3 Good Morning Morons. Today is Saturday, May 29, 2021, Memorial Day weekend. On this day in 2001 the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the disabled golfer Casey Martin can use a cart to ride in tournaments. (Carts had been banned in professional tournaments.)

Mornin', all. Got paid when I expected, so there are things I need to buy for the house, and maybe some new clothes. Most of the stores here are done with the face diaper hysteria (and strangely, so is my employer, if you pretend you've gotten the antifreeze shot), so I can actually shop like a real person. Otherwise: coffee, a little toast, possibly a morning pipe of Sir Walter Raleigh, wash the car, wash me, and shave. Then the real breakfast!

My Saturday to work, so have been up since 4.30; should be finished soon. I plan to head over to the cigar shop, smoke a couple of sticks, then drive out to a used book store I know and hang out there for an hour or two.

Then back home to relax. It's a chilly, rainy day here in Maskachusetts, so a good day to perhaps watch a movie or two.

Beyond that, not much. And now back to work. 216 days to go.

I didn't realize that Casey's case went to the USSC; he had a heart transplant iirc. But I did know that he played a role in the 'reasonable accommodation' definition of the ADA.

But like many such rulings, it eventually applied to make accommodations to carpenters that couldn't read a ruler etc etc etc, ie

a clusterfuck. And so it goes.

Loudon County used to be horse country. Now it is Horse's ass country. If you drive through that county towards WV you will see homes that look like castles, they look like sets from The Princess Bride. They have homes that would make Potomac MD blush. It is funny this happened in Leesburg, a place so hip they forgot to cancel themselves.

There is an election coming in VA this year. It is a big deal and it has always been a big deal. In the past, Repubs did well in the governor's race if a Dem was president at the time. Really everything, and I mean everything and everyone should be focused on this race. It is tradition, there is nothing new going on here. This is traditionally the first step Repubs can make to claw back some power in a way that people will notice.

86 In my personal opinion the state is lost. Loudon used to be conservative, at least nominal Repub if statist. HEll, in my lifetime Fairfax County was nominal Republican. But Loudon is another matter, again this was horse country, "real Virginia". I am not saying give up, I am saying fight like dogs. But If I had to bet, not way a Repub wins the governorship. If I am wrong, I will be glad of it. That is the one office the electorate used to deign to allow Repubs to still win. When was the last time a Repub won a Senate race in Virginia?

Just identifying, unfortunately, won't get me out of this ugly swamp and close to mountains again.

My new boss is trying to sell his house in Oklahoma City. Unlike everywhere else in the country, he says, "nobody wants to live in OKC." 89 Sure people are fighting back, and they are mostly being cancelled. Sure we keep hearing about Loudon County, as if it is a flash point like Austin, GA, or some other place. I am glad people are fighting back. I hope the turn out is so huge it is insurmountable. I recall when Trump won in 2016, people kept looking at VA, just like Trump, thinking they had to win this time. I am no longer buying it. It is a numbers game now. It used to be NOVA vs the rest of the state. And Loudon was part of the rest of the state. Now the Dems rule all over the place. Sure there are still more red areas, but they are much, much less densely populated. Once you have lost Fredericksburg, to be honest, you have no cities small or large left.

He trained at Benning at some other base for AIT. When he got to Benning, they told him to forget the stress cards, they were not applicable on that base. At least that was something. Sure it was proof of a sad change, but at least the change had some resistance at one point. But even his stories are dated now. In my day if you said you were gay, you were out, and that was not that long ago. STill we have great troops in spite of the civilian leadership, I hope it holds.

the major interstates often do nothing for a state. All I recall about TN on the interstate was you could never get good radio reception. In Arkansas, you were either going towards Little Rock or leaving Little Rock. Even 81 in Virginia is just so so. it misses most of the beauty by design. Go a few miles over to Interstate 11 or a few the other direction and Skyline Drive and then Blue Ridge Parkway, and it is a very different thing.

he has been on it for some time. Since it is the Senior Tour, aka the "Champion's Tour" it has not garnered the same attention. The big issue was maybe twenty years or so ago, I am not sure of the dates. But there was a promising golfer who I think played on the same college team as Tiger Woods. That was one Hell of a team by the way at Stanford, Notah Begay was also a member. He is the Native American golfer who used to be very close to Tiger and he seems like a really good guy, he used to do a lot of commenting but not sure what he is up to now.
The guy's name was Casey Martin. He was very talented and could legit play on the Tour. But he had a degenerative disease that pretty much ended his career. He wanted to use a cart in PGA Tour events and he took the case all the way to the Supreme Court as I recall. He lost. The Court had to decide if walking was an intrinsic part of the sport, yeah, it is weird. I think that is the story, and if I have something off I am not fact checking myself, only trying to give you the gist of the story.

I don't get this line of thinking. Trump is many things, but one of them isn't a medical man. He deferred. Sadly, he deferred to this rotten, nefarious little liar, but we were all faced with The Big Unknown about this early last year. In retrospect, yes, he should've taken a different path and yes, he should've modified his support of Fauci along the way (many times) and he didn't. If he's at fault for anything, it's that. This was unchartered territory and Trump knew nothing about it. But IMO he didn't deserve to lose* over it. JMHO...

I'm still pissed off at Mandel for leaving the race against Sherrod "Restraining Order" Brown to get a hush hush divorce and not giving his campaign war chest, much of which was donated to eradicate the stench of Brown, to Renacci's underfunded effort; so he can piss up a rope. If JD Vance doesn't enter the race I guess Timken will be ok. I don't think Ryan has wide appeal in a MAGA state if anyone runs a strong campaign.

I wish someone high exposure would primary DeWine. I doubt that many people know that much about Joe Blystone although Mikey's unpopularity seems to escape the state party dipshits.

teaching. It has been a wonderful job, even though the last year has
been difficult what with masks and desks spread six feet apart. Still, a
good day of teaching beats anything else I could have done. I am very
grateful I was able to teach in a Catholic school. My faith has always
been a part of the job. Now, on to other things that don't require
grading papers or planning lessons.

I'm going to the Indy 500 tomorrow!

The moment that did it for me was watching him receive some sort of challenge coin from a fellow Republican right before doing a celebratory elbow-bump with Pelosi immediately after removing Trump from office.

258 Really stupid to bash Trump for the early response to COVID. Let's see what he was faced with - they knew people we potentially dying in droves in Wuhan ( the crematoria gambit), they imagined they were dealing with a lab accident with a disease they had never seen before, and we were (because of obozo) woefully unprepared for an outbreak event. The beginnings of his responses were good to great, once the panic train left the station and was played up by the media he and we by extension lost control. And no one could have imagined what some of these stupid blue state governors were going to do. And they still had to steal the election.

Whoever ran the Restraining Order's campaign ran a lot of feel good low information ads that made him look like a regular human being. I guess those were to counteract the ads Mandel, while he was still in the race, blitzed my televised with featuring Urban Meyer and a cute girl with Down's syndrome. DeWine is *really* vulnerable for anyone who feels like taking the gloves off. Getting booed at a Trump rally, which DJT noticed, wasn't a one off.

333 {{{SMH}}}

In the open works when no one can stop you.

But that is no longer true. We need some sneakiness and unexpected actions at the operational level for strategic wins.

I guess it does not matter, because we have few strategic wins in recent memory.

334 Whoa. Did you tell your dad?

--

No, and I really should've. On the first occasion, I was less than 10 and it was our next door neighbor. I was too frightened and didn't know what to think! The second time I was about 16 and did tell my mom, who had to eventually change our phone number because of it all.

336 Have any of you morons gotten an email from a group that calls themselves "ReaganTrump"?

I know nothing at all about them, and they may be legit but the name sounds exactly like one of those name disguises use by Democrat flak groups pushing for the exact opposite of their name.

The only thing that would make it more perfecter is if they called it -

"Lifelong Patriots for the ReaganTrump Way of American Governance, Morals, and Life"

339 221> Absolutely correct-Trump was not/is not a medicine man. I do wish he had a better Rolodex that included people with a higher intelligence/ knowledge in areas he was not proficient in. I do believe the country would have faired better thru the Com-Chi planned lung rot pandemic if he was acquainted with better informed medical/scientific professionals. I also believe if Cuomo had not done what he did by sending sick people to the nursing homes there would not have been such hysteria in the NY/NJ area.
Trump did not lose. The election was stolen.

340 Nevergiveup

Good morning, Sir.

Don't beat yourself up for past votes. We have emerged from a tunnel of lies with respect to voting. We see clearer. And in aggregate, our binary choices were very flawed in the past.

Still, in the past, voting did matter. We have to struggle to make that happen in the future.

Posted by: NaCly Dog at May 29, 2021 07:53 AM (u82oZ)

341 Salty, I get what you're saying.

Humor is one thing, which is what is used here to de-stress. And things, of course, are said out of frustrated anger and betrayal.

Actually putting your plans out on blast...different story.

Trump is a credentialist, and DC exploited that.

My donating days are over, unless someone can prove themselves to be value for my vote and money.

Otherwise, the Chinese are doing a great job donating to both political parties.

Maybe we can write it into law that the only legal campaign money is Chinese money. Sounds like a win-win.

350 This country owes so much to the Orange Big Mouth. If someone had told me before Trump the US was a country with all its institutions, government and private, corrupt to the core and that our elections are a sham, I wouldn't have believed it.

At least now we know.

351 I've watched that Biden video several times even though it creeps me out. How long before he actually grabs a little girl and shoves his hand under her dress in full view of the public? The guy is a pedo through and through. Just look at his face as he's gushing over her. Blech!

352 SMH

Point taken.

I should remember that we have a lot going for us like combat experience and a solid NCO corps.

China has bigger problems than we do. Such as strong corruption. Just some newer equipment and a more pragmatic government. Evil, but organized and grounded in what works.

How many times will we choke on our disappointment, rant about being deceived and pissed upon before we look at our ballots and realize that they have effectively destroyed our voice? As for myself, I'll vote for my county Sheriff and the PA . The rest of the ballot will be a waste of ink.

363 258 Really stupid to bash Trump for the early response to COVID.
