Good morning, kids. Midweek and it appears as if the illegal and unconstitutional attempt to impeach Donald Trump post-presidency has failed. The only reason for the Enemy Junta and their co-conspirators in the GOP to do this is not only to humiliate the deposed former President but by successfully convicting and removing him from the elective office that he has not occupied since noon last Wednesday, prevent him from running again in 2024. As if any election going forward is going to be free, fair and not rigged against any challenger to the current Junta. Actually, I was kind of looking forward to the trial because if even for a few weeks would keep the Senate busy with bullshit while preventing them from moving forward with the Communist agenda. Not that the Senate or the House even matters at this point since Zhou Bai-Din is armed with the extra large Crayola box and putting an "X" on more executive orders in his first week than the past three presidents combined. More importantly, if they did go ahead with this lynching, they'd effectively make a martyr out of President Trump and not only anger two thirds of the American people (actually 100% of the American people; Democrats have rejected their birthright) but energize an already enraged populist movement.

In any case, impeachment or not, Trump and anyone from the most senior administration official down to the average MAGA hat wearing voter that can be identified is going to be hounded to death. And I mean that quite literally.

But let's be clear, the John Brennans, Adam Schiffs, and oligarchs in Big Tech who are trying to undermine our constitutionally-protected rights and turn our country into a police state with KGB-style surveillance, are also domestic enemies, and much more powerful, and therefore dangerous, than the mob that stormed the Capitol," [former Congresswoman Tulsi] Gabbard declared...

...In remarks last week, Gabbard connected H.R. 350, the Domestic Terrorism Prevention Act of 2021, to the growing demands on the Left that Trump supporters must be "deprogrammed."

"This whole effort, whether you're talking about this bill or people saying that we have to deprogram these Trump cultists and people who voted for Trump because they've been radicalized, all of this just goes to further tear our country apart," Gabbard warned. "And it moves towards the thing Joe Biden said in his inauguration speech that shouldn't happen, which is a dehumanization of your opponent."

She warned that the new domestic "War on Terror" seems to involve identifying conservatives and Trump supporters as dangerous "extremists."

"What characteristics are we looking for as we are building this profile of a potential 'extremist,' what are we talking about? Religious extremists, are we talking about Christians, evangelical Christians, what is a religious extremist? Is it somebody who is pro-life? Where do you take this?" the former congresswoman asked.

I don't know what angle Tulsi Gabbard is playing at, and although she came across in the Democrat primary flea circus of 2019 as a voice of reason, she's still a Democrat. But, aside from her remark about the "mob that stormed the Capitol" which ignores the fact that it was led by Antifa/BLM goons posing as Trump supporters, she is absolutely dead right about who is now leading the purges and the danger it poses. I mean, when you publicly attack John Brennan and Schiff-for-Brains as public enemies posing more of a danger than the Black Wednesday mob, you are painting a target on your forehead. Whatever she's thinking, I applaud her for her statement. The fact that the GOP in unison did not join with her also speaks volumes about the nature of that party.

Forget the slippery slope. We already have de facto government censorship of voices of opposition wherein challenging the outcome of a rigged election is going to be legally set in stone as fomenting insurrection and treason. We are plummeting down a crevasse towards human rights commissions that will do to ordinary citizens who happen to oppose abortion, or own firearms, are registered Republicans or lack the required pigmentation to be seen and heard in polite society, to be sued into submission, as was almost the case with Ezra Levant and Mark Steyn up in Canada nearly 20 years ago. And as was the case with General Michael Flynn. Process is punishment. It's also a warning to anyone who has foolish notions of resisting.

If there's any good news, it's that the Zhou Bai-Din junta is going pedal to the metal in crippling our economy, opening our borders, destroying tens of thousands of jobs and foisting perversion, racialism, and complete societal dissolution on us. Frankly, the sooner we can get to Cloward-Piven and collapse the regime, the sooner we can pass through hell, and into a whole new hell.

So I was reading about captive primates where researchers attempt to communicate with gorillas. They compare the ability to that of a two-year old human.

While the ape can ask for things, no animal has yet asked a question. This goes into the Theory of Mind as born out of the Sally-Anne tests. The ape, like very young children, are not able to consider that people possess different faiths or may have knowledge that the other does not.

I'm in the knowledge and creative industry; this generation is unique in that I rarely hear someone ask a question that assumes another has knowledge. The only asks are akin to that of the ape or young child: Can I have this? Will you do that for me?

Yes! I see this so clearly even in the homeschool circles I run with. My daughter has learned to drive a manual transmission as part of her driver training. She's quite intelligent and autistic. She asked me while driving our automatic transmission car the other day "How does the transmission decide what gear to use?" It struck me that I know I asked a million questions as a child and mine certainly ask their share, but even as a teacher of multiple subjects, I don't hear these kinds of questions from young people today.

Huh, interesting observation -- hadn't noticed that.
With my teen, a common way he asks me about something by making a bold assertion and then waits for me to either agree or disagree and then explain why. Leads to good discussions because I know he's testing ideas out, not really believing what he initially says.

Some folks from reddit decided to fuck with them and got everyone to start buying shares, which caused a massive stock gain instead.

The Wall Street super geniuses reportedly had 140% of GameStop stock shorted. Reddit posters bought the hell out of the stock, pushing it from a few dollars to almost $100, and a major hedge fund lost over $2 billion-with-a-B dollars. It's completely hilarious and I am here for it.

I feel like there's a lesson here about the true power of message boards.

It's gotta be weird being a Game Stop executive. Being targeted by cynical hedge funds to crash the stock in order to cause a creditor crisis (most public firms borrow with stock as de facto collateral) so they can then use a PE firm (or their own PE division) to buy the company at distressed prices is nothing new. This may be the first time something like this has happened, though - it's usually one guy going up against the hedge fund for his own purposes.

Their board room probably looks shell-shocked right now.

Mine isn't the best understanding of it since most of what I know about it is from here and the Zero Hedge articles, but I think it boils down to:

1. Some hedge fund types short sold a bunch of GameStop (GME) shares, i.e. they think it's overpriced so they sell shares they don't have and pay the bill later when the price drops.
2. The internet found out about it and--being big fans of video games--decided to do something about it by shouting from the rooftops that everyone should buy GME and screw over the hedge funds (price goes up, short sellers lose).
3. Word gets out, more billionaires get involved on both sides, share price and volume go totally bonkers.

So basically it's like the end of Trading Places except the market positions are reversed. At least that's what the internet crowd is hoping for, because the Wall Street side hasn't been forced to cover the short yet.

Naked shorting (shorting a stock where you can't find any shares to borrow) is fraud. It's allowed for some reason, but it's fraud nonetheless. If they shorted 140% of the stock, then at least 60% of the short was probably naked (since not all shares will be available for shorting anyway). Where the fuck is the SEC?

Oh, I am sure they're pleased with portfolio performance, but this is fucking weird and they know it. As far as I know, something like this hasn't happened before. Usually when a company is being used as a pawn in a short-vs-long scheme, it is one power (or asymmetrical consortium) on each side - not a crowd on one side and one power on the other.

it hit I think around $240 after hours last night. Now the after hours market is thinly traded normally so you can't take too much "stock" in those prices. But this GME thing has been going on for several days, even more really I know on Monday it went from around $80 to twice that, and then back down. Some people made a shitload and some lost a lot too. ANd i am only talking longs here.

Any stock being targeted by a politically-connected party (short or long - it doesn't matter) that gets disrupted by a crown has a circuit breaker trip and trading is halted until the politically-connected party and the regulators can work out a solution that benefits the correct actors.

Then again, there is a place for it and the idea that anyone who goes short is somehow "bad" is illogical. You didn't say that but the general idea that is getting spread around is incorrect.

I am not an anti-shorter. Shorting an equity is not immoral on its face and honest short sellers keep the market honest by profit-taking on declines. Shorting is a normal part of a healthy market and I am not opposed to it.

Naked shorting, though - shorting a stock where you couldn't get a borrow - is fraud. That it is tolerated at all is indicative of the rot in our capital markets. Shorting something you don't have should be forbidden.

That's the thing, there is no basis for laying criminal charges against Trump as a private citizen, because nothing he said or did was criminal. Saying the election was stolen was not illegal (legally, Trump was just expressing his opinion), and it was not "incitement to riot" -- especially when Trump made a point of asking people to protest the stolen election peacefully.

So they are left with impeachment, which has much looser legal standards, but is only an option for a current federal office-holder, which Trump is not.

So there is no legitimate way to prosecute Trump for the events of 1/6. Hence, the crooked Dims will just ignore the laws and the constitution and do what they always do -- which is make up new rules and do whatever the f*ck they want to do.

very true. I don't see how they do it but then again, there is always a way I suppose. The other issue is what happens when their is no more stock available to short? these crazy moves can work both ways. We saw it Monday in this stock and we saw it in Beyond Meat yesterday. It is all fun an games until someone gets hurt. My advice is tread lightly and if you really want to gamble, take a win and move one. This will not end well. Reminds me of the Overland Campaign in the Civil War. Both sides ended up bloodied in the end.

Some places simply cannot be contested. Kim Klacik was a hero, I thought she was awesome, and she got huge national attention and money poured into her campaign.

And yet she fared worse in the general election than she had in the special election when she had no coverage or backing. It was a feel good thing, hey, the pretty black lady is on our side, but ultimately, she could not make a dent in the Democrat machine where she lived. It would have been heartening to see her gain even 5 points but not how it worked out.

I saw something similar when I worked at in a mobile phone retail shop.

The place went from "flex accounts" that was essentially a glorified pre-paid system to regular accounts overnight for everyone. Most of the people who used the "flex accounts" in my store could only keep their phones on because they had to pre-pay. Once it went to regular accounts, a bunch of people started getting delinquent in their bills and a few of them got to the point of just being canceled outright.

These were people who had maintained the flex accounts for literally years, descending to having their phones turned off in months simply because they could use it a few weeks without paying.

Also-- Gamers tend to be very good at finding exploits. Games are computer based, which means they have rules, and if you can figure out how to stack rules on top of each other you can absolutely break the game. They tend to approach other problems this way, too, looking for exploits and approaches nobody has considered in order to win. Beating puzzles built by someone else for years or decades trains creative problem solving.

AMC was the most important car company of the 1990s. Their big problem was that they were doing their thing in the 1980s and losing money hand over fist. They saved Chrysler with the Jeep Grand Cherokee (which was nearly done when Chrysler bought AMC) and they also invented the car that now dominates every automotive market segment: the "crossover." The Eagle broke the trail. It was a slightly taller station wagon with AWD. Economical, roomy and capable in snow and on terrain without being a real off-roader.

AMC invented the big luxury SUV (Grand Cherokee) and the Crossover (Eagle). They were just early. Extremely innovative, though. And they saved Chrysler's ass after the acquisition (credit shared with the Grand Caravan).

good point. that is something I thought about when all these retail stores started dropping them. As I recall, the retail stores got one generic size and that was it. This might have changed over the years, but you had to call them back in the day to get the size that fit your body.

I removed SF from a town I will ever visit. I think a lot of people should remove that dump too. I never got the allure and at least now it has been quadruplely confirmed I was right.

I know, right? It's almost as fun as not being able to own anything more expensive than our Xboxes because the price tags on everything tangible far outstrips what our "decent" corporate jobs are willing to pay us.

At least I got a big leg up in life by having non-retarded, actually still married to each other boomer parents and an aptitude for STEM. A lot of millennials had no guiding force in their life other than TV and the internet and walked right into a lifetime of debt as soon as they exited puberty...total lost generation.

I blame the tech lords, personally. Early Silicon Valley was legit as hell, but by the mid 1990s the industry was already becoming a haven for former child prodigy types that are incredibly book-smart but have the emotional maturity of a middle school student. My realization of this has gone a long way toward demystifying why Big Tech does a lot of what it does.
