The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

“We now have an intelligentsia which, though very small, is very useful to the cause of Hell.”C.S. Lewis

Quote II

“That’s the most humane form of immigration where you don’t have people making this dangerous trek, and it literally shows you what bad policy can do to the country that in 90 days, in less than 90 days, a system that was working and was perfect and that was fixed turned to absolute junk.”Eric Trump

Quote III

“Our best chance to get something passed is universal background checks. I think the theory of the case is: Once we convince Republicans that the sky doesn’t fall for you politically when you support a reasonable expansion of something like background checks, you can move onto other interventions.Senator Christopher Murphy (D-CT)

And that innocuous statement should scare the hell out of you.

Quote IV

“Can we talk about how horrible it is to travel while being transgender sometimes? I always have immense anxiety leading up to going through security. And this means that I totally recognize the privilege of having all of my documents correct. So, the gender marker on my license, for example, says female,”Rose Montoya

It's a start I guess. But, probably too little, too late.

USA TODAY Sports’ race and inclusion editor Hemal Jhaveri announced Friday she was fired after falsely saying an “angry white man” was responsible for Monday’s mass shooting in Boulder, Colorado.

“[I]t’s always an angry white man. Always,” Jhaveri said Monday evening before police revealed the shooter was 21-year-old Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa, a migrant from Syria.

1954, the case for the universal ID Card.

2021, the Kung Flu ID Card.

The nation’s very first “vaccine passport” is coming to the Big Apple.

The program, dubbed the “Excelsior Pass,” is an app that will allow New Yorkers to prove their vaccination status, or recent history of a negative COVID-19 test, in order to gain entry to events and businesses, Governor Cuomo announced in a news release Friday.

“Similar to a mobile airline boarding pass, individuals will be able to either print out their pass or store it on their smartphones using the Excelsior Pass Wallet app,” the news release explains.

“Each Pass will have a secure QR code, which participating businesses and venues can scan using a companion app to verify proof of COVID-19 negative test results or proof of vaccination. An individual’s data is kept secure and confidential at all times.”

If it sounds too good to be true. It usually is.

Artificial intelligence will create so much wealth that every adult in the United States could be paid $13,500 per year from its windfall as soon as 10 years from now.

So says Sam Altman, co-founder and president of San Francisco-headquartered, artificial intelligence-focused nonprofit OpenAI.

"My work at OpenAI reminds me every day about the magnitude of the socioeconomic change that is coming sooner than most people believe," Altman, who posted Tuesday. "Software that can think and learn will do more and more of the work that people now do."

I find this quite funny. Reporterettes are being treated like other people.Cry me a river, boo-hoo.

“I’M AFRAID TO OPEN TWITTER”: NEXT-LEVEL HARASSMENT OF FEMALE JOURNALISTS IS PUTTING NEWS OUTLETS TO THE TEST

Newsrooms that once preached “don’t feed the trolls” are being forced to grapple with a daily deluge of smears. “Even the most open-minded media organizations are still run by men who don’t fundamentally understand the misogynistic nature of these attacks,” says one reporter.

“It started late one day, and you could see it kind of building on social media,” Washington Post national editor Steven Ginsberg recalled of the torrent of online abuse directed last month at Seung Min Kim. The Post reporter had been photographed showing Senator Lisa Murkowski a critical tweet sent by Neera Tanden and seeking comment, a standard journalistic practice somehow interpreted as out of bounds or even unethical. The first thing Ginsberg and other Post editors did was reach out to Kim—“just to say: We’re here, we see it, we care, and how are you doing?” But the racist and sexist attacks only escalated, propelling Ginsberg to put out a statement to not only take a stand against harassment, but to try to move the ball forward by explaining why what Kim was doing was completely appropriate. “She and other minority women endure vile, baseless attacks on a daily basis, no matter what story they are working on or tweeting about,” he wrote. “The attacks on her journalistic integrity were wildly misguided and a bad faith effort at intimidation.” Ginsberg’s goal, he told me, was “to defend and educate.”

No journalist is above criticism. But what female journalists described to me goes beyond legitimate scrutiny of a headline or story framing and into their sex lives, their families, and other topics unrelated to their work, a wildly disproportionate level of pushback to any perceived journalistic offense. The old newsroom motto “don’t feed the trolls” seems increasingly quaint as top editors and media executives grapple with how and when to respond publicly to the deluge of smears filling a reporter’s inbox or chasing them across social media. “The environment for journalists is getting increasingly dangerous,” Ginsberg said. If not heralding a new era of how media organizations deal with attacks on female reporters, recent statements from the Post and The New York Times reflect the extent to which the problem has worsened, particularly for women on the male-dominated beats of politics and technology.

The ONT Musical Interlude

Sheet music? We don't need no stinkin' sheet music.

University of Oxford considers scrapping sheet music for being 'too colonial' after staff raise concerns about music curriculums' 'complicity in white supremacy' after Black Lives Matter movement

Professors set to reform music courses to move away from the classic repertoire

Staff argued curriculum focuses on 'white European music from slave period'

It is thought that music writing will also be reformed to be more inclusive.

Angered that the mother of his son got him a Quarter Pounder instead of a Big Mac from McDonald’s, a Minnesota man allegedly argued with the woman before throwing her to the ground and then swiping money from the victim’s purse, police charge.

Responding to a flurry of 911 calls about a disturbance Sunday night at a residence in Mankato, a cop was told by the victim that she was assaulted by Mohamed Aboubaker, a Minneapolis resident with a lengthy rap sheet.

According to a criminal complaint, the 39-year-old Aboubaker “was visiting for the last few days” with the victim (the pair are parents to a three-year-old boy).

The woman told police that Aboubaker was upset because she got him “a quarter pounder instead of a big mac from McDonald’s.” An argument ensued and Aboubaker allegedly “threw her to the ground against the dresser.” The woman said that “her son was in the room and was screaming while this occurred.”

The victim said that after Aboubaker (pictured above) went into the kitchen and removed money from her purse, she confronted him and sprayed him with a can of “Mace” (which actually was hornet spray

No more trouble. Tonight's Feel Good Story of The Day.

Oklahoma City police shot and killed an inmate at the Oklahoma County jail after a hostage situation Saturday night involving a guard.

The jail remained on lockdown Saturday night with extra staff inside, while outside, a small group of protesters chanted and pounded on the jail’s parking lot gate, loud enough to be heard a block away.

The man who was killed was not identified by officials, pending family notification. Officials said he was the suspected hostage taker.

The jail employee was rescued and taken to a hospital for treatment. Jail Administrator Greg Williams said that the guard left the jail on his own, but did not provide details of his injuries.

The incident happened on the jail's 10th floor, where the inmates that are the hardest to manage are housed, Williams said.

Good to know.

Because (for example) there are a metric fuckton of dead people out there over the last 40 years or so, murdered by nutbars (who ... wait for it ... belong in nuthouses) but we were admonished there's nothing to be done about them, until they kill somebody. Because of things like HIPPA.

82 I'm pretty familiar at recognizing the standard logical fallacies. I think it's sometimes a thing in formal debates (assuming there any remaining) to count slippery slope as a fallacy.

Why is the "slippery slope" even considered one? I've never heard of this. As far as I'm comcerned it isn't even debateable. Not to anybody older than about twelve, and paying attention.

146 Dartist - this kind of thing has been going on a long, ling time.

The power of the mainstream media isn't necessarily the propaganda they report. Just as important, maybe more really, is the truth they suppress.

And the truth is the crime rate against children, elderly, and vulnerable groups by ... "protected" classes is off the charts and has been for some time.

You're not supposed to notice. The level of ignorance on this subject is difficult to fathom. For many people, it if isn't discussed on NBC or CNN, it didn't happen. And it can only have happened the way they describe it. No other possibility can be entertained. It is mind numbingly insane, but that's the deal.

Based on past behavior, I suspect it something along the lines, that they are trying to get out in front of something. It's much mire than blacks using asians as targets of opportunity, they don't care about that. At least, not so far. So it's something else.

It may be something is going to come out with respect to the WuHan Lung Aids, that it is confirmed bioweapon from a lab, or something like that. Just guessing, but the pattern fits. That's how the leftists roll. It dovetails with making sure nobody complains about losing thousands of factories to overseas globalist concerns, etc, too.

292 Okay, follow my line of reasoning, and tell me if I am on to something:

SARS-1 managed to make its way across the world and 2 years later - sans vaccine and without any fanfare - was pretty much played out. Haven't seen a case in over 15 years.

My bet is that COVID-19 is going to follow the same pattern - all of these "vaccines" are being given at the point in the virus' life cycle where it was starting to naturally subside, so "of course" the vaccine is seen by everyone to have "worked", when in reality the virus would have worked its way out of existence anyway.

Of course, I could be wrong. Then again, throughout history 95% of people who were exposed to "wild" Polio never had any symptoms or adverse reactions to the virus - long before a Polio vaccine was ever developed.

Pretty much. Amazon watches their workers like hawks. They have quotas to fill, and if they don't make it, they get disciplined or fired. Warehouse workers are afraid to take too many bathroom breaks and take to peeing in water and soda bottles.

Pictures of bottles of piss in Amazon facilities were tweeted back to Amazon's denial.

The piss bottle thing has been around for several years, and reported by a few big media. All except for the Washington Post. I just can't imagine why.

Some reporter tweeted to Amazon a picture of some "rules" posted in some Amazon facility in CA. Piss bottles were explicitly mentioned warning drivers it was their responsibility to clean up their vehicles and remove garbage and urine bottles. Failure to do so will result in a "formal write up".

The rules end with this (grammatical errors abound): Remember this is a performance base job. You need to be delivering 20 to 25 packages an hour unless you encounter obstacles. We do monitor your progress and route. Remember everyone is replaceable. Veteran or new driver. If you can't perform or follow this directions it will result in a write up or termination.

Around these parts, you're not permitted to hook up to the sewer until the whole system has been inspected, so the pipe will end in a pipe cap right before where the eventual sewer connection will be.

The roughed-in drains pose a nearly irresistible target for carpenters, electricians, drywallers, painters, insulators... leading to several weeks of stale piss being backed up behind the plug.

Taking off that pipe cap and making the connection is an apprentice's job.

Another way to order at Mac's is to say your order, then say "I'd like it cooked fresh". They will do exactly that, for sandwiches anyway, never tried it with fries.
Where it makes a difference in particular is the Filet-o-Fish. Nothing worse than fish that has been already cooked and sitting under a heat lamp for 5 minutes.
And the QP's are already now cooked to order, so no worry there, but the Big Mac patties are still usually coming from the warmed tray of already cooked burgers.

Amazon in particular is a sweatshop. I hope the workers do unionize. But on the whole, the changes being pushed thru by the new rutabagas in charge of the NLRB will make unionizing as easy as stealing a half million votes in PA or MI or AZ or GA or...

Open ballots (intimidation), extended voting, coughing up names and addresses of all workers to union organizers... all of that and more is coming or already in place.

I'm lucky. There's a local pizza shop within a half mile of my house. They have great pizza. I don't have to sprinkle it with red pepper flakes. They put some bite in their sauce.

I used to watch the Grammy Awards show to see different kinds of music I don't normally listen to, and the most successful musicians, regardless of style.
The last few years, I DVR'ed it to watch, but it was more like going to a zoo and watching which animals are the biggest draws. Like monkeys throwing their shit at observers.
In the last 3 or 4 years, I couldn't make it half way through it before I deleted it.

518 Yeah...it's really not hard to stay out of Amazon's shadow, all that's necessary is ditching the mindset that buying stuff consists of going to one single bookmarked website, searching for the product name, and clicking the auto-buy button.

Losing Ebay was a lot more painful since it represents a huge chunk of the secondary market.

519
I've been clicking through a chain of articles about the Amazon working conditions.

The pee thing is a problem -- women (who can't pee in bottles so easily) getting UTIs from holding their pee constantly.

And then they told the story of one woman working in a warehouse and described what she did. She was a "stower", whose job was to take shit brought by robots and stack (stow) it on a rack. When the rack is filled, another robot comes and takes it away. (when someone places an order, a robot brings a rack containing that item to a "picker" who then gets it started for delivery.

She has to scan every item she stows, and she's expected to maintain a pace of 11 seconds per scan. If she didn't meet it, she would be "written up" and then fired if she didn't improve.

She destroyed her back doing that.

And in 2018, Amazon's "serious injury rate" was over twice the industry norm. 9.6 incidents per 100 workers vs the average of 4 per 100.

I didn't have either of them, but I did very well in college thank you, and so would hear from them from time to time for several years. I thought it was just the nicest, old-school, small town thing for real teachers to do, and hearing that someone was "proud of you" is just one of those things, when you're 20-ish and in a world of hurt.

I had not seen them in years, just presuming that they'd passed on. Today I saw her obit. But they aren't. And that tells you all you need to know about Big Media, and who they actually serve. Tool of the Oligarchs.

Reading former managers and others at various levels in the chain telling about how the system forces you to be a "ruthless, uncaring son of a bitch".

Another good one. Amazon puts safety rules out on how their pickers and stowers and others are supposed to properly lift packages and all that. However, it is impossible to meet the quotas all the time without breaking those rules.

Employee gets injured. Amazon can then determine he broke the rules and that's grounds for firing him and throwing him away.

The Left is trying to claim that a rise in seemingly random and senseless attacks on Asians out on the streets is the work of "white supremacists". Based on the suspects arrested for those attacks, most of those "white supremacists" apparently have very, very dark tans.

(though there was the recent attack involving the non-tanned white guy who attacked an older Asian woman seemingly at random... and got beaten up by her)

The recent sex addict mass shooter made things even worse. He conducted his shooting just after the white supremacist claim started getting promoted, and the majority of his victims happen to be Asian.

Depending what state they are in, getting Workers Compensation may be a windfall for employees who had no intention of staying there for any length of time . The worst WC claims to handle are the ones where the employee believes they've been screwed by their employer and are justified to extend the length of disability as much as they can. That sounds like every potential claim out of Amazon.

596 It's frustrating when I find something I want on Amazon and then I go to the company's website to buy it from them directly, but the website is sold out and stays sold out. It's like Amazon takes all their stock so you can only get the item from Amazon.

There is enough stuff here to make Amazon the most hated name in America. Amazon could be destroyed with the material that is out there. You'd think these anti-big corp lefty types would be jacking off all over themselves to be saturating the airwaves with it.

But they aren't. And that tells you all you need to know about Big Media, and who they actually serve. Tool of the Oligarchs.
---
So painfully and accurately true.

Where I live, I can order something from Amazon and get it delivered quickly. Last year a couple of orders were ordered in the very late night, I went to bed, and woke up to the orders on my porch.
A giant, new Amazon warehouse is about 5 miles from my house.
But a few months ago, I ordered a belt that was about 75% off and got it delivered in two days, it didn't fit, so I returned it and had the charge refunded to the card instead of the Amazon account credit they tried to push on me.
The interesting thing was that the return went to the UPS Store of my choosing, they sent me a Q scan by email, and I just showed it to the clerk when I returned it, who scanned it.
No paperwork at all. Too bad they suck so much at being human.

LOL, Ford was a genius. It's not so much, you can have any color you like so long as it's black (Hobson's choice), but you can have any car you can pay for, so long as it's Ford's, and it was.

Also GA GOP: We have to pass all of these new voter laws because the integrity of our elections is paramount.

Or alternatively..

The GOP is a useless pile of dogshit.
