The Morning Report - 6/9/21

lilbigchi.jpg

Good morning kids. Wednesday and it seems we're in a race; a race to cover-up Fauci and the fraud-cum-pandemic he and the Chi-Coms unleashed on the world, the abject criminality, criminal incompetence and unreconstructed real racism of Joe Biden, his son, Veep Throat Kackler Harris and all the other Maoists in the cabinet, the growing physical/forensic evidence confirming and proving that the 2020 election was indeed stolen in at last two of the six states (and another one showing the one that installed Soros stooge L.A. DA Gascon was rigged [and who knows how many others]) and much other malfeasance, hypocrisy and destruction so as to preserve, protect and defend the anti-American counter-revolution.

I am reticent in the extreme to even talk of electoral politics or polling or anything else involving normal political discourse because that stuff is right out the window considering everything we had witnessed going back to Obama and climaxing on January 6th-20th of this year. And there was no happy ending. But there are signs out there that we here in the former United States of America and elsewhere around the world at the very least understand we are hurtling headlong into a new dark age and perhaps are not going to go quietly. Speaking of "happy endings," this happened the other day in the Peoples Republic of China:

Chinese police stormed a campus protest Tuesday inside Nanjing Normal University, where students were rising up against a plan to merge the school with a vocational college in fear that it would devalue their degrees.

Police said students held the dean hostage for over 30 hours, beginning Sunday. Some students "shouted verbal abuse and blocked law enforcement," Danyang city police said in a statement. The Jiangsu education authorities suspended the merger plans, which affected five local universities, late Monday evening. But, that didn't stop the students from raging forward.

Before you Pooh-Pooh platter this, remember that this is in China; a nation allegedly on the march to dominating the world and that for sure dominates its own citizenry. And no, this was not in Hong Kong with its subjugated western-oriented populace, nor ever in Xinjiang, a province that is essentially a massive concentration/death camp for the Muslim Uighurs. This is in a major mainland city. Considering the Chi-Com penchant for physically and mercilessly crushing all dissent, the balls of these students to risk getting Rachel Corrie'd with a tank for something seemingly as petty as protesting a school policy indicates to me something deeper going on in that country. Yet, if unarmed youth who are censored and surveilled out the wazoo by an all-powerful totalitarian regime that would step on them like a bug for looking sideways are doing this, it could be a sign of deeper disaffection throughout the entire nation.

Speaking of an imprisoned nation and a disaffected citizenry, we return to our own land of internal exiles, specifically to one of America's "shining cities on a hill"... a slag heap with broken glass, rivers of raw sewage and crackpot racist bile -- Baltimore:

When I lived in Baltimore I used to joke that Charm City, as the city called itself, should be honest and drop that first "c." Harm in the form of violent crime was terrible and it was everywhere. There were open-air drug markets and the mid-sized city with so much history and such great potential was often the murder capital of the United States. This was the day of the infamous "Stop Snitchin'" DVD warning against going to police to inform against criminals or for any other reason.

The "Baltimore sage" H. L. Mencken said "For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong." And so it was with defunding the police and its ideological companion, critical race theory. Defunding police was a simple-minded attempt to grapple with complex problems, not all of which are real and not all of which have government solutions. Critical race theory is just as simple-minded, and as toxic as Baltimore's Inner Harbor occasionally becomes.

The last thing Baltimore needed was to have its police defunded. But the mayor and city council followed the far-left activist agitators off that cliff in 2020, and homicide in Harm City shot up.

Businesses in historic and trendy Fell's Point are feeling the effects directly, and after the city has failed to listen and do its job, they're fighting back with a tax revolt according to WBAL.

Call it the Baltimore Tea Party.

"What is happening in our front yard -- the chaos and lawlessness that escalated this weekend into another night of tragic, unspeakable gun violence -- has been going on for far too long," a portion of the letter says.

The letter demands that city leaders restore "basic and essential municipal services" including trach pickup, enforcement of traffic and parking laws through tickets and towing, stopping illegal open-air alcohol and drug sales and empowerment of police to responsibly do their jobs.

The business owners threaten to withhold tax and permit payments, placing those funds into an escrow account, if the city doesn't respond to their request.

City officials are hired by voters to do their jobs. Businesses pay taxes to fund the city's provision of services. But if the city is failing in its most fundamental duties, it doesn't deserve the taxes. The business leaders can better spend that money on security and other services they can depend on, or something else.
The city's failure can't and won't go without some reaction.

Pissing in the wind? Tilting at windmills? Maybe. Yeah, I get it. It's easy to throw up your hands and be cynical especially when you look at all at the forces arrayed against us. But from Baltimore to Nanking to Tehran (see below) and even in Europe, people are at a breaking point. Change won't happen overnight. But then again, I distinctly remember being in college when Reagan took office and the Soviet Union seemed as imposing and permanent as ever. Look what happened not even a decade later.

What cannot go on will not go on. The only questions are, how long can the intolerable be tolerated, what will it cost to overthrow the shackles of repression and ultimately, if we are successful (please G-d), what will come after? Lots to ponder.

NOTE: The opinions expressed in some links may or may not reflect my own. I include them because of their relevance to the discussion of a particular issue.

Oh, but it's going to get them. It's simpler to harass, fine and shut down businesses than it is to stop gang activity, drug sales and pick up trash.

The Law isn't meant any longer to stop criminal elements from disturbing the law abiding, it's meant to keep the law abiding in line.

Then once the white is painted, mask off the white for the black stripes invasion stripes. Also going round and round trying to mask propeller for the red/yellow/red stripes.

Started the Tamiya 1/48 He 219 by tackling the CMK resin and PE DB603 engine since I really do want to open up an engine bay. CMK kit comes with two complete DB603s, after starting one the other goes in the spares box or for sale. Just the engine itself is 20 parts and I plan to add plumbing and wiring so by the time I finish I full expect the engine to have 30 parts. So only one engine thank you.

i'm still of the opinion that the law was intended to protect criminals. it provided the understanding that vigilante justice wasn't necessary because the Law would ensure proper punishment.

now that that is obviously going by the wayside, there's going to be a lot more Dirty Harry types floating along.

53 My good friend from my childhood is a business owner in Baltimore. I cannot - for the life of me - fathom why he tries to remain there. The pandemic caused him a huge amount of hurt. He converted his mead works into a hand sanitizer factory and then got stiffed with a huge inventory of sanitizer when the government decreed that it was not legal for him to manufacture it - despite them giving him the approval previously. So now he's got $sixfigures in sanitizer sitting around - that nobody wants AND he has to pay inventory tax on! Thats in addition to having to close down his tap room.
He's a dedicated prog (you can't determine these things when you're in middle school) so he's sticking through it. Bless his heart.

55 The George Gascon article assumes statistical techniques can truly be applied to relatively small data sets, like one set of election results. At best, it seems to me these techniques can only suggest you need to closely examine an election. You can't draw sweeping conclusions, and call them statistical fact. Find actual, real evidence of fraud.

60 The letter demands that city leaders restore "basic and essential municipal services" including trach pickup, enforcement of traffic and parking laws through tickets and towing, stopping illegal open-air alcohol and drug sales and empowerment of police to responsibly do their jobs.
++++
Working precisely as designed. This letter - and the scores or hundreds lust like it across the continent - are what they have been waiting for. It is not the goal, but a concrete step towards the goal. Next, the municipalities will either not respond at all, or will respond but fail. These letters will become more frequent, more forceful and more desperate. Then the vigilance committees will be formed and take action. Some will be psuedo-effective, but most won't be. The demands for action will grow louder after that, as neighborhoods pit against each other.

Then the Feds will strike. They will nationalize police everywhere in the name of imposing law, order, peace, standards, etc. Then they will clamp down and things will get a bit better and stabilize, since the rules will have changed. Then they pivot to general oppression via their new (huge) federal internal security force.

For example, the states that shut down counting at the same time had to have a top dog who gave the order. Delve into their phone and email records to find a common denominator, somebody who gave them the go order. If they all got a call from somebody in Long Island at about the same time, I doubt it coincidence.

Power of "and" here, bigly. Remember your Critical Theory. Critical Theory was designed by the interwar (and even more postwar) German communists, augmented by the Postmodern philosophy they learned from their French fellow travelers. You pick a division point. You criticize it. You recast the problem as justifying radical change at all costs. You use it as a wedge to cause massive changes. Then you reset, catch your breath, and do it again with the same or a different problem. Each cycle brings you closer to communist revolution. It is the very heart of Critical Theory.

In the US, we have many wedge issues but race - and to a lesser degree, sex - is one of the most powerful. It's why it got it's own spin-off as Critical Race Theory. Obama's racism and communism are the same thing. One is a tool to bring about the other.

Which brings up the next question. Does anyone actually check the purity of imported hand sanitizer? What if the real purpose of the Whu-Flu was to get Americans to expose themselves multiple times daily to an intentionally contaminated product that has an as-yet unknown long term effect.

They are making us mostly talk about Fauci/China/where the virus came from, the important thing is the dictatorial response by the various governments.

Here in the states, we had a bit of a safety net for people forced out of work. I just spoke to someone in Vietnam. The government are going shop to shop to force them to not work, to try to control the super dangerous virus (haha, wink wink). There are no economic safety nets in Vietnam. It's a little foil-y for me, but I discount nothing anymore. I have sanitizer, but I shopped carefully (and at huge expense) back at the beginning to get only USA or European stuff. That said, I doubt there's some nefarious plot via China-made sanitizer or other hygiene products. It's possible, of course, but I think it's unlikely. It is far more likely the same nefarious plot that everything for the past thirty or so years has been manifesting: China's quest to manufacture everything as to control everyone. It fits in nicely with the general theme, without a nasty, hard to detect chemical subplot.

Somewhat. How they describe it is in three columns: Total net worth, increase in net worth over 2020, taxes paid in 2020. The problem is that increases in net worth are not immediately realized. If I own a million bucks' worth of stock, and it doubles, my net worth has gone up a million dollars. If I didn't sell it, though, none of it is realized and thus none of it is taxed. If I sold fifty grand, I'd pay taxes of about $8k on it. I would show an $8k tax pay on $1m wealth increase on their tables.

They don't break out realized gain, and I suspect that was intentional. You can use unrealized paper wealth very powerfully (often through collateralized debt) and avoid taxation and this is absolutely true, but their framing is unsophisticated to say the least.

Yup. This was the biggest revelation for me in the Spygate stuff. That the "302 form" is the standard for evidence is staggering. The cop does an interview, then writes down what they talked about, then certifies it, then that's the record. A mutable record, subject to change and deceit.

I understand where it came from - recording used to be expensive, difficult, unreliable and the machinery was bulky. Not anymore. The fact that the 302 was (and is) *still* standard practice after cheap, effective tape cassette recorders happened (call it the early 80s) tells me all I need to know. They use the 302 system because they *want* a mutable record. It's more flexible. There are reasons to use the 302 (say you're an embedded undercover cop, for example), but never for an interrogation. We have tape recorders (and forensic, immutable digital recorders) now...

Sure. In the early 70s, tape recorders were still expensive (though the FBI was even then gigantic and had a huge budget) and big, but they were certainly available. It just makes the behavior even worse if we extend the timeline, and I am not interested in recasting the behavior as better.

Trying to give the FBI every benefit of every doubt, reel-to-reel is a PITA and complicated as compared to slamming a cassette in and hitting "record." I am not all that interested in giving them the benefit of the doubt, though. I'll take it. Let's go portable reel-to-reel as the standard and say that on-premise interviewing should have been recorded by the late sixties. If not for all interviews, then certainly for major ones with important figures (politicians, mob bosses, etc.). By the late 70s, there's no excuse for not recording interviews unless the cop was undercover and couldn't.

Depending on which standard you use, we're at 40-60 *years* that this was feasible at some scale. That's a couple of human generations that they haven't bothered. There's only one good explanation for that.

Suicide rates were basically unchanged. So Hopkins discontinued the practice.

I'm not, really. There are a lot of old people and a lot of them are suddenly *much* more worried than they used to be about asset protection for their survivors and less willing to leave things to chance.

That's a big market, and it's going to be filled and the need is real. That said, I would be very suspicious of choosing any of them based on ads, in the absence of a lot of homework. In the GDR, everything was illegal and the cops had absolute power. Recording everything was useful, because then they had a ready-made excuse when they decided to turn their eyes on *you.*

Our FBI, however, is not the Stasi. They don't want to record because they want the flexibility to spin fiction and certify it as truth when they turn their eyes on you. We have an equivalent to the Stasi in this country, in that respect, and it's the combination of the IC (especially NSA) and Big Tech. They run the general-purpose dragnet should they need to find a wedge to go after you. The FBI is targeted, not general - so they use different methods.

In this country, there might not be one. If we take another first world country, though, in Britain they started tape recording interviews in the 80s (and they still do, actually, in some cases). That was just pretext. The FBI uses 302s and not video / audio is so that the defendant cannot present objective evidence of what happened during the interrogation. The only evidence is direct testimony (juries reflexively believe the agent over the defendant and the defendant will likely be counselled not to testify) and the only thing available to impeach the agent's testimony is a document prepared by the agents.

The FBI uses 302s for trial tactics.

204 30 I saw some photos of Kamala visit with Mexican president. Most notable was Kamala and her aides with face diaper, virtue signaling their concern for everybody's safety, Mexican president and his aides free face, like normal people This regime is an embarrassment to the world and no doubt mocked by serious politicians in other countries.
_____________

Kamaltoe was mocked by the prezzy of Guatemala, who said of course it's the Biden . . . uh, make that the "Biden-Harris" administration that is causing the border crisis in the U.S. by announcing that they're going to "reunite families" and essentially giving the green-light to the cartels, who then rush to smuggle as many kids as possible across the border, at a $6,000 per kid crossing fee.

[But I did enjoy the Guatemalan crowds yelling "Trump won!" at Kamaltoe. ]

Obama likes her for some reason, but Biden has a fair amount of fault for her selection, too. Don't forget that when asked - before he got the nomination, but when it was clear that the fix was in - about who his running mate would be, he said it would be a "woman of color." That seriously limited their options, essentially to Harris, Mad Maxine, Tank Abrams and a few others. In that context, Harris might have actually been the least-bad choice. I know that she being considered "least bad" is shocking, but given the constraints it might actually be true.

Here's the problem, though.

Without HR1 passing (looks doubtful), states can claw back integrity in their elections, especially as more and more evidence comes out of hankypanky in 2020. The voters will still have a choice at every level of our government, and the top of the Democratic Party is a complete embarrassment.

If voting still matters at all, this is going to be disastrous for them.

223 I think you have the wrong spin on the student protest in China JJ.

They are concerned about a diminished value in their educations since in Statist economies, networking aided by credentials is the path to economic success.

Students protesting in the former United States rarely if ever do so on the basis of either a perceived or real quality of education, its almost exclusively about promoting social, cultural and academic rot.

What is common between the two is in the administration. Harvard, Yale and other formerly prestigious universities do nothing to protect their brand and thus act like China in merging with a vocational school. Sort if ITT Tech and DeVry merged with Princeton and MIT.

226 Good morning! The comment by NYT's Mara Gray's on morning Joe that got me was this:

"I think that as long as they see Americanness as the same, as one, with whiteness, this is going to continue. We have to figure out how to get every American a place at the table in this democracy, but how to separate Americanness, America, with whiteness. Until we can confront that, and talk about that, this is really going to continue."

Step One: CRT indoctrinates people with the notion that Whiteness = America, and to 'fix' America we need to abolish whiteness.

Step Two: Complain that *white people* are misinformed to believe that whiteness = America, and that we cannot resolve anything until whites stop believing that.

My Mother-in-law died in her sleep last night. She was simply old and finally ran out of steam. A very nice woman of happy spirits who raised a wonderful daughter and treated me like a son. There is substantial economic dislocation occurring and anyone believing it will be inconsequential is a fool. There are massive amounts of people essentially collecting welfare instead of working. Conversely there are massive amount of jobs going unfilled. At the present time the government is providing the largest amount of money to individual, then it ever has in history. Inflation is chipping away at people's disposable income, energy prices and household goods continue to rise. I remain convinced that one reason for the success of these "sort of united" states is that (once upon a time) enterprising men and women could find enough land, invest in it financially and with their toil and sweat, and be essentially independent of the greedy bankers, stock-brokers, robber barons, and politicians.

... Now, your potential lower to middle class home owner is positioned to be a permanent renter. This matters because for the lower and middle class owning a home is the most major part of any financial success, and future upward mobility.

That's a part of it. I just bought my first house. I had been a renter for fifteen years, ten of those in the same unit. I learned something during that time, both from my first few apartments and then the last one, when I shopped carefully - and watching my friends' experiences. The giant corporate landlords (or small guys using corporate management) are hell to live with. Everything is bureaucratic. There are no exceptions, no human to deal with. It's expensive and unpleasant. My last apartment was owned by a human. I knew my landlord. We could work together if we needed to during problems. We could help each other out if I was light one month or they needed something fixed. You can't do that with a mega-landlord or management outfit. It makes life harder.

They changed the headline and added some disclaimers last year (article is from 2016). Yet now I can't find it on WEF's website at all. They've taken it down, I think. If you search for it, you find three kinds of results. You find people horrified about what it says, republication of the original in magazines like Forbes and Futurist, and "fact-checks" assuring you that the Great Reset isn't real. It's like looking at chaos rendered on the screen.

They need to pull the rug out of all these people getting stimulus and enhanced welfare AKA unemployment. You can't have that kind of dislocation with the coming storm. The bill for All this money printing and spending over the years is coming due. Anyone saying that inflation will be transitory, as if it will not have an impact on people's lives, is a liar. The Fed hasn't had to deal with inflation for a long time, and thinking it's going to be a pedestrian event is whistling past the graveyard. The fact that Stairmaster Fail is now directly attacking our industries, jobs, and going back to the outsource model spells big trouble for many industries. If they pass some of the tax deals, things get worse. Times are good right now because of Trump's policies, and Democrats are taking them down one at a time. Good times never last forever.

That's partly what the thread talks about. After the blowup in 2007-2009, major investment banks got access to the Fed discount window. They, like the primary dealers, have first access to new money (the only good place to be during monetary inflation). They are financing these huge property portfolios with capital market gains and Fed money.

And the last time they had to deal with it, they had Volcker. Volcker wasn't actually great in a lot of ways, but he *did* deal with the inflation that became problematic after the Great Society and everything that followed from it. He dealt with it in a way that Powell won't be able to.

Volcker rightly determined that a brief, very bad recession (the Reagan Recession) would be better than not dealing with the problem. He jacked interest rates up and let it stabilize. But he did that in an environment that was already fairly high-interest (by contemporary standards) and with way less debt across the board, public and private.

If we do that again - and we're going to have to, but we're also going to put it off for as long as possible - the government goes bankrupt overnight. The interest on the debt will consume essentially the entire budget. We -- everyone and all at once - will have to live within our means. It will be a disaster and there's no way out.

"And as they're walking away from their bilateral press conference, which is normal, he makes her put on a mask. He sent her back to her podium to get her mask and put it on."

"The level of disrespect, to be quite honest with you, of their president and our vice president was palpable because he knew that she was pandering, and he treated her as such," Bossie said.
