New York's "vaccine czar" -- a longtime adviser to Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo -- phoned county officials in the past two weeks in attempts to gauge their loyalty to the embattled governor amid an ongoing sexual harassment investigation, according to multiple officials.
One Democratic county executive was so unsettled by the outreach from Larry Schwartz, head of the state's vaccine rollout, that the executive on Friday filed notice of an impending ethics complaint with the public integrity unit of the state Attorney General's office, the official told The Post. The executive feared that the county's vaccine supply could suffer if Schwartz was not pleased with the executive's response to his questions about support of the governor.
"At best, it was inappropriate," said the executive, who spoke on the condition of anonymity out of fear that the Cuomo administration would retaliate against the county's residents. "At worst, it was clearly over the ethical line."

Well, I've been pointing it out since the beginning. National politicians may be involved, I don't know. But the Cuomo dynasty has stepped on a lot of toes in the last half century, and I think this is a hit job by other factions working together in NY. I think Sheldon Silver is most likely the main driver behind this, after Cuomo went on a rant about the "Orthodox community" after Trump unexplainedly pardoned him, despite being convicted of taking millions of dollars in bribes.

Nah. Not to put to fine a point on it, but in NY, the politics basically break down on ethnic lines. The Italians and the Jews have been fighting for power in the last 30 or so years, and both have variously allied with different ethnic groups.

Mario Cuomo was THE king maker in NY for a long time, but as his power waned, others of different ethnic groups filled the vacuum, and Andrew and his group wrestled the power back... I mean, look at Troopergate, when Andrew Cuomo was AG. It's all just a big power struggle, and we should just be rooting for injuries at this point, TBH.

Civil Rights Act of 1964 changed that forever. Before then, your statement could have been seen as constitutional. After the CRA of 1964, it was established in law, and upheld by the Supreme Courts, that the Commerce Clause of the Constitution allows the Congress to impose any requirements on Private Businesses that they see fit. For instance, forbidding any business from serving Whites Only. For over 50 years now, Private business are NOT allowed to do "whatever they want", they are only allowed to do what the Congress permits them to do.

I took the JnJ shot a week ago last Saturday. The VA was open for all vets in the system. There were thousands in that line. So far, no negative results, and I'm ditching the face diaper in four days and a wake up.

Uh, no, we're still in the lead:

Once the recall campaign turns in its petitions, county election officials will have until April 29 to count how many registered voters signed and report their numbers to the secretary of state's office.

The state then has 10 days to tally the counties' results. If the recall campaign has qualified, it starts the signature withdrawal period, in which voters get 30 business days to let their local election officials know they'd like to remove their names from the petition. Voters are offered the chance regardless of whether the Newsom campaign tries to persuade them to do so.

Then, counties have 10 more business days to report the number of rescinded signatures back to the secretary of state. Assuming the recall is still eligible, the state Department of Finance gets 30 business days to estimate how much the election will cost, and the Joint Legislative Budget Committee has another 30 days to review the estimate.
