It's the story of a girl looking for her scientist father who has disappeared under mysterious circumstances, and of the history of scientific research into electricity and magnetism from William Gilbert in the 16th century through to Thomas Edison. It's the first time I've seen a simple explanation of the Curie point of ferromagnetic materials - never mind in anime, in any medium - and also the first time I've seen characters of a story construct a stable time loop using nothing more than whipped cream, sponge cake, and a magnetised needle stuck through a cork. Time travel aside, the historical and scientific elements of the story are accurate to the best of my knowledge. Not so sure about the cake parts, which get about as much screen time as the other elements. There's also a scene where a defibrillator is used properly and under appropriate circumstances.
Today it's the 5700G which also isn't out as a retail component but is available in prebuilt systems. This model has 8 cores and 8 graphics units, up from 6 cores and 7 graphics units on yesterday's 5600G. It's not a lot faster for gaming than the 5600G - less than 10% on the integrated graphics - so you'd only want this if you want a high-end CPU and passable graphics. I'd be interested in seeing it tested with faster RAM; you can get DDR4-4000 memory for not much more than standard DDR4-3200, and that should give quite a boost to integrated graphics. Disclaimer: Break glass in case of stable time loop caused by broken glass. Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

Speaking of Windows 11, if you wanted to get the leaked preview it's being taken down. (TorrentFreak)
Unsurprising, and you probably didn't wat it anyway. I have installed and configured Windows 10 a few times, but I'm still using Windows 7 at home, along with Linux. I had to create a Windows 8 virtual machine on VirtualBox just so that I could run TurboTax this year. Posted by: Mente de Caca at June 20, 2021 02:28 AM (wiMhy) 13
Google is reportedly force-installing a Bat Plague tracking app on the devices of Massachusetts residents. (Bleeping Computer)
I despise Google but this is not illegal if users have enabled the setting for automatic updates. It would be if that setting is disabled though. Scummy move regardless, and certainly politically-motivated. Posted by: Mente de Caca at June 20, 2021 02:33 AM (wiMhy) 14

Posted by: sock_rat_eez at June 20, 2021 02:46 AM (wHoql) Early versions of Photoshop (PS 4 and 5) had some badass plugins that never made it to later versions, like Kai Power Tools. I used to have a VM just to run those plugins. Unfortunately PS4 was unstable as hell when it loaded too many plugins. So I had to select and disable quite a few before running PS. if an anime can explain the Curie point better than most textbooks in a world where raw data can be "adjusted" before publication, science is not yet dead, but it is very, very ill.

Does this mean the Walmart Greeter will demand to see my Vaccination Certificate (tm) ? I may just create one in PaintPro for the lolz. The fine print could be fun... Or will it be the Receipt Checkers? I always hated that concept. I know it's to prevent shoplifting, but you just watched me buy everything from 10 feet away, and now we are going to pretend it's necessary to check me to make sure? Grumpy Fen is grumpy. Now that I'm in vent mode, I also hate the drivethru's that make me repeat my order when I get to the pay window. I mean, you are literally the same person who just took my order over the speaker AND repeated it back to me. Like 10 seconds ago... Obviously my life is mostly stress free, so I get to focus on REALLY IMPORTANT PROBLEMS these days.
...like the cup holders at McDs. Who's bright idea was it to make them out of weak cardboard that goes limp and wobbly at the first hint of condensation? Do they not realize that 20oz drinks condensate? Did they even test it? Same with the cheap 7-11 bags. Some guy shaved materials off each bag so he get net 0.00000001 cents per bag, and my treats are now rolling all over the parking lot. Sometimes the bag rips before the cashier hands it over LOL. These people are all being moved to the top of my bucket list. "Fen, Marxist spotted, 2 o'clock, 400 meters..." The passage is from the psalms and can be found of the left hand side of the linked page: https://www.upperroom.org/devotionals/en-2021-06-20 May the Lord also be with those who are remembering and missing their fathers and husbands today because of death Posted by: FenelonSpoke at June 20, 2021 04:27 AM (k39e/) 46

Ok cool. Just trying to mind my manners. Still dosmesticating. BTW how do you tell if a thread is to old to comment on so you avoid the auto-ban? Remember how my compy slowed down and the UPS failed? Well, I replaced the hardware component and upgraded to (shudder) Win10. That still didn't fix the problem and I was getting normal readings on the hardware, so I ran an AVG Deep Scan with alllllz the boxes checked, including "Fix and Repair Problems Found." Voila, compy is working fine....
for a week. I dig into the Deep Scan report, and find not one "decompression bomb," but FIVE. They're (supposedly) old downloads of Radeon updates, and they don't seem to be compressed files, but my graphics card is still working after I've run scans and deleted 11 of these files. Unfortunately, I've got a folder full of these things. Very tempted to permanently delete anything pre-2020 and that isn't labeled for the latest update in that folder.....
