Good Morning Morons. I just woke up so no links this morning.
Today is Sunday, January 31, 2021. On this day in history in 1606: Four conspirators, including Guy Fawkes, were executed for treason by hanging, drawing and quartering, for plotting against Parliament and King James. Posted by: Vic at January 31, 2021 06:01 AM (mpXpK) 4

In one of those side stories I see on the newssites. The NYT says the snow is being caused by Climate change. What can't they blame on that? I guess it has never, ever snowed in NYC. Is there any science out there that shows why if I get the vaccine, I still need to wear a mask?
Posted by: Bruce There was some politician who got two doses of vaccine and tested positive for coronavirus. I assume he tested positive for having the - let's call them spores - spores present in his nostrils. Which means he inhaled the spores somewhere, and could then exhale and send those same spores out into another room and infect others. So one might assume that by wearing a mask he would limit his ability to expose himself to inhaling spores. Also by wearing a mask, he would limit the spores in his nostrils from being ejected into another persons space. The answer of course, is for all of you to get inoculated. Fortunately, I already had the corona so in my opinion that's better protection than any phony-baloney imitation. YMMV Posted by: Winston Smith at January 31, 2021 07:06 AM (N/gDA) 98

Gooble is being sued for unfair ad placement practices. They have been doing that for at least 20 years. I learned about that with their "Ad Sense" program, which would boost your ad's ranking if you paid for it. I told them then to stuff it.
I still get calls asking to verify my gooble listing which I typically terminate with a hearty "F' Off!" Posted by: f'd at January 31, 2021 07:11 AM (ii0TK) 112
That's the claim, Vic.
Except there's no statistically significant evidence that wearing dust masks does fuck all to protect against flu viruses. Somewhere in the last year everybody lost their minds on this shit. Number one, virtually everyone will be exposed to this particular virus. It cannot be avoided. We were told that we needed "2 weeks" of a complete lockdown to prevent the hospitals from being overwhelmed by a huge slug of humanity exposed all at once. Number two - now everyone seems to think that they simultaneously must avoid ever being exposed to this particular virus (not possible) AND, that it is practically an automatic death sentence if they get it. It is deadly, it does kill people. Very similar to many flu viruses have throughout history. It may kill me too, I dunno. This is all bullshit, the reaction, the hysteria. Friday my BiL's mother passed away and had a graveside funeral, got to my sister's house about 15 people waiting to leave almost everyone had on masks. Outside at funeral it was 25 degrees and windy and everyone but me had one though probably helped in cold. Afterwards back at my sister's everyone slowly lost them as we were eating except my 20 something sjw nephew who I think never took it off. Posted by: Skip at January 31, 2021 07:13 AM (Cxk7w) 115

It is strange to me that standard disease epidemeology that even "civilians" had at least a passing knowledge of due to knowledge osmosis or simply reading history, paying attention to public health pronouncements, was seemingly jettisoned overnight in favor of "REEEEE!! WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE" and no further rational discussion is allowed.
No sense of proportionality or basic common sense. "One size fits all" is a very poor mechanism for anything outside the Army. It reminds me of basic training, where every private tries to outdo every other in strict adherence to the Rules. One of them is that anytime an NCO enters the area, the first person to notice yells "At Ease!" and everyone stands up and stands at ease. "The area" though, assumes an ever widening scope. One wouldn't want to make a mistake, after all. It got to the point where some sergeant walking to his car from the quick shop 2 blocks away, some sharp eyed private would yell "At Ease!". The mask thing is a form of group dynamics. Authoritarian control, conformity. A uniform if you will. It denotes compliance. From a medical perspective, quarantines are for the sick, and the contagious. Cuomo did reverse. Posted by: Common Tater at January 31, 2021 07:29 AM (qV3Xe) 149

Not very useful, but the presence of nicotine from the smoke in the colon would be some excruciatingly painful to someone still partially alive it would revive them. Then we are to drive to Baltimore for another load of our stuff, and our cat. Now Baltimore is to get up to a foot of snow, ending maybe late Tuesday. I thought I read he died of unrelated natural causes days later. He apparently got bonked on the head by some thug with a fire extinguisher during the events, but it wasn't related to his death. Now they are pitching the story differently and implying, but not saying outright, that it caused his death.

65 Is there any "science" out there that shows why if I get the vaccine, I still need to wear a mask?
Posted by: Bruce at January 31, 2021 06:49 AM (vd8XM) My understanding is these covid vaccines are not the type of vaccine most of us associate with the word "vaccine" ... those vaccines such as for smallpox, polio, and measles, etc that create an immunity to the disease. The covid vaccine lessens the effect of the disease. So you can still get covid, but not suffer the cytokine storm it produces. And since you can still get the disease, you can still be a transmitter of the disease. Soooo, that thing that was so scary about the disease in the beginning... that people not showing symptoms were infecting others, has actually been heightened by the vaccine. btw, having had the disease apparently doesn't give you lifetime immunity to it either. Best guess by the "experts" is that you will have approximately 90 days of immunity from reinfection. Sounds to me like the human race is pretty much screwed. 25 minutes at the 'Burger Bar' waiting to them to make two burgers, and an order of fries. With sodas.....$23.00. And F'n paper straws. I was reading last night's Science Thread this morning and Jay Guevara did a great job. I have a couple of things that fall under his general outline.
1) As a general rule Progs/Libs?commies are Severely Limited Particlelist Thinkers. They literally see no continuity and so are always doing what I like to call, Seeking the New Zero. The perfect point at which everything before was wrong and evil and bad, and everything after is correct and good and wonderful. So, as they say themselves, "we love rules" trying to force reality and all people at the New Zero. 2) Conservatives recognize the essential chaos of the world and have learned to accept the nature of change and surf the chaos by adhering to the principles of personal limits (ie. morality, religion, etc), discipline in their personal lives, and recognizing reality and the nature of the world as is, finding "eternal truths". So, while we recognize the need for laws and rules, we don't need tight strictures to "control" reality and other people. Posted by: naturalfake at January 31, 2021 08:38 AM (dWwl8) 283
