Had (more than) a few beers with a neighbor last evening. His wife is a very high muckety muck in a huge outfit that has international and national defense reach. One aspect of the the cancel culture that I had not considered before but he brought up was he must be very, very reserved on what he says, views, and comments on online.
He thinks like me mostly - actually, he is even more strident against the left and our boneheaded 'leaders' than I am. But he feels his wife would be hounded from her position if the blue-haired Karens get ahold of him, even though she had nothing to do with it. He's probably right. side note: She's a bourbon, Tequila drinker so, a great gal. Posted by: Tonypete at May 01, 2021 08:11 AM (Rvt88) 26

I think that will be the result of the fraud investigation as well.
To admit findings of massive fraud would shake the foundation to much. It will admit small individual cases but not enough to sway a election. Close the case, any further inquiry will be a crime and on to even more fair elections in 2022. Posted by: Skip at May 01, 2021 08:21 AM (Cxk7w) 39

Good news, horror fans! Galaxy of Terror, the cult classic by Roger Corman (with an actual budget), is available on Tubi. Catch it while you can. "That Scene" starts at about 40 minutes. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you probably don't want to see it. But it does involve Taffy O'Connell and a 55 gallon drum of Astroglide. And a giant rapey worm. This is also the movie where you said "That's not Erin Moran, is it? Holy..." This movie can make ANYBODY feel guilty! Enjoy! Oh yeah, Prometheus still sucks. You'll notice that Kings and Chronicles overlap quite a bit. Best guess is that Kings is copy of the Official Records of the Kingdom of Judah (the southern Kingdom) and Chronicles is a copy of the records of the Northern Kingdom (Israel) They were all combined in Babylon during the captivity. Tom, I finished a chronological bible last year. It makes a bit more sense, (continuity?) of Kings and Chronicles. And you're correct, the Southern and Northern kingdoms.
What's fascinating is if you list out all the kings, and whether they did good or evil, or a mix, in the eyes of the Lord, there were WAY more evil ones than good. Reminds me a lot of current times. Posted by: Trog04 at May 01, 2021 09:33 AM (wfZwW) 162
It's very unlikely that the Hebrews leaving Egypt stayed in Sinai for 40 years - then as now, there simply isn't enough vegetation and water to support more than a relative handful of people for very long, and Exodus contains almost no details about where they actually went after leaving Mt. Sinai. It's speculated that they went south for a while, along the east side of the Red Sea as far as modern Yemen, before heading back up to Canaan. Yeah, it's a long ways, but they had 40 years to kill.

As Nick Taleb has pointed out, absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. Even for Rome, which built in stone and left libraries full of records, we probably only know about 10% of what went on. People's who didn't build in stone while they traveled left no record at all of their passing. And actually, some inscriptions have been found in Egypt which refer to a barbarian tribe they called the "Habiru" in their Delta region, and this is the bunch that somehow became dominant in Canaan a couple hundred years later. Exodus does say hundreds of thousands and I had never thought about the time stream messing around.
As said, it's called Faith. I was only thinking of the general logistics of movement. Bedouins or Sioux are good examples but those numbers would be much smaller. I wouldn't look for archeological evidence simply because of the location of the movement, the tendency of wiping out any pagans they met along the way and the general nature of the terrain. The OR Trail still shows the signs of use in places. Wagon ruts and such. That's been only 150 years? Exodus was a couple or three thousand years ago. Not many signs of the great Sioux westward migration when they were forced out of Minnesota to the plains. Posted by: Winston, GOPe, not one dime, not one vote at May 01, 2021 10:02 AM (4Oe2V) 200
What's really laughable is that R politicians would actually believe him. I'm sure most of them get a good earful from their actual constituents about amnesty, global warming, "common sense gun control," and the like. But they stick their fingers in their ears and like what Luntz the megaton Duntz says more.
Posted by: Lady in Black "Belief" is stronger than evidence, in people's minds. Politicians want to "Believe" that people are FOR amnesty (it just seems so FAIR!), want Global Warming controlled (sorry, no car for you!) and on and on. The enduring fact that a majority of Republicans AND Democrats really don't like most of this hogwash speaks volumes to how 1) Politicians really aren't interested in what you think 2) People will vote against their own interests if that ONE thing they want they are promised. This all gets so very old. Posted by: Bozo Conservative ...meticulous weirdo at May 01, 2021 10:04 AM (tjZg/) 201
