Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors...even by children.Notice how she didn't mention any political parties or ideologies,and it's pretty much a generic anti-hate warning message? Bedcause all she's saying is that people shouldn't hate each other because of their political views. And these words are so dangerous that Disney basically unpersoned her? Of course, it didn't really start here. There is a bit of context I haven't mentioned yet. Ms. Carano has been in the crosshairs of the woke mob for a long time. A while back, some trans activist crybullies started harassing her for not posting her preferred pronouns in her Twitter bio. She refused to do so and the harassment continued. Finally she got fed up with their sh1t and changed her bio to this:

oh, when i was waiting tables at an italian restaurant we had a cooler malfunction in the gelato cooler. it leaked water on a sheet pan full of creme brulee and tiramisu. nothing at all actually wrong with it, but made it look bad.

now on ingram's show, the gop guy she asked point blank about why there's been no report released hem'd and haw'd and answered a completely different question and never circled back...

For the most part, sci-fi died as a field when the Millenials began to write for it and overall book reading in culture tanked. So, in the absence of a large general audience for the books, Sci-Fi became other genres expressed as sci fi. Fantasy is one which is mainly recycling story lines from our ancestors and the better authors of the first wave of fantasy that cribbed the best stuff first. Another is the romance disguised as sci fi, and a smaller genre is either fantasy or sci fi detective stories. A few still try the grandiose Tolkien imitations but even injecting sex and gore plus historical fiction (cough George Martin) is not enough to sustain prolonged interest anymore.
For the most part, I find better reading material from 1960's backwards than from the 1970's forward.

He said that Trump is constantly , in his opinion, getting really bad advice both in the WH and now at Mar a Lago from his lawyers and advisors about how to approach things. He's furious that Trump's lawyers told the Senate they are not going to use the full 16 hours for testimony, they will wrap up today. Navarro said that since this is simply political theater, they should be taking the opportunity to lay out why Trump believed the election was fraudulent. Navarro said he could be ready in a noment's notice with his entire report on election fraud and would do it for Trump.

There's a great takedown of it in the book Not Since Carrie: 40 Years of Broadway Musical Flops. It was supposed to be based completely on the movie, but went through so many rewrites that it only had the most tenuous connection to it.
Also, Allen was never as big a star as a show like that demanded, and his songs were cliche-ridden and fairly tuneless. I will admit to having a soft spot for it, though.

Cancel culture is banishing a person -- separating them from all connections to a community, including their job, their industry, their bank, their social media, their friends and even family. They literally want to cancel the target's existence.
That is wholly different from cancelling a streaming service, FFS.
To put it in their term: It is the difference between 'speaking truth to power' [in this case, Disney] vs. using every institutional power to destroy an individual's life.

If you haven't seen some of Gina Carano's movies, you should definitely watch "Haywire" (2011) and "In The Blood" (2014). The former is much better than the latter but both are worth watching. Because of her background, she is believable in the action scenes.

Rachel Nichols is just PAINFULLY beautiful, and it shocked me that she's such a good chameleon that I hadn't noticed that fact despite seeing her in about half a dozen projects.
As for the Mandalorian kerfuffle, I'm still not quite over how you can hire Clint Eastwood's son for a space western, have him be the guy onscreen 95% of the time, and then dub the voice of that guy over him instead of letting him just be the guy... none of which decreases my support of how awesome Gina Carrano is, both as an actress and as a person.

I don't think it is a good strategy. It is a trap. They hope he gets on this track and loses Senate Republican support. After Trump is done with this show, he can then deal with fraud. But what is important now is to make a case that what they are doing is unconstitutional. It is also a defense of people who were in DC. They need to poke holes in BS charges and make a case that the pols and unabated BLM orgy that still is out there, are the ones who brought the crowds to DC not Trump.

Navarro's point though was that since Trump has been efffectively cancelled out of the majority of his previous ability to communicate with the public, this would have been a good opportunity to do so. Which Navarro doesn't seem to understand, the vast majority of people are not watching this 6th grade level operetta. They aren't interested as they know it's ridiculous.

In the Blood is kind of a fun watch but as a movie not well made and a dumb dumb dumb plot (not the part about my newlywed husband disappeared on honeymoon but the reason behind it). Also it looks like she made the movies in the afternoons after MMA training because her legs are all bruised up throughout the movie. Interesting choice from wardrobe in the short shorts.

I'm hesitant about DeSantis simply because another "outsider" would have the same problems as Trump did: he'd be reliant on the GOP establishment to fill positions in his administration and would be undermined by those same appointees and advisors. Trump at least has been burned enough that hopefully he knows better.
That said, even if he isn't going to run again in '24, I want Trump to keep the option open as a threat against the Romneys and Haleys of the world.

Yeah, DeSantis is not an outsider in any meaningful sense. And a DeSantis administration will be compromised by party insiders from jump street. Not saying he would not be a good choice, given our miserable choices, but some realism is in order. Most of the good feeling about DeSantis comes from him simply not being a buffoon about Covid. While nice, that's a low bar, albeit one that most of the GOP can't seem to hurdle.

334 Imma say this as I grew up in SC. The Confederate flag (yeah I know Battle Flag or whatever I know you know what I mean) is a Democrat emblem. It was in 1865, it was in 1965 when Democrat Fritz Hollings put it on the Statehouse dome. The first Republican governor of SC since Reconstruction pulled it off the dome and put it on the grounds, and Haley took it off the grounds and put it in the State Museum.
Haley is not covering herself with glory now, but no one should be going to bat for that Democrat symbol.

And what darkly amuses me, but also makes me sad, about these great Christian saints (as in followers of Jesus, not canonized saints) is that whether they died in 1907 or the 1920's they talk about the "degenerate age" Dr. Henry Foster mentions it and he died in 1907. R.A. Torrey mentions it and he lived in the flapper age. The degeneracy of the 2020's would make their heads spin so fast now their heads would probably fly off their shoulders.

You know, I could've foreseen this back when I was a junior in HS. I helped teach a elementary class the NEW MATH.
I knew then that they were complicating math more and not really teaching a simple and convenient way of mathematics and If I'd had experience I would've seen where it would lead and why they were doing it.
All these 'NEW' methods of teaching have one goal really. Too ruin young minds and make them susceptible to unreason and to also frustrate the students so they give up trying to learn and this is what we wind up with; ignorant and people who can't reason, can't think and have no thoughts of their own. They rely on others for everything and obey those folks without question.
