Saturday Morning Coffee Break

My-New-Years-Goals.jpg

(Day 16, so far, so good.)

***

Yeah, it's an old story. But, hey it's coffee and not other shit.

***

Good morning Morons. Opine, bloviate, sing the blues in this open thread. Be kind to the 'ettes, they make us sammiches. No running with sharp objects and observe the golden rule. Besides that chat among yourselves and have a great weekend.

I found the HQ in 2006 or so. I commented for a while, then only read posts, then disconnected completely for a while. Then found it again, and I'm still a daily reader of posts. It's funny how things cycle, especially when family responsibilities change. I do hope some folks find their way back, at least for an occasional update. But I totally understand taking breaks, especially complete internet breaks, for one's sanity and real life.

The reason I ask is based on his appearance on Life Liberty and Levin where he stated that DJT, by self funding his campaign (this was in 2017) was unique in terms of not being under the sway of the big money knobs who play both sides and could actually honor his campaign promises.

He was the only person who stated that so bluntly and frankly I can't imagine anyone saying that doing a 180.

I don't know what test you're thinking off. Biden will be inaugurated as President. The test if he can stay awake, speak coherently and not shit himself for several hours on TV? They'll do all they can to stagecraft it so the odds are minimal, and even if he does...so what? He'll still be president, even if he's (more) of a drooling vegetable.

Same with all this hope about Trump releasing classified documents. NOTHING Trump can release will stop the inauguration. At best, they'll impeach Biden (or whoever) is identified in the documents.

The Normans were major asskickers in the Crusades too. They kicked the muz out of Sicily. States can deploy troops outside of their states?
Posted by: blaster at January 16, 2021 09:28 AM

States deploy troops to other states all the time, but almost always because they were asked. There's a formal process that a state can request assistance from other states, and legal protections that allow the assisting personnel (NG, police, fire, etc) to provide support even though they don't have the normally required State certifications and such.

Multiple states provide troops every time there's an inauguration...not sure how much is for security, but a lot is just directing people where they need to go and the tons of other mundane tasks in managing hundreds of thousands of people attending an event.

There's a great 2 hour documentary about the Normans I found - they were even more active than you think. They conquered Sicily, and they were the shock troops for the Crusades that were successful.

The Vikings that moved to Normandy found, like everyone else since, that French girls were a lot of fun, and that's why all their children grew up speaking old French, not old Norse. And the Normans, as they conquered places, always chose to assimilate and blend in with the peoples they conquered, which is why they gradually seemed to disapear. Like how the Norman Knights turned into English earls and lords. Or how Rollo the Fierce became Robert 1, Duke of Normandy.

197 Blaster Trump said in his video address last week he was calling up NG troops to protect Federal buildings in DcC for the transition. Would not say inauguration. He will be either in Fla or at Andrews on Wednesday. Any additional troops called up would be by the Mayor of DC and possibly the Gov of Va and Maryland. He said the SS had briefed him that groups were planning violent protests in DC and they will not be tolerated. My guess is the IC has overblown it but Trump is not taking a chance.

Funny you should ask. First hubby told a story of being small...around six...and in church. He developed a nosebleed and his mother took him out of the sanctuary to deal with it. He said a man followed them out. The man walked up to Dick's mother and said, "I am the seventh son of a seventh son. I can help." Then he put his hand on Dick's head and the nosebleed stopped instantly.

I loved Johnny Rivers' song.

253 103 We have been watching "The Durrells in Corfu" lately on PBS. Beautiful place, Corfu (never been there but the show makes it look lovely).
Posted by: Huck Follywood,

I've been there. It is beautiful. Off the west coast of Greece and Albania. Clear blue water, mountains, lots of olive trees, cheap beer, great food, no sandy beaches (lots of pebbles though).

Once again for the Saturday morning crew:

The Second Official AoSHQ Classical Music Playlist of Reactionary Insurrection and Sedition (TM) is complete and can be viewed here:

http://soyaraborzoi.com/Playlist2.htm

There are 800 pieces by 800 different composers. About 90% are new over the first playlist and the ones duplicated are the warhorse pieces you'd wonder why they were missing. So if you have the first playlist you're getting all sorts of new stuff and if you don't you're hearing a lot of good music.

Same deal as before. Write me at monsalvat 61 at g mail dot com if you want a flash drive with all these tracks. And, again, I can't accept anything for this service, thanks for offering.

I make no great claims for my insight or taste but I think previous recipients will testify to the quality of this endeavor.

259 > Trump calling up so many makes the transition like a coup.

Barricades, barbed-wire, National Guard, etc. Failure theater on a grand scale. It's for the MAGA people, a message to "cool it or lose it."

The optics of Biden taking the oath of office behind those barriers will be spun so that he "had" to do it because MAGA = domestic terrorism and OrangeManBad. It ain't hard to figure out what comes next.

260 Not in this thread, but in the next few days, I'd like to see a kind of bingo or deadpool list of actions we think we'll see in the first, say, 100 days of Biden's administration. EOs, bills signed, etc. I've seen a few i think are too crazy (expand the size of SCOTUS), some I think will happen (free tuition at community college), and some I think will result in Democrat failure theater (Medicare for all). Maybe a bracket we can make predictions on and see who wins (by America losing)

268 Hey y'all, I am changing my AoSHQ nic to "Oddbob" (no space, no CamelCase). 1) The Bob the Builder reference is dated, 2) somehow conspiracy theories just aren't as funny to me as they once were, and 3) oddly enough, joking about the Bilderbergs actually seems to make a few folks uncomfortable. Also, I'm just kind of tired of it.

With the COBs permission, or at least tolerance, I will copy/paste this a few times over the next few days in the threads that I tend to comment in -- books, food, guns -- and note the change in the nic below for a week or so.

I can't say I'm onboard with the butter in coffee flavor yet. I tried a dash of cinnamon today and that helped. Maybe this is where flavored coffees come in handy.

278 For being a relatively simple process, I have screwed up making coffee just about every way possible. In addition to the one you mention, I have 1) not put water in the tank, 2) walked away without pushing the start button, 3) put whole beans in the basket, and 4) put ground beans in the basket without a filter.

Ever forget to put the pot back under the dripping coffee so the coffee drips all over the counter?

279 There's no words of wisdom I can offer, no plan, no words of comfort to counter this...

What do you mean no plan?

Everyone knows that the markets are vastly overpriced because a lot of money is chasing few assets, and with the influx of trillions of dollars in helicopter money, that is going to get far worse...

Or will it?

I was encouraged to see that Project Veritas has shown us that brilliant people within these corrupt organizations are on a mission. These are the people that are, like me, working on projects that will replace the corrupt ones that exist - this time with new ideas, better techniques, and without the tech debt of previous platforms.

We are building it better - Right Now.

Expect SPACs to go crazy in the next few months as we start opening up these new platforms to investors begging to be on the ground floor of a business that doesn't eliminate 80+ million customers.

thx for that description, good way to describe much of it. The other big distinction, selective prosecution. Their actual crimes (coup, antifa, BLM, real fires, real terror, BigTech anti-speech crimes) are excused (or even praised), Trump's peaceful rallies are deemed terrorist. Pure fabrication of "evidence", while real evidence of their crimes (election fraud, Biden business with China/Ukraine) all just swept under the rug, if not destroyed.

They are above the law, in our face lawlessness ... not much need for "administrative law" for them. But it is useful in the kangaroo courts where they punish the patriots for thought crimes.

A couple of years ago we were using one of those shared office spaces (e.g. WeWork) while our offices were getting remodeled. I walked in one morning and there's a guy standing there staring at his phone while coffee is running into the Keurig's catch pan. Without breaking stride, I picked a styro cup off the table and stuck it in place. Then went and sat down and watched him. He kind of got a puzzled look at his half cup of coffee but just made himself another and never noticed what had happened.

of course after a year or two it will have to moved up to $100 trillion per month, and then a quadrillion. after that, Congress will just vote to lop 3 zeroes off the prices of everything every month, just like Zimbabwe and Venezuela before them.

459 There's something weird in the CDC/Covid death data.

Worldometer is showing far more Covid deaths in December ~2700/day than back in April ~2200/day

But the CDC total deaths back in April peaked at ~79,000. December total deaths look like they will come in more like ~72,000 when it is complete.

So either too few Covid deaths were counted back then, or too many are being counted now. Or some combination.

Well this does not seem to happen. They get PR assistance and learn how to lie better than they did before. They give their sassy speeches to an empty floor filled with cameras and this gets transmitted back home. Aren't they bold and brave? No.
But even donks like AOC and conservatives like Gowdy come in bright and burning and become wax like everyone else in DC.

498 I don't post enough or interesting stuff to be missed but I'm trying to pull back from all SM, even AoS, and some of the doom and cw2 wishcasting plus attacks has made it easy on some threads/days. Back to trying to declutter this place. Wed I took a mental health PTO day at work and while poking at clutter in the garage found some dime-store novels from when dad was still trucking. So that evening I read #83 of the Remo Williams series for a few hours. Haven't quite finished it. It was nice, just reading sinaju super human ability fantasy for a few hours, but my neck was unhappy, ergonomics weren't as good as the monitor.

499 It's weird because once Biden becomes Preezy, I think two contradictory things can happen.

One, there's so much money outside of the market right now. That it all comes into the market and we see a huge "melt-up" in prices. The big boys make a lot of money and then when the Democrat policies kick in and prices crash, staying down for a long while.

Two, prices crash almost at the gate of Biden's Preeziship on the basis of what the Democrats have promised and what they'll certainly do over time.

I lean more toward one than two, but heck, who knows?

I know the Democrat brain trust likes the idea of inflation cuz then they can pay off the Chinese with "cheap" money, but for that to work, they have to be so brilliant as to not Venezuela us in the process.

Let's just say, I'm tired of living in interesting times.

508 Muldoon or Aviator or anyone else who might know, I have a serious question that I can't find an answer to. Maybe you can opine?

Are the antibodies that your body produces from a vaccine somehow superior to the ones your body produces from having the virus itself? I ask because I saw an article that said the antibodies from the virus might protect you for up to five months. I'm presuming the vaccine makers are estimating a longer range of protection, but based on - what?

516 naturalfake. The huge size of the U.S. national debt has prevented the Federal Reserve from raising interest rates like they might otherwise have done, They don't want to bankrupt their boss. It will take Chyna et al to refuse to buy U.S. treasury bonds without higher yields to get that component of inflation going. But I guess if the cmmies push through $15 national minimum wage that is likely to get the ball rolling.

Because the public at large regards anything even mildly radioactive as Death poised to strike?

As regards disposal. Go to any landfill, or metal scrap yard now, and there are big radiation detectors scanning all the trucks. (border crossings, too) Residue from a medical procedure, mixed into regular trash, could set off one of those detectors, and result in the necessity of dumping the truck in some secure area, and isolating the radioactive stuff.

Some deaths have resulted from improper disposal of high-intensity rad sources.

Ok, I was a business major, not hard science, but doesn't my immune system find all kinds of viruses somehow appearing in my body, and then goes to work to fight it and win? Once in a while, the virus is new and the body can't quickly figure out what is going on, and I get sick with stuffy head, chest cold, fever, etc. But eventually it figures it out, and how to fight and get rid of it.
Why has this somehow changed with the Chinese-engineered Weapon virus?

I don't think we really know how long immunity lasts yet from either vaccine or infection. Length of immunity may be longer lasting after infection than a vaccine or vice versa. May also depend on how bad the infection was. It will also vary between vaccines since a vaccine presents a specific target protein to the immune system. The protein is chosen based on its ability to invoke a strong immune response, but different vaccines utilize different proteins. Also someone may not have measurable antibodies but have immune memory cells that mount a response to the virus in the future.

536 RE: 530 above.
The radiopharmaceutical injected for the stress test distributes in the body and the small amount of Technetioum 99 is excreted in the urine and bladder. The risk of cancer induction in the bladder is very low, not zero, but over 50 years is about 1/1,000,000 or so. The agent in the syringe is covered in a lead lined box to protect the radiology tech since they inject 10-15 patients per day for a career, and the risk for skin exposure is high over 25 years each day. Disposal is in special containers and the tech 99 half life is 7 hours so it is gone in a day or so. The health risks in landfills you describe my be from cobalt agents not disposed of properly, used in cancer treatments, and the half life can be thousands of years.

One of my brothers married a gal who was half-Japanese, half-American. Her dad was a Marine and an expert in logistics, with a very high clearance (he got called back in 1990 Iraq to run an overseas military depot that included nuclear materials) and wife was born in Hiroshima and was a child in WWII. She was out of town that day.
Father died of cancer a few decades ago, and her mom travels between west coast, Hawaii, and Japan, where the 3 sisters live.
She was always difficult for me to understand, but I got better listening to her. And truth be told, she was a saintly and smart woman, too. She gave me and Little LCD an open ear after wife died of cancer a decade ago.
Anyway, I understood this Japanese reporter fairly well, and attribute it to SIL's mom interactions.

Then the slave masters came back with the sack of our money we gave them in exchange for cheap shit, and bought our pols / country.

The USA came to the end of the progressive experiment in the 1970s. There should have been massive economic reform to undo the progressive agenda then. Instead, we put the bill on the credit card and hollowed out our economy to China.
