The Saturday Night Joke

Three women die together in an accident and go to Heaven. When they get there, St. Peter says. “We only have one rule here in heaven, don’t step on the ducks!”
So they enter heaven, and sure enough, there are ducks all over the place. It is almost impossible not to step on a duck and although they try their best to avoid them, the first woman accidentally steps on one.
Well, along comes St. Peter with the ugliest man she ever saw. St. Peter chains them together and says. “Your punishment for stepping on a duck is to spend eternity chained to this ugly man!”
The next day, the second woman steps accidentally on a duck, and along comes St. Peter, who doesn’t miss a thing. With him is another extremely ugly man. He chains them together with the same admonishment as for the first woman.
The third woman has observed all this and not wanting to be chained for all eternity to an ugly man, is very careful where she steps. She manages to go months without stepping on any ducks. And then one day St.Peter comes up to her with the most handsome man she has ever laid eyes on – Very tall, long eyelashes. and muscular.
St. Peter chains them together without saying a word.
The happy woman says. “I wonder what I did to deserve being chained to you for all of eternity?”
The guy says. “I don’t know about you, but I stepped on a duck!”

Saturday night, The ONT should be lighthearted yet educational........

So let's start with this video.

AND MOAR LEARNING

***

It sounds like a morale problem in the City of Glendale, AZ.

Fiery accusations have now gone public against Glendale Mayor Jerry Weiers for harassing and threatening a Gila River Arena employee. It all came to light at this week's City Council meeting and it got extremely heated.

"He then told me to eat sh**t and die. My response was appropriate. It was, 'F**k you get out of my garage,'" said Robert Nejbauer, at Tuesday's City Council meeting.

Those words were all allegedly over leaving a parking garage. Nejbauer said he came to public comment to let the other council members know what Mayor Weiers said to him. Nejbauer said his job was to make sure people safely exit the parking garage, and after June 12 UFC fights, he claims Mayor Weiers started trying to go around cars to get out faster.

"He was going fast enough he would've rear-ended the people that were stopped in front of him. I yelled at him to stop and head out the north exit. He pulled up next to me, rolled the window down and said, 'Can the attitude. You don't want to get started with me.' Well, I said, 'You don't want to mess with me. Go out the north exit the way I'm instructing you,'" Nejbauer told the council.

That's when Nejbauer said he would call more security because the mayor was holding up traffic, and things escalated. "He then told me to eat sh**t and die. My response was appropriate. It was, 'F**k you get out of my garage,'" Nejbauer said. "I found out later from a hotel employee that when he got to the top of the ramp that [he said] the guy in the garage should be terminated. 'I'm the mayor. I was about to get out for my car and kick his ass,'" Nejbauer told the council.

Special Snowflakes given time outs so they don't melt.

Bumble, the dating app where women are in charge of making the first move, has temporarily closed all of its offices this week to combat workplace stress.

Its 700 staff worldwide have been told to switch off and focus on themselves.

One senior executive revealed on Twitter that founder Whitney Wolfe Herd had made the move "having correctly intuited our collective burnout".

Bumble has had a busier year than most firms, with a stock market debut, and rapid growth in user numbers.

The company announced in April "that all Bumble employees will have a paid, fully offline one-week vacation in June".

Ah the joys of youth and the opposite sex.

You've bin defeated! Two boys try to impress girls by attacking a trash can… but the teenagers come off worse when it 'fights back'

Two Russian teenage boys from Naberezhnye kicked a street bin to impress girls

The bin turned upside down and hit both of the youngsters, leaving them in pain

The two boys, 13, were sent to a local hospital - and the girls were not impressed

The Horde is excellent at solving the world's problems. Let's look at this one: Patron leaves incredible tip for server. Owner of establishment takes tip and splits it between all employees. Right or wrong?

‘I think the f*ck not’: Bartender’s $16,000 tip gets split, sparking debate
People are review bombing the restaurant.

An anonymous customer at a New Hampshire restaurant left a $16,000 tip on a $37.93 tab, but people online are outraged that the entire tip did not go to the server. “The waiter who did the work deserves ALL of the 16k,” one user wrote.

New vehicle prices continue to rise and rise and rise......

You may recall we reported on the average new car price crossing the $40,000 mark back in December 2020. However, Friday's forecast from J.D. Power is remarkable because December auto sales often show inflated dollar figures simply due to increased luxury vehicle purchases: Lexus' "December to Remember" and all that jazz. So for the average new car sold in June of 2021 to cost $40,206 is -- frankly -- ridiculous.

J.D. Power's June forecast showed the expected average transaction price will increase to the $40,000-plus figure, which will be a new record. The ATP is up by $1,667 from May of this year, the previous record by this measure. Vehicle prices, on average, are expected to be 15% higher than in June 2020, mostly due to automakers pulling back on incentives. There's no need to incentivize a car purchase with all the pent-up demand following the pandemic, especially with inventory squeezed by the ongoing chip shortage. Incentive spending will be down about 6%, or nearly $2,000, according to the monthly forecast.

Drug dealer playing hide and seek is tonight's Genius Award Winner.

Curious about where the average street dealer safely stores their stash?

Wonder no more!

A Florida Man whose rap sheet includes more than a dozen drug convictions was arrested last month after jailers discovered four “crystal rocks” of methamphetamine stored inside the defendant’s “penis skin,” according to an arrest affidavit.

Shaft Bang Adams, 30, was collared in mid-May for driving with a suspended or revoked license and booked into the Orange County jail on the misdemeanor count.

Adams, an Orlando resident, was familiar with the lockup owing to his 20-plus prior convictions for offenses like domestic assault; battery; possession of a controlled substance; delivery of cocaine; possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; false imprisonment; and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The part that I keep trying to not stare directly at for too long is the realization that not only did the Democrats and Republicans (and FBI) at the state and federal level work together to make sure everyone knew voting machines weren't connected to anything on the other side, and that EVERY failsafe was meaningless, but:

They intend to punish us - ALL of us - for our insolence in daring to reject their service and wisdom by voting for a pro-freedom / pro-American candidate.

It's why things have moved so quickly over the last five months, and we're just getting started.

Posted by: confederatefifth at June 26, 2021 08:58 PM (nBCCt)

47 "Owner of establishment takes tip and splits it between all employees. Right or wrong?"

Wrong. That's marxism. Destroys the incentive of your waiter to provide good service, since he can lay back while others do the work necessary to get the bigger tips.

Eventually, even the workhorses realize they are getting robbed and start slacking off. Customer service in general falls.

Same thing happened in the Soviet Union with farmers. Could have been the bread basket of Russia and instead they were starving.

Posted by: Hoyt's Paid Turkish Provocateur at June 26, 2021 08:58 PM (83lwH)

48 As usual it appears the news has got the story wrong. If the secondary reports are to be believed, *every* tip is split between staff. If that's the case, then the tip should go to all of them. If you got a piece of my 100 dollar tip a few weeks ago, why shouldn't I get a piece of your 16,000 dollar tip today?

If that's literally the way the place is run, then the story has been delivered this way ("owner" splits employee's large tip) to make people angry. An act of generosity becomes yet another source of division, anger and class strife. Shocker.

OTOH, the secondary reports might not be true. Moral: Don't believe anything you read, especially by a "journalist".

85 First make sure the clevis pin is removed. This is important. Then try in order, with moderate force:

1) WD40 or other penetrating oil to break the crud holding it together
2) small hammer to shock the crud holding it together
3) large hammer (ditto because clearly the small hammer was not enough)
4) acetylene torch to heat the receiver to break free the hitch from the receiver through unequal heating and expansion of the receiver and the hitch.
5) take off a corner of the receiver with an angle grinder to release pressure from a warped receiver
6) logging chain from the hitch to an immovable object, lock in the hubs, put it in granny-gear, ease out to where the chain is taut, rev the engine and pop the clutch.

Yup. My wife works for a federal agency. She is one of the few workhorses left. The other workers would go out of their way to pretend they didn't know how to do a thing because they knew she would swoop in and fix it.

Finally, even she was too stressed out. I said to her: what would happen if you didn't fix it? Would it be the end of the world?

"What do you mean? Let it fail? That's not - No I can't - I've never considered what would happen..."

Next week she did just that (painfully) and let a few projects fail. Her supervisor got his @ss reamed for missing deadlines, so he took the workload of 3 people away from her and spread it around. And she has been much happier since.

112 48 As usual it appears the news has got the story wrong.
Moral: Don't believe anything you read, especially by a "journalist".Posted by: ... at June 26, 2021 08:58 PM (Sq5xa)

Yeah if its more standard for that place then its going to be understood. Sucks for the guy that got the original huge tip and I don't think a place should do that in general. Be aware, be prepared, and remember that even if the best thing happens, it means nothing if you are not ready to take advantage of it. 176 39 Owner of establishment takes tip and splits it between all employees. Right or wrong?

--

I don't like it but, the owner can do what he wants right? Of course, so can the waitstaff and move to a place that rewards promptness, courtesy, and professionalism.

We went out for our anniversary yesterday. The waiter we had was fantastic. Made excellent suggestions and his service was top rate. I tipped him in cash.
Posted by: Tonypete
-------
Yep, cash directly to the server is what we normally do as well. But, we've talked to a few servers at some of our watering holes who have said the staff agreed to share tips by choice so we add those tips to whatever method we are paying with.

Who knows. Like I said, I don't agree with it unless its at a place where you get asshole customers on the regular that leave the change only or a Eurotrash.

But what I do know is that the one person whining about the owner paying employees "$2.13 an hour," is full of shit. And that is what all the rage is about it seems, not that the tip is split actually but the bullshit "living wage" liberal garbage.

209 Regarding the tip "scandal", I think sharing it around between the other servers and cooks is the best policy. The food must have been good, or the guy probably wouldn't have left a huge tip. Should the cook not get a share of the tip, then?

In the case of a huge tip like that, the first thing I would, if I were the manager, is contact the patron ask if he is certain that he intended to leave such a large tip. Maybe the guy was math challenged, and thought he was leaving $16.00, which would have been a large tip on that bill in any case.

Keep it up the maintenance and you can easily have it for another ten years.

There's way too much technology in new cars that simply is not going to be able to repaired or replaced in 20 years.

I've been driving a new rental car at least once a week for the last 8 months and while the fully digital/led dash is great in say a Jeep Grand Cherokee, there is simply no way you are going to be able to get a replacement for it 20 years from now if you need one.

241 My experience with Raspbian is that it's great as long as you use it exactly how the RPi Foundation expects you to, but go off the reservation and its very ugly very quickly. Stick with x86 if you care at all about third party software.

Also be aware that unlike x86, ARM software performance is *extremely* sensitive to whether or not it was compiled for the specific flavor of ARM that it's running on.

Length of chain, maybe six to ten feet, heavy weight, with a hole, so it can be shackled to chain. An old flywheel is about perfect. Hitch it all up. Wearing gloves, stand over the weight, and swing it from your arms, so that at the end of the arc, the chain pulls up tight. Delivers "hammer blows" to pull on the hitch.

It blows my mind that there's been no avalanche of class-action litigation against the donkey barn dictators and their spurious "emergency powers" that never end--if for no other reason than lawyers love money and there's lots of money to be made in getting people back to work. It's not like the single-plaintiff cases that went to court get shot down out of hand, either; they typically win albeit with a limited "you can be open, but not your neighbor" ruling.

As you say, very telling about the current state of affairs.

327 It blows my mind that there's been no avalanche of class-action litigation against the donkey barn dictators and their spurious "emergency powers" that never end--if for no other reason than lawyers love money and there's lots of money to be made in getting people back to work.

That's not how class action suits work. The more variability you have amongst the class members, the less of a class you have. There'd be no money in it because every member would have different damages, so each of those would have to be tried separately. Besides, the only way to get $ from the gub would be to prevail on either a takings or civil rights claim, neither of which is going to succeed. People have gotten certain orders/restrictions eliminated or modified, but you don't need a class for that. That's just a straight-up suit in equity.

337 Hello, horde!

Said goodbye to a friend's dog - good old Tommy, an ancient Lab who will be put to sleep on Monday. He's got a lot of medical problems and is suffering.

In his prime, Tommy was a klepto - he once stole my hairbrush and wallet out of my purse and hid them under his dog bed. He also liked to steal my friend's makeup bag and hide it. The best Tommy story was when he crept into the yard of the 80-year-old next door neighbor, who, lacking a clothesline, had draped wet clothing over her patio furniture. Tommy took her bra. The neighbor lady spotted him and came running out in her bathrobe, screaming in a voice to wake the dead "DAMN YOU, TOMMY, LET GO OF MY BRA!"

370 Most of the tow motor accidents I witnessed were because the idiot was driving with the load in the air. Speed was another factor, when taking corners. The load shifts, inertia does its thing and flings the product from the pallet.

Driving with the load in front of you, instead of in reverse would lead to sight problems. The final factor would be wonky hydraulics or a clutch that led to overcorrection or load-bounce.

Every rig was different and sometimes, I'd forget that I wasn't driving my usual sled. Even veterans can shake a load, especially if it is not taped or wrapped very well.

386 I recently started watching Last Man Standing. The first season had its weak episodes like the one where a woke prick is indictronating a toddler at the childvare center and the mom of the kid is pissed her dad "offended" the woke "teacher". But the rest of the season got much better, with a few episodes that were very funny.

Then I watched the first episode of the sevond season. It aired on Nov 2, 2012 tight before the election.

The damn thing is cringey and unwatchable. One of the woke daughters goes full retard about how great Obama was on and on. She repeated every single narrative spewed by the Left back then, including Traitor Romney's dog story. Of course, no mention of Benghazi.

It literally was propaganda. I find it hard to believe that Fox broadcast it.

The woke daughter just ruined the show for me.

A "funny" moment was when the woke daughter whines about a 1 billion dollar porkulus bill Bush signed in his term and a 9 trillion dollar national debt in 2008.

I said open out loud: "oh baby, wait till you see what happens in the future thanks to people like you".

I liked the show. It is certainly the only modern sitcom I have cared to watch. Sure they have some characters who are liberal and some who are conservative. It would get boring without some level of conflict. Is there another modern mainstream sitcom that shows conservatives without making them seem like simple punchlines? I can't think of an 80s or 90s sitcom that did that.

I do think the last season was weak. They did throw in some unnecessary wokism imo. I will have to check the episodes again, but for sure they were the weakest of the series. That is nothing unusual though, most really good sitcoms peak in the 3rd to 5th seasons.

To each his own. But you will never find a single Leftist that is a fan of Last Man Standing. Also, my favorite character was Ryan. He has the biggest character arc on the show. He wasn't so much in the last season, but that can be said of all of them. In the end, it was a pretty good show.

They might have rebelled and also simply had their own views, but in the end, they were heavily influenced by him. It shows with all the characters in the end.

430 I've seen robot tow motors stacking pallets of cans in 50 foot high bays one on top of another, 10 high, 10 wide, 30 deep. They do this autonomously but the robots have a slight flaw in that they don't know if the bays are going up straight. They just know to put one pallet on top of the other one correctly but they also don't know if a splinter sticking off the side of a CHEP pallet is just a 6-inch long splinter or the entire width of the pallet so they just keep on going up, not knowing the entire bay is looking like the leaning tower of piza.

Eventually, it falls down and makes one hell of a mess.

One thing he should have done was to use an oil can to put a good slug of oil into each spark plug hole. Lubricates the cylinders, and helps the rings seal, giving more compression to start. Really helps a lot.

And if he cannot find the right Ball & Ball carburetor, just about any updraft carb of similar size would work to get it running. And a machine shop could make a new lid for the bowl. The old lid looks like it was made of pot metal, and a lot of pot metal from the era just disintegrated from intercrystalline corrosion.

I am thinking, hey, I bought the parts for an ar, built it and it is working.

You are smelting ore and building machine shops with robots to build ars.

481 if you were not in canada where even illicit thoughts about ars get you in dutch with justin.

482 476 Switch to autogyros, then. They look like helicopters, but the rotor is unpowered and spins the other way, forcing air up rather than down.

This still provides lift. Physics is weird.

483 If you fuckup the closed tags it almost never carries through. So like you have the [/i} that will mess up your comment but not screw up anyone else. Same if you go with i/ instead of /i. I think only fully forgetting to attempt a close tag causes a barrelling.

TY buzzion. I just understood very little of that. Could it be the Merlot? Prolly not, I'm a techno-idiot because my wife is brilliant at this puter stuff so I don't learn much.

BTW, I know you're supposed to be dead, but when was your "death"? You've sure been commentating a lot for a dead dude.

492 AOP, I have a question for you...
is it still legal in Canada for individuals to purchase and own handguns?

I just read elsewhere that Canada's not as anti-gun as many believe...

Yes. One has to get a "restricted" firearms licence. Then you can buy and own a handgun, but the only place one can legally shoot is at an official range. You cannot carry one at all.

I am reading from a samsung tablet, so any suggestions on how to fix would be appreciated.
