The Morning Report - 5/27/21

SzellFauci.jpg

Good morning kids. Thursday, so pick your poison from out of the turd-ducken of Jew-hate wrapped in America-hate, inside a flakey crust of soul-crushing totalitarianism, societal dissolution and non-stop agitprop, all slathered in a lugubrious, crawly cream sauce of foreign enemies hot and horny to pop us into the microwave. Literally (hell, this here is a food thread; what's CBD got that I don't? [don't answer that!]).

Yes, Anthony Fauci is an incompetent megalomaniacal bureaucrat who doesn't know his ass from his elbow and more than likely helped the Chi-Coms create and unleash a biological/psychological terror weapon on the world. Yes, every aspect of our society and government including our military and police are being "transitioned" into some hideous "woke" monster that will be totally useless except in their collective capacity to subjugate we the people of We The People. Yes, American Jews have to now hide any vestige or clue that might give them away to Democrat-Leftist protected goon squads now roving the streets with impunity and hopped up on a "lean/purple drank" cocktail of Critical Race Theory and the Protocols of the Elders of Zion ready for some mostly peaceful ass-kicking. And when I say Jews, you can throw in Asians, whites, Latinos and anyone deemed "an oppressor," meaning looking at them funny. Pro-tip: a MAGA hat is the new yarmulke.

Meh, while it all makes the blood boil, nothing in particular is really jumping out at me today, so let's just gaze at the whole stinking loaf of boiled shit en masse, through the eyes of Victor Davis Hanson:

...the American people are slowly regaining their senses after the epidemic of mass hysteria and insanity that gripped the nation in 2020. But Americans will wonder whether what Antifa, Black Lives Matter, and the hard Left wrought last year will last when the nation is no longer gripped by 2020 madness...

...Before 2020, the American people tired of the media farces surrounding such events as the Duke lacrosse team, the lies about the Covington kids, and Jussie Smollett's hoax about being attacked by white racists. Will they return to their earlier skepticism about media hype when it increasingly seems like the media and the government mostly lied when denying the possibility that the coronavirus leaked from a Wuhan lab engaged in "gain-of-function" engineering of dangerous viruses?

Will people still believe that "armed insurrectionists" on January 6, 2021 planned a "coup" and killed officer Brian Sicknick? As the hysteria fades, we are learning there were no arms anywhere. No one has been charged with treason, conspiracy, or insurrection. There are no conspiracy kingpins in custody. And Sicknick tragically died a day later from natural causes...

From March 2020 to March 2021 the country went through a mass hysteria. Despite its ideological pretensions, the collective insanity was not unlike the Tulip mania in early 17th-century Holland, the 1950s hula-hoop craze, or the great June bug hysteria of 1962.

But as Americans sober up, will they institutionalize or reject the frenzy remaining from the destructive stampede that took the country over the cliff during the most unhinged year in American history?

I would urge Professor Hanson to read Julie Kelly's report (I mean, she does write for the same site as you!) from yesterday as dozens of truly innocent people are still being held as political prisoners by this illegitimate junta for an insurrection that he rightly states never happened - except the one which overthrew the winner of the 2020 election and installed the lump of gibbering flesh known as Biden. But that said, the madness continues. It has to continue lest the bastards at the controls be removed, via elections (very much in doubt given what we witnessed courtesy of Dao-Min Yen last November) or, G-d forbid, with pitchforks, rope and lampposts.

No, the mass-hysteria will remain until morale improves. So long as the enemy controls the schools as well as the means of information dissemination, then nothing is really going to change for the better. That said, there are positive signs here and there, where information does leak out. A school board here, a community board there. What we have is no longer a silent majority but a silenced majority. And we're not going to cotton to being silenced much longer.

All of this chaos and turmoil coupled with a disastrous policy regime locally, nationally and internationally is, as the saying goes, "unsustainable." The shit is going to hit the fan, somehow somewhere. A mask mandate gone too far? The goons picking on the wrong Jew to beat up? David Chipman going for our guns? A wild card we have yet to see?

Place your bets.

14 At $417000 a year ,Fauci is NOT incompetent. The guy makes more than anyone in the Federal government.

Now there are some California University football coaches who make over $2 million. I bow in their general direction.

But really making money is the only reason to work for that shitheel government so Fauci is a stellar success.

31 Disappointing to read about Fr. Altman - the priest in WI that his bishop is trying to silence. Not surprised, disappointed.
With the Holy Mass being broadcast online, the faithful can now view Mass offered by priests whose homilies speak the truth. They aren't "stuck" with the priest assigned to their hometown.Would be interesting to see statistics on viewership. How did the "rad-trads" fare vs. the pastors who simply preach "don't be a jerk".

35 A German fella named Oswald Spengler after WW1 made the case that civilizations go through phases but all burn out. And he predicted in 1936 Germany had 10 years left and the West would follow by 2000.

911 was a harbinger of things to come. We let a 7th Century savage inside our gates to do us great harm and left the gates open after that.

Spengler doesn't have to be right but that bunch of people in Washington is no different than hiring arsonists to man a fire department.

No. I think this is, with all respect to VDH, the wrong question and its answer is not relevant. We know - or we think we do, but it comes from survey data so all bets are off - that institutional trust is at the bottom of the barrel. We also know that society is heavily polarized. The polarized sides are disjoined around (among other things) how to address the underlying trust issue.

No one now seriously argues that the Press are honest or that the government works for the people. Where the conflict arises is around what to do about it. We have the power faction all-in on support. They support the Press and the state regardless of the truth because it serves their interests. The disempowered group wants it all burned down. The vast middle doesn't know what to do but will follow the strong as it always does.

I don't think they hate children exactly. They certainly don't love children, but they don't especially want children to die (though they will accept that outcome in a minority of cases).

They want children to be psychologically destroyed but physically strong. This serves two purposes. First, it makes children reflect they themselves - tortured, miserable automatons. Second, it makes it easier to cultivate them as slaves.

124 A survey of 1,200 registered voters sponsored by the Competitive Enterprise Institute, conducted April 15-18, 2021, asked:
"How much of your own money would you be willing to personally spend each month to reduce the impact of climate change?"

++++
What a stupid question. My answer is "zero dollars," but that answer is predicated a lot of things. This kind of survey is not particularly valuable unless it tries to dig in to the *reasons* for the answers received. For example, I am unwilling to spend even one red cent because in my opinion the qualifying questions have not been answered. Has it been adequately demonstrated that man is the cause of it? No. Has it been adequately demonstrated that it is dangerous? No. Has it been adequately demonstrated that man can do anything about it? No.

The list goes on. Yet I suspect there are at least scores (if not thousands) of answers to they "why" - yet it does not appear that anyone asked "why?"

125 What we have is no longer a silent majority but a silenced majority.

--

That's pretty brilliant a statement, JJ. I only hope and pray that the word "majority" is really true. After 2020, I don't know what to think. So many clear thinking, reasonable, normal people lost their ever-loving minds over a virus that is 99.7+% survivable. That tells me the very sad truth that the media still holds major sway and influence, when most of those reasonable people should've known better.

So we are the silenced majority. The threat to politicians that there's some lurking, quiet monster out there able to throw them out of office doesn't apply anymore...because honest and fair elections don't exist. We're silenced at the ballot box. We're silenced on social media. We're silenced in education, pop culture, mass media. We're a lot less threatening to them than a silent majority.

145 Oregon to Require Proof of Vaccination to Go Mask-less in Stores, Churches
++++
What a bunch of fools. The preference cascade is past its inflection point. Masks are over. COVID is over. Oregon should have taken a page from the CDC playbook and pretended to lead on this topic.

Now, they are going to have to go to war with overall preference. That is expensive and brutal. They now have a no-win scenario. They either must become flatly oppressive and enforce this at the point of a gun in public places throughout the land, or they will have to backtrack and give up. Either way reduces their legitimacy among the "man on the street" crowd.

What pisses me off most about the legions of extremely powerful yet shitty wannabe tin-horn dictators is that they're all so fucking stupid. Being ruled by craven fools is far worse than being ruled by strong, intelligent monsters.

No it isn't. It could be done to 80% in five years, and gasoline reduced to a serious minority product in 10, with it becoming a collector-market niche product in 15.

All someone has to do is actually come up with something better. Wildly better and far cheaper. If that were to happen, few would buy a gasoline car if given the choice. A bulk of the aggregate fleet turns over every 5-7 years. Gasoline would be on its way out within a decade.

But that product doesn't exist, which is why coercion has to enter into the equation - and that coercion will have the effect of elongating the fleet turnover time.

PLEASE DEAR GOD THIS

The Trump agenda is much more important than Trump. It is the framework for electoral victory that can't lose with the voters (yes, I know, assumes voters have any say in the matter).

I was talking to my wife about this and there has been a sea change in the base of the republican party that can make it the majority party for generations, if the old guard can be gotten rid of.

2) Middle/Working Class - Value hard work and encourage success in blue collar America

Mileage tax. It's been floated for years because hybrids are very efficient and reduces the effective tax paid per mile. Fuel efficiency improvements have generalized the problem even among non-hybrids. EVs are even worse.

And their plans for a mileage tax are just wonderful, too. How would you do it? I suspect you might do it how I would: by reading the odometer at registration time and sending a bill after doing a bit of simple subtraction. Not them, though. They want GPS trackers in every call and a mobile data link that checks in with the state system to do mileage-based billing.

The real goal is, of course, expansion of the panopticon.

215 Drawing an analogy of our plight to the hula hoop craze is ridiculous. VDH can swing and miss badly. There is faddish hysteria (such as the above or Beatlemania) and there are pathological eruptions driven and sustained by deeper forces.

Did VDH compare the virus lockdowns to hula hoops?
No he did not. He compared the hysteria, the mindlessness of the behavior, towards the event. Those in power instigated the virus hysteria we lived through. It was the fear that was instilled that brought on the hysteria. The hand sanitizer frenzy, the mask wearing frenzy, the social distancing frenzy -- all hysterical reactions, whether it's over a hula hoop, tulips, or a virus, it's a frenzy or hysteria if you will. Hysteria: unmanageable fear or emotional excess.

I am having some landscaping done (tomorrow or early next week, depending on weather). The people who owned this house before me did some beautiful work up front, but fouled up the drainage. I'm having some window wells installed and some ground contouring done so the front yard drains onto the driveway instead of against the house.

This work was scheduled for January, but it's been so wet in my region that they haven't been able to get fill dirt until recently. They came by earlier this week to walk through the work with me since it had been so long since it was scheduled. The foreman who went over it with me said, "windows wells, some dirt, some shaping. No problem. I'm just glad this job doesn't have any lumber. On a contract this old, we'd be losing money on this job if we had to use any lumber."

I bought my house in December and it was a hard decision. Compared to 18 months earlier (when I was last looking), prices had gone up a lot. I felt like I was getting less value for money (and I was).

It's now been five months since I've owned this place. According to Redfin, the estimated price window is +4.4% from when I bought it - at the low end of the window (15.5% at the high). According to NAR (realtor.com), it is +1.5%.

In five months, and they don't know that I've done some improvements. It's unreal.

Yep. Most people haven't thought this through and if they did they would never be pushing for electric cars. In Texas if I need to drive to Dallas it's like 5 hours from where I live. My time is precious so if I want to make it home the same day I don't want to be wasting my time looking for a charging station on my route and then cutting into my time charging my vehicle.

280 So, if you're EVing down the road and you need a boost but the line is like 6 cars deep. You might be sitting there for a couple hours, sucking down the last juice in your battery trying to keep comfortable, playing music to keep the spouse or kids from driving you nuts. Instead of having lunch with grandma you'll be eating breakfast the following day with her.

I foresee lots of charging rage instead of road rage.

No, of course not, and I never asserted this. And there's no point in defining hysteria. We're not in disagreement.

VDH drew an analogy between various cultural fits of spontaneous and spastic emotional hysteria such as the "hula hoop craze" to the last year of profound cultural insensibility (rooted partly in a backbone problem with the people), and the dedicated, malign forces that fomented it (rooted in a corruption problem in our government) and which no doubt continue at this moment preparing for their second act. That is, I repeat, ridiculous. I got the feeling from VDH (as I sometimes do) that he doesn't get it.

That's not all that accurate a way to adjust it. New Deal spending (the Second New Deal) in 1935 was authorized at $4.8 billion for the new alphabet programs. GNP that year was about $74.2 billion. So the new round of New Deal spending was 6.5% output.

2020 estimated GDP is $22.11 trillion. 6.5% of that is $1.44 trillion - well less than what we already spent in 2020 under Trump. $6 trillion is about $1.6 trillion more than the pre-COVID federal budget of $4.4 trillion, so we can call that $1.6 trillion the "exceptional recovery funds" portion. That exceptional portion amounts to 7.23% of 2020's estimate product.

This nonsense is already far bigger than the New Deal in economic terms, and getting worse with every passing moment, and we're getting *nothing* for it. The New Deal was foolhardy, but at least we got rural electrification and agricultural improvements out of it, along with some nice roads.

There is a niche for these things - drivers who put an average of 50-60 miles per day on a car. I'd estimate this is less than 20% of the market. Then there are plant vehicles that spend their lives onsite and can have dedicated charging stations while not in use. But for pickup trucks I think its a much smaller market. The Ford EV p/u has a range of 230 miles but when towing it drops to 100 miles. Guys that drive p/u go places where there are no fucking charging stations all the time.

There are smoking guns in many of these huge crimes, but since our enemy is able to run a coup from within, (and bury hard evidence ... Hillary servers, Weiner/Hunter laptops, Wuhan connections, ad infinitum) ... it is not a surprise the hard evidence we do have is lied about, and things like routers are still kept hidden.

imo we have a ton of smoking gun evidence, but FBI will do a dawn raid on Trump's own lawyers, and at gunpoint acquire whatever they want. FBI, in the face of evidence of fraud, still leaves it up to private groups to investigate the election, they only investigate (persecute/imprison) the real whistleblowers.

I don't think there is an explanation yet, but there are a lot of guesses. One of those guesses that makes sense to me at first blush has to do with sawmills. Most-NAFTA, a huge amount of our wood comes from Canada. We in the US are opening up and things are starting to move. A lot of renovations, construction and other expansion that was delayed is now back in motion, and there's still an increase in home improvement with folks working from home.

Canada is a lot tighter than we are. The sawmills were out of production for a goodly while and aren't spun back up all the way yet. We're facing a supply crunch as a result.

Not sure if that's the answer, but it doesn't seem unreasonable on its face.

372 326 It's a good point from a logistical standpoint. Why have charging stations? Why not just have service stations where you get a quick-change battery swap and you're on your way, lickety-split? Each service station would have a massive inventory of fully charged batteries and a quick-change would be 10 minutes max. There would never be a Bhopal, India like incident because we would have safeguards.

More batteries will be needed nationwide in the summer, and demand at vacation spots will increase exponentially. Solution: Build enough batteries for summer need, storing them away in the winter,
and build and equip summer-load battery-swap stations in summer vacation areas as-needed to handle the summer demand. All perfectly feasible, technically. Financially? Yeah, on-paper after the Democrats nationalize the EV battery build and logistics industry.

The increased price creates extra incentive for producers to produce in order to take advantage of the price which will, in turn, increase the supply and depress the price in time.

This does make some sense at first blush from a time standpoint. That said, the battery pack is a non-trivial portion of the total value of the car. As an owner of one of those cars, I would be very skittish about swapping out my known-good and terribly expensive powertrain components and swapping in some unknown part. One way to make seriously consider that (if I had an EV) would be if I don't pay for the battery. The cost to buy the car is reduced by the value of the power bank, and I pay some subscription that covers the cost and the swap-out when needed. Basically, own the car and lease the fuel - but the car gets a lot cheaper upfront as a result.

Speaking of price gouging, a movie example:

Kino Lorber released a 4K UHD of The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly. A common collectible these days is a cardboard slipcover to slide over the actual case the discs are housed in. Kino ordered 5,000 of them, and pretty much instantly sold out (they were happy with this).

However, the slipcase instantly became a real collectible with panic buying from collectors who missed out on the original order. I saw one complete set sell for $300. It's insane and stupid. People are complaining about the gouging, but I keep asking them why those with the slipcases (a non-essential item for basic survival if I've ever seen one) should be selling at lower prices than the market will handle if there's someone out there willing to pay $300 for it? It's stupid, but just a lesson in not valuing stupid shit.

431 This does make some sense at first blush from a time standpoint.

Posted by: Joe Mannix (Not a cop!) at May 27, 2021 08:24 AM (Jsjd7)

Why buy the vehicle? Lease it as you do the battery.

I wonder if one goal of the EV crap is to endthe near-universal private auto ownership in the US. One step on the road (pun intended) to forcing mass-transit on us. "See Yellowstone the easy way - Electric bus service from the Cheyenne Airport to a campground somewhere in the Park!"

Entirely possible. Or to permit private ownership, but limit distance and overall mobility. Easier pill to swallow, that one.

Batteries will have to be made heavier, as the will need to be better armored since they are being replaced very frequently. They are going to get dropped on concrete.

The EV F-150 has 1800 lbs of batteries. Tesla Model S is 1200 lbs. So, likely well north of moving 2 tons of batteries around to do a swap (1 ton removing, 1 ton installing). Need to at least double the number of batteries for a fleet. More power generating capacity. Battery stations likely need handling equipment to move all that weight around all day. Do the batteries get charged at the station? Are are charged batteries trucked in? More batteries and more power generating capacity.

440 I can only wish that the COVID stupidity was over. No county pools will be open this summer because "Covid". Local city pools will be open for 50 minute per family reservation only "free swim" and formal lessons. No open rec swim. Oh, and you need to wear a mask until you get in the pool. There goes half our summer fun because of the Karens. But these people still have a paycheck. I am livid.

441 Hanson has been whiffing a lot lately; it wasn't a hysteria, it was deliberate, calculated marxist fuckery.
