Former DNI John Ratcliffe: I'm Not Saying UFOs Are Aliens, But They're Aliens

But...

It sure isn't crazy to believe in extraterrestrial visitations any longer.

A former top intelligence official raised expectations on Friday for a forthcoming U.S. government disclosure on what it knows about UFOs.

"There are a lot more sightings than have been made public," Ratcliffe said. "Some of those have been declassified. And when we talk about sightings, we are talking about objects that have seen by Navy or Air Force pilots, or have been picked up by satellite imagery that frankly engage in actions that are difficult to explain. Movements that are hard to replicate that we don't have the technology for. Or traveling at speeds that exceed the sound barrier without a sonic boom."
After saying that there have been sightings all around the world, Ratcliffe insisted that reports of "unidentified aerial phenomena" already in the public eye are only part of the bigger picture.
"When we talk about sightings, the other thing I will tell you is, it's not just a pilot or just a satellite, or some intelligence collection," Ratcliffe said. "Usually we have multiple sensors that are picking up these things, and ... some of these are unexplained phenomenon, and there is actually quite a few more than have been made public."

It's very weird that we have government officials essentially confirming that we've been visited by aliens -- or, at least, we have both eyewitness and radar reports of vehicles of a super-advanced nature that no one on earth could have built -- and the public is taking it with a huge yawn.

Remember when UFO believers would hypothesize that the government was covering up evidence of extraterrestrial contact because, if the public knew about it, we'd panic and go crazy?

Well, wrong on that, government. Apparently no one cares.

Supposedly there will be a large government disclosure about UFOs between now and June 1.

Like I said, I still don't believe this. I think it's going to turn out to just be some fluid-dynamics phenomenon caused in the air by high-speed jets or something. Like jet wings are causing little mobile whirlpools in the air that can then peel off from the wings and fly on their own before dissapating.

I'm sure they've looked into that kind of thing, though.

Still, my feeling is that aliens would not travel hundreds of thousands of light years just to dick around and buzz human pilots for shits and giggles.

Thought that is feeling more and more like a Crazy Conspiracy Theory. And I feel pressured to just accept "The Official Government Story" that these sightings are in fact of alien probes.

What are you guys thinking? Bullshit -- or not?

It's possible that either everything we know about physics is wrong or (more likely) there are vast chunks of it we don't understand, but the energy and time constraints sure seem to imply that it's all bullshit. "We've been visited by aliens" implies many things: that other life exists, that this other life is intelligent, that this other life figured out how to travel stellar distances in a reasonable time (or is essentially immortal), that this other life chose to pursue interstellar travel, that this other life found us in the sea of stars and that this other life was interested enough in us to come into our (expensive to escape) gravity well to take a closer look.

Occam has a problem with all those assumptions...

Exactly. Space is BIG, y'all. If there's a Galactic Confederation out there, unless a major outpost of it is very close to Sol, like Alpha Centauri or Sirius close, it is very unlikely they would have the time or resources to come check us out. Unless the aliens themselves and their confederation are both very very old and have been traveling in space for a very very long time.

That said, I love the idea. As long as the aliens are not like Larry Niven's kzinti, who "must have slaves or be barbarians roaming the forest for meat."

However, the speed at which some of the objects in the various videos are moving would preclude this as the phenomenon...the vortices could not gain more speed than the aircraft itself.

Earth is valuable, yes, but it's probably not the only such planet in the galaxy. The aliens would deal with close-by worlds first, the ones they could get to easily (given effective star travel of some kind). If they're here, the odds are their home is fairly close by -- or they've been traveling around space since before Homo erectus first used an antelope's thigh bone as a weapon.

Like I read somewhere - though I can't remember where - that the Navy pilot who supposedly saw the "capsule" was mocked when he came back to his carrier. Like the sailors played X-Files theme over some PA or something. I suspect because it's CLEARLY an equipment malfunction, and they thought it was bullshit that he thought it was some kind of UFO.

The problem is, they can't really disclose "Oh here's how our top secret sensor equipment breaks" so it ends up being this weird dance where the people in charge of the sensors have to act like they're 100%, when of course they're not. They're not magic, they're made with parts that sometimes fail and software that sometimes has bugs.

But then the people in charge of those people are fucking idiots--err, I mean, TOP MEN who aren't like "yeah, I getcha, UFO, wink" and are instead like "WHAAAAT??? OH MY GOD" probably to the chagrin and dismay of the people who are trying to be like, "When I say 'It's not a malfunction' and stomp my foot three times..."

And what if it is? Can we be certain they are aware of US?

Apparently there's no correlation to events here or countries or anything that would seem to be useful for an advanced civilization to spend all that time and energy on.

This may be why the Gov is willing to speak about it as there is no or little evidence that they represent a security threat of any sort.

The Universe is a big place and who knows what these phenomenon could be or are. We may learn more as we begin living in space with more than just a few people.

I'd like some evidence of alien life (even a bacterium or whatever) before I am ready to acknowledge that organic life isn't a one-off. That said, the law of averages likely plays into this as well. You could assume that we're exceptional (either high or low), but the better bet is that we're average. If that's the case, then most species out there are probably about as old as us, about as smart as us, about as advanced as us. There are, of course, long tails but anything out there that is say, a couple of standard deviations further along will be extraordinarily small in relative number. That combined with the scale of the universe makes it intensely unlikely that they pop in to visit from time to time.

My brother believes this more or less. He thinks that the Devil is stuck on Earth and as you move away his influence weakens. As an example he notes the profound feelings of universal brotherhood the Apollo astronauts experienced just getting as far away as the Moon.

As scary and completely unexplainable as it was, I'm 90% convinced this thing was from our buddies down in the valley.

There was a series of books by a guy names L.A. Marzuli and his theory is that when the antichrist come, it will be in the form of an extraterrestrial to deceive us.

I was convinced it was a flaming 737.

Weeks went by, and I found myself on the same road at night. To my surprise, the fireball reappeared. This time, I backtracked to a different road where trees would be less dense. I discovered a new road, leading to a new housing development. At the top of the cul-de-sac there was a single street light, glowing bright orange as the new mercury vapor lights did. Derp moment.

X-files, even though I never cared for it much, had a better flow because of the two leads and better developed story lines. McGavin had to carry the show, more or less, on his own--at the time though, networks often did short and dirty replacement series to simply get through the year when a supposed hit flopped in a time slot.

479 I read the books recently; the first one is what the first movie was based on; the second book is based on the second movie, and because of that is a better book: Matheson is a better writer than Rice.

Matheson actually played a bit with Kolchak’s really bad journalism in the second movie. There’s a point where he has Kolchak completely miss something obvious about a witness description. The police, who are professionals, don’t miss it.

He has the Louise Harper character point out that Vincenzo actually cares about Kolchak and Kolchak’s just being a jerk. Vincenzo was interesting because, at least in the movies, he didn’t care whether Kolchak’s theories were true. Only whether the facts could be verified or corroborated.

But Matheson also brings in another character from the first movie besides Vincenzo, Dr. Kirsten Helms. She, like Kolchak, sees the weird patterns. But she’s smart enough to realize that other people aren’t evil for not seeing them.

This gets really touchy though, when we get into cause and effect, free will and all that stuff. It's so complex and there are so many twists, it's just not possible to say this guy or that guy turned out how he did because of this and that.

But I think it's basically true to say, except for when something goes wrong before birth, which isn't all that often, really, people become evil when they do, because of what happens after they're born.

Often in the first few years of life, so the imprint almost... ALMOST seems like it's genetic.

I'm always a bit creeped out by murder mystery fiction from cultures that are super-disarmed like the UK or Japan... there is this "oh well, that's unfortunate" sort of blah attitude about murder as if it's some sort of traffic accident. Whereas in the US, many of the plotlines would be resolved about 25% into the story with "and then he blasted the murderer. Fin."

Same sorta dynamic with zombie movies, except with murder mysteries you don't have near as much suspension of disbelief so it's more apparent.

I think a lot of the horde isn't familiar with the Navy footage that has come out over the last few years. We're not talking about weird reflections or sensor effects.

I argued that traveling back in time to kill Hitler as a child was stupid, because we had no idea if someone worse would have risen up in Germany (Heydrich would be my nightmare. He had the same evil and hatred in his soul, but honed with efficiency and skill far beyond the mustached one. Not to mention that having Hitlerite Germany where it was prevented Stalin from eventually enslaving Europe.

My 'daughter' by marriage was adopted by my wife when M. was 8 yrs old. Pulled her out of a white inner city ghetto and a sure life of misery to live with my now wife. A expert in early childhood development and a saintly woman who did all she could to make sure M. graduated from HS, was prepared for college, and was brought up 'right'.

Phillip K Dick planned a sequel to "The Man in the High Castle" wherein the post-Hitler Germans led by Heydrich went to war with the Japanese, with North America as a major battleground.

He started it many times but never finished it and the stories always evolved into something else (his stories that begin with disaster on the Pacific coast, usually bombings, were aborted attempts). He discussed why he never followed it up and said that having to get into Heydrich's head space to understand his character motivations was so terrifying and unsettling that he couldn't bring himself to do it.

Probably the stoner kids next door pulling a prank. They know I'm good-natured. But a close examination revealed they had not walked back in their own footsteps. The tread marks were clean, and that was fresh snow. And no, my buddy who saw it first didn't do it. We had walked in together and he was three sheets to the wind. Plus, I checked his boot treads.

Never have figured that one out. I think somebody got beamed up.

Along with a bunch of UFO stuff, I used to read him as a teenager. He mostly just cataloged “stuff”. This is weird, that’s weird, this other thing is weird, too.

In one of this books, probably the fourth or fifth, he has a photograph of a mesoamerican carving that is, literally, an astronaut carrying a record. It is the most alien-looking thing in any of his books. Despite it’s strangeness, however, there is literally no other explanation for this photo: it’s an astronaut, carrying a record.

He says, yeah, I got this photo from someone, can’t find the original now, it’s stuck in the Vatican (or something like that). Then moves on to perfect spheres in the Himalayas or some other crap.

Dude has absolute proof of ancient astronauts and instead of doing everything he can to find the original, he just moves on to round rocks. At that point, I knew he didn’t believe what he was writing.

Years later I could google that photo. See link in nic for what it actually was; it really was alien to the mind of a seventies teen: it was Russian rock music art.

Without explaining some stuff you have two unconnected sentences there. Both being in heaven at any point does not make them brothers in any sense, at least within the Christian view of God, Jesus and Heaven.

Jesus, the son, is one part of the trinity and God. Jesus, the man, is God with us on earth. Satan is an angel, fallen though, and a different class entirely of celestial being from God in any Christian aspect of that word.

Look at the video that was released a few years back, the "object" the see flying around looks 100% like a fly that got caught on the fighter planes camera, and it's movement it's almost straight side to side or up and down, which corresponds to the pilots head movement, which in these jets controls the camera. Every "advanced lifeform ship" just looks like a blob or a box.

Unless they showed proof thats more than low res grainy photos of shapes and shadows (as the ability of cameras today is amazing) I'll believe they're only further trying to get people to chase this in hopes they ignore something else.

I think most conspiracy theories involving governments gain much of their plausibility from the entirely rational background assumption that there's nothing a government wouldn't do and nothing they wouldn't cover up for reasons of their own. If you assume any government source is lying to start with you're probably closer to the truth than you'd get by believing them.

So government sources are more willing lately to give credence to UFO theories. The reason is not because the theories are any better than they've ever been. The thing to ask is, what has changed to cause the government to see advantage in switching their longstanding position? Distractions from the shit show going on and the even more appalling fantasies being entertained by the ruling class are very welcome right now. This one costs nothing. 688 Pilot Kenneth Arnold, who reported "flying saucers" in 1947, actually said they "flew like a saucer would through water"... oscillating. Their SHAPE was as a crescent or triangle. A reporter screwed up his report to read that they were saucer-SHAPED. So my theory is that saucer-shaped UFOs are fakes, but the triangle/crescent ones may not be. BTW, there are many sightings with dozens of witnesses and simultaneous visual ground, airborne, and radar witnesses.

These encounters are real, people.
As to physics, read the recent book 'We Have No Idea'. An easy read for most. We have several subatomic particles, seen by atom smashing experiments, who's purpose in the universe is totally unknown to us.

691 I believe it. I didn't until about 2 years ago. Joe Rogan has had some good guests discussing UFO's that convinced me of it. I believe the whole universe is connected and these aliens are our spiritual brothers. It will make sense when we die.

Of course there are aliens - how else do you explain AOC, Maxine Waters, Rashida Tlaib, Nasty Pelosi, etc? Hopefully, the aliens are coming to pick up their defective creations, and not to deposit new, improved

696 Another thought: It is much more plausible to me that the UFOs seen in the last decade are the creation of another government besides the USA - like China, Russia, or Iran. That seems more believable & scary to me than beings from another planet/galaxy.
