Posted by: All Hail Eris, Sans-Culottes (except for the Book Thread) at April 02, 2021 09:10 PM (Dc2NZ) From what I understand, the accusers say that Gaetz was caught paying for underage sex. Gaetz and his supporters say that no, this was a very elaborate scam set up by the Deep State to try and extort $25 million out of him, because his father-in-law is mega rich. And that they tried a reverse sting to prove what was going on. It's very possible that all of the worst accusations on all sides are true. It's Washington, Jake. Also remember that in modern corporate culture, very few CEOs are true kings of their business - the type of founder-owner who is the model of an authoritarian CEO, like Ford, or Rockefeller, or Gates. In a corporate bureaucracy, the goal isn't to do the right thing, it's to avoid the appearance that you did the wrong thing - avoiding any accountability. If something bad did happen, blame the process.

It went without saying that Support for the Crown was absolute. everything Old is New again. To use Yarvin's example -
Yale, Harvard, the NYT and the Washington Post of 2021 are all on the same page ideologically. Yale, Harvard, the NYT and the Washing Post of 1951 were all on the same page ideologically. Yet either would be horrified by their time partner - 1951 Harvard could not abide 2021 Harvard, and vice versa. This may be due to coordination at a high level. It's actually a much scarier thought to imagine that it all happened organically - no piper needed to call the tune. They all just somehow realized they already knew the song. The free marketer has a solution, of course - if these businesses truly stopped representing their customers, that means the market has a vacuum. We all know how nature feels about vacuums. A company that is receptive to its customers should be able to take over some of that real estate.
We all know the problem though, right? The govt is positioned to starve any new competition of oxygen before it can get any foothold from which to threaten the corporate hegemons. Posted by: Broseidon at April 02, 2021 09:43 PM (icI8A) 112

All American institutions, federal govt, lower govt to a large extent, major corporations, and the cultural institutions have been captured by a globalist oligarchy. The oligarchy is hell bent on a New World Order. That New Order is really the Old World Order (99.9% of the population being serfs and slaves ruled over by top 0.1% who get all the fruits of the 99.9%'s labor), I realized a while back. America, as founded whose principles were laid down in the Constitution (and Declaration) overthrew that, and led to rise of the middle class, regular people with enough wealth to be independent and chart their own course. This is what the oligarch's despise. There is nothing they fear more than freedom for the masses. Don't even bother wondering why market forces aren't working. Monopolies and oligopolies don't follow market forces. They can actively thwart them, and when they have the power of the state behind them, which they do the world over, they can kill and destroy those market forces that would challenge them. How does that not fit with (B)? Their client is the Cathedral. They don't serve their shareholders, they serve the collective ethos of all this country's decadent legacy holders of prestige, academia and media being the most prominent. Posted by: Broseidon I might be being nitpicking, but the banks and financials are the largest shareholders. Look up any SnP 500 company's largest shareholders. They are invariably mutual/index/hedge funds. Those aren't necessarily 'legacy' holders; some are new money. They are just the last into the castle before the gate closes on the peasants outside. There was a guy on twitter who did a deep dive on Mastercard, went y Nickmon1112 after Mastercard insisted Robert Spencer (Jihadwatch) and FrontPage Mag be dropped by their payment processor. Traced back to several years earlier at some European Soros sponsored conference on refugees where some VP at Mastercard and a few global banks pledged to assist the penniless refugees washing up on Europe's shores. As a result, they eventually also started choosing to not do busines with people and businesses that did not support refugees, and THEN they started actively seeking out ways to use their company's influence to stop other companies from providing services to those deemed anti-refugee. I don't think a Coke or Delta see some tweets and decide to boycott Georgia. I think the activism starts when the CEOs/execs partner w/NGOs (GLAAD, BLM, pp) and other big companies, then gains momentum, from sponsorship to agressive targeting like boycotting states. Another thing to understand is this woke SJW shit, critical race theory shit and all that poison is just a tool, a means to an end the oligarchy wants. They want to destroy American as we know it and turn it into something else (think Chinese model). And the way to do that is destroy the existing culture and norms and pit us all against each other. That chaos allows them to destroy America as founded and "fundamentally transform it". All these things you see are the result of an oligarchy firmly in control of everything. They make decisions, and boom, all the institutions fall in line. I think Trump scared the hell out of them. He represented "real America" rising up against the oligarchs. They got so scared, they realized it was time to go ahead and go for broke, lest they lose control. Posted by: publius, Rascally Rapscallion of a Poperin Pear at April 02, 2021 10:07 PM (Mzdiz) 162

Oh, definitely! It seems that when companies start advocating something at a benign level, such as: celebrate Pride day, recognize same-sex partners, etc. to please LGBTQ execs who pledged to do this at Davos, Aspen Institute retreat, or whatever. By doing this they are buying into a cause, and the more they do for the cause, the more these execs, and in their eyes, their brand is tied to that cause. Coke supports LGBTQ! By embracing the cause, they also then feel an obligation to thwart anything that harms tha cause, such as anti SSM law, trans bathroom law, etc. It's an obligation to use what they have -- their weight as a huge company -- to do what they can. By then they see their brand as invested in doing so. Posted by: Lizzy at April 02, 2021 10:09 PM (bDqIh) 167

I'm a contrary bastard but I don't see Trump as the reason they are acting like this. Partly because I saw much of this coming before Trump even landed on the scene.
I *do* believe they were scared by Trump. But I think (and said for many years) that all of this was coming for us regardless. Remember Hillary labeled us all "Deplorables" and "Irredeemable" in a prepared speech, preceding her anointing. You *could* say that was a response to Trump, but I think labeling us was rather preparing the public battlespace for all the censorship (online and off) and bullshit to come. Recall the Deep State, Intelligence, and military leadership was *already* packed to the gills with commie worshipers. That was before Trump. And it was done for a reason. All while "friendly" outlets like FOX were telling us how upstanding and straight shootin these trusted agencies were. It's hard to fathom that this was headed our way, at this speed, regardless of Trump, but I believe it was. Posted by: ... at April 02, 2021 10:21 PM (uEbPt) 196

I also think - and yes I'm sure people think this is 'out there' - that the "COVID" op was coming for us even if Hillary was in power. In fact I think it was *planned* to happen under Hillary.
How would someone get a foothold to campaign against her - the incumbent - during pandemic conditions? Add in mail-in balloting and we were even easier pickings. She would have supported and encouraged every local lockdown measure. And all the spending to keep us safe. The intelligence agencies and military would have carried tons of weight with their various declarations. She would have lead the world into The Great Reset. One key antibody we are now missing is the reflexive love of country that tended to act as white blood cells, muscling out ideas and movements that were truly suicidal to the overall existence of the nation. It's not even patriotism, really - just the innate loyalty one may have to his family, even members of his family that he hates. *You* can call your mom a bitch - if someone else does, they get a punch to the mouth.

Again, I'm always reluctant to believe in large scale organization on a multi-national level. I think COVID escaped from a Chinese bioweapons research facility. Looking at how the US reacted - I believe it can be explained by the Neo-Reactionary breakdown of ideas, that ideas do not win out in the Cathedral because they are true or beautiful, but because they are useful, and a useful idea will be a dominant allele. It will also have a bias towards action. That seems to fit COVID, right? Lockdowns and mask mandates and such are useful - they expand govt authority. They are an obvious bias towards action.

You could say the drug is money, complacency, material possessions. It could also be said that the drug is power, or the perception of having power. Paraphrasing Yarvin again, an American citizen becomes convinced that without power, he will be oppressed. The drug addict believes that without more drugs, he will be depressed.
It's a difficult mindset to fight because it isn't entirely wrong - the drug addict will indeed probably be depressed if deprived of his high. Of course, he's also actually in worse shape the more he indulges his addiction. Voting, of course, isn't really power - it's the lowest possible expression of democratic power. How does one get power? Well, it's difficult - but aping the ideological stances of the oligarchy gives a phantom sense of power. Posted by: Broseidon at April 02, 2021 10:45 PM (icI8A) 237
Any successful political organization needs a leader.
That's likely why Trump got the full service he did. They allow the orgs they can use. They isolate and destroy all the ones that are a threat. Think about that. The tea party was shredded to bits for what? Because they wanted smaller government and accountability. They wanted someone to get something done about big problems. They brought even more heat against MAGA. But it's all the same. Attack any party that wants to put the people and constitution first. Posted by: AlaBAMA at April 02, 2021 10:46 PM (Q87rR) 238

As an Iowanian, I studied this a bit. The Governatrix signed it today.
Formerly (or until July) a prospective firearms (handgun) buyer had to obtain a permit to purchase from the county, the Sheriff. The Sheriff simply ran a NICS as far as I know. Then when puchasing at an FFL dealer, he would run another NICS. Then had to apply for a concealed carry permit. I didn't or don't mind having the sheriff sign off. I guess - so long as the process isn't corrupted. In some states, ain't nobody getting a permit (to carry) unless you make a large donation to his re-election. Hm. Does this new law apply to "open carry"? I assume so, but it ain't wise to assume anything with gun laws. How about knives?? "Right to keep and bear arms" also means knives. How about swords? That might be kinda cool too. Rockin' a good sabre always looks pretty strack. Posted by: Common Tater at April 02, 2021 11:05 PM (tjqz9) 266

Thing about Jesus is this:
For most, He exists as an example of a good man, glossing over His divinity. A good man doesn't proclaim himself as God unless he is insane or evil. Jesus is neither. Nor is He dead. If you believe in Jesus the man, but not Jesus the son of God, God made flesh, then you completely miss the whole point of Christianity. Posted by: SMH at April 02, 2021 11:35 PM (oUI8H) 319

The fake conservatives didn't object to Trump because of mean tweets, they objected because they were told to by their leftist masters (the same way they were told to facilitate him until the Dems figured out too late that putting him up as a straw man was a bad idea), and then trusted to come up with the proper excuses justifying it. "In the face of a concerted boycott campaign, Kemp calls on fellow governors to 'stand up and fight.'' Georgia's Brian Kemp is Not Backing Down Let me note that Kemp is between a rock and a hard place. His cred is on a par with North Korea's. So. He does the necessary, as suggested by Milton Friedman-- Making the wrong people do the Right Thing. The quote -- "Unless it is politically profitable for the wrong people to do the right thing, the right people will not do the right thing either, or it they try, they will shortly be out of office..."
