Quarantine Cafe: Frolicsome Seals Edition

stormcloudphotography.jpg
Meteorologists call this the "Shit's About to Get Real" cloud type

More from Laura Heiden at StormCloudPhotography.com.

Here's a little more dramatic cloud photography.

Is this the much-discussed, seldom-glimpsed "Fist of an Angry God"?

Family rescues bunny and introduces him to their dog. The bunny just keeps hopping over him like he's a fallen log.

Lion kitten trying to roar, sounding adorbz.

Swarmed by gigantic parrots.

Tiny puppy is determined to get over big stairs. Not to be missed.

View of a dog park as seen from a camera on a corgi's back.

Dog makes decisions about when/how to jump in hundredths of a second:

On that first jump, he decides he doesn't need to take that last step up the berm, and decides to just skim over it. Neat.

Oh my goodness:

There's a novel titled "Facial Justice" that is based on that exact idea from 1960 by the English writer LP Hartley.

It's rated by Anthony Burgess as one of the "99 Greatest Novels of the 20th Century".

A bit slow but a powerful read. And, of course, was not intended as a how-to manual.

Schoolmate on pills (unbeknownst to me at time) snapped unprovoked and broke his beer glass in my face (cut his hand good too). 30 years later ran into him by chance, he was now cross eyed, lady at restaurant said yeah he stands outside and fights with things that aren't there. Reminds me of a joke:

A guy goes to see a psychiatrist. First thing the psychiatrist does is perform a Rorschach test. Shows the man the first ink blot, and asks "What does this look like to you?" The man replies "Two people having sex". She shows him the second ink blot, and asks the same question, to which he responds "Two people having sex". Third ink blot, same question, same response.

The psychiatrist says,"well, sir, you seem to be obsessed with sex". The man replies "Me?! You're the one with all the dirty pictures!"

Suddenly, the media is changing their tune on Covid. And fixtures like Juan and Don are being moved.

And Trump is tweeting, "What ever happened to Durham?"

81 Friend of mine just did an interview with Meb Keflesighi. For those that don't know, he is one of the greatest American runners the only man to have won an Olympic Medal, the NYC Marathon, and the Boston Marathon.

He emigrated here when he was 6, and is a devout Christian.

He told the story about winning the Boston Marathon in 2014. He was ready to retire from racing the year before, but he was at the finish just before the bombs went off in 2013.

He decided to run one last time in 2014. In the training for the race, he memorized the names of every victim and the morning of the race he prayed for every one of them by name.

He said that he doesn't remember the race at all up to mile 15, when he looked at his watch and saw he had run the previous mile at a 4:30 per mile pace. He was in the first place, and focused on the crowd chanting "USA" as he ran by. He tried to stay within himself, knowing that the race would be won or lost on Boylston Street. When he got there, he was greeted by 13,000 people screaming "USA USA" as he crossed the line, the first American to win Boston in 39 years.

I think he was touched by God's Grace for the first 15 miles.

82 In the sidebar - it says that Amazon bought the ailing MGM studios for over $8B - this is an insane price given the MGM Holding Co's total income in 2020 of only $33.2M. That's after an enormous loss of over 500M in 2019. This company is an asset based company now that has no current revenue availability.

In fact, the entire value of all the assets held by the studio, that would include all the old movie properties, is reported to be between just $2B and 2.5B in total - so Amazon, a subsidiary of the CCP really - paid 4 times the current asset value and over 250 times the income earned in the most current year of this dog. This is fine for the CCP owned Bezos mess, but it just shows the CCP has a ton of money to burn and does so to get ahold of American properties - no stupid price is going to stop them- the MGM shareholders must be kissing each other's nuts in celebration.

But yeah, we'll overturn a federal election.

+++Several years ago I watched a NatGeo program where it showed orcas teaming up and creating huge waves to dislodge a seal who was trying to avoid being eaten and was atop an iceberg. Kind of heart-wrenching to watch the poor seal struggling for survival. Then on another program, it was about Emperor penguins in the Antarctic, where it is so deadly cold that the male and female have to pass the egg back and forth with their webbed feet so the egg cannot touch the frozen ground for even a second. Then you see the penguins, who have to go into the sea for fish food, are now prey for seals, who take on an evil and sinister look, so now you feel bad for the penguins. It's a harsh world.

So gigantic is Bezos brain that he's must be pretty sure he can turn just $33.2M in revenue on $2B in assets into, well - to get his valuation of $8B you'd need, by rule of thumb, five times net income, so that would be $1.6B NI annually - off of just $2B in marketable assets - he's either an idiot or could not care less about how much he spent - and that sounds a lot less like Bezos and a whole lot like the CCP.

And, like every f*ing memorial day weekend (except 2019 - 2020 we were locked in) they have the typical excuses about why the prices are going up. Summer blend, pipeline back east that has nothing to do with us, global warming... same old bullshit. Right after this canned garbage, the news anchor starts bitching about $5/gal and he could fill his car up for $35 just 6 months ago. Welcome to California, and welcome to Biden's hell on earth. But you think that's going to change his vote? Not even when he retires to FL. Oh, and 91 is officially over $5/gal in San Jose.

Maybe I've just still got some faith, but I don't see them putting up cardboard when there's no windows. And it's hard to count with nobody around when the police are showing up every 5 minutes to arrest whoever else is in there live streaming it. One thing that absolutely handicapped us with people I believe might have done something this time around was the Q psyop. I can't believe how many people were all "trust the plan" on this. Hell, I even thought Trump had something since he was talking about exactly what just happened last summer. People believed there was some sort of brilliant plan of biblical proportions about to play out. They still do! In November, December, January. They'd been played. I think by the time we've suffered through more than only 6 months of Biden, things will be different.

THIS is the $64 question. I do virtual tours in Silicon Valley, and have a LOT of realtor friends (was married to one). I do homes from $5M to $500k (ghettos). Right now, I'd say close to half of the homes I'm doing are people leaving the state. Either retiring, or taking jobs elsewhere. The lower end homes are people that can't afford to live here - and either leaving the state or moving to the central valley or up north. So, who's moving in? I got no idea. I know goolag/twatter/fb et al are importing workers at record rates. But, they tend to go to the lower end. People with money are gone. Are banks buying? Cities/politicians? (they're definitely buying up failed downtown businesses) Something's going on, it's weird. There's a bubble, and some musical chairs happening. Something's gotta give.

Dems say "It worked, didn't it? Now submit!"

Repukes say "That is a shame, gives us more money and vote harder so this doesn't happen again!" While making sure all Bidets' picks pass and most of his spending and other bills cause they agree with the Dems on things like guns R bad, but to say it gives up the game.

And both parties stress that Jan 6th was insurrection, that Trump needs to be silenced and kept out of the public discourse (though the Repukes will continue to use his name to fundraise, like a snake oil salesman claiming to be a preacher) and the people being illegally detained due to Jan 6 will continue to be illegally detained while actual murderers and rapists are released from prison, because racism put them there.

And China will continue to pull all the strings.

I also love that everything Saban keeps telling people "You don't want the game to change this way" keeps coming true. Most recent is the transfer portal. He warned them, but no, no one wanted to listen. The transfer portal was going to be how other teams finally took down Saban.

And now Saban is filling what gaps exist in the lines with five stars from other programs via the transfer portal.

But doesn't matter - the point is there is *already* an enormous anchor around the neck of the economy, and a growing one around the necks of individual freedoms, from all the contortions to play this disastrous, rent-seeking, control-obsessed, game.

Whole country suffers from idiocy pushed by CA, something Trump admin. was just beginning to address. Whole country suffers from opportunity cost, and actual needless inflationary cost, of adaptations meant to address this non-existent "problem".

And remember, we pulled out of the Paris Accords (temporarily, turns out) not because they address a non-existent problem, but because it wasn't a "good enough deal" for America. That's how you do "speed bump" instead of direction change.

396 I've seen some people on this very site say that when LE comes to confiscate guns, people will simply hand them over. There will be a not insignificant chunk of the population who will. Even more, however, will realize that if you give up your guns, you're dead already.

398 I honestly and truly believe Notre Dame should be required to play either the winner of that championship or the top Group of Five team in an annual bowl game (Irish Bowl or something similar) until they join a conference and can legitimately earn their way to the playoffs again and show they have some business being there.

They're already in the ACC for basketball. They should stop the cocktease independent shit for football, which is also how Paterno burnished his record pre B1G.

I think that's true. It won't take more than a few White Supremacist Nationalist houses being blown to sh*t with some vehicle mounted military weaponry that end in mm to convince people that they don't want that to be them.

Notre Dame joined the ACC division for the covid football season--they agreed to split their TV revenue with the other teams in that division, which was very savvy of them.

Posted by: artemis at May 26, 2021 08:47 PM (AwPyG)

408 Honest question. How many actual ATF agents are there? I know the 99% ham&eggers of the F agency would hunt us down by the dozen, given the chance.

My experience around U.S. Marshalls, puts them at neutral, if not actually on our side. But they're few. Very few.

So, all other .gov agencies are against us. EPA, Agriculture, Education, they all have their armed minions, and they won't be our friends. But in the end, how many are there? Next question is, where are they? I don't mean a 10-20 radio call, but where are the personnel assignments? Doubt there's a DEA office in Telluride, CO, for example. Mapping this intel would be of great benefit to those on the freedom side of the divide.

Back when smart spending decisions tended to be rewarded by the market ESPN paid large to snare almost every dogshit also ran insert a sponsor name no matter how goofy bowl game. Disney took a bath on that when they realized even the alumni don't care about watching a .500 team compared to other options.
