Yeah, I'm not a fan of microwaves. They suck at making things warm in a way that makes them more appetizing, which is their only job. Everything gets mushy and gross and some things get HOLY FUCK THAT HOT hot, and it's always kind of a gamble what kind of day your microwave is having.

A concerned mom came running over to meet him. -- A day later it happened again with an even tinier fawn, but this one didn't move ... thought I may have hit it, but I lifted him up and he was able to walk away. Usually they are well hidden ... mom needs to teach these two not to lay down in the road.

It is definitely a fraidy cat since all I did was tap on the window and look down at it (about 35 to 40 ft away) and it trotted off. Two of them will actually stare back at me for awhile. The ginger/white cat I've only seen from behind here.

They're not great. Especially if you microwave them.

If you cook them in an oven or toaster oven, they become mediocre. Add a fuckton of Franks hot sauce, and they're acceptable.

But, they're cheap and easy to make. They only take 23 minutes in a toaster oven, which isn't too bad, and the only steps are turn on toaster oven, open freezer, remove hot pocket, take hot pocket out of plastic, and throw it in the toaster oven. Then close the freezer, throw the plastic on the counter to "clean up later", and set the iphone timer.

I've never tried that. I bought my ex a popcorn maker so we could ditch our microwave, and so until I moved in to my most recent apartment, I haven't had a microwave in years. I used the one here once to emergency semi melt (soften?) some butter when I forgot the whole "let the butter get to room temperature" thing when I was cooking.

As to microwaves, I love them. When you are gone for 12 hours, come home, tired, all you have to do is put a plate of food in the microwave for 3 to 4 minutes--a homemade meal that you have prepared ahead of time. So while you are changing your clothes, your food is heating. No other cooking on the stove or oven. No pots, pans, knives or spoons to clean.

In my experience with cats, they do whatever the fuck they want.

When I lived with my ex, we had 2 cats (well, she had two cats, but somehow they became my responsibility), and while they knew they were not supposed to go on the counter, they did it whenever they wanted and didnt care if I yelled at them. Sometimes they'd break a glass or something by throwing it off the counter just to be dicks.

Husband was OK with cats on table and cats on counter.I was not OK with either.

We have compromised: cats NOT on the counter, but they are allowed on the table. We just use placemats that are put away after dinner. Cats on the table are off putting to many, so fewer people over for dinner, which is fine with me.

As for the counters... a coffee can with nuts and bolts in it is your friend.

Mine go up on the breakfast bar - it is one of the 2 eating stations. I don't use it myself. They don't move any closer. I have had other cats that liked to jump to the top of the fridge from the counter, but hardly touch the counter. I don't have a big table but often that is just used because it is a high safe point. If you put a cat tree or special chair, you can usually get them to use it instead.

If it bothers you, you could just put a towel down on the surface and pull it up when you use it for food prep.

Some cats love to watch what is going on, but often if you give them an approved place (like the fridge top) you can nudge the behavior your way without a lot of fuss. If the cat is addicted to scraps it may be harder, unless you give the same or more scraps at an approved site instead.

In the 80s I had a cat that would wake me up in the morning. When he did that, I would grab him close in a hug and talk annoying old aunty squeaks in his ear until he really wanted to go. The wake up attempts stopped. That cat trained the next kitten I got the rules of the house, and over the next decades every cat has been taught by the others somehow the rules of the house without me doing anything at all - this is many generations of older cat teaching younger.

I must have a very annoying squeaky voice!

The first dose of the Pfizer vaccine didn't faze my husband, with high BP and Type 1 diabetes. I got dizzy about 45 minutes later, went home, and fell asleep for several hours. Sore arm the next day.

We get our second doses tomorrow, and my surgeon's nurse said she had flu-like symptoms for about 48 hours. Not looking forward to it.

Fun fact: Minneapolis PD blasted a white lady who was trying to report a crime a couple of years before the George Floyd shooting. But it didn't fit the media narrative since the races were flipped, so the story got buried.

Two cops sitting in their cop car, passenger shoots across his partner out the driver side window because he thought he saw a gun. Obvious training and discipline issues were obvious to us non-connected locals at the time, but they obviously did little to fix the department so I've no sympathy for what Minneapolis did to itself last year. Both of ours were rescue cats. Older one (horny cat) took to the older child immedately while we were there looking for a kitten (lady said he had refused to come out for anybody, then suddenly, with my older child sitting in a chair nearby, came out and jumped on his lap). The kitten we got (about 9mo, so not quite a kitten) is better behaved, and obviously hadn't been fed from the table like horny cat. And yes, both are snipped.

More fun fact, that officer was Muslim, and the city had patted themselves on the back for hiring him. It came out later that whoever evaluated him recommended he NOT be hired. They did it anyway. So they got their diversity hire, AND got a white woman killed. Win-win!

Yeah, pretty much. I used to live in suburban MN (not dumb enough to be in Hennepin, tyvm) so I got some of the gory details from what locals were willing to run the story.

You should be able to download CD recovery software (reads bad CD's) and reburn to a blank CD.

Sounds like there is damage to the track that contains the directory. Lacking that, a device cannot even determine what sort of files exist on the disc. Second the suggestion to get recovery software. Recuva might work for that.

Well, sort of. It was a power struggle between the northern and southern aristocracy over who gets to wear the daddy pants, which manifested itself in a few different ways in the decades leading up to the war itself.

But you are correct on the revisionism. Slavery is to the Civil War what the Holocaust is to WWII: not a factor until the winners went shopping for moral superiority late in the game.

Maybe not the most humane way to do it. Mike Rowe did his TED talk on peripeteia and anagnorisis, and discussed that just cutting the balls off of a lamb was much more humane that using a band on the balls.

It's taken me a long time to get to this point, but I've maintained a 50% service connected disability since 1992. I let the VA schedule their appointments, pit me in group therapy for ptsd, let them poke at me, prod me, turn my head and cough, etc. Until i had that same disability with no changes for 15 years. Then. Then, i told them to fook off, i don't have time for their bullshit. Was told i would lose my disability percentage.

Me: how long have i had the level i'm currently at?
VA : Ummm, 15 years and a few months.
Me: yeah, if i need you assholes, for something you can't do, that you havent done for 15 years, i'll make an appointment and see you in seven or eight months.

I let the VA schedule their appointments, pit me in group therapy for ptsd, let them poke at me, prod me, turn my head and cough, etc. Until i had that same disability with no changes for 15 years. Then. Then, i told them to fook off, i don't have time for their bullshit. Was told i would lose my disability percentage.

I was 100% for depression/anxiety until this month, when I drop to 70%.

Doesn't really bother me at this point.

Just glad I can still pay rent and utilities while the hub continues his electrician apprenticeship, which should be completed next year.

509 I took two doses of ivermectin (the apple flavored paste for horses). I had some diahrea a 4 or 5 days after the first dose. But it could have been spicy food. I feel great and I don't see the squigglies when I close my eyes. Maybe I had a parasite or two.

Guy in my unit had two lumbar vertebrae cracked by an IED. Took the Army 14 months to get him into Walter Reed for surgery. He was on a permanent profile that said he couldn't stand for more than 30 minutes and permanent prescriptions for Vicodin and Percocet. He lived on alcohol and pain pills. Really smart guy, too.

514 Mom has been getting an earful from my sisters about staying safe and getting vaccinated. The siblings aren't happy that Milady and I don't wear masks when we visit her, but they're hundreds of miles away, so pthbbbtt.

Mom chose to get the the Pfizer vac. After the first shot, she just had a bit of a sore arm the next day. She is taking the 2nd dose on Wednesday. Milady and I usually go visit her on Saturdays, but we will be heading down to see her on Wednesday. Just in case.

One of Mom's helpers asked me if I would get the vac. I said, not with a gun to my head. (Exaggeration for emphasis - I might yield to a gun.)

Younger sis admits she's a "germaphobe," following all the guidelines, wiping down everything like groceries out in the garage, changing clothes when she comes home. And the shots. Well, she, her long-time guy, and her younger son all just got the Kung Phlu.

Her elder son was visiting my Mom (masked all the time). Mom said to him, how is it that [younger sis & fam] followed all the directions and got sick anyway, but [Webworker & Milady] don't do any of that and are fine?

She's pretty sharp, for being in her 11th decade.
