Instead of letting this linger below at the tag end of the ONT ...

Early awakening on a day that promises nothing but rain. Perhaps it is time to tackle the accumulation of items not put away and those no longer needed in our basement. Weeded one of our garden beds yesterday after assisting with two scouts' Eagle leadership projects.

Eagle leadership projects is the term I use for scout Eagle projects because the primary thrust of such endeavors is to have the youths demonstrate and exercise their leadership skills. I am staying on with my troop as its Eagle Coach when I step down as Scoutmaster at the end of August.

88 I have heard that the late Larry McMurtry hated his earlier books that put him on the map.

You see the same thing in later Waylon Jennings shows. In his case - I think it may have been a hatred of himself rather than the material. Jerry Reed and Tom T Hall never did that - they always exuded a genuine humility and desire to give the crowd what they came to see. I was never good enough to play at their level - not even close - but if I was, I'd want to emulate them. Ot George Thorogood - another cat that always brought it, rain or shine.

Taxing by the mile is a great way to install trackers on cars (easier to gather travel data than license plate reading), and to penalize people for commuting and travel. Agenda 21/hate of the suburbs, make it costly to live fare away from densly populated areas.

Cars = FREEDOM

Anything that reduces your access to cars is to reduce your freedom. This includes driverless cars.

what gripes me about people going on about geothermal is that you've got to be on top of a real hot shallow magma pool for it to have any chance of working - Iceland, Hawaii, the volcano belt in northern California and Oregon. Outside of that, the crust is too thick and it won't work.

I recall that Hawaii had a real successful geothermal plant. Then in the last eruption, it got buried under 30 feet of lava. Oops, occupational hazard.

We bought a 2600 desktop when they had been out for six months or so. It's been fantastic, and all I and the kids need for things like Mad Max, Minecraft, Wolfenstein, etc. I don't need bleeding edge, and this fit the bill perfectly.

I had built all my desktops for twenty years before buying this one pre-made, but after running the specifications and including the OS the pre-built one was $20 cheaper and I wouldn't have to track down bugs in individual components and deal with individual warranties if something went wrong.

So yeah, +1 on those Ryzen processors.

I'd like to think that a lot of parents are realizing that there are many home schooling materials accessible to them and are gong to try and remove their children from the public schools...

but from observation of the public, I doubt it, and besides, we all know that removing small children from the public indoctrination camps will soon be classified as "child abuse"!

182 those of us who know what Pantone color charts are,
they are standardize colors. The governments will use them to determine
where you fall on the person of color list. Above a certain color you

I used to look forward to the announcement of Pantone's Color of the Year. One year it was a lovely Emerald Green. The next year it was an "are you kidding me" shade of bilious maroon. I'm not sure how they would racialize that, but it won't be for lack of trying.

Oh well. The path is chosen and the streets are clear. We're putting obviously mentally ill people in charge of Health and Human Services and the courts are reinforcing three to six different kinds of law depending on who you are or know.

Depends, if you are willing to go the factory refurb route I would suggest getting a Xeon workstation and coupling it with one of the actual "working" graphics cards like a Quatro.

195 From the Gramsci link:

"and returned home to lead the resistance against Italys Prime Minister Benito Mussolini, on the orders of Lenin, while his new wife and children stayed in the USSR.

Those efforts landed Gramsci in an Italian prison..."

---

Another moron pointed it out and it was a fantastic observation.

Lenin won. He took over America. Pro-Lenin Gramsci was imprisoned and that's when he wrote all of his work that America then embraced and incorporated.

Pretty neat when you think about it.

Also COJ if you are willing to go "not off the shelf" I think you can build a 12 core 24 thread processor that would sledgehammer your work for under 2500 without the graphics card.

Your graphics card solution would be the real cost determiner for a CAD system.

The trades say you need a Xeon or Threadripper to do the job, but I'd contend that a properly configured Ryzen 7 or 9 would see you through.
