This was trying to find more ways to use 700X, not a bad powder, but one I picked up during the last panic, not all that useful for my purposes. Haven't looked since returning, to see if I might add/reduce the charge - but I am shooting for the 15.3K PSI level that the formula says is ideal for 12 BHN (right pressure to obturate).

Only 45 Colt I have is a Model 1866 repro, toggle action, sticking with sub-15K PSI loads for that one, and plated bullets. 700X works for some loads for that, of course, but was the dirtiest/least accurate in tests I did a while ago.

I have found in my reloads that neither 700x and Titegroup are the greatest powders with heavy cast boolits aka 230gr in 45 ACP or 158gr in 38 Special. I switched to Hodgdon's Universal as a substitute for heavier cast lead bullets because it shot cleaner and used light to mid weight plated or fmj bullets for both Titegroup and 700x. My guess is that the flake nature of 700x could be a bit spiky on pressure using heavier bullets and I know that Titegroup is such a powder.

On such powders, it is often difficult to get the pressure up without exceeding a given cartridge's limit enough to burn cleanly using heavier bullets. I think both prefer mid range to lighter cast bullets for a given cartridge.

362 I understand, I used up my 700x which I bought during the earlier 2008 but as I shoot a lot at indoor ranges, I dislike smoky loads that both lead and make gun cleaning a chore. Universal has done pretty well and I have some of the newer reformulated Unique that I use for reduced rifle loads for milsurps along with Accurate's 5744. Unique has been around so long that most older more obscure military rifles have had reduced gallery loads developed for it in the past.

Higher educational systems have essentially been given some sort of super moral status that defies the market rules everyone else plays by.

The colleges and universities got the kid of a potential rich donor or famous celebrity and the families involved got their kid into a dream school. You could say that some other kid didn't get in because of that, but that's kind of like saying that Walmart sold out all its TVs to the highest bidders and Joey Empty Pockets over there missed out. Sad, but not illegal - only in our University system is that considered illegal.

But if the NCAA got shot down counting on living outside the competition rules, what about the rules applying to getting poor kids into colleges or universities?

I just watched that a couple of nights ago. Free on amazoid right now.

One of my favorite stories I heard on the horrors of making that movie was when they had finally secured the money for the thing, and were well into production when they were told the execs had to see what progress was made. So, they show up at the theater, and start the show The horrible tempra painted background and the bad French puppet bouncing around saying "Sacrebleu!"

One of the execs exclaimed "My God, they've fucked us!" That of course wound up being the intro. I love the fact they totally trolled the execs - and the audience. Talk about payback I too had a "Oh fuck me" moment when the show first started.

The guy who does the videos for Lucky Gunner, the ammo vendor, interviewed CCI/Speer's two top self-defense ammo guys. Very interesting. Well worth it for anyone interested in caliber wars, bullet design, and gelatin testing methods.

Lucky Gunner guy does generally an excellent job with his videos. Part of it is that he's so articulate in his presentation, something seen less and less in every part of society for years. Recommend any gun nutz peruse their video list for topics of interest.

Recently, I have had to step outside of my usual domestic powders for rifles and am trying both Norma and Vihtavuori powders (not the double based ones).

409 I think Maxam is the Spanish company, whig. Their other powder one sometimes sees, at least since the 2013 panic sucked in all those Euro powder and primer makers, is labeled CSB-1 in the US. I think they ship in bulk and US vendors package in 5-lb jugs. It's all gone at the moment, of course. But CSB-5 = Universal, for reloading purposes. I actually have a jug of Universal as my next "back-up" powder, so happy with the CSB-5 and its versatility that Universal seemed like a good general back-up. Also have an 8-lb'er of HP-38 in strategic reserve.

448 422 Rhomboid, never used Solo but I think it was one of the imported Euro shotgun powders that Accurate sold. The one negative about Accurate powders was that they sourced quite a bit of their powders from Europe and often user developed loading data had to be scrapped when they changed sources. Hodgdon's has had some similar issues with their rifle powders like Varget from ADI in Australia--long periods where it is unobtainable. The IMR line, by contrast, comes from a Canadian facility but that is being affected by Covid restrictions which is a bit different than previous crises.

Alliant at least makes its own pistol and shotgun powders in house at Radford VA and I think St. Marks in Fla makes some of its rifle powders along with some rifle powders for Hodgdon's and Winchester. I think most of the Reloader series comes from Sweden (Bofors) and Switzerland RL17.

here's the legal difference - no one has the Constitutional Right to get admission to a certain university, and there is no requirement that admissions be "fair" (whatever that is). You just have to respect the big 4 - sex, race, religion, national origin. No restrictions for those, everything else is fair game. (that's why schools try to hide the fact they discriminate against asians)

The difference with athletics is that *Everyone* has the Constitutional Right to bargain for the value of the goods and services they can provide.

I like to leave them alone unless i spot a brown recluse or a black widow. They realky do keep to themselvrs and catch most of the bugs before MegaRoy can barf the legs up on a shoe or a stair tred to be found by my bare foot at 2am.

There is no right to attend a university written into the Constitution, there just as there is no Constitutional right that you get must get dough for your athletic ability. But the NCAA said you couldn't even negotiate that, just like the DOJ told those rich influential families they couldn't negotiate getting their kid into college unless it followed rules not even written in some federal statue anywhere, to do so violated federal 'conspiracy' laws.

Bribery involves getting someone to use something that isn't their's. You can't bribe someone to give you their house, but you might be able to bribe the city to do it with eminent domain. Or you could bribe a security guard to give you access to a vault.

College admissions were therefore NOT bribed, by your definition, to give something that was theirs to give....admission to their schools.

People, there is no law, no Constitutional violation, no crime against nature at issue with private colleges or Universities taking bribes to let influential kids in, unless they are taking federal funds tied specifically, and I mean specifically, to not do that...if you hate that, don't have your kids attend there. Otherwise, you could be charged every fucking day for bribing your neighbor not to have his dog pee on your lawn....
