The Saturday Night Joke

A young blonde woman was driving through the Florida Everglades while on vacation. She wanted to take home a pair of genuine alligator shoes in the worst way, but was very reluctant to pay the high prices the local vendors were asking.

After becoming very frustrated with the attitude of one of the shopkeepers, the young Blonde declared, "Well then, maybe I'll just go out and catch my own alligator and get a pair of shoes for free!"

The shopkeeper said with a sly smile, "Well, little lady, why don't you go on and give it a try?"

The blonde headed off to the swamp, determined to catch an alligator.

Later in the day, as the shopkeeper was driving home, he spotted the same young woman standing waist deep in the murky water, with a gun in her hand. As he brought his car to a stop, he saw a huge 9-foot gator swimming rapidly toward her. With lightning reflexes, the blonde took aim, shot the creature and hauled it up onto the slippery bank.

Nearby were 7 more dead gators, all lying belly up.

The shopkeeper stood on the bank, watching in silent amazement. The blonde struggled mightily and managed to flip the gator onto its back. Rolling her eyes heavenward, she screamed in frustration :

"HECK! THIS ONE'S BAREFOOT, TOO!"

When you're hitting up the valu-rite be careful not to drink and drive. Not only are you risking your life and others. It can be pretty costly.

Aside from the obvious danger, getting behind the wheel while drunk can be one of the costliest financial mistakes you’ll ever make. A first-time DUI costs an average of $6,500 per driver, although that can easily climb up to $30,000, depending on a few factors. Here’s a look at how a DUI affects your wallet.

Why DUI costs vary
If your first DUI involves a high blood alcohol concentration (BAC) or an accident, then your total cost will be higher than other first DUI offenses. Where you live matters, too—some states have minimum fines for first offenders that are closer to $1500 (Oregon, Alaska, Utah) and other states have minimums that cost $0 (Illinois, Indiana, Missouri), according to Finder.com. Your age is also a factor, both for what is an unacceptable BAC (some states have “zero tolerance” laws for drivers under 21, which means they can be charged for a lower BAC than the typical threshold of 0.0 and for potential insurance costs.

#BelieveAllWomen?

A married teacher claims she could not have had sex with a pupil as she is too short for the position in question.

Kandice Barber, 35, is accused of performing a sex act on the 15-year-old boy, who has not been named, and having sex with him while standing up.

Amersham Law Courts heard that she had already been convicted at a trial in September last year of sending a video to the boy, showing her pleasuring herself while on a bed surrounded by sex toys, and sexually communicating with the complainant.

The complainant, who is now 18 appeared by video link, claims that he also met Barber for sexual activity on three occasions.

An interesting defense. I wonder if the defendant will "take the stand"?

When my little tax exemptions lived at home they heard repeatedly, "For every action there is an equal reaction." If you attempt to form a union you can be looking for a job.

Instacart is laying off every employee who voted to unionize, Motherboard reports. The news comes as the company shuts down in-store operations at some grocery stores amid the coronavirus pandemic and doubles down on curbside pickups.

The layoffs impact 10 unionized workers at a grocery store called Mariano’s, in addition to other Instacart employees. The group in Skokie, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, voted to unionize last year with the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1546 (UFCW). It was a landmark victory for gig workers and represented “the first time employees of tech companies that rely predominantly on contract labor have formed a union to collectively bargain for better wages, benefits, and working conditions,” according to my colleague Nick Statt.

Employees were in the process of negotiating their first contract when news of the layoffs hit. “These layoffs are totally discouraging for any gig workers who are trying to do something to make these jobs better,” one unionized worker told Motherboard. They said they were fighting for health insurance and vacation time in their initial contract

Do you suppose the parents of Daniel Mark Wright and Christian Olson ever heard from their teachers, "If only they would apply themselves."

Daniel Mark Wright and Christian Olson are allegedly part of a criminal syndicate
LEHI, Utah — He was really getting into the part.

A Utah man wanted for a string of crimes was arrested after stealing a donut from a 7-Eleven while dressed as a cop, police said.

Officers in Lehi ended up tracking down Daniel Mark Wright, 47, after getting a call from a convenience store clerk who said a man wearing a “sheriff’s deputy” jacket had stolen a donut earlier in the day and left in a white Ford truck.

After looking at surveillance video, the cops tracked the truck down at a nearby motel, where the manager led them to Wright’s room.

As many of you know, I'm I was a big Green Bay Packers fan. Heck they are playing to go to the Super Bowl. Well, if they make it, the stadium will be less than capacity.

The NFL has set its attendance cap for Super Bowl LV in Tampa, and it will include thousands of vaccinated healthcare workers who will be given free tickets to see the game. Adam Schefter reports that 22,000 fans will be allowed into Raymond James Stadium on February 7, including 7,500 healthcare workers.

Screw the NFL and Roger Goodell sideways with a barbwired pineapple sideways.

A professional Peeping Tom only gets 5 years in prison. It seems like a light sentence to me.

A former employee of prominent home security company ADT has admitted that he hacked into the surveillance feeds of dozens of customer homes, doing so primarily to spy on naked women or to leer at unsuspecting couples while they had sex.

Telesforo Aviles, 35, pleaded guilty to a count of computer fraud in federal court this week, confessing that he inappropriately accessed the accounts of customers some 9,600 times over the course of several years. He is alleged to have done this to over 200 customers.

Authorities say that the IT technician “took note of which homes had attractive women, then repeatedly logged into these customers’ accounts in order to view their footage for sexual gratification.” He did this by adding his personal email address to customer accounts, which ultimately hooked him into “real-time access to the video feeds from their homes.”

Aviles, who now faces up to five years in prison, sometimes “claimed he needed to add himself temporarily in order to ‘test’ the system; in other instances, he added himself without their knowledge,” officials said.

I too thought that songs I heard on the radio were live because, dang it, that's how it used to be. Bob Wills and the boys would stand before one microphone and take turns being closest to it.

Bob owned a few radio stations and when the Texas Playboys finished a tour and were dog tired, he'd march them into the studio and record the Tiffany transcripts when they knew the music inside and out that he'd play on his stations to promote future tours.

Bob had a major alcohol problem that caused him to dry out in the middle of a tour. Whenever you hear Bob screaming "ah ha" more than usual, he was on a major bender and close to a meltdown. Great musician and band leader though...

If all the folks that lost jobs learn to code, won't that impact all the H1(b)s (darlings of the mega corps and the left)?

Wait, I know:

1) Fed funds to pay folks to learn to code.
2) Fed assistance to companies to hire learn to code folks
3) Fed unemployment pay for those that lose their jobs because of oversupply
4) Cycle starts over
5) Profit!!

And it brings up a good point, er, idea. Here's my suggestion for the future. Anytime, anywhere, no matter the crowd size, someone begins to carp about any federal Dem actions, hold up your hand and say "Who did YOU vote for in 2020?"

If they dissemble in any way, remind them that they can lie to you, but cannot lie to themselves. If they didn't do anything within their power to stop this shit, they have only the mirror to answer to.

We may not have much pull in the 'media', but we can and should force them to face themselves. Maybe within a year or two NO ONE will admit to voting for Dems due to shame.

No. A hot chick that I have been going out with on and off for a little while called me up and invited me to get a pedicure with her.

I'm not exactly the pedicure type, but I figured what the heck.

It started off alright, they put your feet in hot water, that's nice. They trimmed up my nails a lot better than what I woulda done (I usually just clip em in the living room and then try to vacuum up the trimmings).

Then this Asian woman took a cheese grater to the bottom of my feet. I've got a tickle reflex real bad and I was talking with the hottie and not paying attention when the Asian woman hit my tickle spot and my leg convulsed and kicked her in her chest and knocked her off her stool.

She was a good sport, she just laughed and went back to work with her cheese grater. I left her a good tip.

So I guess Porier gets my support! No wonder Irish folks are so pissed off all the time - I would be too if I had to drink Irish whiskey.

But I'd still take an old fashioned made with Irish whiskey any day over that Wisconsin abomination made with brandy. Sorry Mis Hum -- you know I consider you a friend, but I gotta agree with CBD's earlier comments.

400 The Biden's fired him. The obfuscation is deep.

"Timothy Harleth, the Trumps' chief usher and a former rooms manager of the Trump International Hotel in Washington, was busy moving furniture on Inauguration Day when he was told at 11.30am that his services were no longer needed, people familiar with the process said.

The incoming president's counsel called the White House counsel on Wednesday, according to a person familiar with the process, and said the Bidens planned to bring in their own person. Harleth's departure was first reported by CNN."

Trump was gone at 11:30 and the Bidens planned to bring their own. There's an answer to the question in those words.

I think Steely Dan ( which sound like Elevator Muzak to me) did a lot of layering in their songs, whereas Jimi, the Dead, WHo, etc just got out there and gave it hell with the same instruments they used in the studio.

I think Led Zeppelin said they couldn't play When the Levee Breaks in concert, because some of it was recorded in a stairwell, in able to get a certain sound.

454 There is nothing like being at a live concert. The crowd is as much a part of the music as the people on stage. When the audience is caught up in the performance, it elevates the music. There have been a few concerts I have been at that were just so memorable, I can remember the energy. I saw Bob Marley at the Music Hall in Boston. I saw Janis Joplin in a college auditorium. The moment Robert Daltry came out on stage and starting swinging the mike around, everything just goes away and you get lost int he music.
I love classical music too. The ballet. I alwasy wonder how it is that music affects us the way it does. What it is about human beings that we respond to sounds in the way we do.It must be getting late or I;ve drunk too much wine tonight.

On the plus side, I know others have had horrific stories, but I've been fortunate to never have a really bad experience at a Motel 6. And their prices really are competitive. I think it helps though that I've always stayed in rural areas; not much competition and those locations are rarely very busy, so managers probably have more time for maintenance.

466 MisHum - it depends on the performer, style, nature of the event, etc. Also, some songs should be played the way they are on the album -- "Living After Midnight" by Priest, for instance. Perfect solo for that song. Leave it alone. In fact, Glenn Tipton said that a lot of their audience want many of their songs played the way they are (albeit juiced up for a concert with 10,000 heavy metal maniacs), so while Priest are capable of stretching out, they could only get away with it on certain songs. I love it when a band has several ways to play a song and they change it up.

When coming down from Portland, I hit the Fred Meyer in Medford (for 1/2 tank), then go down to Susanville for the evening, then hit the gas stations in the Minden area (which seem to have the cheaper gas) and drop down to Lancaster (where my sister's family is). I only have to eat CA prices when I gas up down there (and there's a nearby CostCo, so I can take advantage of that).

The last year I was living in Susanville, a friend and I drove up to Lassen Park as they were showing how they cleared snow off the park road. They led us up to the working face on Diamond Mr. sidehill. The snow was 27 feet deep at that point. They were estimating that the snow was about 60 feet deep up around Lake Helen. Probably north-bound, time of day/weather (would have been winter, en route to Reno for x-c skiing in the Sierras), anyway, yeah expensive but didn't get that much. And had a nice chat with the guy in the store about fish, the lake in view across the road, snow pack and water levels and fishing, etc.

Minden does have the cheapest gas in that part of NV, it seems. And quite a few small firearms companies (I know of 2 that moved there from SoCal).

Manzanar was an interesting stop (much like the Hiroshima "Peace" - atomic bomb - Museum, my review - "not as bad as I expected"). Knowing something about the subject will 1) insulate you from being misled 2) increase your fury at some crap that's there. But if you look closely and think, there are some revealing and amusing contradictions that are breadcrumbs towards the truth.

617 If I haven't talked up Lassen Park already, this thread, I'll do so now. It's probably the least known of the major national parks and undeservedly so. If you ever have the opportunity to visit, do so. I first was there as a child around 1966, and have had a love affair with the park ever since. The area known as the Devastated Area is well worth looking at. The first time I was there, about 50 years after the major eruption, it was still pretty devastated. The last time, about a century after, not so much. Life finds a way.

618 Greatest Southern band: Black Oak Arkansas, but only on their self-titled album. Their later stuff was way overproduced.
Now, if you're going by level of musicianship, then the Allman Brothers, but if you're going by pure dirty, nasty Southern boogie, BOA/BOA.

Mono Lake is the big alkaline lake near Lee Vining. It's similar to Walker Lake in nearby Nevada, with no drainage out of it, so the minerals build up so bad, all the fish die off.
Minden, NV is a very sweet spot. I use that airport as a refuel spot when I'm flying SOCAL to Idaho. Great people. The Minden Valley would be the place to live, if you were gonna live in Nevada.

635 I also assessed NV as a fairly easy Trump pick-up. He lost it by 26K votes in '16. As Jimmy says, I think he'd have major traction and improvement even in the Dem stronghold of Clark County, among "traditional" Dem segments (as he did, dramatically elsewhere). And a monster vote everywhere else.

I suspect he did. The disaster in Clark may surpass - at least in crudeness and brazenness - that of Wayne County and Philadelphia, or Fulton County. It's received very little attention, but had every sign of being a very, very, very insecure election process (geek speak for major, systematic fraud). Ballots piled up all over town (many photographic essays on this), local TV journo got 5 of 6 improperly filed ballots counted, whistleblower insiders* described abandonment of signature verification process.

636 I'll research Minden, NV. I'm going to move out of Galveston to somewhere more secure.

East Central TX is my primary search. But I'll go elsewhere for freedom and affordable ground.

Fifteen to Twenty Five acres will be my goal. With access to electric, and achievable water and installable septic.

Limestone TX Hill Country is right out, because of cost of drilling and septic. Love the land, hate the costs.

Galveston Island is a Blue City in a Red County. It is the County Seat. But it's also about 27 miles long and averaging 2.5 miles wide. Has two bridges (causeways) for access, and one ferry crossing. Racial Harmony has never been a thing here, either. I could easily be trapped like a rat, in an instant.

I need acreage, outbuildings, shop spaces and space to shoot and even to hunt. Postage stamp residential lot here ain't even a pimple on those ambitions.

Might be. But a quarter mil cash in the bank ready to buy NOW, will be worth about HALF that by the end of 2021, if all signs prove true.

Ready cash needs to be converted into land or gold ASAP, in my estimation. Inflation is going to be THAT much of a bitch.

646 Captain Obvious,
If you stay away from McCall city itself, things are still reasonable. I know of an 0.8 acre lot, with plumbed water service, in a developed golf course community that sold for $40k during this summer season, during the peak of the frenzy.
Open country, like what Jim SND wants, is about $10k and acre if there are basic utilities and road acess to it. Less if more basic ranches.

The water up here is perfect and sweet and plentiful.

Lots of the pioneer ranching families are getting old, ranch properties are selling, and deeded to not get chopped up for housing developments.

Thing is, my capital is almost entirely in my house/property.

Sure, in Portland, it's north of 400k, but how do I get to use that to get a property that (apparently) does not yet have a house on it?

648 Fuel prices have jumped more than sixty cents per gallon, since 3 Nov. No signs of slowing the ascent, either. Pre Stolen Election, I was planning to buy a Class A motorcoach. Now? I'll settle for a singlewide on the acreage, while I work as my own General Contractor to build the house, proper.

Will barely be budget for fuel for the building. Won't be none for fuel for the road.

650 JIM, Yep,
Get a copy of When Money Dies if you can. 1920-1930 Weimar Germany.
The only way to stay ahead was to convert useless cash into real assets daily.
That's why the German Industries built up so massively, so quickly. They converted cash into bigger factories constantly.
The farmers did ok, because they could price any food at today's rate.
That was another thing that got the Germans to hate the Jewish people. They were largely merchants, who would buy things from desperate city folk, mostly to get ris of the cash.

Install the utilities, plonk a decent but old RV or mobile home on it, and build with a fury.

Two years at the most, you have a new home, and you sell the old hovel at not much of a loss. And also have a full wired and plumbed "RV Pad" to welcome various visitors and guests.

672 If Bushmills is the Protestant Whisky as so many Irish in America, not Ireland think. You have to admit that Bourbon and Scotch are mostly rotestant Whiskies too.

There has been a lot written about the Bushmill's = Protestant and Jameson = Catholic myth/idea.. There has been debunking by both distilleries adn that info is readily at hand on Al Gore's internet.

I personally would take a good Scotch or Bourbon first but there is a place for the Irish stuff. The history there is interesting if anyone wants to look into it. It was not long ago when they had very few distilleries in Ireland. . No doubt Irish Whiskey is booming and has been booming for five or more years.

674 i would say East Texas is the most conservative part of the state. Not every part of course but for sure there is a large area that that is the classic Bible Belt. As for the rugged individualism variety, the Goldwater stuff, I would say go for West Texas, with certain cities excepted.

South Texas could be interesting as certain counties seem to have woken up and turned on the Dems. Really, getting out of the big cities seems the best play. And certain areas that are near big cities, and used to be rural are now going more blue than Red. That is happening everywhere in this country unfortunately. If you are in Texas at all, you are ahead of most.

when people ask me where I want to live. I used to say San Diego in the early 70s. Now I would never choose CA but the point stands. My favorite places are defined by a grid cord and a date. And that date is no where near 2021.

Hey, school us about ammo, who are the best mfrs for 5.56 and 7.62?

I want the good stuff and, as with whores, coke, and cars, I am willing to pay for it.

In the early 70s, our friends moved down to Rancho Bernardo, near Escondido. Behind their house was nothing but mud and the streets prepared for the houses to come. As kids, we wandered out amongst the mud, and climbed down into the storm drains that had been prepared for the people to come...

692 I don't recall AW being a big thing in my childhood. We had some in certain locales but they were never a community gathering spot like they were in small towns and certain other areas. I think our equivalent was Dairy Queen or maybe Orange Julius.

I was never a root beer fan so that could have been a factor. The only root beer I really liked was Frostie. I think it was the santa claus they had on their logo.

Now to add A and W rootbeer, to be served in an iced mug, to the shopping list.

I liked the root beer floats and Coke floats we had as kids. They were called Ice Cream Socials or something. Fun times there.

But to be honest, I never thought much of root beer. Real beer yah, but not root beer. I mentioned Frostie before, the other good root beer was IBC. For whatever reason I didn't think much of AW, the drink, not the restaurant.

712 The golfer Justin Thomas is now going into counseling/reeducating treatment because he said the F word after he missed a putt. No, not that F word, the other one. I defended the guy because he was was known as a good guy and people in many sports loved him for his quick whit. It has been pretty noticeable that none of his friends like Tiger, Barkley, and other PGA Tour players defended him. Ralph Lauren dropped him and said he needed re education. I thought that was a joke but no, that is exactly what he is going to get.

i am not anti gay at all. I say live and let live. Now for this world they place on us where we can only think one way about every subject, F that. But I have nothing against gays.

Posted by: Quint at January 24, 2021 05:51 AM (Rt/LJ)

713 What scares me is how fast our society has moved, not to tolerance,
but fascism. In the 80s the hard lefty Sean Penn said "those guys are
fags". He was lauded for that and even today it is considered an iconic
scene in movie history. In Super Bad, they talked about things being
"gay". Again, everyone loves Superbad and Jonah Hill.

This
golfer in 2021 says a word, not directed to anyone but himself and he
is to be ruined. They wont ruin him because he can make them so much
money, but he needs to go through the cleaning they did with people in
Communist China.

Posted by: Quint at January 24, 2021 05:51 AM (Rt/LJ)

714 so now he is going to go through training, just like Ralph Lauren said he should do. Forget that thousands of NBA, NFL, and whatever players have said the same and worse. . But this is just not America. American's don't go through re education for saying a bad word. The guy apologized profusely. But that is not enough these days. He has to go through re education. Something about this scares me.

719 maybe I am the only one who cares about this, it happens. It is just an example of what they are going to do to all of us for wrong think or even a poorly worded comment. What kills me is Tiger, Barkley and others did not defend the guy. They are scared like everyone I guess. Again. not anti gay and I have proven that. I am anti liberal fascist though. What really kills me is the people on the right and left that thought stupid apps were going to make the world a better place. Yeah, good call there, this society today sucks ass and there isn't even a good reason. Anyone who studies history will laud the Middle Ages compared to today. These are the Stupid Ages.

720 First news I read on the MFM early this am (before I go back to bed). Biden has redone the Oval Office. Got rid of the smell and added all new drapes. Shows him sitting at the all most totally empty desk. Probably is empty as they took away his toys before the picture was snapped.
