The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition

punk-monkey.jpg

Are we our own worst enemy? Because reading this sort of bilge makes me think that we don't deserve to win if people like this are representing our interests in the media.

I'm not sure what has me exercised the most; the assumption that the conservative body politic is going to accept the status quo of unceasing Republican failure theater, or that he continually conflates Republicans and conservatives. Oh, he also tosses in acceptance of the politics of division as an offhand remark...he clearly has internalized the idea that Black America is uniquely penalized by conventional free markets, and different solutions must be developed for them. That is arrant nonsense and should be rejected as forcefully as the idea of CRT or that American Blacks are too stupid to get government IDs.

Critical Race Theory Is Going to Win

Numerous Republican leaders, lawmakers, and pundits have publicly denounced CRT, condemning its use to further divide America. After Critical Race Theory became part of the national conversation, conservatives and Republicans responded by pushing for bans on the material in public schools. As of this writing, 21 states have introduced legislation designed to ban or limit critical race theory.

However, the question that nobody seems to be asking is: “What happens after the theory is banned? What then?”

It’s a question we should all consider because if we assume for one second that banning Critical Race Theory will destroy this ideology we will be in for a rude awakening. As conservatives, we know that the government is rarely the solution to a problem, so using the government to silence an idea should not be seen as the end-all, be-all.

Even when it is banned, Critical Race Theory will still be disseminated to the American masses and most will be persuaded by at least some of its ideas. (It just won’t be called Critical Race Theory.) The reason why is simple.

Racial disparities when it comes to income, wealth, education, healthcare, and other areas still exist in this country. These are glaring problems that need to be fixed. While several factors play into these disparities, it cannot be denied that government policies in the past – and some even now – have been responsible for ensuring that white Americans are placed ahead of blacks and other minorities.

Here are a few suggestions for the writer: open your eyes! Look who is fighting against CRT. Sure, state legislatures are pushing back, but the conservative grassroots is up in arms, taking the fight to school boards and city councils. That's how conservatives change things! Not by accepting the premise that there is a political or legal answer for every problem.

Will we win this? Will we be able to shift the Overton Window back to an evenhanded view of race? I don't know, but I do know that if we rely on our Republican representatives to fight this battle we will lose.

*This* was in Red State? It's ostensibly a conservative paper, right? Red State is now actively promoting the "systemic racism is responsible for divergent outcomes because otherwise outcomes would not be divergent" circular trap? And also promoting the "policies of the past justify extreme response in the present despite those policies being ended" post-facto insanity?

28 Oddly, I partially agree with Red State. Not in their premise, but in their misbegotten conclusion.

Banning Critical Theory in any of its permutations is the wrong approach to the schools and government contractor problem. The thing with Postmodernism in general is that it is extremely fungible. It's easy to change the window dressing and do the same thing under a different name but with the same toxic nucleus. A better approach, perhaps, is not to ban CRT or its analogues but to mandate strict constructionist Constitutional concepts in all instruction. Schools and government contractors are forbidden from calling for anything that would involve the state use of a non-enumerated power.

I don't know, but fighting CRT as its own thing is unlikely to succeed because everything is so damn mutable within Postmodernism.

35 I just read the article, and Jeff Charles clearly accepts the premise that 'government policies in the past - and even now - have been responsible for ensuring that white Americans are placed ahead of blacks and other minorities. He doesn't even waste the pixels to tell us what policies do this.

I'll give him a clue: The Great Society.

I will grant him this: just like we need to articulate a viable alternative to Obamacare - even if it is the status quo - we need to articulate a viable solution to CRT. One that doesn't encompass 'theory', but showing real people who achieved real success using principles that are in use today. You will always be able to make a claim that correlation=causation, but you an only refute that with visible facts, not more theories.

Oh, and he talks about what happens after CRT is refuted? I'd rather just start with simply refuting CRT. Conservatism hasn't had a real win in the domestic square since Schlafly defeated the ERA 40 years ago, or maybe Broken Windows 30 years ago. I'll settle for baby steps here.

This is cowardly. It's technically true ("in the past" goes a long way), but is misleading. What specific modern-day government policies are "ensuring that white Americans are placed ahead of blacks and other minorities"? Hasn't the United States been consumed by an effort to discriminate on the basis of race for the past several decades, in order to *ameliorate* past de jure discrimination? (Hello, Affirmative Action).

Here, John Roberts was correct: the way to stop discriminating on the basis of race is to stop discriminating on the basis of race. Instead, the US has enshrined such discrimination, and it continues to metastasize through American society. It must be fought, but it cannot be fought if its opponents begin by accepting the narrative of those who seek to discriminate further.

The truth is that there is a better solution and it involves rejecting both the false gods of Diversity and the Enlightenment. It's ok for people to be with those who share culture, values and genetics. It's not a zero sum game to have ethnic and racial separation. Diversity+proximity=conflict and civic nationalist Egalitarianism creates resentment and bitterness.

Who is the "WE" you speak of? I keep pushing the idea that behind all the Drive to Divide are central powers, but not the ones we see so much, it is the shadow men that pull strings. Soros is rather obvious, but there are many others that run the MFM, and who runs Biden and the other puppets.

imo it is the 20 "world banks" that have most power, but also foundations, and I suppose CCP and Putin also represent certain Mafia Structure Families that have a UN official nation status, but also a crime family presence in drug/human trafficking, and coercive operations.

(China Uncensored does a good video on CCP cartels in Vancouver ... New Zealand also seems under the China thumb, threatening our Five Eyes powers ... but which cartels run Five Eyes?)

I don't think so. Offering a better solution or acknowledging "yes, but you're wrong about how to fix it" won't matter. Keep in mind that the Left is not results-oriented in that way. They don't care about solving any particular problem, they care about total overthrow and implementation of an alternate system. Whatever battleground they choose - race, in this case - is merely a wedge to be used toward the actual goal. Solving the discrete problem and clearing the wedge does nothing long term because fixing that problem was never the enemy's goal to begin with.

It gains ground and becomes embedded like a tick because the real goal has nothing to do with the framing of the problem, and the operators pursuing it are in total control of all institutions.

That's over. It already happened. The institutions are too far gone to be saved. The solution is extrainstitutional attack from without, and it needs to happen on all fronts. Without millions of boots-on-the-ground activists pressuring them at every turn, in every forum, at every store front and every community meeting, it doesn't change. Change from within is impossible. In their own terms, the problem is systemic oppression. They have full and total institutional control.

This applies to all races. The blueprint for success has been delivered to generation after generation. And yet, there are some who choose to go a different way, for whatever reason. Whether they can't see past their upbringing or not, a lack of success does seem to be generational, which means that there is either an inability to progress or a lack of desire to.

It's why the Left did their little language trick. Notice that they don't talk about "equality" anymore at all. They talk about their new concept of "equity" - or "equitable outcomes." Any non-proportional outcome at any level is suddenly evidence of systemic oppression. It is strictly single-variable. If there is a disparity of outcome anywhere, it is because of systemic oppression and the majority (that is, the liberal west) is at fault.

Don't have the stomach?

Proponents of CRT control all institutions, and perhaps their strongest grip is on education.

This is like if Social Democrats and the Catholic Center in 1935 were standing there saying "How can we keep the Fuehrerprinzip and the paganism and the primitive racial weltanschauung out of our kids' schools?!"

The answer is: you won't, unless you overthrow the government. It's their call. This has been decreed from above, and the decree will be carried out.

152 Government coercion is a problem, i.e. goverment forcing CRT on everybody in their employ and in schools, especially given it's wrong, plain and simple. There are bad people of every race, color, and creed. There were slaves owned by people of every race, color, and creed. Slavery was ubiquitous. The United States ended slavery with the sacrifice of more than half a million people on both sides, yet blood sacrifice is not enough. Islam STILL has slavery on the down-low, yet nowbody in govt seems concerned about it. Islam STILL has second-class citizens paying jizya, yet nobody is talking about it in govt.

We are not in that awkward phase where it's too late to fix the system with the system, and too early for more direct solutions - we're in the tail end of a decades long, drawn out phase where people keep hanging on to the civics class solutions because they're not being honest with themselves about the nature of our enemy and the consequences of losing.

215 What I think is funny most about the whole CRT thing is that it bases everything on racism and that the black community is oppressed by whites.

The FACTS are, no matter who's in the position of power, white, black, whomever, the leftist ideology is what's oppressing them. The Democrat party, which is now a socialist/communist party, is responsible for the KKK, Jim Crow, George Wallace and were against The Civil Rights Act. Look at the black leaders elected in the Democrat party and see what they did with their power. Enriched themselves and kept their constituents under their thumb, reliant on the government teat.

Until THEY wake up and see these facts, they'll continue to suffer under ANY color leftist oppression.

240 "Why are they afraid of unvaccinated people if they're vaccinated?
Posted by: TheJamesMadison (LvTSG)"

Honest answer: This is a complex bit of propaganda and political misdirection, just like the mask dance.

This exact argument used to be the sole province of washed up, *leftist* celebrity twats arguing against regular childhood immunizations. And the real answer to that is that the imperfect efficacy of those vaccines combined with their attenuation over time means that ongoing herd immunity requires a certain level of vaccination to work. This is precisely why my AO full of prog Karens kept getting measles outbreaks when they insisted on not vaccinating their special little snowflakes. It's been an embarrassment to the Dems for years.

But now the left has dumped this albatross of a position on us by shilling it over to the right in regards to the COVID jabs - where the less effective they are, the more relevant it is, setting aside whether the jabs are ineffective entirely or unsafe for certain (or any) groups. Remember - EVERY prog position is about contemporary political advantage.

252 Racial disparities when it comes to income, wealth, education, healthcare, and other areas still exist in this country.

This kind of thing just makes me sigh. There's a basis of truth in this statement, but its incredibly misleading. And the focus of the article is that somehow its the fault of others that these disparities exist, particularly government.

The fact is, governments have been pushing to help non-whites and non-males heavily for over 40 years now, rather than keeping them back. Whatever official government drag there was on women and minorities were several generations ago and have been not just ended but reversed for decades.

What has not changed is the attitude of groups who demand others fix their problems and refuse to do anything for themselves because they'll just be kept down and I should get PAID!

Socialists have no answers for people who are deliberately lazy and refuse to make an effort, but demand more. The only socialist response is to actually give them more.

So net worth rose by less than the increase in the debt during the COVID response. So much for that vaunted multiplier.

Oh, sorry. I won't engage in dangerous heterodoxy or casual analysis and contextualization every again. I apologize for my sin.

Wealth accumulation by the 0.1%, coupled with soaring house prices as a result of the Great Migration out of Democrat shithole cities.

Uh, no, that's for consumption of the rubes. The actual answer is to increase their government provided shitbox apartments from 900 sq ft to 700 sq ft in order to help fund more extravagant dachas from themselves.

Come on, man, let's stop pretending this is about altruism. It will get us nowhere.

The problem with conservatives is that they waste so much time trying to construct positions based on principle rather than fighting a war they don't even know they're in. Progs generally don't make the same mistake because they only principle they have is "win"

291 While I don't like Apple products much, the new OS for the I Phone has a neat features that i hope hundreds of millions are taking advantage of: it by default opts you out of social media tracking and info gathering. You have to say "yes I want you to gather my data and sell it to advertisers".

Which, sadly, most people probably are doing anyway because they are imbeciles and want "personalized advertising"

Didn't Apple get bitchslapped because it was recording everything in the name of Siri and sending it to Apple?

They've taken the "if WE can't have your data, NO ONE CAN" approach, I see.

I think fed is pulling numbers out of its rear end. I know that pharma billionaires popped up all over and some got a LOT richer, but most average families did not get wealthier and most lost money, especially when you look at inflation.

I think it might be due largely to the current housing market bubble. Is the "net worth" of my household based on the funny-money estimate that my house could conceivably sell for twice what I bought it seven years ago?

It sure ain't from salary / raises.

303 "These are glaring problems that need to be fixed." That's the key mistake in the above article. The US never had List Acts. To the extent we have racial disparities in wealth, either the blacks did it to themselves by pissing wealth away, as Thomas Sowell explained; or the wealthy earned it.
But CRT goes a lot farther than just trying to "fix" inequity -- it blames all disparities on malicious discrimination by whites, and not only ignores but spews active hatred against the principles and institutions whites brought to the table, and which have made our country great. If our ancestors had not colonized America this continent would still be primitive as well as poor, and the Africans who were sold into slavery would have just been shipped north or east from Africa instead of west.
In short, CRT supporters are ingrates and should be exiled.

I know you know better than this. Printing several trillion dollars of handouts isn't giving more to the people because the printing itself is a subtle method of theft via inflation.

It's still stealing; they're just good at it.

Black culture is a malignant cancer, killing everything it touches. I never thought in a million years growing up as a naive Midwestern kid that I would have to have 'the talk' with my kids about avoiding groups of blacks, crossing the street, avoiding entire business chains, having half the city be a no-go zone, not speaking freely about their beliefs or opinions... The blacks want to be segregated again? Bring it.

311 Actually agree somewhat with the Red State author. However, couldn't help but notice that he failed to describe WHAT the competing policy idea ought to be. (This is an all-too-common failing on the part of conservative pundits.)

The key is to focus on specifics, not this generalized "CRT is bad" approach. The part of CRT that is most universally deplorable is the singling out and demonizing of one race (whites). Conservatives must repeat as a mantra: "You can't fix racism with more racism."

We must reject the strange notion that there is such a thing as a monolithic "white" culture (there is at most a European-American culture, but within that many cultures), and the idea that a strong work ethic, intelligence and family values are exclusively a "white" thing. This is repugnant and insulting to most people of whatever color or background.

Most people still prefer a color-blind society to one that is obsessed with division by identity. As for why disparities still exist, conservatives need to explain how this is the fault of a terrible education system that fails minorities most of all, and the solution is greater school choice and accountability.

It's what they did the shift with. They didn't attempt to paint Trump as anti-vaccine in 2016 with Covid now did they. 4 years before Wuhan they had already definitely switched to the claim that conservatives are anti-vax.

Posted by: Buzzion at June 10, 2021 11:40 AM (G2zl5)

313 I think we really need to push to abolish government schools. Because even if we're able to beat back CRT, something else will come along. Rest assured its replacement is already percolating in the fever swamps of academia. And even if we gain back control of Congress in 2022 (I don't see how given Dai-Min-Yun) that Congress won't control the executive agencies that actually make policy. As Mr. Miyagi said, the best block is not to be there. Get rid of government schools and you rob the libs of the major artery they use to mainline their noxious ideology.

Posted by: Iblis at June 10, 2021 11:41 AM (9221z)

314 The guy who wrote the Red State article seems to be right, and you seem to be wrong.

GOPe governors can pretend to take it seriously, put on a concerned face. That will not make CRT unprofitable for woke capital, i.e. any less popular with large numbers who hate whitey as their personal calling.

Hell, Lindsay et al have already done the heavy lifting in terms of identifying CRT weasel words and laying out just WHY the cult is a toxic waste dump of the mind. All anyone has to do is just pass out even just one article from New Discourses any time this hot garbage rears its ugly head.

Posted by: Saber Alter at June 10, 2021 12:51 PM (Yd+10)

318 People push CRT need to visit socialist nations to see the racial harmony, the social cohesiveness, the universal trust and spirit. I've been in several in Europe, Middle East, Asia, South America, Africa and they are called people's paradises for a good reason.

People risk death to escape for good reason. Who wishes to live in Yemen, South Africa, Cuba, Cambodia, Russia, Boliva, Venezuela, Syria?

Or Detroit, NY, Rochester, Chicago, Philly, St Louis, Atlanta, or Minneapolis, SF or LA? All socialist paradises.
