I did, a lot of days. When I was in CO, I worked eastern time. When it worked out that I didn't have to work late (about 30% of the time), I knocked off at 4:00 PM. That was nice, having the afternoon wide open.

So many of the bales were illustrations of the differing colors of the light during seasons and times of day. I was at Giverny in the middle of the day in August years ago. It was neat being there and all but the light was flat and boring.

This one's definitely darker than the typical Monet. Monet's colors are brighter, more pure. This artist uses more mixed colors, like aqua, pink or that green-yellow in the right background.

On Windows machines, the "CTRL+ALT+{down arrow}" combination will flip the monitor image upside down. "CTRL+ALT"{up arrow}" combination will restore the image. There is no need to flip your monitor over. Software can do it for you in a trice.

Yesterday evening, we has some shelf clouds and virga, with a yellow horizon, and then the tops of a long, powerful squall line over 100 miles away. Like ramparts in the sky.

I lived in the south for a while and gawd that humidity was nasty. Yeah you made up for it by not having harsh winters but fuck.
I live in a coolish dry climate now and I will happily put up with some snow and bitter cold days for 2-3 months but have no humidity to deal with in summer.

I think the rights are with Warner Brothers, so they may end up releasing it themselves at some point. Their Warner Archives Collection has been fairly robust, but mostly focused on 50s musicals. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

I actually like most of Black Moon. Once you get used to Lake's deeper voice, and I do skip a couple tunes (the one the producer wrote is one!) but I find it fairly entertaining. No epics and not much serious prog, but times had changed and it works as an arena-rock album.

Kinda like Randy Newman. Saw him before he became famous. Just a guy and his piano. He played and "sang" well, of course. But, he was really charming with his remarks between songs, sometimes even laughing during his songs when they got particularly silly or crazy. Great show.

I hate cold weather. It's just so miserable. Doesn't matter how many coats and gloves and scarves I put on - I'll still be cold. Summer is great because I can go outside for a few minutes and get some feeling back in my hands so I can type. (Sometimes my hands and feet get so cold in the office that the air condenses on them when I go outside.) Winter is just constant misery with hot showers being the only relief. I wish I lived in the tropics instead of the subtropics.

And get a tax break from state and federal govts. I think the biggest issue is that EV's aren't significantly better the ICE vehicles. When some new invention comes out that is a game changer, it's usually significantly better and the change over to the new tech is rapid.

We had a Fusion hybrid. Nice car and great gas mileage. Problem was when that car got close to 75,000 miles nobody wanted to buy it or take it in trade because the battery was only warranted for 100,000 miles. We finally got somebody to take it in trade but what they gave us left us way under water on the loan for it. Sucked it up and vowed to never buy another car with a battery in it again.

FWIW, I don't think they ever broke 5% of annual sales. I think 3% was a pretty big deal. I don't have any problem with them, but it turns out nobody really wants them, either. They're like station wagons and manual transmissions (and electric vehicles). People might talk about how cool they are, but that's as far as it goes.

In the 70s I saw Joan Armatrading open for someone I really was there to see. It was just her and a piano and she was very good singing original compositions. Even though her music wasn't in my roundhouse it was very well done and held my interest.
Years later I went to see Richard Thompson open for her in an outdoor park. Every carpetmuncher in the county was in attendance and by the time the first overly amplified synthed up bullshit assaulted my tympanic membrane I'm surprised I didn't create a sonic boom exiting rapidly.

There are quite a few what they call "light hybrids". The battery isn't very big and the electric motors aren't that powerful, but you get the benefit of regenerative breaking and a boost in mileage.

Pretty sure the rest of the world gets diesel models in most brands, it's just the US where it never caught on except for the Germans. With VW's cheating scandal, I think diesel cars are dead in the US. I think at one time Chevy sold a diesel in the Cruze, but I never saw one for sale.

Volvos and VWs are nice, but the Mazda 6 wagon sold here between 2002-2008 or so is a hidden gem. It's got a fairly bulletproof Ford 3.0 engine and a pretty tasteful design. Cheap as dirt because not a Volvo/VW wagon, too.

That's the "Yat" dialect, which I grew up hearing and learned to speak as protective coloration as a kid. Its name comes from the old NO expression "Where y'at?", which is not asking where you are physically located, but how you're doing. There's a *lot* of room for batteries in an F-150, so they can go nuts on the watt-hour ratings. Something like a pickup or Expedition is probably the sweet spot for current BEV tech for that reason.

Just pretend your a fighter pilot and your running through your preflight checklist. You could even use your iPhone wireless headset as a pilot's radio set and do the checklist out loud. Wife could be the copilot and say check! Have some fun with it! Role play!!

On my SUV a cylinder fires to restart the motor. Guess there's enough residual fuel left in the cylinder.

That actually makes a lot of sense. You could theoretically not have a starter motor entirely as long as the computer knows where the cylinders are (and it definitely does).

They are in use, but every tank that holds it is leaking it at the same time. That rules out putting it in a garage. Any tank holding hydrogen is leaking hydrogen.

ISTR the H₂ is stored in a matrix until use. Lots of Mixed metal oxide research in H₂ storage in cars.
Big Transit companies have a few of those h₂ busses. Seems to be a large maintenance problem.

That's not hard to believe at all. Homes use much less energy than cars do. Which is why, as mentioned up-thread, the woman with the Tesla was complaining that her car would only partially recharge when plugged in all night. Home electric service does not have the capacity to fast-charge an EV.
