This strikes me as sort of a thematic opposite to Wyeth's "Day Dream:"
https://is.gd/kAVhaF (warning: do not post on old threads) In that one, it is a dream-like depiction of a nude sleeping woman, idealized and idyllic perfection drawn from the front. This one is a more-realistic depiction of a sleeping woman, from behind, with great detail but little description. Only the feet are exposed. The environment is not some ideal - just a narrow bed with a pile of laundry on the floor behind it. It is the opposite of idealized idyll. It makes for a neat juxtaposition (in my mind, anyway - but I'm just a Moron so don't read too much into it). Posted by: Joe Mannix (Not a cop!) at June 24, 2021 08:54 AM (Jsjd7) 56

Congrats to CBD! He managed to find the least objectionable Freud painting in existence. For once, the scene isn't so nasty and the viewer can look at the brush stroke technique and color schemes he used to achieve his effects.

96 I like how the embiggening of the work really brings out the texture of the brush strokes. The strokes enhance the forms and give them a solid-ness.

The Riksmuseum has been working on Rembrandt's "Night Watch" for the last two years. Years ago the painting was physically cropped (a la scissors) when the huge painting was moved to another building and some shit for brains LOST the trimmed off sections. The stories of the last few days detail how the museum has used AI and other technical means to return the painting to it's original look. The process also lets the restorers correct other problems that have developed with age and human caused damage.

Apparently, Annabel is one of Lucian's daughters.
"The body is curled up in the fetal position, which can be interpreted as a reaction to a physical or psychological trauma. Representing his sleeping daughter like this, Freud may be suggesting that he is a helpless observer of her mental and emotional pain." "In his paintings, Freud demonstrates a tangibility of humans - be it their emotional pain and struggle, or be it naturalism in depicting of their bodies. This tangibility of Annabel is shown in a brute physicality of her feet. The artist emphasizes small details, like motion of muscles and texture of the skin. He de-idealizes the human body, breaking with the tradition of representing a female figure as a beautiful and flawless object, and insists on the corporeality of all bodies." https://tinyurl.com/yzwkep78 Posted by: Tami at June 24, 2021 09:14 AM (cF8AT) 155

Clearly the sinkhole is the fault of DeSantis and Trump. The only question is: were the residents primarily white or minorities? If white, they deserved it. If minority, DeSantis allowed the sinkhole on purpose to kill them.

One would say at a minimum what Zhou was saying was "I will use everything at my disposal up to and including (the federal) f-15s and Nukes."-This is not a great gigantic logical leap of faith tiger. The implied (not stated) policy of the United States of America regarding foreign enemies is no first strike. Evidently Zhou is more excited at the prospect of waving his WMD wang at us than foreign powers. Zhou like Urkle tacitly states that the US would *never* use nukes on a non nuke opponent. Evidently he would consider the necessity of them to try to thwart the federal government though by Americans which would imply he considers ANY resistance by ANY level of weaponry by US citizens to be the maximum escalatory endeavor in the sense that the super state would consider it a "war of national survival." This is not a sane party and it is not led by a sane man. Posted by: sven at June 24, 2021 09:30 AM (Lzpvj) 228

when do the bank bailouts begin because of all the defaults on the loans for these buildings?
Posted by: Tami at June 24, 2021 09:21 AM (cF8AT) This is simply another scheme to impoverish small landlords using the same logic as Obamacare resulted in far fewer individual and small medical practices by raising costs for them. This is also similar to the effects of the Covid lockdowns on small business retail and restaurants. The left hates and fears small business for the most part because the amount of profit and value is insufficient to maintain deadbeat leftists for long. By making the landlords bear the costs, it will result in fewer such small owners while larger establishments will put the costs on the remaining solvent tenants. How could obtaining an alternative save them money? You can get 48 cans of tuna on amazon right now for $37 and that is not cheap. But you could make 100 sammies with that. I'm sure you could cut the cost in half or more by buying in bulk like chains do. I don't understand why anyone would even screw with it. Throw in 75% sawdust to make a little more money? "Gun sales are thru the roof with first time buyers and the majority of them women (IIRC)."
That follows. A disproportionate number of women count on the State to be their man. They heard a bump in the night that sounded like Antifa and asked Uncle Sugar Daddy to go check outside. He declined. So they are waking up to the realization that they can't depend on the State to protect them from rape and murder. I wonder if that will be reflected in 2022 voting. I remember (Willie Horton?) being pleasantly surprised at how strongly the female demographic responded to rising crime. Do women keep an eye on that subconsciously?
