The Morning Rant

talking ape.jpg

I normally just do screen-grabs of tweets rather than the tweets themselves, but I'm making an exception in this case because you have to look at the insanity in the thread:

I'm scratching my head over what this idiot thinks is going to happen. The Democrats own both Houses of Congress and the Executive. He must think his team is going to get shellacked in the midterms. But if that happens, Biden's handlers will put the veto pen in his hand.

Progressives have been hyperventilating about the menace of the "far right" in this country since, oh, I don't know, the Nixon era. Maybe earlier. For decades, I've heard them issue dire warnings about the evil KKKristianist theocracy about to be imposed on the country. We're always just one short step away from Gilead.

Progressives actually believe this. Read the replies in the Twitter thread. They're completely insane. You'll feel like you've stumbled upon a bunch of rainbow-hued commies huddled around a campfire, roasting mashmallows for their s'mores and telling each other scary horror stories of the Coming Theocratic Apocalypse.

And this while they dominate the federal government, most big-city governments, the media, academia, entertainment, the arts, etc.

They actually believe our side controls the culture. I've read one of them claim that academia is "right-wing".

They actually believe that their side is powerless and oppressed.

Hells bells, even if the progressives controlled 99.9% of the country, they would still be crying like little bitches about how oppressed they are.

The mere existence of *one* dissenting voice, however small and faint, is completely intolerable to them.

It's not for nothing they're called snowflakes. They are emotionally and psychologically fragile, and many of them can only cope with life with the aid of anti-depressant and anti-psychotic medications.

Take "pride" month, for example. Why is it even necessary? It seems condescending somehow, rather like patting a 3-year-old toddler on the head and saying "my, what a big boy you are!" If someone has to keep telling you that you're wonderful, you're not wonderful.

But I suppose it's all of a piece with their "even though we own 99.9%, it's not enough" complaint. They trying to shout down the opposition. But I think what many of them are actually trying to shout down are their own consciences.

To them, we are the tell-tale heart beating beneath the floorboards:

Buh-BUM!
Buh-BUM!
Buh-BUM!
Buh-BUM!

57 This makes me want to rant, but why bother? It's from "crunchycon" Rod Dreher in response to that white-hating Yale psychiatrist:

I don't ever want to see Donald Trump again. He had these people's number, in a way, but he did little or nothing effective to stop them. I want to vote for a presidential candidate who will move against these dirtbags and their institutions without mercy. Enough is enough. I'm not sure what can be done, but if we keep tolerating this, there is going to be violence, one way or another. I am not willing to sit here and listen to these aristocrats like Dr. Khilanani, and malignant institutions like Yale, turn people against me, my children, and my neighbors, because we are white.

https://tinyurl.com/9y769x7a

Oh, NOW you want a dirtbag? Please, name one social media dirtbag you've stood up for when they got suspended - Nick Fuentes, Lara Loomer, Michelle Malkin, Stephen Molyneaux, anyone? That's because you have no courage to support the type of person who would say the nonconciliatory, sometimes awful things to fight back against the Left.

76 McConnell was the Majority Leader. That failure is on him. A key part of the job is getting the votes for these bills.
How exactly? McCain was a dead man walking, and I'm sure Collins and Murk have let it be known that any retribution directed at them will result in their immediate conversion to Democrat. I'm not saying he shouldn't have done it, only that it probably wouldn't have worked.

Good article on Lincoln linked by JJ. I have some "lamentations" over the destruction of federalism that (in certain ways) happened under Lincoln's hand .. but that article points out many good things, set in that time frame, for "individual rights".

One thing though, Lincoln made a deal with the private railways, that gave the North advantages against the South ... but to the extent that was fine, for "defeating slavery" -- It did establish a "conglomerate of power" that requires government as a check.

Fast forward to our fed gov today, giving our tech to Google/Facebook in exchange for certain advantages (spying/tracking/control) over our freedoms. They united against We the People, instead of for a more noble "Free the Slaves" cause. (as in that "anti-future" comic above)

119 RE the rainbow alphabet being forced on the public...

I'm kind of a name geek, like to see when certain given names become popular, then inevitably decrease in use. Most names follow a trajectory of a slow rise and then a slow fall. Some make a quick jump due to a pop culture influence, such as "Michelle" suddenly popping when the Beatles released that song, or the name "Cora" becoming current as a result of the publication of The Last of the Mohicans.

I saw one exception, and that was the name, Caitlyn, which made a sudden serious drop in the year 2015. What occurred that year? Bruce Jenner declared he was transitioning and adopting the name Caitlyn. American moms were so turned off by that action that the name became radioactive wrt their little baby girls.

121 Incurable insecurity and projection-based paranoia so common to the Left. Remember the crazed warnings about Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson back in the 70s and 80s? They reflexively impute terrors to conservatives and do so without the slightest consciousness of history and experience. Not one of them has bothered to reflect on how Trump did nothing that they predicted (such as cancelling the election, the same thing they predicted Bush would do).

In fact, the democrats are doing almost everything Trump was accused of doing and every republican was expected to do (e.g., trample civil liberties).

I send something using the USPS. I get an email that says that it has been delivered.

But it hasn't. In the first case, it was before Christmas and the package I sent west was delivered around 11:00 pm while the official delivery time was 8:45pm.

I ordered something and it was supposed to be delivered Saturday, by 8:00pm. I get an email saying it's delivered. Nope. Was delivered this morning.

149 I'm reading that SCOTUS just handed down a unanimous ruling on an illegal alien case and ruled against the illegal alien.

Progress.
_____________

Yep. Case was being hyped by all the usual suspects on the left, including the contemptible Lie-a-watha Warren, as a stealth way to give legal status to millions of illegals already living in the U.S., without having to pass a new amnesty law.

Case involved an El Salvador man who had entered the U.S. illegally, lived here for years, received temporary protected status (which allows him to stay, supposedly temporarily, but we all know they never leave), then tried to use his TPS to apply for permanent legal resident status. But the court said no, because he entered the U.S. illegally he is not entitled to apply for PLR status. Getting TPS doesn't magically make his illegal entry disappear.

9-0 decision against the illegal alien.

In fairness, Manchin may have just killed HB 1 (the voting bill). He and Sinema have both come out against killing the filibuster, so Schumer doesn't have full control over the party.

That said, a major problem is that the GOP spent so much time and effort over the decades building up the economic philosophy of the party that they have let differences on the social policy side widen. Additionally, the Dem losses after the passage of ObamaCare cleared away a lot of old Blue Dog dems who in the past might have cause headaches for Schumer.

2) convince marks to roll the dice on Door#2 Masked RINO
3) fade to black with "aw shucks fooled again" soundtrack.

That God hasn't sent a correction that will cause some to see is and change their ways may be a sign He has washed His hands of them, And while God doesn't want anyone to be lost, the sadness He feels on that last day won't be the same as the regret of those who chose to live against God experience.

I remember attending a wedding at All Souls Unitarian Church in NYC years ago. Right above the altar were two squiggly lines that symbolized the Cross. Gave me an idea of what I was going to see at the service.

Forrest Church was the pastor at the time. The guy admitted to an extramarital affair, and a good part of the church left after he refused to resign over it. The funny part is that most of the church stayed - they didn't care at all. Told me everything I needed to know about Unitarians.

The good thing about them, I suppose, is that I knew people who were reticent about going to church because they were once atheists, who were welcomed by the Unitarians. I always prayed that these people would eventually move up the ladder once they got used to going to church on Sundays.

This is simply a repetition of the ages-old war on classical philosophy through the lens of Roussieu.

The classical line of thinking was that humanity - created by God - has an order etched into them, and by delaying gratification and practicing the virtues, one can become a more whole human.

Roussieu's line of thinking is that belief in God, and anything resembling classical virtues is simply the fever dream of insane bigots and that the only way to achieve human wholeness is to satisfy every sort of indulgence whenever you want it.

So in a sense, he's not technically wrong, but like every other Progressive, employs a steady sense of wordfeels to hide his true desire for a world fueled by nothing less than pure will and gaslighting 24/7.

They are big on the closet. Inside the closet, they don't care. You try to fly your freak flag, you get incarcerated or killed. Because China is asshoe.

I get things from my local small post office ... they have to scan it with different scanners I think. Maybe someone got lazy and just scanned yours as "delivered" when they were really just receiving it. ... For smaller packages that fit in my mail box, I get the email when it arrives at my mail box, which is convenient, since it is a half mile from my house.

If he only started attending church after marrying, he wasn't Catholic. I'm tired of the media and others acting like there's an ethnic element to Catholicism. If you're not meeting the most basic requirements of Catholicism -and that includes a weekly Mass obligation, as well as all Holy Days of Obligation- you're not Catholic. I don't care if your parents were. I don't care if you were baptized a Catholic, or made your First Communion in the church. So don't blame us for guys like this Pavlovitz

300 China is somewhat socially conservative in regards to gay stuff. Probably around where we were in the 90s - no gay marriage or anything like that and gay stuff doesn't often show up in the media, but they do tolerate it since they have such a gender imbalance.
Presumably then China is just using globohomo to weaken the west, and like the Islamists would react if their puppets in the west tried to force globohomo on them.

The only thing I can figure is that they control the voting machines and have a total lock on funding. So they can end someone's career if they wish, and Republicans are more widely supported and cannot rely on fraud to fix elections in most areas.

308 Looks like folks have put together Stuart Damon and Alexandra Bastedo in "The Champions", so on to the trivia.

Stuart's still kicking but Alexandra passed away relatively young at age 67 in 2014.

Also, it appears there was a follow on TV movie to "The Champions". "Legend of the Champions" in 1983, pulling a respectable 7.6/10 on the IMDB rating scale.

Damon did play on General Hospital as Dr. Alan Quartermain. And a bit more obscurely, he played Tony Verdeschi's brother in a 2nd season episode of Space: 1999 as well as Parks in the 1st season ep, "Matter of Life and Death".

310 This was in my local online paper:

We are looking for poetry/spoken word to be preformed at the pride bbq! Themes of diversity, gender, sexuality, mental health, relationships, etc. under a LGBTQIA lens are preferred. Take this opportunity to share your work with the community.

Because you couldn't possibly be a poet who happens to be gay without addressing your sexual orientation/sarc. Somehow Walt Whitman managed it, but he's an old dead white guy.
