Yes, Skip. My FIL passed away yesterday at 4:04pm.

33 Olddog, that's very sad, and touching. Makes you think about things.

Posted by: SFGoth at May 02, 2021 05:28 AM (X9WjX)

34 If you ate a Big Mac, fries and coke every day, the chances you would lose weight are pretty good. I respect the ideas about intermittent fasting and also low carb. I am not so sure about Keto as that get's a bit cultish. But if you eat less than you normally eat, the chances you lose weight are pretty good inmo.

I think the low carb thing makes sense. You don't spike insulin and blood sugar, so it is easier to maintain. Then again, show me a low carber that doesn't crave some carbs and sugar once in a while. I still say eating less and moving more is the answer. The Basic training diet works for real. The problem is it is very difficult to replicate in the real world.

It is not about starving yourself, but more about getting rid of the regular crapola.

same here. I never drink them. But recently I have had a few. I think I got pissed seeing all the thinies that drink them regularly. But yeah. those are about the worst choice you can make. that is awesome MLII! I do the salad thing too. I either like them or taught myself to like them. But I do enjoy a salad almost daily. I go with fresh lemon and olive oil. There are a few ranch dressings that are very low carb, I might use them sparingly. I also learned to love cucumber. My youthful incarnation would never had understood that. I used to hate cucumber.

48 What's credible about sweet tea? If tea were supposed to be sweet, camellia sinensis would have sugar in it. It may rankle some feathers, but from a pharmacological perspective, refined sugar is a drug.

50 Cucumbers are awesome, Quint.

My favorite version of my salad has kale with romaine (about a 1/3 : 2/3 ratio) and a bit of cilantro. I use a really good olive oil with the juice from a cut up grapefruit, and some sea salt. I add the cut up grapefruit, avocado, blueberries and a twist of lime juice.

But I mix it up with the greens, sometimes add dandelion greens.

My goal was to fix the inflammation in my body, but the losing weight thing is a nice bonus!

I am never going to give up Spaghetti and Marinara. Some good corn chips and salsa area rare indulgence, but I wouldn't give them up either. I recall being in Europe for a long while, a really long while. While my favorite cuisine is Italian, the one thing that I really jonesed on was missing out on chips, salsa. and a Margarita. I did it once in a while, and some of that was likely nostalgia.

59 I try to keep the pasta to meat sauce ratio low. And they say if you use real durum pasta, and cook it al dente, the insulin spike is not that much. I choose to believe them. But like everything else, you have to pick your spots. I rarely eat bread, cake, etc. In fact, I am still a bit amazed that many can't think of pasta without garlic bread on the side lol. To each there own there.

I have been a fresh lemon fanatic for ages. Lemon in tea, lemon on fish, lemon on salad with oil. You can also use vinegar on salad, but it does not go well with wine. Now giving up wine, off, that one will hurt.

If anything the GOP hates the base more than the commiecrats do. They've made it clear that they're pissed off at us for rejecting their dogshit establishment choices in 2016 and choosing an outsider who promised to do what we wanted. They spent four years torpedoing him and aren't shy about it. They've gotten it 180 degrees wrong on who works for who and are in for a big surprise next year if they keep listening to turds like Romney, Cheney and Luntz.

Is this the first time you have been in Florida?

Posted by: dantesed at May 02, 2021 07:49 AM (88xKn)

No. First time in 10 years, though. I went to the Cape many times in the preceding 30 years, for NASA. I always flew in and out of Orlando and rented a car. Only drove in the Orlando and Cape Canaveral areas.

Making the VP the chairman of the National Space Council or its equivalent is traditional. If NASA and every other US space outfit is lucky, Kameltoe will be too uninterested to bother doing anything other than asking why so few blacks in the meetings.
