Malevolent Elf and Undercover Bug-Chaser Anthony Fauci: We May Be Returning to "Normality" by... 2022, and Even Then, "Normality" Will Vary By User Experience

Just #TwoYears to flatten the curve.

Just two fucking years.

They like their lockdowns like they like their wars: of the "forever" variety.

Dr. Anthony Fauci said America’s New Normal after the first round of COVID-19 vaccinations are delivered depends on a number of unknowns. He cautioned about soundbites promising a return to how life was before the coronavirus pandemic.

When asked whether Americans will still be wearing masks in 2022, Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, told CNN's Dana Bash on Sunday, "It is possible that that’s the case, and again it really depends on what you mean by normality."

"If normality means exactly the way things were before we had this happen to us, I mean, I can't predict that," he said. "Obviously, I think we're going to have a significant degree of normality beyond what a terrible burden all of us have been through over the last year."

Video below.

Note that in 2014, when liberals were taking the position that we needed no quarantines for Africa over Ebola, Fauci claimed "the science" said that quarantines were unnecessary and dangerous and should not be implemented.

But when the lockdown involves Americans quarantined in their own homes for two years, "the science" suddenly flip-flops.

Resurfaced interviews show Dr. Anthony Fauci, who has been the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease since 1984, was opposed to "draconian" quarantines that could have "unintended consequences" – back in 2014 during an Ebola outbreak in Africa.

He warned in late October of that year that enforcing mandatory quarantines would discourage medical professionals from volunteering aid in stricken areas. Governors from both major parties had imposed mandatory 21-day quarantines on people returning from affected countries in an effort to prevent the virus from spreading into the U.S.

"The best way to protect us is to stop the epidemic in Africa, and we need those health care workers -- so we do not want to put them in a position where it makes it very, very uncomfortable for them to even volunteer to go," he said at the time.

In an October 2014 interview with NBC’s Chuck Todd, Fauci declined to criticize both Govs. Andrew Cuomo, of New York, and Chris Christie, of New Jersey, over the quarantines – but warned that "we have to be careful that there aren't unintended consequences."

Never forget which conservatives were always skeptical of these lockdowns and which "conservatives" have been bullying and scolding actual conservatives to bow down before the Leviathan State and take a knee on freedom.*

* Personally, I was in the middle for a while in the beginning, so I'm not claiming I'm a hero here. I was unresolved for a while, then, of course, began seeing that everything these people told us was a lie.

I was not prescient.

But I at least gave a hearing to those who were more prescient, like Julie Kelly and Sean Davis.

But what about Dr. Guy P. Benson, Esq.?

What about the latest left-leaning cvck to be hired by National Review, Phillip Klein, coming in from the leftwing covid-porn rag the Washington Examiner?

All the fake conservatives were, as usual, on the side of the liberal establishment and the Leviathan State, ginning up fear and panic because "the experts," as well as their leftwing twitter friends (or handlers, really) told them it would earn them Virtue Signaling Points to do so.

And they were almost all viciously nasty to anyone on the right who so much as questioned Fauci's latest science-free babblings.

A lot of babbling Twitter Addicts have changed their position on the Forever Lockdowns, now that the political usefulness of them has evaporated.

26 Fauci can schedule a return to normality whenever he pleases. He can be wary of soundbites as much as he likes. The press and the state can make whatever noises they please.

We return to normality when people demand it and start loudly and publicly not complying, and not a moment before. Their schedules mean dick all, because their goal is string it out as long as possible. And they will do so regardless of what they or anyone else says until enough people say, "enough."

Fauci's schedule is meaningless.

In short, some ppl intentionally get infected with AIDS in order to get/produce stronger strains and go on to infect others. Which is why the movement to decriminalize ppl deliberately infecting others with AIDS baffles me.

49 WiNO is correct and beat me to it.

Ebola is an entirely different animal, er, bug, and the proper response to it is entirely different, too.

"There are no historical observations or scientific studies that support the confinement by quarantine of groups of possibly infected people for extended periods in order to slow the spread of influenza" (from 2006 study led by the manager of the global smallpox eradication project).

It is *not* an oversimplification to say when the horses are out of the barn and over the first range of hills, you are not going to "contain" them.

After the pattern of mortality became clear (extremely skewed to medically vulnerable/elderly, far more than influenza, which has a similar skew), widespread "interventions" were indefensible. They remain so. And this is separate from the indefensible introduction of "interventions" *known* not to have benefit, like masks*.

*anything except N95-type, properly fitted/worn, yielding small benefit, but not practical for society

I am still not in this camp. I don't think it was an op from day zero, at least not over here. I think it was panic a new disease in the context of China's draconian response. A lot of people thought it was *really* bad or concluded that, given the *potential* for that kind of severity, it needed aggressive response to try to contain it. I don't the start of this was necessarily innocent, but I really don't think it was an op for day zero.

I'd say it mutated completely into an Op by Easter, though. By Easter, it was clear that this was not the universal killer we feared at first. By June, treatments were pretty clear, too.

Those original cruise ships told the tale. You couldn't have staged a better experiment for transmission than putting the 'rona on those boats - where regular old influenza knocks out entire charters often enough that I won't get on one. And the infection rates on those ships told us right from jump street that the panic porn people were completely full of shit regarding Covid 19.

85 If all they'd done is "look, this stuff can be dangerous to the most vulnerable, so wash your hands, avoid the elderly and weak if you're sick, and don't cough on people" that would be fine. Its common sense, and we all should do it for any flu.

But they went berserk for 2 big reasons:
1) it was a way to destroy the economy and hopefully get rid of Trump (this failed, people saw through it)
2) It was a way to seize absolute power and implement their will bypassing representatives of the people like legislatures.

And that number 2 they will not give up until they're forced to.

88 That Fauci can be in that job - or have been, for decades - or that McCain or Shapiro would be quoted by anyone on any topic - are redundant confirmation that America is dumbed down beyond recognition.

When Fauci did his ludicrous "heterosexual" AIDs epidemic nonsense in the 80s, even NIH staff were mocking him/it behind his back, as it was obviously, even then, known to be absurd. Direct personal information.

And that idiot is *still* in his job? Where he has botched every single thing about this epidemic. The Spock Universe Hyman Rickover - an incompetent arrogant mediocrity wreaking damage for decades, instead of a world-changing figure allowed to stay for decades longer than usual because he was such a creator and a force of nature.

97 From the CDC's very own massaged data there have been 143 deaths age 14 and under since this began a year ago. . Even assuming no comorbidity that as the more likely cause death, that is around two per million. This is a rate so low the effectiveness of a vaccine could not be tested unless you monitored a group of at least 10 million for a year. Same goes for mask wearing, although I suppose you could use infection rates.

But we must keep schools and activities shut or tightly controlled until this goes away. For a death rate so low in children it would probbaly not even have been noticed by the medical community without the propaganda blitz.

In 1968, Fauci joined the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as a clinical associate in the Laboratory of Clinical Investigation (LCI) at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). In 1974, he became head of the Clinical Physiology Section, LCI, and in 1980 was appointed Chief of the Laboratory of Immunoregulation. In 1984, he became director of NIAID, a position he still holds as of 2021.

The Diamond Princess was probably the best accidental experiment ever run and it brought up a *lot* of problems with what this thing was and how it works when the Diamond Princess experience was compared with the theorized behavior. It is what led me to start being less worried, especially as we got +4-6 weeks from it putting in at Oakland and the passengers were largely fine.

That ship had more than 3,700 people on it. Most (~2,600) were passengers. The passengers' median age was 69 years old, with a bit more than half of them women. 14 of them died (0.5%), and of those whose ages are known, all but one of the fatalities were in people over 70. That ship raised a lot of questions at the time and still does, for good reason.

162 When Fauci did his ludicrous "heterosexual" AIDs epidemic nonsense in the 80s, even NIH staff were mocking him/it behind his back, as it was obviously, even then, known to be absurd. Direct personal information.

That is a gross simplification to the point it is wrong. In the West it was mostly a bath house and injection disease; in Africa and Asia it was both homosexual and heterosexual primarily because promiscuity is profoundly higher than in Western "Christianized" nations.

It was the latter that converted AIDS from a small budget item that the Moral Majority opposed, to a multi-billion dollar global operation once the same Evangelical group became convinced that it was a "women and children" issue. That transformation gave 'W' the cover he needed to open the floodgates of cash for humanitarian reasons.

I agree. Early on, there was real panic, no one had any idea what this thing truly was and what the risks were, and they didn't really know what to do.

It has been crystal clear for a long time now, however, that a)it's only truly dangerous for the elderly and people with serious pre-existing conditions b)asymptomatic spread, which was the entire basis for the mask mandates, is horseshit c)masks aren't actually effective d)masks and lockdowns don't have a noticeable effect on infection rates. This right here is the perfect encapsulation of what I was going to say. When someone starts bloviating about the theoretical or laboratory tested benefit of lockdowns and masks, respectively, tell him to fuck directly off.

The computer model theories and the lab or clinical experiments are meaningless. We ran the damned experiment. When the government imposes a lockdown or mask mandate, the vast majority of people comply. Look at when a mandate went into effect and then examine the test positivity rate starting five days later and run it for two weeks.

What do you find? No correlation. They do nothing to "stop the spread." Masks are even worse, as there's a slightly negative (though probably statistically significant) correlation. They cram their studies up their asses. We ran the experiment in the real world and results are in.

230 That ship had more than 3,700 people on it. Most (~2,600) were
passengers. The passengers' median age was 69 years old, with a bit more
than half of them women. 14 of them died (0.5%), and of those whose
ages are known, all but one of the fatalities were in people over 70.
That ship raised a lot of questions at the time and still does, for good
reason.

A perfect bookend to that cruise ship full of elderly was the USS Theodore Roosevelt which also got exposed, albeit with a relatively young and healthy sample population. As I recall there was only one death, a Chief in his 50's who had some other complications. Both those "events" happened close to each other and were near perfect "laboratory experiments" that should have yielded useful data to anyone interested in actually defining the threat as opposed to having and pushing an agenda.

The bailouts and handouts have kept this at bay for the time being. Take my brother for example. He's a chef and his wife is a waitress. They both went from working full-time to being unemployed due to the 'Rona response. They are still unemployed as a lot of restaurants have failed and most are still running reduced staff. Between unemployment, extended unemployment, helicopter drops and SNAP, they're doing okay. But it's taking unthinkable amounts of month to do it. Between the two of them and their kids, they're consuming around $3k/month in handouts when they used to be working and paying taxes.

Amplify that by many millions and the questions of sustainability become obvious.

Private schools have more flexibilty (provided their state's governor hasn't taken the option of in-person off the table), but treading very lightly. My son;s school has been mostly iperson, with boarders (~75%) required to stay on campus when in-prson is in session. Wanna know about old school? Look at Egypt. They did the exact opposite of what we did. They employed the ancient technique of the sanitarium model to help contain spread. If you had 'Vid-like symptoms, you went to a field hospital dedicated to nothing but the 'Rona. They were not sent to normal hospitals or mixed in with other sick populations. Symptomatic people were quarantined and treated as a group, all together.

Egypt's outcomes have been better than average, and their approach was more medieval than modern.

294 250 Revenant, I figured back in early summer that the closed schools thing would be the rock on which the ship of idiocy would founder (though the lack of revolt over the economic destruction stunned, and still stuns, me).

Boy was I wrong (add this to the list).

Instead, what we got was a spectacular confirmation/extension of the atomization of America - policies that don't badly affect me, tomorrow, directly ..... kind of don't exist, or I don't care about them. Too bad for the society as a whole, and other people.

I thought the schools would need to re-open too, certainly after the election. What the schools are pulling now is unreal, forcing parents to juggle "hybrid" and "fully virtual" school on a moments notice. Its an unacceptable and unsustainable nightmare for working parents (particularly those who cannot WFH).

And yet, it continues.

No change in primary/secondary education (nothing), and ..... the same near immunity of kids to acute cases, and the teachers/staff experience mirrored that of the general population. That is, no reason to close schools. None. Last I looked, Sweden had zero pediatric mortality. Zero, in a population of around 10M.

Now ponder the idiocy, corruption, selfishness, and general worthlessness of the "education" business and the creatures that inhabit it (yes, including little Suzie's teacher that you like so much).

Oldest school is assuming everyone outside the village is suspect and dropping trees over the roads into town, and not letting anyone in. A long incubation period means quarantining the sick is pointless, and if this was truly lethal - think hardcore depopulation biowarfare - pulling up the drawbridge would be the right thing to do. It's how villages weather Ebola unscathed over in western africa.

Which is in a half-assed way what some of this was nominally about - except they never really meant it. The progs have bounced around between any position they felt would benefit them since this broke publicly in Jan 2020. First they worked hard to throw open the borders and delay research on treatment, vaccines, and its origin, then they pivoted to freaking out by enacting measures that didn't do shit for the virus but predominately impacted deplorables or covered for election fuckery.

346 You can't help but notice that the two much more deadly viral outbreaks that Fauci was nonchalant about exposing the rest of us to - GRIDS/HIV/AIDS and Ebola - each primarily affected left wing mascot groups (gays and black African foreigners, respectively). In those cases, curtailing things like drugged up anonymous sex with multiple men per night in bathhouses was deemed a bridge too far. But somehow putting 300+ million on modified house arrest for a year thus far and condemning the non-laptop class to penury (while this fucking smoothbrain first opposed travel bans in the early days of COVID) is not a burden worth examining.

what "the (I FUCKING LOVE) science" says on any particular issue. But
since assholes like Fauci subscribe to all of those liberal pieties, and
they make pronouncements consistent with them, they're not subject to

Same here. The church has a small sign asking people to wear masks; it is ignored by about 80% of worshippers, the alter boys, and the priest until time for communion. Pretty much seems to be if you want to wear one, go ahead. If you don't, not a problem.

Yeah, those trucks must be worn-out. Because The Angel of Death Cuomo is running another cover-up. The story of the mass death of NYC doctors and nurses has been covered-up tight so far.

387 The MBAs are just itching to toss out all their older employees (e.g. Her Majesty). Everything you heard a few years ago about the loss of experience is so much horse plums. Management looks at employees as fungible components.
Posted by: Hadrian the Seventh at February 22, 2021 02:23 PM (mht8P)

The problem: MBAs and (retarded) management tend to look at costs, and not consider what they're getting for those costs.

Sure, a rookie comes cheap. So do apprentices in the trades. But there's a reason for that: it's because they don't yet have the skills or knowledge of someone who's been doing this for a while, but who costs a bit more.

I used to argue against this attitude among business guys, who in general were not excessively bright.

388 Trump delayed the burning times for four years. Now we are in the burning times and there will be fresh outrages every day with very little any of us can do about it. That breeds depression and resignation which are not helpful at this time. Instead, focus on what you can do for yourself and yours, become resilient financially, physically, and emotionally, and if you do anything political focus on collaborationists on the right, like Ace has, these sellouts want you as dead as their leftist friends do.

For peace of mind, just concentrate on self and family, perhaps friends of the non leftist variety. If you have leftist friends, family members, or acquaintences, I would strongly advise not talking politics at all to them even when the current regime pisses them off which it will inevitably do. Tell them frankly that they voted for it and you do not care to discuss it further as it is not your problem.

The leftist corporatist fever will break sooner or later and like in most cases, it will be unpredictable when it does but remember this in this case and all future cases, corporations and bureaucracies are not your friends.

Something I have kept an eye on during the pandemic is global CO2 levels. You would think that shutting down the world's economy for a year would impact the trendline. That is, if mankind actually has any impact at all.

However, you can see here (remove space after gov): https://www.esrl.noaa.gov /gmd/ccgg/trends/

No change in the trend at all. Even the seasonal oscillation due to winter in the northern hemisphere is identical to other years. So think about it: in order to slow the rate of increase (forget actually decrease!) humanity would theoretically have to resort to cutbacks that dwarf what we are going through right now.

393 A modest suggestion for those who live in areas where the stores require masks and you grudgingly don the mask as you enter, in order to "get along" maybe it would be worthwhile to not don the mask until you enter and a store employee tells you you need one, then don it.. No need to be confrontational, but put the burden on them. Make them say it, I wager most employees don't relish being enforcers.

Just a thought.

396 The scientific method is a valid and useful tool for conducting
experiments. Statistical analysis are not functional for reasons that
are too long to get into, but it's not a purely people problem. What is
called hypothesis testing in statistics doesn't actually work.

If the person using the scientific method is driven by any agenda other than the pursuit of scientific truth - then the usefulness of the scientific method is moot. In that case, "scientific method" is nothing more than another tool used by the technical con artist to fool the faithful rubes. So, once more - blind faith in the "scientific method" is a fool's game. Blind faith in those who purport to engage in it is even more naive.

Most any tool is useful in the hands of an honest man. Most any tool can be used for ill in any others. And even honest men make mistakes. So enough with the loving reverence for the "Scientific Method". It's a tool - no more, and no less.

I bought a new 43 inch Samsung 4K TV for $289. 10 years ago that was a $700 TV without 4K obviously.

This is part of inflation as well. And applies to any tech like laptops, tablets, phones, etc.

So now the counter to that is you buy eggs every week but only buy a laptop once every few years. True. But eggs cost $5 and a laptop costs $1000. Average them out and they cost the same over 4 years. And that is why inflation is low overall even if the price of eggs seems to be always increasing.

And most people buy it because conflict has become hateful to most people with the rancid civility norm substituting for truth.

A useful heuristic is to think of most research findings as probabilistic in nature and you should require similar evidence from multiple studies using a variety of data and methods as well as researchers to overcome the null hypothesis of no result, no correlation, no causation, etc. In other words, reject all hypotheses from studies unless it reaches the clear and convincing evidence standard or beyond a reasonable doubt if you prefer. Certainly reject all media coverage of research studies as these are pr pieces, not actual studies to be evaluated.
