I hate this wording in the article: "citing declining hospitalizations across the state as more people are vaccinated against the coronavirus."
Hospital numbers are not declining because of vaccinations. They are declining for the same reason they declined last spring, and they were declining again in the Upper Midwest through late November to the present, before the virus came out: Because this virus, LIKE ALL VIRUSES EVER, is seasonal. It comes and goes, and your masks and your cowering in your basement, and your OCD handwashing, and your abandoning Grandma to die alone doesn't make one bit of difference. The virus is going to do what the virus is going to do. Now, I do think the vaccine will eventually help, but it isn't really driving the current downward trend. That's just seasonal. There are two massive restaurants/taverns under construction near me in Morris County. They should be finished by the beginning of summer. If states start opening up in the NE then the restaurant industry will not be able to keep up with the demand as people emerge from lockdowns and mob every attraction you can shove a person into. I have friends who haven't eaten out at a restaurant or diner for a solid year. So they are like a loaded spring just waiting for the opportunity. Generally, Abbott drafts his executive orders to override local city/county ordinances, and he'll probably do so here as well since otherwise the prog tyrants in the big cities will make it pretty pointless for him to lift the state mask mandate and lockdown orders.
But the mega-corporations will likely act in place of the prog tyrants and impose mask requirements on whomever they can (employees, customers, delivery guys, etc.), and Abbott is certainly not the type of Republican to have anything bad to say or do against the mega-corporations.
