Re-Education Camp Cafe: Ibex Cliff-Racing Club Edition

Good-natured Saint Bernard allows a baby goat to climb up and down it like a furry mountain. At 1:12, the goat jumps from one Saint Bernard to another. At 1:55, he starts jumping on the Saint Bernard's head.

Bunny and beagle are friends.

Sickly, emaciated horse is nursed back to health, and becomes surrogate mom to rescued donkey.

A miniature horse and goose are stable-mates and inseparable friends. I've linked this one before but it's cute.

Sure-footed ibex and her kid climbs and impossibly-steep dam. A little hard to watch, because it's very scary and very vertigo-inducing.

Baby ibex races down a sheer cliff to escape a fox. Spoiler: he gets away.

Definitely not a bat. Also, definitely don't watch from 0:24 to about 1:00, because she shows the "bat flies" (tick-like parasites) she pulled off of him. What bat flies were doing on this baby not-bat, I don't know.

Also definitely not a bat stuffing its face full of banana.

Finally: enable the sound (turn off the muting, bottom right corner, the "X") to enjoy this more.

BTW, if you haven't seen the Starship test flight, it's worth watching. Go back before lift-off. The entire test flight takes about eight minutes, then there's about ten minutes after the flight worth watching.

They're starting to review the flight, as well as incorporating new angles from additional cameras .

LOL, the WH channel on YT forgot to turn off comments on Biden's "Virtual Event with House Democratic Caucus". Yes, far more down votes than up votes (57 up, 1k down), and the comments are hysterical. Who the F is in charge of their online stuff? It looks like goolag has to ride in to the rescue every time they do this stuff.

19 Crotchety Mode On

Does anyone understand this new trend in videos of ending them a millisecond after the punchline? Like you'll have a ten second video, the person will trip and fall and then the video ends while they're still in the air.

I don't get it. I mean I kind of get it. I think it might work for a very particular type of video. But they do it all the time now. It's like the hipster way to tell a joke.

Funny things have to breathe. I don't know where it started and it does nothing for me. It's just annoying. Like my time was wasted.

100 Another example of why Trump won. How does Biden, the most popular president ever have such shitty numbers in terms of followers and views on Twitter/YouTube?
Posted by: Political McGuffin at March 03, 2021 07:30 PM (1MFjD)

We see this play out over and over. Just like the massive crowds lining the streets as Trump made his way to CPAC. Biden can barely scrape together a dozen people to attend one of his conferences. Harris has 2 whole neighbors welcoming her home.

There were more downvotes on Trump's CPAC speech than watch all of Biden's videos combined. The numbers are truly abysmal. No, I can't believe this guy won by historic numbers, but can barely get a thousand views on YT. I'd even wager that 90% of the views are Trump supporters.

Aaand, right on cue goolag has started throttling the downvotes, stopped comments and begun removing the especially funny ones. Communist Russia in a can.

I thought so too, but timing is the hardest thing to get right, and you can't have endless money creation without inflation. At some point, it must arrive. No man can say when.

Look at the Great Depression, which was caused by the creation of the Federal Reserve in 1913. At some point, they hewed to that same wisdom, that endless money creation was the key to endless prosperity. They created the Roaring 20's, and they created what came after.

They take getting ripped off seriously, and one cheater isn't going to stick around one casino. With their facial recognition software, they could tell you ever step anybody makes anywhere on the strip, inside or out. Hell, even the hallways at the hotel have cameras.

My guess is it's too much to even try faking, so they just destroyed all the thousands of hours of evidence instead. They were scrubbing hard from the second they got there.

So, I went on a little quest to check on Roman concrete and found out something new. I knew that the recipe that the romans used for sea construction had been lost for a long time and it was obviously fantastic (since a lot of it remains considering they have been gone for over 1500 years.)

The team that supposedly retro-developed the recipe said that when the Roman concrete is exposed to sea water- it gets stronger. The salt water reacts with the elements of the concrete, forming mineral deposits and sealing cracks. So unlike modern concrete where a crack is a loss of overall integrity, this is like the T-1000 and just reforms. At least when exposed to salt water.

Somebody got in there, killed him, and was shooting at the crowd (a diversion) while they attempted to assasinate the Saudi Crown Prince (who was in the same hotel).
The MGM Grand doesn't want the public to know it tolerated a big gun straw seller, because they could get sued for billions (literally), and the FBI doesn't want it out that they are so incompetent, which they are.

I also think there's some nuance in the TOC in that regard. On twatter, the individuals are responsible for their tweets, and can be banned for saying h8ful things as twatter moderates all comments. YT comments are from viewers, and goolag makes the channel responsible for moderating the content, or turning them off. This has become one of the ways they've banned channels as of late.

The current WH has forgotten to turn off comments on quite a few vids, hilarity ensues. The WH has less than 2M subs. That's beyond pathetic. A typical vid has maybe 60-70k views, mostly faked numbers I'd bet.

291 San Clemente Island has been a naval gunnery range for many decades - close to a century?

I think the goats were a result of some workers or contractors or supply ship or something. Vaguely recall they were effing up the local/limited eco situation, which is plausible. Knew someone who went out there with a nature group, forgot what they did there, but this person talked to contractors who said there was an effort to eliminate the goats.

More missile and electronic and other sorts of stuff goes on there now than artillery, I think. SEALs train there, too. Southern end of the island open to recreational boaters on many weekends. The website notices were always amusing. There were "zones" - below 100 ft (underwater), surface down to 100 ft, surface up to 500 feet, a few more up to higher altitudes. Only place in the world where recreational users are "restricted" below 100 feet deep, I'd guess.

Nah, I'm a bit over 6' 3" and frequently get asked if I can get something. It's weird, but it seems the items old people want are always out of reach. Hollywood has just come out with the new trailer for a Fully Operational SJW RetCon of Tom Clancy's novel "Without Remorse", which is supposed to be the origin story of John Clark.
https://tinyurl.com/Without-Remorse-RetCon
The main character is black, which I don't really mind all that much, but the story doesn't really follow the book that closely.
==========
I'm not surprised if the story got changed to something political. The original novel was a revenge story by a veteran on some scumbags that ended up with the man re-named "John Clark" taken in by the U.S. government, which wasn't going to let so useful a man rot in prison. BW the current version of the novel has the retcon AA character on the cover.

====
I wonder at the degree of incompetence involved. I've seen the MGM Grand last year, when I visited Las Vegas with friends. The hotel itself is a nice place, but it's difficult to see how an active shooter could light up a concert crowd with hundreds of rounds, and then escape before hotel security guided the police to his room door. (Police regularly patrol the resort areas, and a lobby phone call would bring multiple cars if necessary.) Even more difficult to see how he could pass through the hotel lobby to the clear grounds outside without either being recorded on video or remembered by eyewitnesses. There was an incident coverup, and the local police were told to play along.

There is a fire door leading down to them if built to code along with alarms to the local fire house.

Yup - learned my lesson - owned an attached two family in Brooklyn - no help on codes or what was legal.

Bought a house in a small town in NY and the town engineer, the code inspector, the fire marshal? I know them all and they are my neighbors...could not have renovated my house without them and they are lovely everyday schmoes you could have a beer with anytime.

Little LCD was regularly told by his mom to go pick up those big pine cones around the camping area on the eastern side of the Cascades. She liked to use them for decorations and the like around the house. Once he walked off too far (about 8 years old) and wife panicked. She yelled his name, and no answer.
Why, dear, he has the dog (3 year old black lab)?
She panicked and ran down a trail to find him. There were a few different trails. About 15 minutes later, the dog showed up in camp, Little LCD a couple of minutes later, following, from the other direction. Bag full of big pine cones.
Half hour later, wife shows up. No, I didn't tell her "I told you so." I may look dumb, but not that dumb.

Years ago, wife called and said youngest son and dog were missing and she had called the local fire department. We lived in a heavily treed area with reasonably sized lots. By the time I got home, having left work immediately, the fire crew guys were there having dropped off the boy and the dog. The crew chief said, "You know if the boy hadn't had the good sense to follow us to your house we would have had a problem because that dog was not about to let any of us anywhere near him!"
Damn I loved that dog.
