The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

“Black people who were never slaves are fighting white people who were never Nazis over a confederate statue erected by Democrats because Democrats can’t stand their own history anymore.. yet somehow it’s Trump’s fault.” Jeff Laffite Jones

Quote II

“I think that is a really tough spot for him to be in. You already see some of the most fervent activists don’t want anything to do with him — almost like he is a traitor.” Craig Robinson, an Iowa-based GOP strategist

Quote III

“The American people should have absolute confidence in their President. They deserve to know that he or she can perform the duties of Head of State and Commander in Chief. They deserve full transparency on the mental capabilities of their highest elected leader.” Former White House doctor Ronny Jackson

Quote IV

"Spud is a really curious beaver and pays a lot of attention to photographers and human things,"Mike Digout

When you head into work you better be happy Dammit!

This may sound like something straight out of a sci-fi movie, but Canon has rolled out new AI cameras that use “smile recognition” technology to ensure that only happy employees are allowed into its offices.

Back in 2020, the China-based Canon subsidiary Canon Information Technology introduced an “intelligent IT solution” for corporate offices that includes 5 different functional modules, one of which is “smiley face access control.”

“In addition, based on the corporate culture of ‘moving and always being’, Canon has always advocated the concepts of ‘laughing’ and ‘big health’, and hopes to bring happiness and health to everyone in the post-epidemic era,” Canon wrote in a press release. “Therefore, in the […] intelligent IT solution, a new experience of smile recognition is specially incorporated. It is hoped that smiles can let everyone relax and get healthy, so as to create a more pleasant working atmosphere and improve efficiency.”

The Mayor of Silverton, Colorado is a piece of shit.

"Out Of Order!" Colorado Mayor Bans Pledge Of Allegiance, Then Snaps At Meeting Attendees Who Recite It Anyway

The Mayor of Silverton, Colorado snapped at attendees of a trustee meeting recited the Pledge of Allegiance in defiance of his announcement last week that it would no longer be allowed at the start of meetings due to "direct and indirect threats, inappropriate comments in and out of public meetings, and the general divisiveness this is creating in our community."

Payola in the radio business is illegal. Not so much in the government biz.

With recall looming, Gavin Newsom touts rent forgiveness plan ‘on scale never seen before in US’

With a looming recall election to weather, likely sometime in the fall, California Gov. Gavin Newson is touting a rent forgiveness plan “on a scale never seen before in the United States.”

This coming after the embattled Democratic governor announced the “Golden State Stimulus” back in January, which will provide $600 “rapid cash support” directly to roughly four million low-income Californians. And if that’s not enough free stuff, he’s also proposing to spend $2 billion to pay for unpaid water and electricity bills.

As a guy I'm saying the penalty doesn't match the wrong that was committed.

A Tampa urologist marked a patient’s right testicle for removal of enlarged veins and did the procedure on that testicle. But the September 2019 procedure was supposed to be done on the left testicle.

Dr. Raul Fernandez-Crespo has been fined $2,500 by the State of Florida Board of Medicine. The board also has issued a letter of concern.

Cows are to blame for problems past and problems presently.

How Cows Destroyed an Entire Marine Ecosystem in California
A researcher’s quest to understand a mysterious mass extinction leads to cud-chewing culprits.

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA’S BEACHES BUSTLE WITH year-round activity—tourists taking selfies, surfers waiting for the perfect wave, seagulls on the prowl for scraps. Beyond the surf, however, sand gives way to mud, and lots of it, on a narrow band of mostly empty continental shelf that stretches some 250 miles along the coast. Scavengers such as crabs and burrowing worms dominate this dull mudscape, which is often obscured by swirling sediment.

The culprit behind this wasteland? Cows, says Susan Kidwell, a paleontologist at the University of Chicago who made the surprising connection. A few years ago, Kidwell was sifting through seafloor samples from three sites near greater Los Angeles, looking for shards of fossilized shells under several inches of silt. She found pieces of older shells but, unlike the shells of burrowing clams present on the seafloor today, these fragments belonged to filter feeders such as scallops and brachiopods—an ancient group of animals sometimes called lamp shells—who filter nutrients out of the water column

The State of Connecticut has just helped increase their tourism draw.

After more than eight years of debate, Connecticut has legalized recreational marijuana.

The bill that Governor Ned Lamont just signed legalizes recreational marijuana for anyone over the age of 21 beginning next Thursday, July 1.

“It’s been a long time coming,” Lamont said.

No word if California will assist Connecticut with their pot biz.

(Bloomberg) — Getting cannabis regulations wrong comes at a high cost, as California’s $100 million fund to help floundering marijuana businesses has made clear.

The largest U.S. state earmarked money last week to aid companies that are struggling financially in large part because of bureaucratic delays and missteps in transitioning them from temporary licenses into more stringent permanent ones. It’s a cautionary tale for other states that are figuring out how to balance social-equity provisions, tax rates and competing with an illicit market valued at $66 billion last year, according to New Frontier Data.

Who knew? Pistachios were a huge business.

California Authorities Crack A 42,000-Pound Pistachio Heist

In the last few years, enterprising thieves have preyed on the booming $5.2 billion nut industry, with Alberto Montemayor the latest to be charged.

It was only because of an audit earlier this month that the Touchstone Pistachio Company realized what had happened. There were 42,000 missing pounds of pistachios to account for — with the bizarre heist meaning serious profit loss for the company. After only a day of investigation, however, authorities cracked the case.

Travel agents don't make the news much. Tonight's Feel Good Story of The Day.

Travel Agents Send Senior Veterans On The Ride Of Their Lives When Travel Plans Fall Through

Travel agent Julie Pflaumer helped arrange "one last hurrah" for a group of senior veterans.

Julie shared a video of the amazing experience and told the story of how it all came together in a Facebook post.

"About a month ago I received a phone call from a 90 year old gentleman named Jack in independent senior living in Florence, OR. Being from Wyoming and mainly dealing with locals, I was surprised to get a call from there. He had been speaking with his buddies who reside in the same facility about possibly taking a trip to the Reno Air Races this fall but didn't know how to arrange it all. A lady named Barbie who works there said, you gotta call Julie! She gave him my phone number. She found my travel agency on Facebook.

Some diehards wouldn't like it but it's an understandable and consistent position.

But he just had to spin it around like a stereotypical politician, so now he's discovering the public's increasingly actionable distaste for stereotypical politicians.

114 Pence doesn't get any sympathy from me.

Yeah, he was in a position that was unprecedented. Even Gore had to certify the election he lost.

But the level of fraud was also unprecedented. He knew that his choice was go along with the establishment or make a mark that would show the voters who had just been disenfranchised that he was on their side.

He chose the establishment.

So now he can live with that choice. If he didn't like the choice, he could have resigned prior to Jan 6th.

At the end of the day, the whole point is to respect "We the People", not all of the process that has been put in place. I hope he enjoys all those stupid coins he was given.

I use non-stick foil on my grill and broil. A little bit of olive oil spritz (not cooking spray) with some kosher salt and coarse pepper. Skin side down at first to get it almost crispy and easy to remove after flipping. Broil until the top side is slightly golden brown.

Justified is a great show. My favorite by far.

I agree with Hrothgar; Justified >> Bosch.

The problem is that the cops are an enforcement arm of the CITY, not representative of the laws and not representatives of the people who pay for them.

The dumbasses that use them as enforcers are destroying a lot of good will, and are pissing all over that idea of community policing.

DOJ can't bring them up at a trial because the evidence against them to justify the treason or sedition charges they brought can't be produced, so the prosecution seeks delay after delay to make up for the fact that, in the end, every single one of these defendants is going to walk out with at most a misdemeanor offense and a $500 fine. They are already pretending for the press that they forced plea bargains to get these reduced charges...but reality is, they had to dump the charges down or face humiliation - its was the defense that forced their hand, not vice versa. I expect a lot of civil suits to follow this...brought in states outside of DC court jurisdiction.

Are either of you looking forward to the re-cut of Let It Be in August, titled The Beatles Get Back?

I found out it was originally supposed to be a movie but will now be a miniseries. Peter Jackson took the hundreds of hours originally shot by Michael Lindsey-Hogg in 1969-70 and turned it into a nostalgic look back, whereas MLH did a movie about the band breaking up.

IMHO the miniseries, if it wants to be more than just Beatlefluff, should show both the good and bad of what was going on then between Paul and John. (George and Ringo, as I understand it, were pretty much just bystanders.)

See, that was my initial reaction. And I imagine there are a lot of people who do take the line of "Walt wasn't a bad guy, he was pushed into being a drug dealer by the facts of life."

But that's never been my interpretation. Walt is not, in my view, a milquetoast guy. Without spoiling anything for those who haven't seen it, there is a lot of pride and rage below the surface, and the opportunity to deal drugs provides an avenue for that to come to the surface and then destroy him and those around him. He didn't *have* to be a drug dealer; there were other options he could have pursued to deal with the problems facing him. But he didn't, because he wanted to prove he was better and smarter than everyone else.

That's why I think Breaking Bad is, in a way, a quietly conservative show. It's not really about a man being destroyed by a cruel society, it's about a man being destroyed by (deliberately) making the wrong choices.

My hunch is, a big fat NO. Among other things, network execs would have been demanding Walt be made more lovable all the time, and also probably insisting on inserting SJW themes in the show. ("Can't the rival sellers all be working secretly for the KKK?") :-P

340 I'd say Breaking Bad not only never works on network television, but worse, doesn't work on cable pre-Sopranos either.

There was huge pushback against Soprano's s01e05 ("College") where Tony ends up skipping out on Meadow's campus tours after he accidentally spots a guy who turned state's evidence years earlier and entered witness protection.

HBO execs were not happy about David Chase and company abandoning the plausible deniability of Tony's darker nature so early in the series.

The scene with Ralphie? They showed it because it points to him being abused as a child. That's why he's the kind of monster that can beat his girlfriend to death with out remorse. And because he is that monster, Tony can kill him and cut his head off. This way Tony isn't just killing a guy with his bare hands, he's slaying a monster.

The whole show is about humanizing a murderous sociopath until the audience is complicit in his crimes because they are rooting for him.

428 I spent a night in Silverton, but have long since forgotten the name of the hotel. Main St., two story, well over 100 years old. I'd ridden in from Albuquerque, after checking out a Gold Wing rally there. (started out from San Antonio, spent a night at Cloudcroft NM and another in Ruidoso, en route.)

About 50 miles short of Silverton, I pulled the bike off into a turnout, intending to change my tennis shoes for my Trooper Boots, as it was chilin' down right quickly. Thing about altitude? My feet had swollen to where I couldn't get into the boots. Cold footed it in to Silverton, got checked in, and after a long, hot shower, got dressed to walk around the block for dinner. And it was about a 10 minute struggle per foot, to get the damn boots on.

Guess I'd adjusted to the altitude a bit overnight, as it was only a 2 minute struggle per foot, to get 'em on again. But, riding the Million Dollar Highway up and over to Ouray was spectacular, and worth the bother.

Silverton, though? Not the friendliest locals I've met anywhere, not by a long shot.

There was a big rivalry between Ouray and Silverton. One sponsored a development called Red Mountain City and the other sponsored one called Red Mountain Town (both long gone now). They were competing to see whether the mined silver would be shipped south to Durango or north to Montrose.

477 Yeeah, Jim Sunk. Silverton's selling point is that it's the southern anchor of Red Mountain Pass and the Million Dollar Highway. That's a road I don't relish tackling what with macular degeneration and all. Posted by: Muldoon at June 22, 2021 10:50 PM (Fc5rx) ~ I've driven that road once, from Ouray to Silverton. It was hard to see on some parts for all the snow. Which I wasn't expecting in July. Posted by: Blanco Basura - moronhorde.com. Not insurgents, counterrevolutionaries. at June 22, 2021 10:54 PM (SchxB)

Mine was a July ride, but was absolutely Chamber of Commerce weather, all the way. After clearing Ouray, the ride continued through Grand Junction, into Utah and onto The Loneliest Highway in America. Across Utah and Nevada, Reno and up to Tahoe. Then to San Jose, and the Pacific Coast Highway, to San Diego. Few days on a friend's sloop, then to Las Vegas for a family reunion. Parked the bike in Vegas, flew to Boston for 3 days of meetings. Flew back, resumed the ride (Grand Canyon), then on through Phoenix and I-10 the rest of the way to San Antonio. 4-1/2 week ride, and everything after ABQ was a solo run.

496 On my first ride-all-around Colorado on a motorcycle, it was the end of May, and I had ridden across RMNP's Trail Ridge Road, then down the western zigzags, over through Winter Park, then up past Dillon and it started to rain.

The rain continued as I ran up some curvy mess, a back road up to Leadville, which is at 10,000 feet. It was 37 degrees when I checked into a crummy motel.

But the next day dawned clear and cool, and I went south to Twin Lakes, then up over the Independence pass, where I got lucky to follow a work dump truck all the way down the western side. When you ride a bike, you go where you look, which makes looking at the terriffic guardrail-free scenery dangerous. Having a big loud leader in front of you gives you a steering target you can hear and readily see with your peripheral vision as you look left and right.

Same thing happened later in the week when I went over the 550 from Durango up over the passes and through Silverton and Ouray. The ride down off the pass to the south of Silverton, a spooky twistie, I had another CODOT dumper in front of me.

The best segment of that 5 day run was along CO 92 NW of Gunnison.

Can't argue with you, AOP.

I realize the NHL isn't perfect -- they dabble in wokeness. But the game itself is still pretty much the same as it has been for decades. And during the playoffs, guys give EVERYTHING they have. Refs for the most part don't call bullshit penalties. Guys don't flop trying to draw penalties. And one of the greatest traditions in sports is the full team handshakes after a series has concluded.

That's cause it ruined him all the way and his political chances are negative numbers. Otherwise he might have been able to fool some people into thinking he was some milder form of fighting conservative and his presence would prevent other better candidates from coming forward.

Pence has ALWAYS been a squish gope. Always. It's why he was paired with Trump in the first place to placate those very types.

And he did a remarkable job and kept from stabbing too many in the back (altho i think we'll find out he had more to do with some of the leaks than people think)

Maybe it was more of a good rivalry thing and everyone doing their part to embellish when appropriate. I just remember the Blues, Blackhawks, Redwings, Avalanche, etc., being a little loose with their dives when playing one another. Lots of slippery ice at key moments.

I suspect high definition tightened things up when players realized non-penalties could be seen crystal clearly after the fact, and I will grant you that basketball and soccer players don't seem to have even a tenth of the shame hockey players do.

553 Russian TV, unsurprisingly, has "ads" commemorating WWII, talking about specific battles and campaigns, under the theme "We Remember". Nice. They are sort of the equivalent of "public service" ads here, I guess (though here they would usually be some obnoxious hectoring about some unimportant or entirely fake "problem").

But the russkis are staying full-stupid on C19. Moscow and a few other regions resuming some lockdown nonsense, like closing restaurants. And, of course, they're leaping on the "passport" concept, via smartphones, to show vaccination status. But these are the grandkids and great-grandkids of those dug the White Sea Canal and obeyed their betters for decades, so, no shock there.

The contrast with the well-informed and rational response of most Americans is heartening. No, wait ...

583 Sputnik V vaccine was a dead virus (non-mRNA) similar to the J&J vaccine, but it requires a secondary booster shot (slightly different strain) unlike J&J. It seems reasonably effective, probably significantly more effective than China's Sinovac, but I wonder how much of that has to do with production and distribution rather than the underlying technology.

Anyways, yeah, looks like Russian and China are barely above 10% vaccination rates today, whereas the US is over 45% and quickly approaching 50%.

590 Muldoon correct, the mainland was the big show - but the German command I don't think had ceded Sicily, in any sense. Remember this was the first opposed landing against Axis forces, in Europe. Allies weren't taking it lightly, and Berlin certainly would have preferred a stronger showing in Sicily.

The invasion was Hitler's reason/excuse to pull the plug on Kursk, and units were immediately dispatched west.

And that's for other books still on the list, but I think it's fair to say the Germans actually were never defeated in Italy. They held strong positions when the final whistle blew (those forces actually negotiated an end a few days before Jodl flew to Reims).

Fully 20% failed to catch it. That was a number of years ago, maybe in the late 80s and that prompted them to call for much better monitoring. They have automated systems that are supposed to catch the really deadly stuff.

Experienced aviators have often seen the grounds in question, in far more detail than any map can provide.

USMC knows this, and rotates veteran Combat Pilots through tours as Combat Control Operators. Essentially, your FAA tower controller, but calling in planeloads of munitions vs. planeloads of passengers. At much steeper approaches and departures far more disturbing than a "noise abatement" turn.

USAF Combat Controller is similar, but not an aviator, but rather, a USAF puke, with top math and IQ AVSB scores, who they've lent to the Army to put through Ranger School, and then teach the finer arts of the Combat Control world of the computers, datalinks, radios and radars.

Advantage, USMC. Nothing like knowing the battleground yourself, from both the air & ground view.

Speaking of tongues dragging the floor, that reminds me of a funny one. I was in my late 20s, I think. There was little "general store" and hot dog joint where my father would eat lunch. Big crowd of the locals there, sort of gang where we'd all each lunch and hang out and shoot shit. Many were retired, dirty old men of course.

Owner of that joint was big at a local golf course, and his wife ran than the joint most of the time. Well, one fine day at lunch with the gang all there, this little hottie came in. She was in a bikini, having just been at the golf course country club pool. She had to see the wife for something.

Well, silence descended as we all drooled. After she left, the wife shouted, "Hell, even your tongues were hard! You couldn't talk!".

641 Thanks for that song, it brings back memories of a girl I knew in High School, it was our love song. Where have you gone Elizabeth Greene? She was this small Jewish girl, Mediterranean with that dark olive skin. And she was angel to me when I needed it most.

It only lasted a year but it was beautiful. I should have tried harder to make it work. I remember going to visit her at her college a few years later. You know how for certain women, everything comes together for them in their mid-twenties? She looked like a Goddess.

If you're lost you can look and you will find me
Time after time
If you fall, I will catch you, I'll be waiting
Time after time

I had almost forgot her. I was lucky to have known her. And that was our song. Thanks.

Well, you'll have to start taking hormones, and testosterone blockers. You might sprout some titties, but they won't be much, so's you'll need some bolt-ons.

Then you'll want to get your nuts cut off. Won't need T-blockers then. Then, they'll take your dick and slice and dice it and create a Frankencooter, a surgically created vulva out of your sliced up dick.

They'll try to create a vagina, but may not have enough tissue. So you'll either have a short hole, or you can opt to have some of your sigmoid colon cut out, and repurposed for a vagina.

I'm worried they will wrongly keep that list secret because they fear America finding out the extent of treachery would be as devastating as discovery alien visitors (would destroy the culture, same way Spanish did to Aztecs).

But it needs to be released publicly. I don't care if turns out Limbaugh was a Chinese operative all that time (I don't think he was, I'm just using that name to make the point that many of the names will be a shock to us)

I'm trying really hard to understand how 33% of your fellow immigrants are spies ...and you don't know? Or you do know and you don't tell anyone?

Then again, who would you tell? The FBI? LOL nope.

I've posted this before, but to recap. DIA conclusions from Chicom defector.

WuFlu virus leaked from Wuhan Lan in August 2019. Chicoms couldn't contain, and decided to intentionally spread it to the rest of the world. Make us all take the hit, and try to maximize damage. Chicoms were modelling and war-gaming the damage it could do.

You can be sure the lockdowns and hysteria were all pushed by their spies and traitors to maximize the damage we would do to ourselves.

Defector also claims there is a secret "effect vaccine or treatment" the Chicoms have for it. And they use it on their own party elites.

709 "Defector also claims - "

Didn't you also post earlier that China is currently trying to create a naturally occurring bat variant of Covid to plant in the wet market as a fake patient zero? Or something like that.

Posted by: Hoyt's Paid Turkish Provocateur at June 23, 2021 03:00 AM (83lwH)

710
Yes, that is part of the defector info. CHicoms are trying to retroengineer a fake chain of bat to human transmission.

One of the papers out on this, showing this was an engineered virus says that as well, that they are seeing evidence of fakery and fraud going on in the Chicom virus sequence databases.

Posted by: publius, Rascally Rapscallion of a Poperin Pear at June 23, 2021 03:02 AM (Mzdiz)

711
There is another paper out there, some virologist here in the US, that found evidence of *vaccination* in Chicom national blood samples as early as Dec. of 2019.

They publish this shit, and let that slip through.

They also let slip that the first (that we know of) WuFlu patient in Wuhan was a 61 yr old woman who fell ill on Sept 29th, 2019.

The virus was out and circulating worldwide as of Oct. 2019.

They are focusing on methods to attack the West in ways that would not justify a counter-strike.

It's the same tactic we will see with gun confiscation. They will not risk a Boston Massacre. It will be more like the Fencing in Wild Hogs parable. By the time we realize what is happening, it will be too late to act.

It's getting late, but this is my own synthesis of all the information I've been reading. Wuhan lab was doing bioweapon research. CHicoms tricked and compromised us into giving them the expertise, knowledge, and some funding to do this (Daszak, Baric, et al).

Spike protein is the "weapon component". They were grafting it onto various and sundry bat viruses they had to see what it would do. That is, the spike protein is a bioweapon component to optimize the ability of a virus to infect human cells. Sars-Cov-2 virus was one of those Frankenviruses.

They had an accident at that Wuhan lab which infected their own personnel and let it get out in the local population.

IOW, Sars-Cov-2 was just a test of how well the spike protein allows some bat virus to be able to infect human cells. The real bioweapon would be some deadly virus backbone with the spike protein. Sars-Cov-2 is not a real bioweapon, just one of the test viruses in the spike protein program.

They had an accident. They decided to make lemonade out of those lemons.

It could be intentional from the get-go, mind you. That's a possibility as well. The idea would be to release something that was not "obviously" a bioweapon. Something to do great damage, but not some 90% fatality virus you would think a real bioweapon would be.

My dearest Miley asked me just this afternoon what I would do if I had the power. Well, I think I would be "calling in airstrikes on my own position" right now. The call of "Broken Arrow", meaning American forces are being overrun by the enemy from some movie I remember would go out.

And "airstrikes" would include neutron bombs and shit. I would call in a SMOD level attack on Washington, DC. I would have EMP and neutron warheads being fired on Big Tech infrastructure.

755 Publius, I think the empowerment of DIA by GWB during the beginning of the War on Terror was the genesis of a lot of problems.

The total incompetence of our vaunted "IC" necessitated that decision in wartime, with no other choice given the task at hand, and these preening bureaucrats resented it so very deeply. The pain it caused in their pathetic microballs turned them from inept losers to outright hostile actors, attacking the civilian government that shunted them aside from every direction they could.

I think that was the moment when the CIA and FBI went completely rogue and passed the point of no return. It's them or us, now.

756 The story about the urologist is not as bad as it sounds. He didn't remove the wrong testicle, he removed the enlarged veins on the wrong side. It's not unusual to have varicosele ( varicose veins within the scrotum) on both sides, and, in general, the condition is not serious. When the mass of enlarged veins reach a certain size, it can become dangerous, thus the surgery.

The patient is just going to have to have it redone, on the correct side, hopefully by a different surgeon. :-)
