Re-Education Camp Cafe: Baby Bunnies Edition

Woman wants to do yoga. Saint Bernard wants to be involved. (Silent.)

Kitten tries imitating what she sees humans doing when they drink through a straw. It looks like she's 80% of the way there -- but doesn't quite have it down.

Baby and husky puppy grow up together.

Giant bunny is almost the size of its toddler brother and sister.

Man coaxes six very small baby bunnies to come to him for pets. Very cute.

Rescuing a very, very small baby bunny from a hoarder. He's so cute I want to seize him by the face and make him feel frightened and isolated until he kisses me and then give the order to put highly contagious patients into nursing homes to infect the most at-risk population.

I know the profession barely exists now.

I know that there are no standards anymore.

But, still, at some point, someone looked at an audition by Brian "Potato" Stelter, and decided he should be on television. On a news channel. And that he should keep being on the news channel.

That's one possibility of many. But I think we should all be INCREDIBLY skeptical of any out-of-left-field claims like this by our MSM. They are not to be trusted, and anytime the entire MSM jumps on a story, we should sit back and say "hmmm... why would this be the narrative they choose to push?" and be very wary of whatever they are telling us.

Thanks Drc, for giving a straight answer to my half-flip comment. Public apathy about everything from Election Night 2020 to actual genocide is the long term result of having a communications industry that's so wedded to a team identity that truth is presumed to be absent. To be honest I feel that the only reason we know about Xinjiang in the first place, is that a lot of people who don't work for a major news service have done their own sleuthing and posted the results online. It's gotten to the point where I'll trust something by an online blogger first, before the "news" media gets anywhere near it.

91 That's one possibility of many.

I can't believe my opinion on this is even controversial on this blog.

A couple years ago I took my Airedale to a dog park where there was a Doberman and a Bernese puppy just a little fluffball. Teddy and the Doberman started roughhousing immediately and the puppy knew he was too small to hang but was watching them and jumping in place with excitement. Fully grown he'd fit right in. Nice dogs.

I'm saying that if the MSM are all pushing a very dubious story with minimal proof, that we should be very cautious of buying it. We know they operate based on pushing narratives and trying to convince the more gullible among us to believe things that are not true, and that the truth has very little place in our media.

So we need to step back and say "why would our media say this, especially in lockstep? What is their agenda?"

And as I've said many times, I have been to China. It's a weird, dirty place, where you feel like you're being spied on all the time by everyone.

That has literally nothing to do with my argument that we can't trust what our media says and should be very suspicious of why this "genocide in Xinjiang" is their new narrative. If you don't find that suspicious, then I suspect that you may be the one who is dense.

Exactly.

For example -- one of my (distant) cousins who I keep in touch with is from Ireland. Based on CNN international the the Irish media, she believes our country was run for 4 years by an unpopular Nazi who stole an election with the help of Putin and the Russians, then was resoundly defeated in a landslide victory for Joe Biden. However, a group of white supremacists tried to overthrow our government to re-instate the 21st century American version of Hitler.

And nothing I can say can convince her otherwise. Because that's what her media has been saying for years.

So how do I reconcile that with the idea that maybe I have very little way of knowing the truth about what is actually happening in foreign countries and should maybe be a bit suspicious of what the media says, since they aren't always accurate in their reporting on issues?

I honestly don't know what the end goal is here, but I trust that whatever it is, it isn't what it seems like.

I don't think the MSM is pushing for war with China, that would seem very counter intuitive based on what we know about our political class and their close connections with China.

So it could be some kind of "Biden is tough on China, see, he stopped the genocide of Uighers which Trump never did!" narrative that's being spun up. Or it could be something else entirely. Yup. On a positive, living in Mexifornia lard is in all the stores. Flakey pie crust, so good. I remember the old Crisco ads that were touting the main reason you'd want to buy the shit was it's healthier.

I really miss fries cooked in tallow. If you ever have one, all those memories of how incredible French fries used to be comes flooding back. Maybe I'll live long enough to see them finally admitting they were wrong and letting people cook with the shit again. Imagine, Kentucky Fried Chicken that tastes like KFC.

165 "So it could be some kind of "Biden is tough on China, see, he stopped the genocide of Uighers which Trump never did!"

The media are desperate for exactly that narrative. They need to distract from the fact The Fraud is compromised and selling out our country on every front. The Chinese will use the Uighurs or some other small ball device as a diversion. That coats them nothing in their March upon our country. They don't give a shit about what the world thinks of their human rights. In fact they see it as a meaningless bargaining chip. What they want is power, chaos and conquest. Stopping their genocide doesn't slow that down at all. We should be pulling up on those South China sea atolls and pissing on them. Better yet, we should be down in South America using their bases for mortar practice. But here we are being tough on their abuse of the Uighur while they steal Our jobs, ruin our economy with bio weapons and preposition forces towards an attack on our country. Fucking idiots.

Rabbits are dumb. The fact that they continue to come into my fenced yard with two dogs running out multiple times a day to have their babies proves it. All their attempts last year failed and I had to get rid of dead baby rabbits. One day they were so hellbent on it that they were coming into the yard while the dogs were still outside.

177 I have no doubts that China is asshoe when it comes to the Uighers. They are asshoe enough to their own, ethnically "perfect" people. You ought to realize that their term for white folks is kai dai, which translates as "white devil." They really have no regard for any individual, and never, as a culture, have. The notion of the sovereignty of the individual is based upon the Judeo-Christian understanding the uniqueness of one's soul. This is not something that comes from any notion of reincarnation, or atheism, or any other not-Judeo-Christian system. China doesn't care who lives or dies, or how they live or how they die. All threats foreign and domestic. And they should all hang from the same tree.

The Chinese are not out friends, nor do they have friendly intent. I've been around these situations long enough to know that. But the Chinese would not have a chance if people in Washington like The afraid and Thief and his fellow travelers took the threat seriously. They are not and their motive is both financial and treasonous.

Now I've been to a China and studied them. I've studied their military strategy. I've seen their corporate espionage first hand- even some of their academic espionage. They are operating on all cylinders to destroy our country. Anybody watching them match across the globe militarily or conquering one economic sector at a time knows their intent is not good. There isn't a single factor in that column anymore. What I am stating is fact.

The investment property townhouse I just sold, and lived in for a year? It was right next to the largest rabbit rescue in the county if not SF Bay Area. It started out pretty nondescript, just a tent with a few cages. But then they got a really big tent, and I was informed there was about 200 rabbits. Ok, still not too bad. (the townhouse complex surrounded a home with about 1/4 acre - the people wouldn't sell). But then fall of 2019 the caterpillars came in. I assumed they were putting in a pool. Nope, they were leveling the ground for 3 more tents. So, about 1k rabbits. Suddenly, rats were playing in my backyard, and roaches everywhere. The smell? I didn't want to stick around until summer to find out, after the first few 70 degree days we had. The city zoned their home just for them. Awesome. And the HOA wouldn't admit that was the problem with the sudden explosion of vermin, just saying to clean your BBQ grill, don't leave garbage outdoors... Yuck.

Agreed. But ultimately, I believe that their culture and political system wouldn't allow them to defeat us, if our own aristocratic class weren't so hellbent on power and money that they had any qualms about selling us out and fucking us over.

There is a reason they have a very ... unimpressive history for their age as a tribe and culture. But they have found that just throwing money at our corrupt ruling classes in the west is much preferable then military or diplomatic actions. Which, I agree, is a huge problem. But I view it more as an internal problem then as an external problem.

230 Jeebus. One of the last official acts of note in the outgoing Trump State Dept. was to adopt the assessment, and publicly level the charge, that the Chinese regime was committing genocide and crimes against humanity in Xinjiang. This was not some casual or tactical or poorly considered move.

This topic has been well researched and discussed in serious circles for years. There are multiple reports by independent outfits including many who were able to smuggle out imagery and first-hand detailed accounts. The press in some countries, including Australia, has not ignored this stuff, but has reported it, causing major heartburn for the Chinese thugs, who have screamed in displeasure. For years, now.

Let's have more illiterate idiocy about Biden or any of his lightweights and idiots being "warmongers" as opposed to clueless dishonest seasonal pacifists who have (wrongly) opposed and then undercut every use of force by the US since the 80s, except of course for the one indefensible chapter, the Balkans. That's more humorous, at least.

232 My old Polish landlady was a guest of the Third Reich as a kid. She and her family were in that strange category of forced, but paid, labor. Paid with some kind of script, but paid. She would tell really interesting stories, and one was about bread and lard. Herr Direktor always made sure their bread ration was up to snuff, and they had lard as the krauts were using it for machine lube. One of the few things they were allowed to buy with the script was casings (intestines). They used to make a lot of bread crumb, lard, cabbage, and onion kiska.

I love cast iron, for daily still prefer really well broken in stainless. But at least there's lots of USA made cast iron, for cheap. While Lodge isn't what it used to be, it's passable. But stepping up just a bit - you can buy some that's every bit as good as Great Grandma's stuff. Field Company, Smithey and Borough Furnace make incredible stuff. The latter 2 are works of art. Not cheap, but your great Grandchildren will be fighting over them.

Absolutely. They are doing their damndest to cash in their chips before they start getting bit in the ass by their own stupid policies. What frustrates me is that if we take care of business here at home (fostering business friendly environments, balancing the government books at ALL levels, having schools and universities actually EDUCATE people, buildup the military as appropriate and use better judgment about where we go with them, etc), sure, China will still be a threat, but we will be much better equipped to deal with them. that's why I'm not too concerned about China's future prospects.

I have been utterly blown away by the business people I've met in China and how non innovative they are. It's astounding. Their culture suppresses people who think differently, which is, after all, what leads to innovation. They're not even that competent at copying other cultures. They can do, at best, cheap knock offs.

I don't see how that is a long term plan for success.

Maybe I'm wrong, but, again, I suspect that explains why in the thousands of years they've existed as a unique culture they have not had a whole lot to add.

Oddly enough, this is why they needed a lot of their old people to die sooner rather than later. Turns out that when two families have one grandson between them, to look after them in their old age, they very much *don't* consider him expendable.

Posted by: Duke Lowell at March 02, 2021 08:38 PM (kTF2Z)

I think you should reread my comments. I have not defended China once. Frankly, at the risk of sounding racist, I'm not a huge fan of the Chinese culture at all.

But I do not trust our media, and am suspicious any time they try to push their narratives on me. Our media always has an agenda for any story they push, especially en masse.

As you said upthread, it's possible to hold more then one idea at once.

I think that the Chinese culture and their government suck, and that they have historically been pretty blood thirsty people.

I also think that our MSM is not to be trusted, and we should question their narratives and not buy in to them. I think China is the McGuffin in this situation and that our media is trying to lead people to certain beliefs, which is enough for me to say "why would they want me to think that? What is their real agenda here?"

Well, to be fair they added a great deal until about 500 years ago or so. But I look at it like this: they ARE a threat, and they got tremendous upside. BUT they also have tremendous downsides. (Another one of those being that I don't think there are many neighbors who care for them all that much.) So, while we shouldn't go Chicken Little about China, we DO need to be on guard, and if this means we have to step up our game a little bit and go back to the Cold War containment playbook, so be it. And the existence of China should cause us to redouble our efforts to become a serious country (yeah, I know, the last election, stop laughing at me). For instance, people love to shriek about how many Treasuries China has. To me: why is that bad and the rest of our debt OK? Let's balance the books and pay off the debt. Problem solved. But people don't want to do that because that aming other things requires America to be a serious country.

434 TB, and other lovely pathogens. In the last 10 years it's become common for adults to get the DPT booster, instead of just the DT (as was the norm, forever) - because the "P" has come back, thanks to no border. Pertussis. Used to be that adults would get tetanus-diphtheria shot only.

Diseases long essentially eradicated became common in parts of the country starting in the early 2000s. IT'S A GIGANTIC MYSTERY HOW THIS HAPPENED.

Still recall one of the last WSJ articles I read, years ago, front-page item about some disease returning to the US (forget which). Hook was the story of a nurse from TN who volunteered in Africa every year for a week or something, she returned that time with a serious disease.

Article - about 17 paragraphs in, on the jump page - kind of mumbled (from memory here) "most of the resurgent disease areas are border states". IT'S A GIGANTIC MYSTERY WHAT'S GOING ON HERE. Myth, bigotry, distortion, and fabrication have now almost entirely crowded out information and truth in America's public square. Sickening.

The key thing was all the color and drama about her particular tale, then the discussion of disease "come-backs" in the US generally, then ...... the mumbled aside about border states being the focus of the trend.

Sort of vindicating our old "rules for reading the Post or the Times" back in DC, decades ago: ignore the headline, read from the bottom up, disregard all but named sources.
