The Wuhan Cover-Up, Part 2: Peter Daszak Went To Wuhan And All He Got Was This "Everything Looks Fine to Me, I Have No Questions" T-Shirt

Continuing from yesterday, excerpting the Vanity Fair article.

To refresh:

* Peter Daszak funneled money through his company EcoHealth Alliance from the US government to the Wuhan Institute of Virology

* Peter Daszak was also working on gain-of-function research... supposedly in the US.

* Peter Daszak was also working with Shi Zenglii, "The Bat Lady," on bat virues.

* He claims, or at least Fauci claims on his behalf, that while he was working on gain-of-function and funding Wuhan, and working with the Bat Lady, he certainly did not fund or work with the Bat Lady on gain-of-function!

No siree Bob!

* Peter Daszak wrote the Lancet Statement, a filthily political document that "settled" the question of a lab leak not by presenting science, but by denouncing anyone who asked questions about a lab link as a racist trying to help conspiracy theorists harass and harm Chinese scientists. And he "bullied" other scientists into signing it or accepting it as true. But he hid the fact that he wrote the statement, and hid the fact that he was the primary organizing force collecting the signatures.

More on this later.

Now, obviously, Peter Daszak has a very, very strong personal and financial interest in the virus not having come from the lab of his very dear friend, The Bat Lady.

So who did WHO choose to go to Wuhan to investigate the possibility of a lab leak?

You know who.

In early July, the World Health Organization invited the U.S. government to recommend experts for a fact-finding mission to Wuhan, a sign of progress in the long-delayed probe of COVID-19's origins. Questions about the WHO's independence from China, the country's secrecy, and the raging pandemic had turned the anticipated mission into a minefield of international grudges and suspicion.

Within weeks, the U.S. government submitted three names to the WHO: an FDA veterinarian, a CDC epidemiologist, and an NIAID virologist. None were chosen. Instead, only one representative from the U.S. made the cut: Peter Daszak.

Quelle surprise! Quel plot twist!

Okay, so I added that as an update to yesterday's post.

I've read further, and now want to add this:


On January 14, 2021, Daszak and 12 other international experts arrived in Wuhan to join 17 Chinese experts and an entourage of government minders. They spent two weeks of the monthlong mission quarantined in their hotel rooms. The remaining two-week inquiry was more propaganda than probe, complete with a visit to an exhibit extolling President Xi's leadership. The team saw almost no raw data, only the Chinese government analysis of it.

They paid one visit to the Wuhan Institute of Virology, where they met with Shi Zhengli, as recounted in an annex to the mission report. One obvious demand would have been access to the WIV's database of some 22,000 virus samples and sequences, which had been taken offline. At an event convened by a London organization on March 10, Daszak was asked whether the group had made such a request.

He said there was no need: Shi Zhengli had stated that the WIV took down the database due to hacking attempts during the pandemic.

"Absolutely reasonable," Daszak said. "And we did not ask to see the data... As you know, a lot of this work has been conducted with EcoHealth Alliance... We do basically know what's in those databases. There is no evidence of viruses closer to SARS-CoV-2 than RaTG13 in those databases, simple as that."

In fact, the database had been taken offline on September 12, 2019, three months before the official start of the pandemic, a detail uncovered by Gilles Demaneuf and two of his DRASTIC colleagues.

This was our "investigator."

This was the guy we sent to China, who came back home and said, "Nothing to see here."

The guy who did not even ask to see China's data.

The guy who said it was "absolutely reasonable" that China disappeared the data, supposedly due to risk of theft. (Shouldn't the world have that data in a pandemic?)

And of course-- Shi Zhengli lied. The data had been taken offline not after the official outbreak of the pandemic, but just after the real outbreak of the pandemic, when Wuhan researchers and their families started getting ill with covid-like symptoms, in September 2019.

A couple of months before a bat supposedly infected a human at the Wuhan wet market.

Everything's fine! No additional questions need to be asked!

We can all trust the Chinese government, as well as Shi Zhengli the Bat Lady who would of course be executed by the government if she contradicted them.

Now: About that bit about Peter Daszak organizing the Lancet Statement... but not signing it himself.

That was not an oversight.

He organized it, he wrote it, but did not admit he wrote it. He did sign it, but not as the author and principle motivator -- just as another name on a list.

And initially he wanted to avoid signing it completely.

Let's refresh what this Statement did, and what Peter Daszak did behind the scenes:

It was so influential it cowed most experts into refusing even to consider that the virus could have been man-made and escaped from the Wuhan Institute

'The Lancet letter was scientific propaganda and a form of thuggery and intimidation,' Jamie Metzl --who now on the World Health Organization’s advisory committee on human genome editing, told DailyMail.com

Daszak sat on a panel that cleared a Chinese government lab in Wuhan of being the cause of the worldwide Covid-19 outbreak

He was hand-picked by the WHO as the only U.S.-based member of the team

Experts say Daszak has conflicts of interest that 'unequivocally disqualify him from being part of an investigation of the origins of the Covid-19 pandemic'

Now, why didn't he admit he wrote the Statement, and bullied other scientists into signing?


He did not admit his authorship of the statement precisely so that his massive conflict-of-interest would not be visible.

He hid his key role in contacting the scientists and asking them to denounce the lab-leak theory-- and even directly told a coworker of his not to sign the Statement, so that their role in it could remain hidden from the public!

Daszak drafted the statement and circulated it to other scientists to sign. But the emails reveal that Daszak and two other EcoHealth-affiliated scientists thought they should not sign the statement so as to mask their involvement in it. Leaving their names off the statement would give it "some distance from us and therefore doesn't work in a counterproductive way," Daszak wrote.

By which he means: If people know our massive conflict of interest here, they will discount our shrieks that "It wasn't us!" for obvious reasons.

So we'll just hide that fact from them.

Daszak noted that he could "send it round" to other scientists to sign. "We'll then put it out in a way that doesn't link it back to our collaboration so we maximize an independent voice," he wrote.

You mean-- fraudulently hide your collaboration, and dishonestly pretend there's an "independent voice" here.

The two scientists Daszak wrote to about the need to make the paper appear independent of EcoHealth, are coronavirus experts Ralph Baric and Linfa Wang.

In the emails, Baric agreed with Daszak's suggestion not to sign The Lancet statement, writing "Otherwise it looks self-serving, and we lose impact."

A little, Peter.

You killed millions.

What size neck do you have?

Oh wait, was that over the line?

How about this: How do you think you'll hold up in prison, Pete? Do you lift, brah? Do you box, brah?

And how much money do you have? How does the prospect of a literally global class action lawsuit against you sound? With millions of litigants suing for your killing of their loved ones?

It is, for now.

But here's my problem with this recent push against Fauci. A not insignificant portion of us have been pushing the idea, with merit, that "of covid" is vanishingly small compared to the "with covid" numbers. That covid was a real virus, but it has the aggregate effect of essentially being the flu. A disease that can knock the healthy back a bit, but mostly just kills the very old.

Do I despise Fauci? Yes. Do I despise him because his virus killed millions? Well, no, because it arguably didn't do that. I despise him because he used his power to lock down the entire fucking planet to cover his ass.

My mother didn't die of covid, but covid did kill her. Being locked away from family for months on end. Absolutely shoddy medical care when she was in a hospital because staff would have to "suit up" to go in to her room. Nursing home care was mediocre. Staff there could be with her (and go out partying after their shift), yet family could only visit through a window. Her thinking we abandoned her because she wasn't able to understand the events going on.
Yeah, hoping for Fauci's comeuppance and punishment is very personal to me.

While I am quite outraged with what our opponents on the Left are doing, and have no problems saying so in virtual-land, it's quite a different story when you're at a taskforce meeting, and you have a neighbor that you like that is on the opposite side of an issue. It's very, very hard to stick to your principles when the first impulse is to moderate for the purposes of an illusory social cohesion.

I, for one, need to get better about that, so I have almost boundless admiration for someone like Trump today (or Palin almost 15 years ago) that just tells it like it is. Really not a fan of the GOPe, but I understand where the impulse comes from, at least at a human level.

It was worse than that. It was a statistical survey, where they take a random sample. But they got local activists to point them to the houses to sample, and they got activists scientists to go along, and instead of a random sample, it was a directed sample of people who had family who died. Then, of course those people inflated their self reports. Basically, it was worse than an internet survey.

I've seen many claim they've been cured of stage 4 cancer using this stuff. I looked up how they were doing it a couple of years back, but don't remember the protocol now. If I had stage 4 I can't think of a reason I wouldn't do it. Either poison yourself and be sick AF for a few extra months, or try and fail and bow out faster.

I'm sorry I didn't know about this when my dog had stomach cancer back in 2012. I did alternate treatments then - vitamin C IV's - and she lasted about 6 months longer than the best case with chemo. She was happy and active all the way up until the last week. Trump got it with his stance on right to try.

Is there any benefit to taking this after I've recovered? I've been out of the hospital for two weeks (5 day regiment of Remdemsivir). Any thing more than a casual walk leaves me winded. Pre-Covid I lifted weights 5 days a week.
