I have, actually! Two thoughts:

1. I used to watch Lawrence Welk on Sunday nights with Grandfather and Grandmother Poppins. I happen to like "champagne music," unironically.

2. It reminds me of Robin Williams' takeoff of Welk: Thank-a-you, thank-a-you. Dat was de lovely Lennon Sisters singing, 'I Can't Get No Satisfaction.' And now, let's hear it for de boys in de band, each one of dem a bitchin' mother in his own a-right."

I mean, official like, not the unofficial preconcert version of this.

Another possibility. I did several long-haul interstate (and, since I don't have a well, intestate) trips and at the beginning of the mess, the roads were nearly devoid of automobile traffic. Trucks and me and the occasional other car. I find long cruising in excess of 80 or so MPH to be fatiguing, so I usually stick to that or below - but you could drive any speed you wanted then. No one and nothing to stop you. If you get used to that and try to do it in more traffic, or when people aren't expecting you to do that, things can indeed get dangerous.

Very inspiring, very stunning, very brave. Once they get that, these assholes will drop the filibuster like one of Hunter Biden's baby mommas. Cornyn is also the ignorant bastard wanting to impose a .25/mile Federal Tax on trucks. Who the f**k is going to ultimately pay for that? I'm sure some group of fascist oligarchs are going to take pay cuts to ensure it doesn't impact the population or exacerbate our so stunning, so brave inflation. While we get tossed the dying carcass of Anthony Fauci to while away the hours until our untimely demise at the hands of the rat bastards, they do everything imaginable to tear dow, degrade, destroy, undermine, lie, cheat and steal. I want him to come out of this year and next knowing he is hated.

It helps that they are stupid. They dumbed $150 million into a Jeb Bush run, convinced that the base was still so enthralled with the Bush name that he would just ad buy his way to victory.

Now, they think that anyone close to Trump, meaning Pence, will be enough to win over the base. Never mind Pence acting like a dolt for months after Trump's administration, or the fact that he was largely a non-entity during the administration proper (when he wasn't gaining a reputation for being a backstabbing POS among the activist class of the GOP), no, Pence was Trump's VP, and that's enough.

VP's have a shockingly bad record of becoming POTUS, too.

That's astonishing, actually and if it's true then it makes me question a lot of my prior assumptions. I had figured that the underlying reason for the mail-in push (besides the casual fraud and harvesting it enables) was so that - if push came to shove - they'd have enough ballots handy to swing things however they need. If they printed off ballots on the cheap and quick, then that action throws my assumption into question.

263 That's astonishing, actually and if it's true then it makes me question a lot of my prior assumptions. I had figured that the underlying reason for the mail-in push (besides the casual fraud and harvesting it enables) was so that - if push came to shove - they'd have enough ballots handy to swing things however they need. If they printed off ballots on the cheap and quick, then that action throws my assumption into question.
Posted by: Joe Mannix (Not a cop!) at June 04, 2021 09:18 AM (Jsjd7)

That was their assumption as well. Trump outperformed what they dreamed, and they needed to scramble in response.

264 - Nonfarm payrolls increased 559,000 in May, below the 671,000 estimate.- The unemployment rate fell to 5.8%, slightly better than expected and below April's 6.1%.- Hospitality again led job creation, with 292,000 new positions.
The employment- to-population ratio, which some Fed officials have cited as an important gauge of labor progress, inched higher to 58% but remained well short of its pre-pandemic level of 61.1%. The labor force participation rate, another closely watched metric, edged lower to 61.6% as the size of the group fell by 53,000 with more than 100 million American workers remaining on the sidelines.

Some moron was talking about how they'd planned it out to the point where the voting machines would read votes as cast for the candidate if there was a fold at that place on the ballot.

Guess which party the folds accidentally corresponded to?

266 I saw a show on Amazon called debunking Borat or something like that. Remember the two rubes that Borat stayed with in the second movie? Well they debunked their so called lies about all sorts of things. One of them was mail in ballot fraud.

How was it debunked? Easy. election officials said there was no fraud, therefore there was no fraud. That was literally their debunking.

Posted by: Joe XiDen at June 04, 2021 09:21 AM (079Gw)

267 That side bar comment by Shibumi isn't exactly accurate. They were counting on the mail in fraud to turn the election, but it didn't work. All the early voting and mail in wasn't nearly enough; Trump was winning by a huge margin. So they had to literally shut down voting in several states to print off a crapload of new ballots to jam through the system.

And a lot of these were just print offs, not even on the right paper, based on the Arizona audit.
Posted by: Christopher R Taylor, world's most respected Fantasy Hero writer at June 04, 2021 09:11 AM (KZzsI)

This is the point I keep making.

COVID was supposed to take out Trump. The voters didn't turn on him. The mail in cheating was supposed to be enough to overcome the voter enthusiasm. It didn't work. They had to shut down voting and just do good old fashion ballot box stuffing.

Yes. And state level GOP that will actually fight to get elections up to a better standard.

Obviously, Democrats ended up winning the fight, but this is very far from over, and they've placed themselves in a place of power that's completely untenable. If the people are against them at the levels that we suspect, the people won't take it. I don't know how it manifests, hopefully fixes through voting, but if the people end up feeling like voting isn't working for them something will happen.

397 An extremely rare wildflower that grows only in Nevada's high desert where an Australian mining company wants to dig for lithium should be protected under the Endangered Species Act, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service said Thursday. The agency outlined its intention to propose listing Tiehm's buckwheat as a threatened or endangered species as part of its belated, 12-month review of a listing petition conservationists filed in 2019. A federal judge said last month the finding was six months overdue and ordered the agency to render a decision within weeks. The conclusion announced on Thursday that federal protection is warranted could jeopardize Ioneer Ltd.'s plans to build the mine halfway between Reno and Las Vegas. It also ups the ante in an early test of the Biden administration's ability to make good on promises to protect public lands and their native species while at the same time pursuing an ambitious clean energy agenda that includes bolstering production of lithium needed for electric car batteries.

480 PDT should have known the fix was in when biden didn't even bother trying to campaign.
PDT was working his ass off all over the country and biden was hiding in his basement.

That should have been more telling than it was.

Yeah there were a few people who really clung to that, I was one for a while but by mid 2020 I'd had enough. It was too late to take action by then and obvious they never were going to.

I'll go on record as one of those people who held onto the #twoweeks scenario a little too long - I even thought that we'd see a huge document dump from DJT in Dec 2020. I had faith that somehow, somewhere, there was one other person in power other than DJT that wanted to clean up the mess in the Deep State that clearly exists. I had faith in Barr, and at the very least I thought that he would use his public vow to fix what was clearly wrong with the DOJ to actually do something about it. I was clearly mistaken in that belief.

I'm now in the 'burn it all down' camp. Hell hath no fury, and all that.

I think the horror we all felt at seeing them get away with literally stealing the presidency is felt even worse people on the inside who know how its supposed to work and the consequences of that failure. Someone who worked at the DOJ or had inside info is going to be even more aghast at the implications of all this.

514 The thing that still gets me about what happened last year is that while we got 'leaks' from Deep State factotums all the time, we never, ever got one from the government workers who were supposedly on our side. None of the 'ham-and-eggers' who are allegedly part of the FBI/CIA/etc etc etc, no former members who could give us insight on how the system was supposed to work, and tell us more about the players they would have worked with who were running this scam - nobody.
