Loudon School Board Ends Public Comment To Avoid Being Criticized by Parents Who Have Every Legal and Moral Right to Criticize Them, Then Calls the Cops to Arrest Them

Wow, even more "insurrectionists."

The government seems to be making more and more insurrectionists every single day.

Good job, government! Way to work out the math, Experts!

Concerned parents, who pay the salaries of the Loudon School Board, tried to tell the Loudon School Board to stop brainwashing their children.

The Loudon School Board did what every tyrannical leftist-controlled organization did: they called the cops and had the protesters -- here, they weren't even protesters; they had every right to attend the meeting -- arrested by their fellow government agents, the police.

BLM and antifa are given "space to destroy;" parents with a critique deemed "right-leaning" aren't even allowed to make public comments at a... public comment school board meeting.

The best part: They sent the cops to start arresting "insurrectionists" when the "insurrectionists" started singing an old white supremacist anthem.

Namely, the National Anthem.

As you can see, the official story is that public comment had to be ended because the parents were "unruly."
Oh, they were unruly?

Is unruly behavior now illegal?

It seems not:

BLM "protesters," who are definitely not insurrectionists, start an uncontrolled fire outside a South Carolina police station.

Weird, I don't see any arrests being made for the arson and terrorism.

If they had criticized school officials, I'm sure cops would have come charging on to the scene.

Via Not the Bee, this guy informs that no, he is not required to be polite and Validating to state officials when he's criticizing them for indoctrinating his children:

Remember, per the left -- per the Fredo Left -- leftwing protesters are not even required to be "peaceful," but for the right, we're demanded to treat leftwing tyrants as if they are the local aristocracy.

47 Listen, insisting on transparency is extremely threatening. There is no reason to be so insistent on this topic. We are elected by you. We represent you. We are trustworthy by definition as the elected agents within the context of a Republic.

We need to start a conversation about your distressing levels of distrust for those who's function is, by its very definition, public. Why insist on public comments and do things like make silly little FOIA requests? It's a distraction from our core mission. Your distrust is a distraction from our core mission.

There's no reason not to trust us. We are entirely honorable in our actions and intent, which is why we refuse to accommodate any mechanism for transparency or feedback. Your demands are nothing more than a disturbing manifestation of your own internalized, pathological trust issues.

I see a lot of people around me pissed off - and none of them are what I'd call remotely conservative. The media has lost their control and people are seeing what's up for real. Even a typical hardcore lefty doesn't want their kid to be wearing a dress and playing with transsexuals for recess. Yet, they're pushing at all fronts. We had a township board that was bound and determined to charge my church (at the time) for the cost of a future footbridge across a gully that was really close to the road, because the township had plans to, at some point, put sidewalks in. They wanted the assessment right now, for a project that was at least 5 years in the future.

Without a clear statement of *what* the issues were, they asked for a comment first thing. And after they closed the comment then they told us that they were going to do what they were going to do. So, it was staged so that they had the last word, and you couldn't comment on things that they had alleged in their statement.

Otherwise, you would have to have been a lawyer--or have done the job of one--to know exactly what the township was pursuing and their rationale for pursuing it.

Somebody, I need to ride past that stretch of road to see if they ever put sidewalks in.

The Sherriff of Loudon County must not be the brightest bulb around - you simple are not going to be able to tell the court that a public hearing - required by law to be public and thus allow for public comment, by the way - requires the arrest of citizens for doing just that, simply because their public opinions did not conform to what public officials wanted to hear. Even the liberal courts in VA will balk at this because they know how easily that shoe winds up on the other foot in America, and how easily these things get into appeals courts. 152 Civil disobedience is a thing, too.

Not to be argumentative but they shut down a public meeting because they did not like what was being said by the parents of kids in the school district. There was no violence or threats of violence, they simply shut it down because they lost control of the narrative and did not like what the public was saying. That is the literal definition of tyranny.

They then closed the meeting 2.5 HOURS early, because they did not like the comments.

The Venue was scheduled to be open to the public for that extra 2.5 hours... but they then closed that PUBLIC venue... you know, the one that belongs to the... oh... Public.

And instead of then just treating it as most other PEACEFUL protest in the US, ejected everyone and started to arrest.

He walked in with them and they told him not to, as he had to survive and bear witness.

We are heading down this path.

170 People lived a lot more in absolutes pre-20th century. We don't live in absolutes anymore. The popularity of the liberal sentiment in the 20th century, the appeal to an "open mind" made a virtue out of being willing to discuss something.

Thus most discussions are a matter of defining what is out of bounds. Which promotes understanding the full scale of possibilities by the boundaries of what cannot be.

That's why our conversations engage absurdities and extreme conditions. Nobody knows things exactly anymore (and my 20th-century bias suggests that neither did they). But as a result, we have to define what's in play by what is out of bounds or absurd.

Nuremberg made "just doing my official role" a non-absolute. But this is the scenario in which Godwin's Rule thrives. Because the Nazis are an almost universally agreed-upon boundary.

"Don't be Hitler" is a bedrock universal ground, that even people lying about it have to nod at.

There's been discussions for years that the way to stop coercive plea bargaining is for clients to refuse pleas and go to trial. Because the court system is not set up for that and, given speedy trial requirements, charges would have to be dropped to be reasonable or people would end up with charges dismissed due to lack of speedy trial.

Here's the thing though: that requires collective decisions by defendants and their counsel and your ethical duty is to your client specifically, not to the public interest. So, yes, saying reject and go to trial may be better in the aggregate but it's worse for your client so it's improper to suggest that.

220 >>When the police tell you talking is "disturbing the peace", you just have to shut up.

You see this is where these arrests get the local LE and DA into trouble, characterizing actions never contemplated or described in any ordinance as "disorderly conduct" - like those actions associated with just speaking your mind at a public hearing. Or "trespassing on government property" violations charged only because the elected officials in a public facility decided to cut off public debate in violation of law, thus somehow making those still trying to get their lawful and rightful public views heard now somehow trespassers.

I just can't see how these don't arrests don't get tossed by the county judge, if only because to allow them to proceed endangers these judicial grifters continued existence on the public dole.

239 The cops are like politicians, including Republicans: they will take the path of least resistance, and attacking the Right is the path of least resistance. Change that dynamic and the gross injustice changes. The 1/6'ers were made martyrs to scare people into compliance with the narrative. As a famous Russian Dissident noted, the terror would have stopped early on if evildoers with badges knew they might not go home to their families.

Posted by: Trump poisoned my cat at June 24, 2021 04:48 PM (N9BA5)

240 Let's imagine how this event could have played out differently.

What if a cop had stood up and addressed the crowd and declared that no one was being arrested for exercising their free speech. Then he advised the school board that they could depart the premises if they wished, and that the public could remain and continue their colloquy as long as it remained peaceful and until such time as the meeting had been scheduled to close.

Simple. All it takes is one strong and principled individual, one person who recognizes the preeminence of his American citizenship and his fealty to the Constitution.

Yes I was acerbic to Miley, yes I am mocking the notion of over the top politeness.....

no I do not advocate violence as any step in what needs done now.

CBD and I go back far enough he knows where I am coming from, the trolls here are getting more sophisticated and I am sorry but the rule of law is pretty fucking binary.

289 236 Because those "contempt of cops" laws are real, and are basically impossible to fight against.

Harry, tain't so. Most of those charges stick when attached to some other criminal conduct. By itself, police lose a surprising number of cases on 'contempt' of cop or usually something like failure to obey a lawful order of the police (some states call it obstruction of a police officer's duties etc.). Most disturbing the peace arrests if during a peaceful protest, when prosecutors see them are never prosecuted and judges dislike them too as most were written after Chaplinsky v. NH but Scotus has increasingly distinguished subsequent cases.

The major difference is the left has a legal network of lawyers to call upon for protests and the right has more or less either never went into the legal field and those that have never created such a legal network.

For a quick primer, look up former OSS agent and trainer, Rex Applegate's Kill or Get Killed. Also goes into basic hand to hand and self defense which Rex taught during WWII to soldiers. In his last edition of the book, Rex put his post war experiences in Latin America and advising those countries how to identify rioters and their command structure. Robert Heinlein in Take Back Your Government also has some advice in combatting Communists in public meetings as to their tactics.

Someone else who wrote on the subject was Col. Cooper of Gunsite fame.

There are many but most are just common sense.
Dress to fit in.
Be polite.
Applaud the speakers if there are any.
Walk around slowly as if you are enjoying yourself...and truth be told it is kinda fun.
Somebody is organizing it...find that person and start to follow them. Watch who talks to who, who gives orders, who takes orders.
Watch for someone trying to hear something with their earbuds.
See who has the cameras.
Just be tuned into the surroundings...be aware.

I never had any training, but from observation: most people in a crowd look relatively clueless, and just curious as much as anything. Anyone who goes from person to person with clear purpose, clearly selecting whom he talks with, is an organizer. The guys in the second row are the agents provocateur; they get behind women, children (if any), elderly people - in short, sympathetic people - and throw shit over them at the cops, hoping to provoke the cops to gong on the first row with their nightsticks. Someone standing at the periphery with a camera or other recording device completes the ensemble.
