We were discussing earlier the consequences of inflation that are being seen and the attempt to hide increased prices with changes in product size.

Perhaps, as the staple commodities decrease in size to lower their production cost the size of models will also increase to lower their cost. Seems like there would be a catch in that plan though.

Mall on the other side of my AO built and is building condos in a horseshoe shape where the mall parking lot was and will turn the mall itself into a food court/convenience store/gas station deal for all the old farts buying the condos.

Around here, mid Willamette Valley, they have big RV, trailer events. A few big dealers bring in around 150+ units of various classes for a four day event at the local baseball stadium parking lot. They do this about 3 times a year.

I know of 5 people that bought a RV this way. I almost did too but I had just bought a new house and didn't want to stretch the budget. However, I regret not getting the RV.

Small retail banking would collapse, and that isn't going to happen. They have bank charters, you know, with investors and a board that is under fiduciary requirements that are fixed in writing - and they are highly regulated by the state and feds...they can't refuse banking services to individuals that have not been charged with real banking crimes, and those are hard to prove or present coherently in court, given the infinite manner in which we bank electronically. No, refusing bank services to millions of people just isn't going to work here.

What sort of touch up? I guess what I mean is seriousness of scratch/chips. The very best out there is a company called Dr Color Chip. But it's really not for large messes. At that point, it depends on the car brand.

There's also a zillion videos on YT that cover how to repair what type of problem. I learned a lot. My car so far it's only been chips and road-rash.

When I bought my car, the previous owner obviously never used the park assist, so they'd run the front into several parking curbs. I paid $500 for I think it was dent-doctor to come out, and he did the entire front of the car, and a few other spots which I thought was fine. A good paint kit is a chunk of that right there, and if you add in the Adam's or Griot's Garage random orbital buffer (or Harbor Freight you cheapskate) you're well on your way there + what your time is worth.

A couple of reasons. First, if you spending the money on the land and construction, it makes more sense to build larger so that you have room for expansion. Second, I would imagine that most malls are built with the goal of attracting shoppers from more than the local community. Certain some of the big malls, such as the one near Barstow, seem to be geared towards that: they are destinations rather than simply somewhere locals run to for a quick birthday gift.

For at least 20 years, June in CA has been one of the hottest months. I just expect it now. In fact, this May we hit 105 for a couple of days. Then it cools off in July and August, several years in the past were so cool I couldn't even grow decent tomatoes. Tomorrow is supposed to be 100, revised downward a bit. Of course, they'll do rolling brownouts just to show us who's in charge.

Summer is always the worst, but if you count in all of the newbies in their shiny new rigs, tourist areas are going to be crowded. We've done all the touristy things and now we are into the small town festivals and hometown events. We haven't had a problem finding a place for a night or a week. Do not go to Yellowstone, or Glacier or Yosemite, you won't get near it.

I was a JBL guy until friends took me to some Grateful Dead roady's house, and he had KEF 104/5's and McIntosh gear (and R to R of every dead show ever at Winterland). That sort of changed my outlook (on speakers, not the Dead). The ex still has my Thiel's, right when I was about to get all my shit the lockdown started - and she being she wouldn't let anybody even breath in her direction.

So, I bought some Focal Kanta No2's. to make up for it. YOLO! Actually, right as the lockdown started I'd been looking at 1028be's as they were on closeout and cheap - the dealer had some guy trade in some No2's for Sopra's, and gave me some mint for 50% off, just broken in. They're keepers. So is the BAT gear, French speakers and tubes...

They can't. A couple countries have tried it and it always fails. There are simply too many transactions which require it or would be too inconvenient without it. Plus, as others have mentioned elsewhere, the US sends a lot of cash overseas and removing cash from daily life would make that more difficult to do.

Also not a bad idea, but it has to work within reason. Gold and land (and ammo and guns) are fine investments, but if the banks are shut down because White Supremacists, you don't want to have to wait three months to sell an acre so that you can go buy groceries.

All things in moderation, and there's no getting around that having a thousand or two thousand bucks handy can help day to day life in ways outside of Burning Times and buying colanders for facemasks. Hot water heater fails, tire blows, etc. etc. It's nice to be able to reach for that cushion.

Covid put our competitor out of business, but so did those Sprinter vans. They operated 16 of them. I'm friends with the shop that maintained them. He told me they were massive Shop Queens, always needing expensive, oft-backordered parts. Operating costs were brutal, and ate massively into profits.

One will do as one wishes, but being in an industry that uses these types of vans constantly, I'll take the Transit and it's superior record, every time.

Do the vans have the auto-off feature at stops? That's the one thing he dislikes. It can be disabled, but it apparently has to be disabled every time. There is no "turn off permanently" option as I understood it.

That's the thing about Angel of Death Cuomo and the other murderous governors. If you look at their state Covid deaths there's a big spike at the start and then a bit of a flatline before the increase starts again. The states that didn't take their "Kill grandma" approach have more of a steady slope in their Covid deaths. Its entirely possible that all those people were a couple months from passing anyways, or they would have caught a different cold or the flu and died from that instead. That being said, if someone is terminal and has 6 weeks to live, you don't get to shoot them in the face today. And that is what they did.
