"Pro-Life Evangelicals for Biden" Shocked, Stunned to Discover That Joe Biden is Pro-Abortion

I don't believe them. I believe they're actually leftish pro-abortion pastors themselves, but pretend for purposes of keeping their jobs.

All of these people -- from these idiots to David French -- pretended that Joe Biden was a "centrist moderate with conservative tendencies" knowing full well that he was actually a more leftwing Senator than Obama had been (according to their votes in the Senate).

They're just grifters -- and liars, deceiving their dwindling number of conservative followers into voting against their own interests and electing Democrats.

I don't believe any of these people were "deceived." I think this is just a necessary new deception on their parts, as the lies they told pre-election are now revealed and they have to come up with a cover story. "I didn't lie to you," they now preach. "Biden lied to me!"

Sure, sure.

Actually, he didn't really campaign on that at all. He was very equivocal (well his campaign was) trying to have both sides and being unclear. His official campaign website didn't really say one way or another, and depending on what crowd he talked to, he would change the message. Or his speech maker of the day would, stand ins for him.

But it doesn't really matter. Trump won the popular and electoral college votes, both. These fools were insignificant and meaningless in the election.

I don't know why people keep thinking "Do whatever you want, none of it matters as long as you think you're a good person" is some kind of viable way forward for a religion.

The religions that have lasted are fairly repressive towards animalistic desires. People don't run to religion for affirmation that what they're doing is just fine and dandy when they can just hang out with some dudes who feel the same sense of satisfaction coming out of a brothel.

I studied their stuff a while out of curiosity, and listened to a few talks. It was interesting but not reasonable or feasible, even if they made a few good arguments. Certainly we could do better with a reboot of our legal system but I'm not convinced that's the best course.

I do not get these people. If you believe the Bible the Jesus is God, but if you believe He is wrong then He either can't be God or God is not omniscient and infallible. Why would you want to worship a God that is like that?

Then again, the Roman and Greek gods were all like that I guess and worship there was just about avoiding the god's wrath, rather than love. But plenty of what they are pushing for is spelled out in the "Don't do this" Commandments.

So just invent a new god to be what you want. It won't end any different than pretending to worship the one of the Bible while ignoring everything He says in it.

I agree. I fear that most people who go to those churches are Christian in culture only. They don't have a faith relationship with God, they just like the Jesus thing and the songs and moralistic sermons about how they are wonderful people but we all need to do more to help the homeless.

A study was done of church membership in the 80s-2000s and it was discovered that no matter how many of these megachurches were built, overall church attendence kept declining. It was just a migration thing: people went to Megachurch 1 for a while, then moved to Megachurch 2 when it opened. The numbers seemed large, but weren't representing an overall increase in attendance by the population.

Report from my HEB.

Walked in without a mask. A nice young woman offered me one. I declined, she did not press the matter. Saw one other person without a mask, an elderly lady. Saw one gentleman who appeared to have exited without a mask just prior to my arrive.

Some surprised looks from other shoppers but that was it. I suspect that many of them are not "leaders" once more people go maskless, more people will go maskless.

I have embraced the mask mandate. Anytime I walk out of the house now (unless I am exercising), I wear a mask. I also wear dark glasses and a baseball cap. Why? Mask + dark glasses + hat = 99% failure of facial recognition software. It is one way of foiling the incipient totalitarian regime with their ubiquitous surveillance devices.

And no, this is not satire.

I call them "the institutional churches", and imo the more top down they become (usually with size) ... the more corrupt institution like they become. Try to correct damaging doctrine (from within or without) and their "top men" will likely try to cancel your ass. ... But the church people make up the life of different churches ... local groups can still be very good (I guess, I don't join, too much doctrinal overhead for me to ignore).

It's probably just a quirk of his personality - he's prudish, weak, petty, status anxious, passive aggressive and judgmental. So he's mistaken his own shitty personality for a caricature of a belief system, and in turn misused the belief system to satisfy the needs of his shitty personality. He punches right because to punch left for the sake of his stated moral convictions would be to encounter real resistance and risk to himself. I would say it depends on who the Methodists are and what they believe. There is a move towards a new worldwide Methodist denomination-which is a more conservative branch, and anyway, as with most mainline denominations individual churches vary.

531 I'm a transplant from CA to MA. First surprise was how much of the state you can cover in an hour. You can't go wrong with Concord and the Old North Bridge. There are several sites along Route 2A -- from the bridge to the visitor's center, which gives a nice overview of the first battles of the Rev War. There's a boat house a bit further up the river from the bridge, where we rent canoes or kayaks and paddle down to the bridge for lunch and to walk around. Makes for a nice summer day. And there are a couple small restaurants nearby if you're hungry.

Boston isn't far away, really. And traffic these days is pretty light. Super-walkable near the waterfront -- the aquarium, Faneuil Hall's a bit tourist-trappy, North Church, etc. If the Sox are playing, come in a Yankees cap and see how friendly the locals are.

They are one of the most left-leaning churches you can think of, but when Scripture is read the reader finishes by saying "The Word of the Lord" and the congregation responds "Thanks be to God." For an Evangelical church to say that the Bible is NOT the Word of God pretty much disqualifies them from legitimately calling themselves an Evangelical church.
