Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | The Morning Report - 2/15/21 [J.J. Sefton]The nonsense that took place over these past days of a pretend impeachment, the absurd hyperbole spewed by the 'managers," their blatant refusal to acknowledge their own party's actual calls for violence in opposition to Trump over the last four years, most especially throughout the summer as BLM and Antifa did billions of dollars in damage to numerous cities with impunity, was an historical disgrace. Their constant reference to our Constitution is a joke; they have no reverence for our founding document, none at all. Those seven treasonous faux Republicans voted with the pro-violence, anti-law-enforcement crowd. President Trump, as everyone knows well, was and remains a fervent supporter of our police while the left was calling for their defunding if not their dissolution. It is safe to say that the 75-80m Trump supporters now have as much contempt for those seven collaborators as they do for the Biden administration as it so diligently works to undo all the good Trump accomplished in four short years. They are all of a piece with the left, one that is elitist at its core without a shred of concern for the American people. "A nation can survive its fools, even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within... for the traitor appears not to be a traitor... he rots the soul of a nation... he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist." CiceroSupposedly, the Dems are going to now try and prosecute Trump under the Second Section of the 14th Amendment regarding "rebellion, or other crime" in order to bar him from running again, but even Cuck Schemer and Malig-Nancy Pelosi are signaling that that gambit may be off the table. I think they really shot themselves in the face with this entire thing. Whether or not they realize it is another story. Without Trump in the public eye as Emanuel Goldstein, the Junta is going to have the continued destruction of our economy and society over this meaningless and toxic lockdown, a cratering economy because of same, Newsom and Cuomo now the poster boys of Democrat incompetence and hubris that cost the lives of thousands, the southern border already buckling under the strain of amnesty and instant citizenship for everyone, the move to abolish the petrochemical industry and send us back to the 16th century, and the ramping up the call to disarm the citizenry to name but only a few items on the hit parade. And that doesn't even include an insane foreign policy that will lead to Iran either getting nukes or being attacked by Israel and the GCC to prevent it, as well as the Chi-Coms making moves all over the map since Zhou Bai-Din, president Aqualung, is owned by them and is not going to do anything when they absorb Taiwan. With all that, despite the propagandists' best efforts to either cover it all up or else lay the blame on (who else?) Trump, they almost need another show trial as a distraction, even if that garbage has been rubbed into the ground already. But, they're in control and nothing is going to stop them. The persecution and silencing of any dissent will be ramped up and that will be that. In any case, I get the feeling we're on a powder keg.

As we remained focused on the political theater and COVID, the world becomes a more dangerous place. What better leaders to have in place than a demented Joe Biden and a clueless Kamala Harris--two senators with no actual management experience? When the war comes (China/Taiwan, Iran/Israel, or whatever), the elites who put these two jackals in charge will shrug and avoid all responsibility. They have purposefully made us week to enrich and empower China and others.

_______ The comments to that are full of trolls who didn't read the article. One of Kimball's main points is that they treat Trump's guilt as analytically true. Which of course, is not valid on a disputed point; you have to show your work. And not one of the trolls got that. Of course, were they to get it, they'd stop being trolls. But it's distressing to me to see that the very basics of argument are forgotten, when they are not being denounced. There's an article over at American Thinker that suggests immigrants who get caught crossing the border illegally get a one way bus ticket to DC.
That kind of dumbassery needs to stop and illegal immigrants need to be documented and processed with a one way ticket back to their homeland....with an accompanying bill for their repatriation to their government. Can't pay the bill? No more foreign aid for you my friend. Same goes for their compadres here already. You're not here legally? You get documented and processed with a one way ticket back to your homeland....with an accompanying bill for your repatriation to your government. Oh, you have a family here? Well, they can accompany you under the same conditions. If you have minor children born in the US and are citizens, they can return when they're grown. As adults, they'll be able to support you as guests provided you get here legally. And judges and lawyers and politicians who turn a blind eye to this, or who facilitate illegal immigration...well, I don't want to be harsh, so just exile them. IIRC, the most offensive part of that seige was. . . police clearing out Lafayette Park with gas (OMG, Trump's gassing peaceful protesters!!) so that he could safely make a speech from the Rose Garden, and then his stroll over to the church that was set on fire the night before for a photoshoot. Nevermind all of the SS agents and others injurred by the raging mob as they attempted to tear down the temporary additional fences around the WH. Maybe your friend does remember that the Left's found the whole thing funny, and started referring to Trump as "bunker boy?" Posted by: Lizzy at February 15, 2021 08:26 AM (bDqIh) 166

46, Eeyore, Gobry doesn't really 'get' Americans and Avik Roy doesn't either. So essentially, Gobry is engaging with Roy regarding globalism when both are essentially globalists.
In part, this is from their background in finances and investment, in part, it is because of cosmopolitanism due to ancestry. America and its constitution essentially froze a particular style of governance which was 1688 Whiggism where the people and their interests are superior to the state embodied by government. The idea of a written Constitution advanced beyond the 1688 statute of Rights to a theory that governments are constituted by its people and any power given to government is conditional on its protection of rights of citizens. Any government and representatives that does not do so are illegitimate and can be changed/removed on that basis. Posted by: whig at February 15, 2021 08:35 AM (pO7gM) 194

*waives goodbye to Nikki Haley*
The average person has enough information to make a truthful and accurate judgement about President Trump. The fact is that insurrection is a political narrative created by Democrats in yet another attempt to personally destroy him. There is no truth to it, nor is there any truth to the other political narratives that so-called Republicans have bought into. We can read them for ourselves, examines what's factual and what's not. What people like Haley and the 7 Republicans voting for impeachment don't understand is that Trump fought for US. He restored our pride in America and more importantly he did what he said he was going to do. In a GOP and "conservative" community that has done nothing but take and spout platitudes, Trump saw, came and delivered. People can play petty politics all day long, but they can't change what he accomplished. For that, he earned from most of us, undying support because he had a devotion to us, not Washington swampers or cocktail parties, not his donors, not the media. Us. Posted by: Marcus T at February 15, 2021 08:35 AM (X8f1/) 196

117 Catch 33, libertarianism is a uniquely American institution and like a hot house flower, doesn't work because its essential conclusions are based on an Enlightenment ideal of human reason. One part of that is egoism--the self above community, another is basically that people's nature is basically good so that bad behavior comes from society and government warping the good individual. Essentially, the key thinkers of modern libertarianism are Mills and Rand, not the older british Whig philosophers and founding fathers of the US.

Catch 33, neither author addresses how their solutions match up with our Constitution, political and economic realities, and actual policy making.
Roy, has proposed certain health care measures that are primarily to the interest of the financial community, not average Americans and ignores the fact that people have paid into Medicare for decades with the expectation of a binding contract. Roy essentially puts those people back into the pot with the rest of other people. Thus, the long term existence of a government binding itself to honoring a contract is a particularly Whiggish idea that Roy simply does not get. That is because cloud people with little organic contact to ordinary people look at people as things to be manipulated. So your little snide comment sidesteps the real problem of cosmopolitans not viewing themselves as of the people and a nation's historical culture. They exist only in the present because effectively they have no linkage to the past in their society other than intellectual. Posted by: whig at February 15, 2021 08:59 AM (pO7gM) 277

288 Ignoramus,
Libertarianism as a political theory in America comes primarily from JS Mills and later Ayn Rand. It is purely a child of the Romantics and the Enlightenment which places the individual at the center of the political order. The older strain of ordered liberty derived from Whiggism expressed by Locke and a few others and enshrined in the US Constitution, felt that society and culture were the glue of society along with localism. Thus, state and national governments were limited in their exercise of power because local communities were largely responsible for self ordering and providing moral guidance to people in order to exercise their liberty fruitfully. Thus, a majority of the Framers had no problems with local wage and price laws, established churches at the state level, local education initiatives, obscenity laws, regulating Sunday sales of items, prohibition, etc. Most of this would be viewed as oppressive by the JS Mills and Ayn Rand modern school of libertarianism. 291 illiniwek,
There is some good stuff out there regarding the Anti Federalist papers when read with the Federalist papers, one gets a general sense of where the Framers were at during the Founding and American Revolution. Clinton Rossiter, mentioned above, was a stellar scholar of the American Founding along with key interpretations. Woods, the Radicalism of the American Revolution is where the historian delves into how exactly Americans after the Revolution expected the new freed people to govern themselves. Interesting read. My area that I have been delving in for the last decade is primarily where does government of the people (or British kings for that matter) end when rights of the people are affected. Working on an applied book caused me to do substantial research backwards in order to fully understand the concepts behind the 'rights' enshrined in state and federal constitutions. 314 A brief review of Paine's "Common Sense" revealed this gem, defining today's "royal elite" and globalists.
"...could we take off the dark covering of antiquity, and trace them [kings] to their rise, we should find the first of them nothing better than the principle ruffian of some restless gang, whose savage manners, or pre-eminence in subtilty obtained him the title of chief among plunderers." 329 33, I made no comments about passports, merely that both Roy and Gobry are representatives of the cosmopolitan class--Gobry is French and resides in Paris. Roy describes himself as Bengali-American.
DeTocqueville was cosmopolitan for example and could analyze parts of American politics with an outsider's eye but in a number of instances, he simply did not understand how the French society reliance on the courtier spirit did not vanish after the French Revolution while Americans left alone for nearly one century of benign neglect could so easily overthrow the superstructure of courtiers. Wood, a historian, discusses in depth just how radical the American Revolution was and to do that you need to deeply understand where that particular culture came from. Green Berets for example do this when posted elsewhere, from what I have read of Gobry and Roy, neither understand American culture and thus they are describing the superstructure instead of the foundation. For example, I have read and understand quite a bit about Britain, its politics, its literature, history, etc. But if I moved to Britain, I simply would not 'get' the institution of royalty. 339 Gref,
Thomas Hobbes, in Leviathan, writing in the midst of the English Civil War had a good riposte on the divine right of kings. Basically, humans are bad and thus need external force to keep the bad humans from hurting each other. Once society was instituted and people gave up living in a state of nature, then those ancestors committed to being ruled and that commitment is binding on their descendants. Hobbes considered the avoidance of anarchy and civil war was paramount even at the cost of a tyrant. In reality, chieftains in more primitive societies did not always rule by brute force but a considerable number of them were elected by their warriors--which then became hereditary because of the mini civil wars that often broke out over who was the legitimate ruler. Basically, even at the primitive level, there was a chieftain of some sort to lead into battle and to resolve disputes. Thus, societies often concluded that a leader's sons should be considered, then primogeniture was adopted to keep property from being split up and also then to avoid power struggles at the very top. Political philosophers, like Payne, are usually bad historians. Posted by: whig at February 15, 2021 09:36 AM (pO7gM) 384

The cheating only works in the solid democrat districts. This matters in the presidential elections (if they can pull off another fraud) but not in the midterms. RINOs will be primaried out and even remotely swing districts will be won by a pissed off mass of Trump voters.
You seem to be someone who watches MSNBC regularly. Posted by: jwest at February 15, 2021 09:32 AM (/BlEx) That's right. I mean Republican controlled GA was a bulwark against cheating. All of those GOP state legislatures in those contested states held the line like a stone wall. It was a glorious sight to behold. Also, it's not like the Dems are in the process of Federalizing elections by requiring mail-in voting and removing any voter verification. Nope, I'm simply nuts for thinking that cheaters will cheat again. They will definitely cheat again when there are no negative consequences. Eeyore, The very fact that you believe that your view should prevail over the Founder's instituting Whiggism into the nation's founding documents is an example of rejecting history. Locke's influence on the Framers and their writings is simple fact as he was one of the few along with Montesquieu that were generally accepted political theory at the time. Beccara on criminal procedure is another.
It is a very modern conceit to believe that we can reject the past so as to reorder the present. Gobry is literally French and is commenting on American politics in an authoritative method. It would be as if I, an American, would be commenting on French politics in an authoritative method. That is cosmopolitanism in a nutshell. I've read his articles in the past and he gives short shrift to culture and history that should influence what he says. Instead, he simply takes the present and comments on it with no sense of history or culture. In the flat world, all cultures are amenable to analysis by a disinterested intellectual wherever they are and whether or not they demonstrate anything other than second hand derived understanding of that particular object. 389 garret, that is not historically accurate--what is more accurate is that being able to exercise coercive force was one of the considerations of being a leader.
The biblical David was selected, in part, because he was a superior war leader. When kings went into battle, if they were not popular, they often risked being fragged by their own supporters or simply allowed to be killed by their own people. More or less, being a leader means tacit consent of those that the leader governs that have power to depose them even in authoritarian regimes. 370 Ignoramus,
Not quite, Bagehot, in his study of the British Constitution in the 1860's noted the morphing of the role of Parliament versus the king and the rise of the prime minister cabinet government through the party system. What if I told you that similar institutions existed several centuries early in an Italian city state. The deep state is not all powerful--in essence, it is the courtier system that ruled states behind the scenes with an often titular king in place. Often, in Western Europe, the aristocrats would try to subvert the king's rule via influencing the information received by the king from his courtiers. Even in ancient Babylonia, or Egypt, Pharoahs and kings could rule but that rule was carried out by others that often subverted the Pharaoh's orders (priests in this case). Understanding the past provides a key to the future simply because people do not change their behaviors much in recorded human history. Posted by: whig at February 15, 2021 09:56 AM (pO7gM) 409

For some reason people in congress are saying the GOP has to distance itself from Trump. (jeff flake for one and probably all of the traitors/ignorant that voted to find Trump guilty)
In my view it's the opposite. The more they try to damage Trump, null his legacy (hey the Democrats got that covered) or just tell lies about him will find that THEIR polls will fall and they might get primaried and even lose their seat. McConnell has lost what little respect he got from me for his shoving thru all those conservative judges. (we're now reserving that opinion because we might have gotten taken and all the judges are GOPe or Commerce afficianados. The GOP IS the STUPID party. Can't read the writing on the wall. Just like there's now a limit on paragraphs and the length of a comment cause some turkey figured out they could block the blog by copying the comment section and then posting it as a comment. 412 Huck,
I would imagine that Fox is spending some money on 'influencers' to salt right leaning places with articles dissuading them from turning off Fox to something else. Note that the guy writing the article spends time as a 'media' invited guest which is a common way to pay for play. Posted by: whig at February 15, 2021 10:30 AM (pO7gM) 415
398 Jack, if you are using free VPN services, that is typically where trolls lurk.
Trolls rarely like to use paid VPN services because A) the VPN can ban them permanently for violating their TOS, and B) trolling is fine until you have to pay for your pleasure in trolling. Posted by: whig at February 15, 2021 10:33 AM (pO7gM) 416
