Florida Education Commissioner: Why No, I Won't Be Following the CDC's Teachers-Union Dictated Slow-Roll Plan to Fake-Open (Really, Keep Closed) the Schools. We'll Just Keep Them Open, Thank You.

More future campaign material for the next true, elected president, Ron DeSantis.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Friday provided a roadmap for reopening schools during the ongoing pandemic but in Florida where campuses have welcomed students back since the beginning of the academic year, much of the precautious are already being utilized.

Reacting to the long-awaited CDC guidance, Florida Education Commissioner Richard Corcoran released a statement saying Florida’s schools have been operating safely since August 2020 and will continue to do so.

"Since Summer 2020, Florida school districts, superintendents, public charter schools, private schools, educators, students and families have worked hard and have done an incredible job ensuring Florida students can continue to receive a world class education in-person, every day," Corcoran’s statement read. "CDC guidance is informative, although Florida school districts, public charter schools and private schools should stay the course they began in Summer 2020. The science has been clear since August, and subsequent studies and data since then show that schools are safe to reopen."

I'll tell you, two or three years ago, if you had told me the politician I'd be the most genuinely excited about and ready to follow would be Ron DeSantis, I would have politely nodded, then called you a dum-dum behind your back.

Mind you, a mentally free population would have decorated trees with Democrats months ago, but the upcoming Florida rebellions will be a good start. DeSantis doesn't even have to be aggressive about it: simply reduce salaries for virtual teachers, or offer vouchers so children can go to actual schools.

73 But the CDC originally recommended *not* closing in-person instruction. Literally the only thing they got right at from the start. Of course little fuss was made, nobody pushed it, even the WH.

As of the time I gave up on the medieval, pre-scientific society we've become (enough people to make it so, anyway), there was zero reason to close, or change, schooling, based on common sense and all evidence to date.

Sweden of course altered nothing about primary/secondary education, no children died of C19 (literally zero), and transmission among teachers/staff was identical to general population. Duh.

97 Well Rep. Burgess Owens' twitter feed is somewhat entertaining. It's very early but he remains one of the extreme few who isn't on my shit list. For example on the day Swallowell spoke, he called him out for consorting with a Chinese spy. Yes it's only twitter but again low bar - it's very rare among the elected GOP so it's good to see.

142 Trump had plenty of discipline, and DeSantis is unlikely to have the fire and focus of Trump, which was highly unusual. But he's the next best thing.

Electoral prospects not bright nationally, though. Election integrity, obviously, is simply gone in key states, and even in places like AZ and GA. WI, MI, PA? Ha, good luck (2 of those have had endemic fraud issues for decades, and it's getting worse, not better).

And if DeSantis can replicate the traction Trump has among non-college whites and black/Hispanic voters, it will be very surprising. Good luck on the electoral count.

Well, yeah, there is that fly in the ointment we need to always remember. Until their massive fraud machine is ripped to shreds, nobody, regardless of how charismatic, strong and conservative they are, will be able to overcome it. If Trump can garner upwards of 80 million votes, yet a demented potatohead can still be victor, that's very high on the problematic scale.

I don't know the details, but if this is a newborn who failed the test at the hospital after birth and now had a comprehensive screening by an audiologist, go get another test at another audiologist to make sure. It's possible, and not uncommon, for the test results to track the test itself and show that your newborn has perfect hearing when he's really profoundly deaf.

The fact that Ace, (and I for that matter) consider DeSantis as far superior to the empty GOP corporate suits in the Senate (Hawley, Johnson, and perhaps Cruz excepted) and won his last race as a Republican has no bearing on whether Ace should and does support a third party.

There are roughly 3.5 years for the GOP to self destruct but the people that are worthy will still remain including officeholders.

Grandson the Elder's school has been in live session this semester. One week remote when a student's parents notified the school that said student had been in contact with some who tested positive for COVID. Also, Grandson the Elder had a sick day. Since the reason was one that fell under COVID symptoms, he needed a note from a "health care provider" that he was asymptomatic before returning to class.

This will just encourage people to lie about the sick reason.

These are stunning idiots. They really do not understand, even a little. Sure, impeachment forces everyone who agrees with his policy ideas, even some of them, to rally around him. No question. But deep-state reform, especially including rejuvenating our so sadly beat up ideals and governmental institutions (hello DOJ/FBI/CIA!), fighting globalism and the CCP, protecting borders, and promoting a sane foreign policy also found lots of support. Trump has lots of faults, but at least he doesn't see politics as superficially personality-driven in the way his dumbshit critics do.

327 Up here, we have a category of driver called "Driving While Korean." You wouldn't believe it until you see it.

Divided roadway (medians), car going the opposite way on my side of the road. Yeah, seen it in California in the 80's.

328 I do not understand rolling blackouts. This seems like the minimum level of competency for utility management.

What is their excuse in TX?

If you've ever had pipes freeze in the dead of winter you might understand. They're spreading the pain around to keep the damage to a minimum. Here in Pennsylvania, I've had mid-winter power outages that last days and I would have been overjoyed to get some power every day. Last time it happened indoor temp was 34 degrees. On the outside walls, where my hydroponic copper pipes? Probably a slight freeze. Fortunately, not bad enough for damage.

Since then, I now have multiple kerosene heaters. Just in case.

329 You go to school and teach. If you have the right attitude and you care about kids, you can do it.

If the kids want someone to care about them, they'd start their own union.

332 " Governor Holcomb is a dipshit who went along with the leftist government of Michigan and Illinois for awhile. At least the schools and restaurants and bars are open now. That stupid fuck should have been shit canned. But then we would have a demoncrat for governor."

Actually bills in Indiana legislature are going to strip some governor and county health officials power. My sources say they will pass easily. Governor will not veto because he will be overriden.

333 You can start licking DeSantis the day he uses a gram of his political capital, to push the Republican dominated Florida legislature to tell their Oligarch lords in Big Tourism, Agriculture, Construction to fuck off, while they pass mandatory Statewide E-VERIFY. Otherwise you're pledging loyalty to another phoney populist just like Trump.

334 Not to diminish Ron Desantis, he is doing a fantastic job, but Iowa's schools, (and several other Midwest RED states) have been open since August also. Successfully.

His better job has been protecting the elderly.

Yeah he should say something he doesn't believe so that he can hold up your precious standard for "consistency." Gee, that doesn't sound like cvck G0Pe BS at all...

Thanks for the ad hominem attack, but you missed the point. If Ace would think before ranting, he wouldn't have the consistency problem. Evidently, he has done a 180 on the Republican party but going all in on DeSantis.

What does Ace really believe?

336 DeSantis is fully on board with the race quota nonsense. He insisted on it for judicial appointments. Google the stuff with his failed Florida Supreme Court nominee. Also a squish on environmental agenda (vetoed a state law banning local prohibitions on plastic straws).

337 Excited 6- year- old grandson last night got a pmon
happy meal. But told me he wasn't allowed to bring the cards to trade at school any more. Why? "We get too close together." His southern Orange County, CA public school has been open since October. No outbreaks. This is criminal to these kids.

Back in prehistory, trade was done with no contact and no shared language because each side was afraid of the others killing or capturing the other.

The sailors would put down samples of their wares on the beach. The natives knew if they swiped them, the sailors would not come back again. The natives would put down items they would trade for each item, and when both agreed the natives would take their stuff and leave, after which the sailors could land and take the stuff in exchange,

Governor Cuomo Is scheduled to have a press conference today at 2:15 pm Eastern Standard Time to discuss the lying and concealment of nursing home deaths New York. Cannot wait to hear him spin lies to justify his illegal conduct.

339 From perspective here on the Treasure Coast, Ron DeSantis is the most spectacular governor Florida has ever had (and that includes Jeb! who did a bangup job despite his laughable White House aspirations).

Florida's time has come, as it is now the third largest state, but DeSantis first has to be re-elected, and considering his 2018 race was one by only 33,000 votes over a black radical later found dead drunk in a love shack Miami hotel room in which meth was freely available.

The Dems will throw everything they have against DeSantis in 2022, and even now they've been softening him up in the national media because they know what a threat he represents to their hegemony.
