw a jeep parked in Norma, a little town built right on the top of a 1000' sheer cliff. He found a cow pasture up there and landed (not an easy job). Sure enough - there was his Lt - with 2 or 3 men, and they were all between Norma and the Germans. Goodhan promised him a situation map and came back to the CP to get one. I went back with him on the second trip. As we circled the town to land the Italians started pouring out into the field. By the time we stopped rolling at least a couple hundred were gathered around shaking hands and raising a fuss in general.

I looked up Norma on Goggle Earth, it does sit on top of a cliff.

it got a lot right as far as playing the game goes. Certainly the one thing they got wrong, and all "poker movies" get wrong is the idea you can win at a given sit because you are better and you are worthy. Even the best players in the world hold a small advantage and have to deal with massive variance. But that wouldn't be much of a movie. Compared to the others, Rounders got a lot right.
The dumbest poker movies ever, and there were a few Western movies like this, made it seem like if you bet more than the other guy, he had to fold. That was easily the most absurd movie poker idea ever filmed. I think they did that in the otherwise fun movie, "A Big Hand for a Little Lady". OF course today the title alone would be cancelled.

It did, and Churchill decided to fly home. Everybody tried to talk him out of it. He prevailed, of course. He even took the controls for a while. They did have a bit of a navigation problem - due to weather, and were com___ from the wrong direction (appearing to from France) and caused Allied planes to be scrambled. Now, the Electric Universe theory posits a connection between the Sun and all the planets that causes, through a hysteresis effect, actual warming of the Earth and its atmosphere. This effect is affected by fluctuations that are shown by solar spots and flares

Just remember that we're Americans, so you hold that head HIGH and PROUD. Our heritage requires it, more so now than ever. We have a country to save as we've done in past scenarios.

Movies get everything wrong about gambling.

Craps table? You will have everyone yelling for a seven.

Counting cards at blackjack? You get The Hangover scene where they show a bunch of derivatives and integrals. It's just count +1 for 3,4,5,6 and -1 for tens. Then divide by the number of decks remaining. Also, in the movies you apparently never lose when you are counting cards. In actuality, you are getting maybe a 2% or 3% edge.

Poker? The two competing hands are usually four of a kind or better. That happens about once in every 5000 hands.

580 Someone sent him risk/benefit analysis done by Pfizer and known to the CDC. Whether this is really public or secret, I don't know. But someone, you might say a "whistleblower", likely in the CDC wanted Dr. Malone to see it.

A 12-17 yr old male is 3 -5 more likely to be hospitalized by a reaction to the vaccine than by Covid itself.

1 12-17 yr old female is 4 -5 more likely to be hospitalized by the vaccine than the disease.

Deaths. A 12-17 yr old male is 16% more likely to be killed by the vaccine that Covid itself. An 12-17 yr old female is 72% more likely to be killed by the vaccine than the disease itself.

There you go.

Based on that, I can now say without doubt that vaccinating anyone under 18 with the Covid vaccines is a criminal action. The risk to benefit ratio is well over 1.

Doing so with this knowledge is criminal.

Dayum. Thas a great big ole dose of reality for this time of the morning. Nonetheless, he speaks TRUTH.

Btw, the blackjack counts he speaks of are for single deck, or at best double deck. The more the decks, the less your counting card odds. At a 6 deck shoe, any potential odds in your favor disappear like candles in the wind.

even
that edge with Blackjack is extremely rare. You have to count perfectly
and even then it has to be with the almost extinct one deck. Most
counters do it imperfectly and they are dealing with 6-8 deck shoes.
But for some reason Casinos are very scared of them. That is odd because
9 out of ten of them are contributing to the haul. And really the
casinos love a winner, as it encourages everyone else.
Good
point about the 7. That is a huge cliche. Also even if you had a
slight edge at BJ on the casinos, 99 percent of people could not handle
the variance or have the bankroll to cover it. The biggest thing that
helps casinos is the bankroll. They can handle the variance and you
can't.

Posted by: Quint at July 18, 2021 01:50 AM (F2/Ok)

585 In poker, unlike other games, you are not playing against the casino. You are playing against the other players. In most casinos, the casino wins every hand, which is nice. They take the rake so they do not lose. In some casinos like in London back in the day, you paid an hourly rate. I forget if they had a rake but either way they got you. Even a small advantage would be crushed by the rake. One last thing, once you win a hand, you are expected to tip the dealer. When you lose, no one tips you lol.
I am not saying there are no professionals in Vegas that make a decent living. But to say the least, the odds are stacked against you. Some states allow private poker games with various laws. Sure, heads up, without the rake, tips, hourly charge etc, a very skilled player has a distinct advantage. But that is not the reality.

586 Anyway, today is all about sports betting and legal sports books. I am
not going after that with a ten foot pole. It doesn't help that the
sportsball has lost so much support in this country. It makes sense that
they are no down to pushing gambling to get people interested.

587 A couple of little known facts about Black Sabbath...

Lead guitarist Tony Iommi lost the tips of his middle and ring fingers at age 17 in 1965, as a sheet metal worker.

So he made himself some artificial fingertips, so his right hand could handle the frets. Ouch.

For their title song on their first album, Black Sabbath, Tony used a version of the Tritone, or "the Devil's Chord", as some priests in the Catholic Church referred to it. George Harrison had also employed it.

Let me amend that statement. Doing this without hard data that the risk to benefit ratio is much less than one is criminal.

Doing this with the knowledge that said ratio is greater than one is Herr Doktor Mengele level crimes against humanity.

She's here (born at 4:28p.m.)and she's beautiful! 9lbs 6 oz, 21" They named her Hailey Olivia

Daughter must've been all baby! So it's a good thing they didn't let her go more than a week past her due date. She had a bit of a rough time, the dialating went slow and she nearly passed out from the pain of the intense contractions from being induced. (She ended up having an epidural.)

Mom and baby both doing great. I can't wait to hold her! She will probably be released Monday. (Hospital rules, only 1 other person allowed in, obviously my son-in-law)
