The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

Sometimes being a friend means mastering the art of timing. There is a time for silence. A time to let go and allow people to hurl themselves into their own destiny. And a time to prepare to pick up the pieces when it's all over. Octavia E. Butler

*

Quote II

"On the one hand, snitching sounds bad, but it's really just us watching out and making sure that everyone's following the rules that we're keeping each other safe," he said. Neil McArthur, an ethicist and professor of philosophy at the University of Manitoba

*

Quote III

"We are excited to welcome disability rights advocate, author and educator Helen Keller to our expanding Inspiring Women collection as Barbie continues to highlight strong female role models. Representation comes in all forms and we recognize that the blind and low vision community is often overlooked, with their stories going untold. We hope that by introducing children to Helen Keller's story of perseverance and determination, they will be inspired to dream bigger than ever before." Lisa McKnight, Mattel's senior vice president and global head of Barbie and dolls

But didn't Helen Keller have white privilege?

*

Quote IV

“And I feel like I learned this the hard way after my father had passed away when I was a teenager … That happened at a young age and I locked it away. You have to live with it for years,” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY)

Chocolate covered cherries? Yes. Chocolate covered peanuts? Yup. Chocolate covered raisins? Sure. Chocolate covered cicadas? No. Hell no.

The owner of Chouquette Chocolates says there is a lot of interest from customers who are brave enough to take a bite.

She promises the chocolate used to dip the cicadas in is not used for dipping anything else.

If real cicadas are not your thing, the shop also sells bug-free cicada-themed chocolates, including a cicada-shaped chocolate mold filled with marshmallow cream, corn flakes and candy.

Fire in the Hole: Man Gets Flammable Deodorant Stuck in His Rectum

Doctors in India are warning about a peculiar hazard. In a new case study this week, they detail having to remove a can of aerosol spray deodorant from a patient’s rectum. It’s a injury made even more potentially dangerous due to the risk of fire or explosion should the offending object be removed “using cautery or any energy device,” they write.

Household objects getting stuck inside people’s butts is nothing new. Sometimes, this behavior can be the result of mental illness or curiosity among people (often kids) who just didn’t know better. A lot of the time, though, it happens for exactly the reason you would think—sex stuff.

But according to the authors of this new paper, published Monday in BMJ Case Reports, they are the first doctors to report finding a “deodorant aerosol spray can” inside a patient’s rectum. The discovery was apparently enough to compel them to issue a warning to others about the possible risks that could come with this particular kind of rectal object.

Technology and betterment will always go on with man. However, I just want to be left alone.

Bethesda, MD (May 22, 2021) -- An artificial intelligence tool under development at Duke University can be added to the standard toilet to help analyze patients' stool and give gastroenterologists the information they need to provide appropriate treatment, according to research that was selected for presentation at Digestive Disease Week® (DDW) 2021. The new technology could assist in managing chronic gastrointestinal issues such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

"Typically, gastroenterologists have to rely on patient self-reported information about their stool to help determine the cause of their gastrointestinal health issues, which can be very unreliable," said Deborah Fisher, MD, one of the lead authors on the study and associate professor of medicine at Duke University Durham, North Carolina. "Patients often can't remember what their stool looks like or how often they have a bowel movement, which is part of the standard monitoring process. The Smart Toilet technology will allow us to gather the long-term information needed to make a more accurate and timely diagnosis of chronic gastrointestinal problems."

What's the difference between a Pusher and Washington-based progressive group called the Economic Security Project? Nothing. Both peddle addictive substances.

In the mean time, if Biden, Congressional Democrats, and Congressional Republicans cannot agree on a relief measure, Americans will suffer from its absence. For this reason, a Washington-based progressive group called the Economic Security Project has proposed a novel measure to avoid this deadlock: “automatic stabilizer” payments.

Put simply, an automatic stabilizer is a fourth stimulus check that does not need further Congressional approval to pass. Instead of being tied to Congress’s immediate approval, they would be scheduled to kick in automatically following negative economic indicators, such as a spike in unemployment rates or a decrease in household income.

This idea seems far-fetched and unusual, but it is already gaining some traction on Capitol Hill. Last week, fifty staffers from the Senate Finance Committee attended a presentation by the Economic Security Project. And eighty Democratic members of Congress are already in favor of further stimulus payments, although these payments would undoubtedly meet stiff resistance from Republicans (and, it has been argued, might not be necessary for the economy).

It's all fun and games until somebody puts it up on social media.

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. — A TikTok video announcing a birthday party was viewed more than 3 million times, which led to a mass of humanity descending upon the scene in Huntington Beach on Saturday. The police were forced to declare an unlawful assembly and arrested 149 partygoers for a variety of crimes.

Ahhh good old Milwaukee. The other "Mistake on the lake".

Judge orders former police chief reinstated – who was demoted after refusing to punish cops for enforcing laws

MILWAUKEE, WI- The former chief of the Milwaukee Police Department may be getting his job back in 45 days unless a settlement is reached between his attorneys and the city, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Such was the order of Milwaukee County Judge Christopher Foley last Wednesday.

Foley’s ruling came after former chief Alfonso Morales’ legal team asked the judge to force the city to put Morales back in his former position.

Ahhhh, the law of unintended consequences comes and bites the greenies in the ass. At least for the time being.

Last week, Washington Gov. Jay Inslee—the guy who, while running for president two years ago, proposed a nationwide ban on sales of gas-powered cars by 2030—vetoed a statewide ban on gas-powered car sales by 2030.

The reason for the puzzling move, Inslee said in a statement, was a provision tucked into the legislation. The language said the 2030 target would take effect only if lawmakers created a program to charge drivers based on how far they drive each year.

You want to drive an EV, fine. You don't want to pay per mile, fine. How about we charge you say $1,500 per year to register your vehicle.

Don't ever accuse The ONT of not remembering historic events. A Brief History of the Cheez-It - America’s iconic orange cracker turns 100 this year

Dayton’s historic Edgemont neighborhood is cocooned inside a crook in the Great Miami River, a winding waterway that snakes through the heart of southwest Ohio. Two miles from downtown, with its air of industry, the community hearkens to a time when Dayton was hailed “The City of A Thousand Factories.”

In the early 20th century, inside a foregone factory on the corner of Concord and Cincinnati Streets, Green & Green cracker company cooked up its Edgemont product line, a collection of grahams, crackers and gingersnaps that were shipped across the region. But of the company’s four Edgemont products, only one, in particular, a flaky one-by-one-inch cheese cracker, would revolutionize snack time. On May 23, 1921, when Green & Green decided to trademark the tasty treat’s unique name, the Cheez-It was born.

Speaking of cheese. A photo of cheese leads to arrest and conviction of a drug dealer.

A man has been jailed for 13 years after his fingerprints were analysed from a photo of a block of cheese.

Carl Stewart shared the M&S Stilton picture - but made the mistake of showing his fingers and palm.
He may have thought he was safe because he was using an EncroChat phone, a highly encrypted device used by criminals.

However, police cracked the system last year - leading to the arrest of hundreds of people in the UK suspected of murder, gun smuggling and serious drug trafficking.

Sixty-thousand users - about 10,000 of them in the UK - have been identified globally as part of Operation Venetic.

Stewart, 39, of Gem Street, Liverpool, received a sentence of 13-and-a-half years at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday.

Posthumous Genius Award Winner dies insolvent.

ASHTABULA, Ohio (WJW) — The Ashtabula Sheriff’s Office and ATF agents are investigating after a 55-year-old Clay Street resident died when an improvised explosive device he was making exploded in his garage.

Sheriff officials say a neighbor told them the man was making the explosive in his garage and had planned to sell it to pay off a lawnmower he recently purchased.

Deputies responded to the 1300 block of Clay Street Saturday after being notified that Jefferson Fire Department was dispatched to the address.

Gender studies. Why not video game studies for credit?

At least six Cal State campuses and nearly all of the University of California campuses have created esports programs since 2015, in which students host and compete in live tournaments, sometimes funded by corporate sponsors.

Growing up as the youngest child of four, Fernando Gomez would often pass the time by watching his two older brothers play the video games Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy while sitting cross-legged on his brother’s bed.

Gaming “kind of brought us together,” Gomez said. It also inspired him to create San Francisco State University’s first student-run esports program as an undergrad — experience he parlayed into a post-grad job as the digital content coordinator for the Portland Trailblazers. “That experience is 100% why I’m here today, doing what I do now,” Gomez said.

I'm guessing a 2 year Vo-Tech school isn't fancy enough.

Moar insanity from the University of California Berkeley

A executive search firm revealed that the University of California, Berkeley has a budget of $25 million per year for their Division of Equity and Inclusion.

According to Storbeck Search—a firm hired by UC-Berkeley—the university allocates a budget portfolio of $25 million per year for the Division of Equity and Inclusion. 58% of the budget comes from campus and state funds, 31% from federal and state public service grants, and 11% from philanthropy and public grants.

“As Berkeley strives towards the ideals of an inclusive, uplifting, anti-racist, and justice-centered campus during this unprecedented time in higher education and in the world, the University seeks a collaborative, solutions-oriented leader and accomplished visionary to serve as the next Vice Chancellor for Equity and Inclusion,” read the program layout.

The university announced on Feb. 18 that Storbeck Search would be assisting with the search for a new Vice Chancellor, Equity & Inclusion.

Regarding that position, let me guess. Heterosexual Caucasian males need not apply even if you majored in gaming and minored in gender studies.

How discriminatory. Lesbians Aren’t Attracted to a Female ‘Gender Identity.’ We’re Attracted to Women

There is commonly held to be a difference between a sexual preference and a sexual orientation. Sexual preferences include preferences for blondes over brunettes, or macho men over pretty boys. At the more exotic end, they can include predilections for cars, chandeliers, and dalliances with farm animals. None of these are sexual orientations, though. Opinions differ on what makes an orientation an orientation, but my preferred explanation says that for a preference to count as an orientation, it has to be stable in individuals, widespread among the human population, and have a range of relatively important social consequences.

Two such orientations are heterosexuality and homosexuality. They are defined in terms of specific patterns of attraction. You are heterosexual if you, a member of one sex, are stably sexually attracted only to members of the opposite sex to you. Alternatively, if you’re stably attracted only to members of the same sex as you, then you’re homosexual. If you’re stably attracted to both sexes, you’re bisexual. In addition to these terms, equally applicable to both males and females, the English language has words to describe homosexual orientations disaggregated by sex. “Lesbians” are same-sex-attracted females. There are other sex-disaggregated words, too, often pretty negative: “faggots,” “dykes,” etc.

Putting things this way will, I predict, raise the hackles of readers schooled in queer theory, and in particular fans of French post-structuralist Michel Foucault. It is a commonplace there that orientations are—just as biological sex categories are for Judith Butler—socially constructed, historically contingent, and culturally located. As trans scholar Jack (then non-trans Judith) Halberstam summarises approvingly: “Within a Foucauldian history of sexuality, ‘lesbian’ constitutes a term for same-sex desire produced in the mid-to-late twentieth century within the highly politicized context of the rise of feminism … if this is so, then ‘lesbian’ cannot be the transhistorical label for all same-sex activity between women.” My short answer is that, while obviously we need to acknowledge the interesting fact that throughout the ages, same-sex activity has had many different relatively local sociocultural meanings and names, it wasn’t invented in the 20th century. I’m talking about distinctive, relatively ahistorical patterns of sexual relationship in individuals, and not particular cultural representations of that pattern. That’s a coherent distinction to make.

So Lesbians aren't attracted to this? Go figure........

1968 saw "The Population Bomb" published. A book written by Paul R. Ehrlich and his wife, Anne Ehrlich. Of course the dire predictions didn't come true. Nor did the Ehrlich's predict, POPULATION DECLINE IS TURNING EARTH INTO A GHOST TOWN, EXPERTS SAY - "GHOST CITIES" ARE LEARNING TO ADAPT TO SHOCKINGLY-LOW NUMBERS OF BIRTHS.

Countries around the world are beginning to reckon with a years-long drop in new births that has skewed population demographics heavily toward older age groups.

Thanks to that near-global drop in fertility rates, experts suggest that the planet’s population could enter a period of continued decline for the first time in known human history by the second half of the 21st century, The New York Times reports.

In a more local perspective, some cities are already reckoning with the challenges of precipitous drops in new births, the NYT reports, including “ghost cities” in China and maternity wards with too few births to justify staying open in Italy. Some South Korean universities have so few students that the government is pressuring them to merge with others, and entire towns where deaths outnumber births are being consolidated in Japan.

“A paradigm shift is necessary,” former United Nations chief of population trends and analysis Frank Swiaczny told the NYT. “Countries need to learn to live with and adapt to decline.”

16 willowed sorry:

I just heard that Aerion, a new aerospace startup that was flush with investment and was pulling engineering from other companies just folded Friday. The big facility in Melbourne FL is canceled now and their NV site is emptying out.

They were big news for a while. A SS business jet utilizing a segmented noseboom to reduce boom levels. They were heavily leveraged by big Boeing and when they went TU I knew Aerion wouldn't be far behind. Lots of engineering and management were being siphoned from other companies and now poof their jobs are gone.

65 "You want to drive an EV, fine. You don't want to pay per mile, fine. How about we charge you say $1,500 per year to register your vehicle."

Simply require that EV's only accept charging from a 3-phase source at 330 volts, a non-standard service voltage. This would require a 3-phase line, and a step-down transformer, and this device would have its own meter, to record the price of the energy, and the road tax applied by the State. Penalties for evading this would be the same as for using purple gas in your auto.

He better be saving up. Or at least learning to be entertaining as he plays. If you listen to ATC and BCochran's podcast you'll have heard a few times that pro-video game players age out at around 25. That's about the time your response time begins to slow down and you're no longer able to play at a competitive level. So you're either done or you better be entertaining enough to make it as a twitch streamer.

Garand en bloc clips are interesting. There is definitely a "way" to load them by hand - think I learned it on a UToob video. 5 rounds, all in hand, load them and keep some pressure on them - then just snap the last 3 into place. There are M1 clip-loading presses out there, I think. Nice, simple things, look sorta like juicers, with the big handle. All leftovers/surplus from the M1's duty days.

I wish I shot my M1s enough to make that contraption worth it, but sadly no .... well, not yet.

ASHTABULA, Ohio (WJW) --The Ashtabula Sheriff's Office and ATF agents are investigating after a 55-year-old Clay Street resident died when an improvised explosive device he was making exploded in his garage.

Sheriff officials say a neighbor told them the man was making the explosive in his garage and had planned to sell it to pay off a lawnmower he recently purchased.

Leftists are wrong on the mechanisms that underpin human success.

I think some of it is based on envy, not greed. They can tear down, but not build. Greed based capitalism, leavened by Christian beliefs, leads to success.

Mediocrities tearing down the genius of the past and leads to death of a society.

We have 150 years of data on this specific mechanism. And 6,000 years of improvement by the survivors is at risk.

Hell, the Trump 4 years vs the Biden 100 days is a tell to the discerning and rational person.

Dylan seems to pop up a lot in the thread. Seems on off nights he's real bad, but I've never seen him.

Dave Fking Mason. Yeah, I didn't get it either. Nobody did. Not even Fleetwood Mac.

Then a fight broke out between two chicks. I was gonna leave with my buddy but the side show was entertaining.

418 The best guess I've heard is that they're going heavy on AI, drones, and robots to make up for the lost human labor.

Until the sun goes down or the wind stops.

I didn't know that AI is at the creative stage where it can discover new solutions and build better mousetraps.

But the real problem for them is this: They are sadists. They are perverts. They enjoy hurting people because the ruthless and unrestrained demonstration of raw Power is an aphrodisiac. It is their Viagra and reason for living. They need people to hurt, children to rape, peons to suppress and enslave for their sick jollies and quest to be powerful.

Notice how nearly every billionaire or Malthusian is at least a pedophile, with aspirations for surpassing Caligula.

504 weft-cut - seems like a clear-cut case of white supremacy, and systemic racism, to me (the Mpls traffic atrocity).

A few commentators keep a sort of informal score of the carnage (homicides, rapes, assaults) wrought by illegal aliens released by "sanctuary" jurisdictions, and of the damage by people who clearly should not be out in public, as in the Mpls case (oh - and a few also note the carnage caused by those released under "prison sentence reform", Trump's worst move).

But AFAIK nobody's bothered to do it in a rigorous, comprehensive, detailed way. Would be nice. Not that information or reality or common sense any longer factor into the "thinking" of many Americans, but still. For the future archaeologists.

522 Haven't checked/don't remember, but I think the "white" part of Byeliy Rus ("white Russia") comes from some evolving/multiple meaning of a word.

Like "Red Square" actually probably really means "Beautiful Square" ("KRAZ-na-ya" means "red" in contemporary Russian, but an archaic meaning was "beautiful" - which makes sense given the history). It was named long before Karl Marx was born. Not "red" as in "Red Banner Northern Fleet" or something that.

There were plans/studies/ideas on the German side "assuming" 30M people would disappear from territories conquered by the Wehrmacht. Japan was crudely racist and supremacist, and barbaric in much of their military behavior*, but actually didn't have any formal theory or policy of race-based genocide, as Germany did.

* Japan's military barbarism in WWII is even more outrageous, and tragic, when one realizes that pre-WWII, pre-1930s Japan was completely different in this respect - one aspect of the country's ceaseless efforts to demonstrate its modernity and civilized bona fides included model treatment of POWs in 1905 and WWI - the "bushido" ethic and traditions were turned upside down by the barbaric mentality that took over in the 20s and 30s

In Russian language classes - at least in the distant before-times - they gave you one night (1) to memorize the Cyrillic alphabet, along with pronunciations. I recall the shock. That was part of the point - it really wasn't hard to do, and giving you one night to do it shocked you, and then you realized the next day that it wasn't a big deal. Lessee - 32 characters in Cyrillic, vs. 26 in our alphabet? I think. Many many Greek letters and more/less identical ones, so it was not that hard.

Not sure what there is to see at Kursk.

Many of the epic battles on the eastern front took place in open areas, or partly forested ones, and there's not much to "see" there now connected to the battles.

However the artifact/remain/treasure hunting there only got started after the USSR collapsed, and the battles were immense (with minimal efforts at recovery/marking etc.), so THAT is going to be going on for a long time.

The vaccines for free ice cream thing: I assume said kids have to sign some sort of waiver. But if the kids aren't of age, then it would seem a parent's would be required to sign the waiver.

So, the first one of those kids to get cardiac inflammation, or a blood clot, etc, the parent should sue the hell out of those running this "clinic".

The hill we were on was cratered and littered with rusty chunks of shrapnel from WWII. 610 >> most medicines anyway carry a non-zero risk of death or anal leakage already!

That's true. Very true. One needs to do a risk vs benefit calculation. But to do that, one needs an accurate number for the risk. That takes time and data.

All of that is lacking in these Covid vaccines. The risk is unknown. But for kids and young adults the risk of Covid infection is pretty damn tiny. For some older adult with one or more comorbidities, the risk of Covid is fairly high.

A paper I was reading this afternoon pointed out that for a "unprecedented" vaccine, that is a vaccine for something that has never been done before, it takes about 12.5 years to go through the process of arriving at a good estimate for the risks, with about a 2% chance of success.

No one has gone through any of that process with this crap they're throwing out there.

Take Vioxx. COX-2 specific NSAID. It went through the full process for FDA approval. It passed and went to market, heavily promoted.

Five years later, it was taken off the market. Turns out it killed 60K people out of 4 million who took it. That's a 1.5% death rate. Vioxx killed 1.5% of the people who took it regularly.

Now, turns out there were indications of this little problem during the trials and the approval process, but they were ignored or not followed up on.

There are far more unknowns in these Covid vaccines than there were with Vioxx when it first started the process.

Here's something interesting about coronavirus vaccines. There is a coronavirus that infects cats. In some small number of them, it will result in an almost always fatal syndrome known as FIP, feline infectious peritonitis.

They tried for a while to make a vaccine for it. There were many failures, but there is now one that works (safe and effective). It took many trials and tribulations to get it.

In once trial, they had a big problem. ADE, antibody disease enhancement. Vaccinated cats become much more sensistive to the virus, and when exposed to the actual virus after vaccination, nearly all cats died from FIP.

Whoops. Only guinea pig cats died in that experiment.

Posted by: publius, Rascally Rapscallion of a Poperin Pear at May 25, 2021 01:15 AM (Mzdiz)

635 yop - that sounds great. My only battlefield touring wasn't really such - but months in Leningrad lets you see the mass grave cemetery at Piskorovskiye - and on Nevsky Prospyekt they kept the messages painted on the buildings: "During bombardment this side of the street is safer".

I mentioned the battlefield explorers above - I would never do that, of course. But it's interesting to observe. Red Army "dog tag" equivalents were a little capsule, containing a small piece of paper with essential personal info, that was usually sewn into pants or belts. Some of these battlefield explorers have found some capsules with the document intact enough to search out next of kin.

And while I don't know the Red Army MIA totals from WWII, they must have been enormous beyond our imagination. Entire divisions were surrounded and obliterated, and no attempt made to account for them down to the individual soldier level.

637 Caesar - yes, "losses" in armored vehicles in WWII European context is a more complicated thing than it seems at first. Any vehicle not behind enemy lines (or in contested area too dangerous for such) was recovered, if possible, and fixed, if possible. Can't recall details right now but I think several historians trying to get the absolute truth about the situation on the German side at Kursk have been stymied by conflicting documentation on recovery and repair.

Of course in classic Russian/Soviet style, the Red Army would bury disabled tanks that had functioning turrets/main guns, creating fixed gun emplacements. These were difficult targets, and served well at Kursk and in other places.

Now, I'm going to put on a tinfoil hat. Suppose Covid is indeed a Chicom bioweapon. But a two-part bioweapon. We've gone through Phase 1. Suppose Chicoms release a certain bat coronavirus they've been playing with for a while. But one they discovered some unusual property thereof.

Phase I. Release it into the world. Cause a panic and widespread adoption of a vaccine. You provide copies of the spike protein of said virus to use for new vaccines. These vaccines target that spike protein, and produce a class of antibodies against it, which is not the same as the antibodies produced by natural infection from the actual virus.

You get the West to vaccinate nearly all their population with it. Unknown to the West, these antibodies have a curious property.

They will greatly enhance infection and mortality in all recipients, via an ADE effect to another, similar coronavirus you have in the lab.

You now release that. You kill 95% of the people who have those special antibodies.

Posted by: publius, Rascally Rapscallion of a Poperin Pear at May 25, 2021 01:22 AM (Mzdiz)

639
Now, do I believe the above is possible? Yep, it is possible. But very unlikely. That would ascribe a level of cunning and evil to the Chicoms beyond imagination.

I was reading some stuff about such a scenario. It is possible that something like that could be done, with what is known now.

Coronaviruses are bad about this ADE effect. It occurs naturally, BTW. Think of it as sort of a quality control problem of the natural immune system.

Again, this is tinfoil hat shit, and I don't believe this is anywhere near likely, just something I was reading about and said, "Wow!".

Suppose the Phase II virus is normally, of itself, pretty harmless. Wouldn't produce anything of note in those it infected otherwise. But for those who happened to have certain antibodies, produced a crafted spike protein vaccine antibody to another, similar virus, it becomes a deadly, near certain death virus.

And, in those with antibodies produced by natural infection to the Phase I virus, not much effect either.

It's only the antibodies produced by the particular vaccines to the spike protein of the Phase I virus that enhance the Phase II virus.

The Chicom's own "vaccines" to Covid are pretty much crap. They don't provide much protection against the virus. Is it just Chicom incompetence, or suppose the Chicoms don't want the vaccine to be effective. Because an effective vaccine means certain death when exposed to the Phase II virus.

Again, this is tin-foil hat shit. But not impossible. Something like this could indeed happen.

It's not really tinfoil given the (lethal) failures on vaccines for SARS-1 and MERS - it's actually a very real threat.

The Chinese lab under suspicion in Wuhan has published papers on deliberately adding this behavior to coronaviruses, and they've been saber-rattling their biowarfare efforts for almost 20 years now.

652 Here's a paper from Sept. 2020 warning about the ADE problem with Covid vaccine efforts:

https://www.nature.com/
articles/s41564-020-00789-5

Now. Fact. All the Covid vaccines target the spike protein of this Covid virus. Not the whole virus, which is what naturally immunity produces.

Fact 2: All these vaccines produce a much great proportion of binding to neutralizing antibodies than natural infection does. Indeed, it is possible to detect the difference between natural and vaccine antibodies. Several papers which I've linked to over the past few days demonstrate this.

Binding-only antibodies are the culprit with ADE. All the vaccines give you a much higher percentage of the binding vs neutralizing types.

Bruce was a great folk guitarist, he likely played some of the tastier licks on the early albums. Bob was pretty good too, but studio time was really expensive and they needed to get songs done. Session guys could do that. The tell is, when you see a lot of guys play live, they never use those goofy off brand tunings and tricky fingerstyle patterns to play their hits. 673 No Pixy thread and I got a geek question too.
Well it's not going away so maybe tomorrow.

Have a great St Floyd day, fly that BLM flag high and get you some social justice too.

674 > Again, this is tin-foil hat shit. But not impossible. Something like this could indeed happen.

Then China gets a large number of W-87s, straight down at terminal velocity.

676 Hey Skip yeah you are right, I even watched some crazy videos of it last night of my old stomping grounds. We used to require so much more than a birthday tictoc party, a surf contest was sufficient

684 Good morning! No Pixy. . . Cherries in a German pancake would be good, too, and now I'm hungry.

686 Peterson should have just shut the Hell up most of the time in that interview. Talking over & interrupting the interviewee is not good.

Besides, Peterson's vocal mannerisms are annoying & his hand gestures distracting (I kept expecting him to try & pull a rabbit out of his hat).

687 That story at the next to last link leaves more questions than answers...

1) Was the gun fake, or not?

2)"... and was quickly arrested by a Florida High Patrol trooper". What is a "Florida High Patrol", and how does one go about joining that organization?
