This is correct but ultimately the situation is too far gone. The balance of powers requires both sides to struggle against one another in competition, if one party abdicates on the grounds that power ought not to be used you arrive at where we are today.

Just to get a sense for our relationship, he was kind of bummed that he couldn't help more with moving the business into my new shop space. I told him to get better because I have an incoming shipment of boulders I'll need help with next week...
I'd appreciate some Horde prayers for him.

But as the media funders of the DNC rely on Big Pharma for their revenue, and as Big Pharma is loving the fuck out of these lockdowns, I was also open to the possibility that they would keep this going well into next year.

Steven Tyler really should retire from live shows at this point. I am a longtime fan of Aerosmith but there is a huge creepy factor in a 72 year old croaky voiced rock star singer about banging a strange girl in an elevator. Tyler and Perry both look like what the end effects of massive drug taking does to an aging body. Add in the stringy dyed long hair and oversized crowned teeth and the visual appeal is non existent.

I have a thought on Cuomo that might be completely obvious or already shared by other commenters. It seems to me that TPTB want the sexual harassment allegations to bring him down because, if that were the case, he will hang alone. Never seen them, but I hear they put on a terrific show. I've seen Sting and Pat Metheny a couple times, and a ton of blues acts like John Lee Hooker. Saw Steve Miller once, he puts on a great show. Watched The Waterboys who were way better than I expected. Their live stuff is a lot more energetic and rocked up.
Overall I have not seen many concerts, though. They're expensive, tiring, and loud. I was at a blues act (cannot remember the name) and he had everything turned up to 198, it was so painfully loud I couldn't stand to even be in the lobby.

to be clear, there are certain rock songs I like. I made a mix disc of some of my classic rock faves of the 80s and 90s on Napster. I could probably come up with a list of thirty songs I really like. But as a yute I never followed rock bands and I don't even follow country singers in this day and age. Basically I prefers 70s country above all, with some 80s. I think my favorite rock songs are 70s to 90s and that is about it.

Interesting and anecdotal. I'm in Texas 32nd Congressional District, represented by Rep. Colin Allred, D. Very much D. He posts/brags on Facebook whenever he signs or votes on bills. He is very much a party line hack. He usually gets thousands of 'Attaboy' and 'So glad you're my Rep' comments. He posted/bragged about the H.R.8 (background check). One negative comment, no positive comments and 36 heart emojis. The day is still young, though.

personal and not quite as bombastic. Then it feels more like the music
is the focus and the talent is more connected to the audience.

I've only been to a few concerts. I avoided them for a long time for the most part because I don't like crowds. But it turns out I like them quite a bit. I want to go to more, if our lords and masters decide we can have them again. When I'm at a concert, I'm kind of a Martian though. I just stand around and quietly take it in.

I'm actually fine with Shapiro. Not really a voice for radio, that's for sure, but a generation of young people gravitate toward him, so I consider him to be the gateway drug to conservatism for that cohort. As he's the only one that is providing a platform for Gina Carano, I appreciate his efforts to set up an alternate ecosystem as well. Until someone more to my leanings does so as well, I'm not going to harsh on him too much. Caveat emptor, however.

I see the Texas Rangers will be allowing full capacity this season at the brand new stadium with a mask requirement...ummm have they thought that through? I know the new place is supposed to have more shade and a retractable roof, but holy cow it could get to 120 degrees at the old globe life park. We usually had to take our kids to the cooling tents at the stadium at least once. I can't imagine having to sit wearing a mask in that kind of heat.

I was the same way, mostly because when I was "that age", you had to go to the venue to get tickets. I had a good friend who was crazy enough to do it, so I went to whatever she was willing to give up half a day to stand in line for.

Halfway through the concert he sent the rest of the band off for a break and he sat on the edge of the stage with his guitar and sang his heart out. He had an absolutely pure voice that was beautiful to hear. It was nothing that could be captured by any recording I ever heard. He was AMAZING in person.
It was actually kind of disappointing when the rest of the band came back.
And THAT would be the only reason I would go to another concert. To hear someone who is better in person. I don't know of any other person who is. Elton John sure wasn't.

Worst show I ever saw was a Jerry Garcia Band show (actually 2 of them) where Jerry OD'd.
That would be terrible to see. Jerry Garcia was a messed up person but dang could he play and sing. I liked his solo stuff even better than his Grateful Dead work.
The Dead is a big mix, some of it is just awful and some is timeless. Everyone thinks of them as being hippie stoner rock (which it kind of is) but they're more roots/bluegrass influenced. I could see Allison Krauss singing some of their stuff.
I know the live shows were supposed to be where its at but I think that's mostly because everyone was stoned out of their mind at the time. Listening to a 45 minute meandering version of Casey Jones does not appeal.

Spent $20 in total.
Lawn seats, but didnt matter too much, you can sneak into the pavilions at these places.

Not a concert pre ce, but the last thing my dad and I did together was see a Bob Hope show. Hope was doing a college campus tour in the early 70's. He came to my Uni for dad's weekend. He was absolutely awesome! The ol man said the last time he'd seen Hope in person was in the South Pacific during the war. We had fun.

I haven't been to many concerts. But of the ones I have attended, John Denver's was, hands down, the best.
John Denver was kind of an annoying person but he was a huge talent with an astounding voice. And honestly, he wasn't so much annoying personally (he seemed like one of those kermit the frog gentle well-meaning hippies) but because of the persona that built up around him with the far out, live in a commune in the Rockies, hug the trees crap.
And obviously he was not country musician of the year (hat tip Farva) but damn he was good at what he did.

I went to see Steve Miller in '97 when his band appeared at Red Rocks Park outside Denver. An outdoor venue, in summer? Something I'd never have even considered in Da Swamp, but in CO at 5K feet, the air was dry. Plus the sun had gone beyond the hills by the time the show started. Good stuff.

There were a whole host of issues facing the Monarchy in France but first and foremost was that the state was bankrupt. The 7 Years War and the subsequent French support for the American Revolution and the losses sustained by France destroyed what was left of French fiscal policies and necessitated the calling of the Estates. 323 Halfway through the concert he sent the rest of the band off for a break and he sat on the edge of the stage with his guitar and sang his heart out. He had an absolutely pure voice that was beautiful to hear. It was nothing that could be captured by any recording I ever heard. He was AMAZING in person.

I'm not disappointed in Shapiro as much because I never thought of him as more than conservative-lite to attract the non-conservative, much like Joel Osteen for non-Christians. Shapiro has a particular lane, and it's best that he stay in it.
Osteen doesn't really teach Christianity at any level, but I get what you mean. Crowder is in the same category: he connects well with younger people, especially college kids. And that's good, as far as it goes.
Oddly enough I thought that Glenn Beck kinda did that for people, he was Conservative 101, then went... nuts.

Best I saw was the Dirt Band in Calgary, before they dropped the Nitty Gritty.
Worst, Rod Stewart in Edmonton, he was so hammered I was too embarrassed for him to stay longer than 30 minutes.

Having read another Jefferson biography, it occurred to me part of the reason France had its revolution was because the US owed money to it and was unable to pay, because we were broke at the time.

Agreed. My favorites shows have been at places like the Orpheum or State Theater. Put a band in a place built for sound, and they'll sound good. Put them in a place built for sports, and they'll... sport good?

The best performers I saw regularly were Hank JR. and Alabama. Hank would riff like crazy and go way outside of country at times. He loved to grab the bongo drums but it is what it is.
The one concert I attended that I was a bit let down by was The Highwaymen. Sure they were old, hell, two of them are dead now. But those guys were legends. I distinctly recall Willie phoning it in that night. Still it was great seeing those guys playing live.

When I saw John Lee Hooker, dude looked 12300 years old. he sat on a chair and sang just a little, played that guitar like a genius, but everyone around him sang more and played more. He was giving it his all but damn you could tell he was one foot in the grave. Still was a good show.
There was a local Portland act called the Blubinos I saw several times. Great band, really tight, and the lead singer was not just amazing on the guitar but had a great stage presence and wrote funny, interesting songs.
But he was a huge ass, a completely insufferable personality who ruined himself over and over. If you've ever seen The Mambo Kings, you know what I'm talking about. They could have been big time but for the guy's constant self destructive stupidity.

I did see Christian McBride at Carnegie Hall, when he played bass for Sonny Rollins for the' 50th Anniversary of his Carnegie debut. Took my girlfriend, whom I ended up marrying later.
Definitely Top 3 Concert material.
