Quick Hits: Something To Tide You Over Until the Next Covid Post Edition

LOL: Atlanta congressman who voted to defund police is carjacked and dragged along the road and he clings impotently to the car door.

Atlanta councilman running for mayor who voted for 'Defund the Police' measure is dragged down the road and almost killed by kids as young as seven who stole his Mercedes during day

While at a ribbon-cutting in northwest Atlanta on Wednesday morning, four people hopped into councilman Antonio Brown's car and took off

Police said around 11:45am Brown got out of his car and the thieves tried to take it

Brown held on and was dragged for a block before he let go

Brown says the thieves appear to be children from 7 to 11 years old

He claims it took 45 minutes for police to arrive because it was assigned as a low-priority dispatch

Two hilarious things: 1, this motherfucker actually called the cops, and 2, the cops decided to... take their own sweet time in responding.

Fuck you, asshole. You get what you deserve.

Brown filed a police report and his car was found hours later

...

Brown voted for an ordinance that would've withheld $73 million from the city's police budget

...

The incident happened as Atlanta deals with a crime surge, with murders up 59 percent and car thefts up 25 percent from a year ago, as of May 22. There have been 54 murders in Atlanta compared to 34 at this time in 2020, as well as 284 shootings, up 46 percent from a year ago.

More on Antonio Brown from Deb Heine.

Earpiece Guy. This is a parody. I... think.

Muh Private Monopolies Who Essentially Use the Government As Their Piggybanks!

Here's that story.

Republican Sen. Josh Hawley and Democrat Sen. Bernie Sanders have joined forces to condemn a $10 billion "bailout" for Blue Origin, a space flight company founded by Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, hidden in a bill to rebuff China.

The measure to provide Bezos' company with billions in relief was part of an amendment to the Endless Frontier Act, which is aimed at increasing U.S. competitiveness with China through science and technology development. Fox Business reports that the amendment was authored by Sen. Maria Cantwell, a Washington Democrat in charge of the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, and Sen. Roger Wicker, a Mississippi Republican.

The Senate is currently voting on amendments to the bill, which are expected to cost around $130 billion. “Whether the package sinks or swims without use of "reconciliation," which would require only 50 votes to pass, depends on whether Republicans are satisfied with the amendments that make their way into the bill. GOP members have introduced hundreds of amendments, and not all will get a vote," Fox Business reported.

Bezos' space venture is shit and failure should not be subsidized. Especially not to the tune of $10 billion.

Elon Musk is doing just fine without subsidies.

The redpilling of Al Gore's former fashion adviser Naomi Wolf continues:

The Human Potato -- wait, is he human? Kurt Schlichter reports he is simply, literally, a potato -- attacks Fox for... not having enough dissenting opinions on its panel shows.

Say, Tater, which conservative Trump supporters will be on your show this Sunday? Or any Sunday?

Steve Hayes tweeted something wrong about the 2008 election, something obviously wrong that no one posing as a "pundit" should get wrong.

He claimed that Trump saw the worst loss in Congress ever.

He conveniently overlooked the performance of George Bush and John McCain.

Because Steve Hayes, a proven loser, relies upon claims that he's Smarter Than You and Knows Stuff So That's Why You Must Vote for the Democrats He Tells You to Vote For, he doesn't want such blatant errors about very recent history known.

So he deleted it.

What's amusing is his claimed reason for deleting it:

I like how Steve Hayes claims he's deleting this not because it is super-embarrassing for this thin-skinned narcissist tool, but rather because his twitter timeline is so influential that if he left it up, the misinformation would spread like wildfire!

It's so noble of him to delete his Vital Writings in order to save the republic from a plague of disinformation!

I may be unreasonable, but I can't behind her or her change of mind. If her change is true, then good. Maybe she will avoid eternal damnation.

But this world of aggressive socialism, state power, indifference to fact and constant insider dealing is a world that she helped to create. These are her people and, in part, this is her doing.

This is the world *you* worked to build, Naomi. The world of ruin around is what you spent decades agitating for and contributing to. Do your penance in your soul, but never ever try to deny your complicity and volition in its making.

Whenever a lib (including RINOs at the Bulwark and such) shits on Trump's 2020 reelection campaign, I like to remind them of the actual numbers:

2016- Trump gets about 63 million votes
2020- He gets 74 million votes

I don't know how much more you can ask from a candidate then increasing votes by about 18% in the middle of non-stop negative press over a global pandemic. And bringing a more diverse Republican electorate than most recent candidates, as that seems to be of critical importance as well.

He can overpower a kid. He can control a kid.

No, of course it doesn't, because that would be insane, right?

But we'll pretend we didn't have an entire summer of riots and people demanding that police be abolished, that just so happened to coincide with a large increase in crime in our cities. A decade from now, criminal researchers will have no idea why crime increased. It's a weird data anomaly, most likely relating to something Trump did.

Oh, it's a whole movement. We're making fun of these "fringe" people, but take a look at the culture around us. Look at new kids books being sold. Look at the Tranny Reading Hour stuff. Look at the curriculum in schools, and what is being taught to very young children about sex. Or young children being encouraged to "transition."

Or... anything. This is the next big thing. The idea that we infantilize you children by trying to repress their sexuality is becoming mainstream.

My friend's nutjob wife is teaching her kids about "consent" by telling them that everyone (including mommy and daddy) need permission before hugging or touching their own children and telling them about date rape and pedophiles and stuff. The kids are like 3 and 5. Which is fine by me, I prefer you keep your kids away from me. But still... that cannot do well for a childs psyche.

Regarding Harry's attractiveness, I'm trying to remember if there were many female-fronted bands at the time she came out. Fleetwood Mac, of course, had Nicks and McVie, but I think that Harry stood out at the time. The GoGos, which came out at around the same time, had a similar appeal.

139 Hoo-boy, that last tweet, Hell, the whole twitter debate over whether Pride parades should be "family friendly" is BANANAS.

Anyone who wants to expose your young kids to blatant sexuality -- deviant sexuality -- is only wanting to ensure your kids will "consent" to it *with them*, the sooner the better as Sam up there indicates.

This is old, and yet it remains relevent because the Left keeps pushing: https://tinyurl.com/jr7nbwdk

the Left works assiduously to decouple sex from a person's own sense of bodily privacy and, by extension, self-ownership. If a person has no sense of autonomy, that person is a ready-made cog for the statist machinery. . .

Once a child individuates, he becomes aware of being his own self. . . The most basic thing one can own is one's own self, and not letting others touch that self in ways you don't like is an exercise in self-ownership.

Her Majesty usually puts a large Purina towel on her grooming table at shows. But this week she's at our National Specialty in Wilmington, OH at the Roberts Centre, which is owned by Eukanuba. We had to dig around for a large Eukanuba towel because they won't allow her to use a Purina one.

Next week, she's at shows in Gray Summit, MO at Purina Farms. For which she now has to switch back to a Purina towel, since the Eukanuba one is right out.

Many moons ago, the Houston Series of Dog Shows was sponsored by Pedigree, who had a huge booth, while Eukanuba had a poky little setup. I was tasked with finding something in which to put the tissues, hand sanitizer, etc. for each of the 20-odd rings. I saw that Eukanuba had some little soft-side coolers that would work. I diffidently asked whether I could borrow 20-odd of them. "Borrow? You can have them!" I was told. Pedigree pitched a fit when they saw Eukanuba coolers at each ring. Sponsors seem to take this seriously.

175 383 HP, CRT, Blaster, others.
The problem that the media including social media giants are that no one in their target audience trusts them anymore. Even in the Soviet Union, during its waning days, despite almost total control over what media existed, the spell was gone--no one other than apparatchiks believed them. The whole limited hangout tactic used too many times simply does not work anymore because everyone believes that more to the story exists. They went to the Big Lie too often and have basically destroyed their own credibility as shills.

Essentially, the mass media wizards spell is broken and not even Fox, Conservative Media TM, etc. can put Humpty Dumpty back together again. Don't mistake people mouthing platitudes for actual belief. In an era of coercion, soft or otherwise, people will mouth the slogans but not believe them. because the facts that even the media cannot hide disprove the stories that they push as fiction as truth. Some people are gullible but as Lincoln said, you can fool some of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time; but not all of the people all of the time.

Unfortunately I do not think we have turned that corner yet. Too many people still buy it all, hook line and sinker. My mother is a genius, and conservative as can be, she just watches broadcast news and whatever the yahoo feed on her phone tells her.

She was shocked to find out that Brian Sicknick dies of a stroke. I said I had known that since January 8. That it was a knowable FACT since January 8. But the truth finally came out about it. Has anything changed materially? No, Republicans in the House are voting for an investigation into the deadly insurrection.

We've got a long way to go, and a short time to get there.

270 There's a great story in the book "Love Goes to Building on Fire" where Patti Smith was trying to filch drummer Clem Burke from Blondie, after already having wooed away their bass player. Debbie caught wind that Patti Smith was calling Blondie a "second rate band" (which, admittedly, they kinda were at that point) and when Smith came prowling around a Blondie soundcheck, Debbie had had enough and went after her, claws out.

In the end, Clem stayed, and Blondie sold more records than Smith could ever dream of.

With Trump's removal, much of it is picking up momentum.

See astounding story about attempt to mau-mau Exxon on ridiculous "climate" nonsense - which will almost surely work. How? Major institutional investors, and not just predictably the swollen stashes of unearned loot in public employee pension funds, are clicking their heels and saying "Heil Hitler!".

Oh - and related though separate, the border is being effectively erased at least WRT mass illegal migration, it's a flood, BP and ICE are defanged or reduced to greeters/facilitators, and not a single one of these migrants will ever face any rule of law, much less removal. And it's not even 6 months into a minimum 4 years of this.

280 250 blaster,
One has to often disregard what people say and instead watch what they are doing. For example, leaving cities for the countryside does not really support the idea of BLM being wonderful. Or buying firearms, and any other number of things. The recent climate change survey about how much would people pay despite paying lip service that it was a problem indicates that a lot of people will pay lip service to whatever crap is floating in the media pool but not actually act on it.

People in the decaying rule of the Soviets mouthed all kinds of platitudes, but did not believe what they themselves said.

334 245 In a lot of cities driving the right car is the most important thing. But in the ATL it seems to be that on steroids. The funniest thing to me is a parking lot of a mid level apartment building with $50k cars parked outside. Like bro step back for a second and see if you can find the problem with this setup.
Posted by: Joe XiDen at May 27, 2021 02:56 PM (xSsm7)

Which might explain why there's a big problem with grand theft auto in ATL. My parents used to remind me of this when I worked there.

My Ford's worth is definitely nowhere near 50k so I was spared that horror of going somewhere only to find my car stolen shortly after.

348 Early 90s, I was in a mailing list on Queensryche. As bands go, QR seemed to be closer to conservative than most other bands, which is probably why their fan-base tended to be quite a bit more conservative.

It was kind of funny reading people writing "And then Tate goes off into his lib shit....".

Again, one of their main hits was about crime and how underfunded law enforcement was, which Tate does a whole monologue in the bridge about.

But, he was from Seattle, so, you know...

And the popular concept of bouncing off a bottom of degradation has always puzzled me, as I don't see it much in real life. And not a bit of it in American political life. There must be some remaining limits, but difficult to see them when looking realistically at how things are actually going.

The wealth of the country is/will subsidize far more than enough cultural and other decline for the free-fall to be sustainable, for a long time.

Probably because Mann got all the attention. No one knows Joe Pesce's name. Though he's a riot in Goodfellas.

Interesting one of the other roadies went to the keyboard on stage as we were setting up and played the notes from Close Encounters. Ten minutes later we heard it again. No one was at the keyboard. And then again. Turns out the keyboard had repeating playback which was innovative at the time. Then the professional roadies told us the whole band was "programmed" - the drum machine was the trigger to begin a song. Once the drummer hit the pads the first time the song played automatically. Didn't matter what drums he hit, or what keys the keyboardist hit. Unknown whether Mann's guitar was recorded.

397 277 Rhomboid, institutions and the political system are downstream from culture and there is no there there as Gertrude Stein would say regarding our predominant leftist culture. You cannot build utopia if you are busy destroying what existed before. Who can truly admire Hollywood, literari, the media, our Tech giants, universities, the education system, abortion on demand, corporations, or the Democrat party when the unseamly grubbing for dollars, being bought by foreign countries, and lack of personal ethics involving money or sex is involved. They have no ability to inspire anything anymore nor create.

Even Lenin got that lesson hard in the aftermath of the Russian Revolution. It basically took a despotic Stalin who killed without mercy to even attempt the wet dreams of the Reds. Even Stalin, in the depths of WWII had to revive the older Mother Russia memes to prop up his regime during the dark times of WWII. The hollowing out of institutions by leftists has ironically led to its inability to effectively exercise power except by mindless thrashings of its organs. No respect eventually turns into no fear, which undermines the regime itself ultimately.

In other words, "get the vax to get antibodies, but there is no test out there that can tell if the vax is giving you antibodies, got it? And even if you got the CCP Lung flu and got over it, you probably don't have antibodies."

But.. maybe I am reading it wrong.

The hollowing out of institutions by leftists has ironically led to its inability to effectively exercise power except by mindless thrashings of its organs. No respect eventually turns into no fear, which undermines the regime itself ultimately.

You hear this?

The reason why orientals get attacked by colored peoples is because orientals are "white adjacent," which makes them ostensibly "white," therefore they deserve being attacked by oppressed colored peoples.

White. Adjacent.

It's the new "white hispanic" and "white asian."

434 Can we please just do away with the concept of lgbtqwertybbq "education" for children? Kids should be riding bicycles, chasing frogs and bugs, playing with their dolls or toy trucks, learning to read and write, etc from an early age. lgbtqwertybbq is just a way to warp childrens' minds so sexual deviants feel better about their own mental illnesses.

443 BTW, I would not take any voting lessons from 2018 or 2020 nor in urban areas as indicative of anything due to long standing issues of voter fraud and vote harvesting operations operated by the Dems.
The GOPe craven cowards in office and their political consultants have adopted the idea of deflation of unifying political issues because they fear populism more. Thus, the GOPe resolutely refuses to actually do the work on mobilizing minorities in urban areas and recruit candidates because it might cost them in statewide races because of ticket splitting. So, the Dems more or less get to run their political safe districts in perpetuity. In addition, the GOPe corporatists are most often represented in urban districts as real estate developers and landlords who are the face of capitalism in the cities.

DeSantis, in Fla, won in part by his marginal increase in votes by minority mothers that liked his strong support of school choice and charter schools. Jack Kemp, won similarly in a depressed urban district, by emphasizing economic hope. The tinder is there for a rejuvenation of the American state, it just needs the proper leader to come forward which is not a GOPe apparatchik

446 428, Yes, but the gulag system was not very effective until Stalin purged anyone that looked at him cross eyed. During Lenin's era, the collapse in production of basic necessities risked overthrow of the Russian Revolution. Thus, the New Economic Policy adopted by Lenin. Vestiges even continued with the individual plots for agricultural workers becoming a necessary food source when communal agriculture proved incapable of feeding Russia. Stalin also had to relax his social control when the Germans came calling as he could not afford to kill everyone that might be deviant.

This is not saying that Lenin would not have liked to play the part that Stalin did but the state and the capability was simply not there. It is also fair to note that the work camps for political prisoners and criminals were created by the czar so Lenin took what was already there and adapted it to his needs, the same as the secret police.
