One problem with much of "conservative" media and pundits is they don't even try to hide the abject disgust they have for conservative *people*. And that probably relates to why their punditry is so consistently off-base and serves mostly to help the left continue its advances.


If you like conservative people, if you know them and love them, you will naturally understand their views and not caricature them or think your job is to mock and destroy the people who hold them. The regular lefty propagandists can do that job (and do it much better, frankly).

Imagine a world where non-lefty media and conservative pundits thought they might, oh I don't know, use their perch to explain conservative views and people in a way that didn't include accepting and promoting every leftist framing of the last few decades. Crazy thought, I know.

True, but of course, the "conservative" media is made up 90% of urban cultural-left liberals, and that is not by accident; the billionaire funders of the fake conservative media want liberals in those positions, because they do not want a conservative media at all. They want a fake conservative media which is actually libertarian/socially left, but which promotes the idea of Rule by the Strong, where "the Strong" are the billionaire backers themselves.


British soccer fans again boo millionaire players for taking a knee to honor the Marxist organization BLM.

These guys are really good at ball-handling. I always notice their enthusiasm for handling balls. They're such naturals at handling balls, whether gently or roughly, I almost imagine that they were born with the "smell of balls" on their hands. Why, they virtually eat balls!!!

The bodycams show that as the cops came up to his car (shouting at him to stop), he backed up his car, but he was blocked by the house, so then he drove forward. He almost hit one cop, who had to reach out and push himself away from the car with his hand.

Reporters at the press conference argued with the prosecutor, saying that Brown was just trying to get away. But Brown drove his car at the cops, and the cops couldn't read his mind anymore than the reporters could. The cops had the right to defend themselves.

Yup. They're probably already there, or nearly so. A vast majority of their domestic regular full-time employees probably already pull that (that's $52k a year). That's probably high for a teller or a new receptionist, but most of them probably exceed it. The janitors, the people who stock the employee break rooms, etc. aren't regular employees - they work for some outside firm contracted to the company (if BofA is like virtually every other major company).

Assuming that you're not talking about blocking out something in the picture itself, you want to look for a tool to strip EXIF data (that's the photographic metadata injected by digital camera and includes things like f-stop, resolution, manufacturer, location if geotagging is enabled, etc.). Lots of utilities can manipulate or strip EXIF data.

But this was particularly stupid, because these "reporters" basically claimed they could read Brown's mind. On the bodycam videos, you can see Brown accelerate toward the cops, who were standing in front of his car. How the hell can reporters know whether Brown was trying to get away, or trying to run over the cops? They can't know that now, anymore than the cops on the scene could know it then. All anybody could tell was that Brown was driving his car at the cops. And that was threat enough, especially from somebody with Brown's criminal history, to justify the cops using deadly force to defend themselves.

That's a part of it. The other part - and probably the bigger one - is money. You have to train essentially your whole life if you're going to be a pro athlete. If you're going to invest that kind of time - especially the irreplaceable and extremely valuable time of your youth - what are you going to pursue?

It isn't going to be soccer. The really big money in American sports isn't in soccer because Americans don't really care about it. The big money is in basketball, baseball and to a lesser degree in football. If soccer could command that kind of money, we'd have more young men going full-throttle at soccer careers.

I have a couple small surgical straps in my upper jaw. I've always let the imaging people know about it, but they don't seem to think it's an issue. Probably because it's screwed into the bone and not loose tissue.

In some areas, it's sensible. Where I am has really high radon levels. When I bought my house, I asked my dad about it since that's his business (radiation safety). He said he thought that the federal standard of >4 pCi/L being danger zone was excessive, but that it would be worth testing for where I bought my house. I did. The lower level of the house tested at >20 pCi/L, so I had it mitigated (split the cost with the seller). I wouldn't have bothered at 5. The old man said he'd be concerned above 7. Post-mitigation, it fell to 1.5.

I dunno. I'm not a chemist. I took his word for it.

I used to be a yuuuuuuge Raiders fan, and I loved me some Bo. However, all due respect to how great Bo was, I'll argue that most hockey players are better athletes.

Remember the old "Bo Knows" commercials? Bo knows baseball. Bo knows football. Bo knows tennis. What happened when Gretzky skated up to him? "Bo knows.... Nah!" Even Bo kinda admitted it!

I never thought about that. If the bearing is stationary, does anything interesting happen as the angular velocity approaches c? Anybody? I'd try it myself but I don't want it to mess up the radon gadget.

299 I once had a Chrysler 200 as a rental car. Dreadful thing, but the worst part was the automatic transmission. It had way too many gears for one thing (I think it had like 12 or 14), and so it was *always* hunting for the right place to be. They were able to cram all those gears into it by having two mechanisms with a dog clutch between them. The transition from the upper to lower (or vice-versa) set was jarring and sudden. The transition between gears within a set was vague. The continuous gear hunting meant that it was never in the right place and made for a nasty combination of both soupy and jarring. It was like the gearbox was filled with oatmeal, and the oatmeal was laced with shrapnel.

That transmission is the perfect metaphor for Joe Biden's brain.

A guess? A bit of 'right time, right place' luck.
He started a media fanboy site, TVNewser, while in college that was successful. He sold it to a a larger media blog. He then got a job as media reporter for NYT, which I assume was just when they were moving from print to web, with Stelters successful blog making him a good hire to bring his younger audience to the NYT site. Then a few years later Howie Kurtz was poached by Fox (ugh), and CNN needed a replacement.
