Extreme weight lifters can have that much total (though for seconds with a lift). Bones are amazing, but I'd bet and sudden drop and they'd break like twigs due to the stress.

Have you ever watched that My 600 lb life or whatever it was called?
They basically document this dude eating something like 15 or 20k calories a day. And his family was enabling all of it by cooking for him since he was basically bed ridden.

My ancient Dixon 42" ZTR has only one Murphy switch, that kills the engine if I get off the seat when the blade clutch is energized. I love that machine; was on it today for a while, too.

There are a lot of stupid "safety devices" on modern mowers that simply get in the way of doing the job. Shit like the interlock on the handle of a walk-behind mower that kills the engine if you let go of it. Swell! So I have to restart the machine if I let go the handle for a second to walk around and kick the doggeh's squeeze toy off to one side? How about I disable the stupid interlock, bitches?

I really think there is a point where people need to be held responsible for enabling this stuff. No, I do not mean mcdonalds, but you hear about people who are too large, but have a family member feeding them. I worked a summer at the state of Oregon Treasury department, helping process tax returns. I learned several things there:
1) it doesn't take much in an office to stand out by working hard
2) Rich people file ridiculous tax returns an inch thick depreciating everything in their house down to the glass top on their work desk.
3) Women at the State put on about 5 pounds a week and turn into blobs.

Man! That is complicated. All those friggin' safety interlocks. Look at page 119, the brake actuator module. Pin 12, white wire going to "mag kill". Try unplugging that wire, or cut it, if you must. See if the engine starts.
The brake actuator module seems to be the nexus of several safety devices, and if any one of them is false-triggered, the machine cannot start.

That was a bit before my time but I remember people talking about them. There's a real horror show of a story about women painting radium on watch dials so they glow in the dark way back early 20th century. Hell, nobody knew anything about how dangerous radiation was back then.
The girls would lick their paintbrush to get a nice point on it then paint, then... they got horrendous radiation damage, their lower jaw rotting off, etc. So sad.

I don't know what the cut off is, but I believe the term is for a group whose members either are famous all (or mostly) famous when they form the group (like Damn Yankees) or when the group splits most go on to be big solo or other group stars.
And the answer is the same chonkers in the music buis who vote on the R&R HOF, so people looking to make a buck off someone else's talent.

Clapton and Baker went straight to another "supergroup" after Cream, to Blind Faith, which added Steve Winwood (famous from Spencer Davis Group) and Rich Grech (never so famous from what I can tell).
I still remember an intro someone did with Jay Leno on Friday Night Videos:

The weird part is that the guy they were doing a tribute for... wasn't that great. I never saw him live but the recordings are just okay, he's clearly not the talent that Lane Staley and Scot Wieland were, let alone Cornell and Vedder.

I physically remove the offending parts. When it comes to mowers, I am Death, Destroyer of Worlds. I ran my my "Whirling Silver Swords of Death" mower today. I have used it for nigh-on 20 years. It began life as an 18" Sensation rental shop mower with a flip-over handle, and a 4 HP engine. Some rental shp customer dropped it off a truck, and broke a wheel off the magnesium deck. So, I cut the other wheel off that end, and shortened off the deck. Added two skids, and some tines to channel weed stems into the blade. Put two kiddie bicycle wheels on the back end, and a looong fixed handle, so I can bear down on the grips, and balance the weight. Makes short work of thistles, weeds, and saplings up to 3/4".

Most pushmowers are "self propelled" now, because government mandates all kinds of nonsense, including no more 2 stroke engines. So they weigh too much to push around.
A bricktop LawnBoy with a magnesium deco is lightweight, about 40 pounds, and easy to maneuver. Horsepower ratings are deceptive, the 2 strokes get wound up and don't bog down in thick, wet turf. That was another gubbmint debacle.
Push mowers are designed for 3600 RPM, but they determined the blade tip speed was "too dangerous" at that RPM, ao mowers (and snowblowers too) come crippled.

To say that Ginger Baker was an alpha wolf who was raging insane and violent was an understatement. Incredible drummer, huge talent but... psychotic. The fact that he never actually killed anyone that we're aware of is kind of surprising. He was so good on the skins that he kept getting work but so hard to work with and insane that he never could keep a job.

I remove the entire interlock mechanism on mowers that fall into my hands. No point in pushing dead weight around. I used to salvage "dead" mowers from the town dump on a regular basis, fix the usually minor problems, and sell or give them away. Still have three or four around the place.

One of the things they'd do, the line employees and supervisors would have the prototype models sent home with them, and they would cut the grass with them, and take notes, under real world conditions.
Lots of "ergonomics" and other quality of experience things can be picked up this way. Ever buy a consumer product that works "pretty good", but you can tell it's just a copy of something else, and further, it's obvious nobody ever actually tested it before production began, because it has all these annoying stupid shit problems they could have fixed without any drama had they done so, but they didn't, so they didn't.

I find terrible things worthwhile to watch because they're are just chock full of lessons about what not to do as a writer.

Yeah I think the best assassin movie I saw for pure skill and work as a mechanic was The Professional (aka Leon). He was just about the kill, and it didn't involve ninja kicks and fighting. He was a ghost.

OK, I won't watch everything. 50 Shades would only be if a special someone wanted to see it, and I don't have one of those and don't think I could date someone who did want to watch it. When the Dempanic hit, Daughter and SiL didn't have the big family wedding and a honeymoon in Hawaii. Instead, they got married rather unceremoniously in a little chapel, and took a brief tour of the state (which is a great state to tour). Now, with the Dempanic fading, and their 1st anniversary coming up, they planned honeymoon v2, a week+ to travel to Florida.
Daughter took their car in to get detailed before the trip. After which, driving home, she discovered, her driver's side window got stuck rolled down. She called us in distress.
I suggested... percussive maintenance. She banged on the door and voila! the window rolled up, and down and up again, just fine. So, they hit the road tonight after all.
I've had a lot of success over the years with percussive maintenance, even with computer hardware, but I was surprised and delighted that it worked for her. Dad score +1.

I reviewed it. Seem to recall that was pretty much my take as well. I think the 9/11 hit him super hard- he has said he could see (at least) the smoke from his windows from his apartment. But post that he did the Dark Night Returns followup which I never even bothered with the last volume despite buying it, and his All Star Batman gave us the "I'm the goddamn Batman" meme.

I think that originally a "supergroup" meant that the members had been in previous extremely popular groups.
Blind Faith was a supergroup because the members had previously been in Cream, Traffic, Yardbirds, etc. CSN&Y was a supergroup because the members had previously been in Buffalo Springfield, Byrds, Hollies, etc.
EL&P's claim to the status is less justifiable, IMO. Yeah, they'd been in other bands, like The Nice, King Crimson, and so on, but not in gigantically-successful bands.

Holy Terror. It was intended to be a Batman vs Bin Laden book and a continuation of the Dark Knight Returns, but IIRC Osama got capped first and DC took one look at the book and went "Nope." Form what I recall, Miller didn't buy into the whole "Religion of Peace" thing very well.
So Miller did the book anyway and slightly modified the art so he couldn't be sued for having Batman punch a now slightly garbed Osama (cause again, dead). Was at a Half Price Books last Saturday and they had 2 copies. Its a hardcover and oversized, price was $9.99, I got a digital copy that expired so haven't read it in over a decade.

Sirius XM has multiple channels dedicated to specific time periods. 60s or 6, 70s on 7, 80s on 8, 90s on 9. Plus a channel for classic rock from the 70s and another for classic rock from 80s.

Publius, re. the vaccine, I was cautiously ok with taking it myself, but profoundly resistant to any and all efforts to mandate it for anyone. Hopefully I didn't make a bad bargain.
But unlike so many (some of those most fearful and compliant surprised me), I am blessed to believe that this life is just one part of eternal life. Not that I'm hoping to head out early, but having lived long enough to hit some bumps in the road, heck I know the limits of what I can and can't control.

I did a bit of sleuthing on EcoHealth last night...looking for its 990. Most recent I could find was from 2018. And Dazsak only making $336K. Not that that is a bad sum, but in NYC...methinks he must be getting some side $$. The 2018 990 did not show the usual side gig/consulting arrangements with contractors owned by the staff--at least that I could find.

The first moment that anyone in the US power structure even began to have 2nd thoughts about getting the Soviets to help against Japan - which was the sole diplomatic aim we had with them for 3 years straight - was at the very last moment, when it looked like Japan might surrender soon.
Preventing a Soviet defeat was absolutely essential. If that had happened, it's unlikely the US would have been willing, possibly even able, to do what was needed to win in Europe.

I get the need to sidle up to Stalin but from what I am learning we gave them everything and more. When the full account of WW2 is put into perspective the Soviets made out extremely well. I am not sure what the correct course of action would have been.

Aside from that, no American ground forces were engaged with the Germans for nearly 1.5 years while the immense battles raged on the eastern front. Lend Lease, and the Arctic convoys from the UK, were not just material aid but sort of placeholders of intent that we were indeed in the fight (well, the UK had little to prove, but Churchill himself saw the convoys in this light).
And nuclear espionage had nothing to do with official aid. Truman gave a heads-up to Joe at Potsdam about a new weapon, of course Joe already knew, but that was about it.

Again, perspective. At the time of the Tehran conference, the US had been engaged directly against the Germans (on land) for just a year, and much of that in the peripheral theater of north Africa. The Soviets had been involved in an immense war - a war of annihilation against them by Germany - for nearly 3 years.
It was huge to get that Soviet commitment about Japan, and to have it honored. Turns out we didn't need it, but only pure Monday morning quarterbacking makes anything of that.

I took 2 years of German as my foreign language in HS. Our teacher was an Eastern European heavy accent and lived in Europe during WWII as a teen.
We all had German names, mine was Ludwig. Had a few good buddies in there. Anyway, one day a little snot who always smirked a lot, had a few followers who laughed at him, drew a big swastika on the bookcover of his German textbook.
She saw it, and blew up. She wasn't even 5'2", probably 50, and grabbed his book and held it up to the class, trembling. She spent the rest of the period describing in detail the horror she witnessed. Lifetime friends taken away in the night, hiding from Germans, people getting shot, all kinds of truly evil shit. She had a couple of close calls, but obviously made it because she was a teacher in Puyallup WA in the early '70's.
Everyone, even the smartass, was crying by the end of class. The anger and pain in her voice I remember to this day.
She has to be long gone by now, but I would of liked to hear of her view of today's current events.

Idea was come up with the most deadly, potent form you could, and if you could come up with a defense against that, you'd have a good vaccine about a possible enemy weaponizing anthrax.
But someone got it out, and started sending out to scare people right after 9/11. And we still don't know who and why.

I shouldn't say created. The Ames strain was found naturally, and isolated and grown and all taht by the military bioweapons group.
They called it Ames because of a mislabeling of the original sample as coming from Ames, Iowa. It actually came from Sarita, TX.

The Democrats NEED to get out from under this. Suddenly a magical defector appears.
The other Chinese defector leaker, Adam Housley, is saying China "absolutely" has a secret virus vaccine that's super effective. How could they have that if they didn't create the virus before Fauci's GOF research?
The resulting confusion -- China made the virus all by themselves, China used Fauci to create the virus -- lets the Democrats -- Fauci is theirs -- off the hook for killing millions of people.

Different kind of "leak". This wasn't like "oops someone got sick and spread it", it required a lot of deliberate work to employ it as a weapon. More like a lab theft, or misappropriation, or a false flag entirely.
