17 all large corporations have been giving money to Democrats forever

The Democrats became pro-corporate after Clinton. This only accelerated through the Davos-oriented rule of Barack Hussein Obama.

Corporations give equally to Democrats and Republicans, but use their prestige/propaganda powers only to help the left

Posted by: ace at January 11, 2021 05:44 PM (5+1A/)

18 And yet, we are still being told by many, even here, that we must 'be better' than the Dems.

The Republic has survived corrupt administrations many times before.

There seem to be some hopeful signs that OCrazyHo is "transitioning" from commie to corruptocrat. I don't imagine that Papa Lenin or Uncle Ho would be too impressed by her wearing $14,000 dresses.

244 This has all really come about through their ability to smear anyone that disagrees with them as Nazis (and now terrorist) and have the media, political class, entertainment and the corporations back them up. It isolates the intended victim and steamrollers their position.

They could be marching people into jail without trials, or denying people food at the stores, telling onlookers its OK because "they are Nazis" and they would (will) get away with it.

Of course it is stupid on the face of it, the most Nazi thing most of those people have done is drive a German car.

The GOP that quietly worked on their own deals while ignoring their voters being gored daily are now deservedly facing the same wrath. Welcome to the party pal.

New political groups, web sites or news orgs in opposition to the Corporate Marxists will be branded racist, denied funds and internet hosting.

We will be talking on the undernets, not through domain names, but using IP addresses passed on like the radio frequencies under the resistance when they cut 'nazi' sites from the DNS servers.

It is the power of this smear that must be taken from them, or combatted. Until then, nothing new will grow.

Republicans have historically supported big business because it could be argued that the business of America is business and that doing so benefited our people. But it should be clear at this point that big business - ostensibly American or not - is NOT a friend to Americans (Fuck 'em) and is perfectly happy shipping everything off to the China that will ultimately destroy them (and us) in order to get nice bonuses for their executives today. Since big business has abandoned us, kicking us to the curb in order to curry favor with the Chicoms and left wing fascists, it is time to jettison them as well in order to better represent the interests of Americans.

Now the head of NBC's entertainment division, whose name escapes me at the moment was a personal friend of OJ and told |Norm to stop making OJ jokes.

But Norm persisted. Finally the guy gave Norm an ultimatum. Make any more OJ jokes and your fired. Norm didn't stop and he was indeed fired.

Norm is basically regarded as a God among comedians, particularly the Late night show hosts, Letterman, Conan, etc. If those guys want to be legends, find some live airtime and empty the rhetorical reservoir.

He wants to set up a permanent human colony on mars in this decade. He's been kind of a bit iffy on whether or not he would be a benevolent dictator or not, but he has not made a secret out of his end goal.

We were always on the firing line and will always be on the firing line. Maybe Trump could have done things different. I am not sure how. Given the opposition from everyone surrounding him in DC, it is a damn miracle that he was able to do what he has done thus far. It is not like the man was or is stupid. To the best of his ability, he made corrections as he went along. In the end, though, it was always going to be up to us to defend our rights and take back this country.

A bill to enlist banks in the fight against gun crime

...planning to introduce a bill in Congress this morning that would require banks and other financial institutions to work with the government to help identify and report suspicious or illegal financial activity related to firearms.

The bill was inspired, in part, by Andrew Ross Sorkin's columns on the role that banks could play to help end gun violence.

"Banks, credit card companies, and retailers have unique insight into the behavior and purchasing patterns that can help identify and prevent mass shootings," Ms. Wexton said in a statement.

Here's how it would work: The bill, called the Gun Violence Prevention Through Financial Intelligence Act, would require the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, or FinCEN, to work with financial companies to develop a framework to identify suspicious firearms transactions. The bill says that if FinCEN determines that banks do not have enough data to identify suspicious activity, it "must submit a report to Congress detailing the process and identifying barriers to data collection."

443 How Banks Could Control Gun Sales if Washington Won't

The country's financial giants hold more sway over the gun industry than any politician. If banks and credit card companies were to stop doing business with gun shops that sell assault weapons, the supply of such firearms would be greatly reduced.

By Andrew Ross Sorkin
Feb. 19, 2018
For the past year, chief executives have often talked about the new sense of moral responsibility that corporations have to help their communities and confront social challenges even when Washington won't.

Here's an idea.

What if the finance industry - credit card companies like Visa, Mastercard and American Express; credit card processors like First Data; and banks like JPMorgan Chase and Wells Fargo - were to effectively set new rules for the sales of guns in America?

471 For example, Visa, which published a 71-page paper in 2016 espousing its "corporate responsibility," could easily change its terms of service to say that it won't do business with retailers that sell assault weapons, high-capacity magazines and bump stocks, which make semiautomatic rifles fire faster. (Even the National Rifle Association has said it would support tighter restrictions on bump stocks.)

There is precedent for banks barring customers from using their credit cards for certain purchases: JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup and Bank of America do not allow their cards to be used to buy virtual currencies.

If Mastercard were to do the same, assault weapons would be eliminated from virtually every firearms store in America because otherwise the sellers would be cut off from the credit card system.

There is precedent for credit card issuers to ban the purchase of completely legal products. Just this month, JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup and Bank of America banned the use of their cards to buy Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

Not just that -- Shapiro likes to lead the deplatform mob from the right, such as his attacks on Michelle Malkin.

Shapiro's shtick is that he is ideologically pure because he is willing to call out conservatives. The problem is, he only calls out conservatives for badspeech. He always manages to find a reason defend the free speech of jerks on the Left.

529 If Visa and Mastercard are unwilling to act on this issue, the credit card processors and banks that issue credit cards could try. Jamie Dimon, chief executive of JPMorgan Chase, which issues credit cards and owns a payment processor, has talked about how he and his bank have "a moral obligation but also a deeply vested interest" in helping "solve pressing societal challenges." This is your chance, Mr. Dimon.

And here's a variation on the same theme: What if the payment processing industry's biggest customers - companies like McDonald's, Starbucks, Apple, Amazon, AT&T, CVS and others that regularly talk about "social responsibility" - collectively pressured the industry to do it? There's a chance that some of the payment processors would stop handling gun sales. Perhaps their voices would help push one of the banks to step out and lead?

At least two executives said a reason that they haven't been more outspoken yet is that they fear reprisals from the N.R.A. and other gun supporters - not just in the form of boycotts that could affect their bottom line, but also actions that could imperil the safety of their employees.

540 Perhaps the biggest stumbling block to an approach like this are companies like Walmart, which has huge sway over the financial industry. While Walmart stopped selling assault rifles in 2015, it might look askance at any policy by a bank issuer or credit card company to limit the kinds of products it sells.

Critics of using the finance industry to influence gun sales might argue that such a move would be discriminatory against gun retailers. But gun sellers are not a protected class, like age, race, gender, religion or even political affiliation. This would be a strictly commercial decision.

Elon Musk, for example, has no money.

He pays himself next to nothing, and is selling all of his assets (apparently). He was sued for calling a white dude living in Thailand a "pedo," and in depositions said his net worth was minimal.

He's "the richest man in the world" because he owns a large chunk of Tesla stock. That is how most rich people structure their lives. Any assets he uses are owned by one of his companies (I'm sure he has hundreds of C corps and LLCs), and not him personally. So that corporate jet belongs to TSLA shareholders, not Elon Musk.

593 Since our own party is not our own party, and is utterly feckless anyway and capable of accomplishing nothing, we are going to have to end run them and make common cause with the far left to break these tech monopolies.

If we proposed making it illegal to gather and market private information (with or without permission), or imposed some sort of punitive tax, the far left would be on board with the effort. And worse case, if the establishment left stopped them, then we create friction within the oppressor party. It would probably only take a few Republicans to be enough to make it happen.

Or, you could go the route that they have to PAY the people whose information they are selling something like 50% of the gross they make, even if they obtain permission to share it. That way, the incentive is to maximize users and (more importantly) to make customers happy enough to give their permission to share their information.

I am not a big fan of regulation, but I am even less a fan of being made a non-entity with no rights or outlets of information.

No matter what we do, it has to end with one of these corps ceasing to exist as a warning to the others.

We should go join the dems and start agitating for stripping wealth from anyone with more than 10mil and make them start defending that in the face of all those naive idiots that voted for glittery unicorns.

In fact, we should be heading to twitter and suggesting a lot of things to make the Dems start defending it. You know how they are, they don't like to be out-woked so they'll just spiral into crazy town.

As much as I have no use for the new aristocracy, I cannot support a hate tax. In fourth grade, I was in Germany, and we had a German teacher who lived thorugh the air raids of WWII. It was from her we began learning about the evils of Nazism. My fourth grade teacher, when I told her that my father was taking me to Berlin midway through the year, said she had been to Berlin and insisted that I visit what turned out to be Rainer Hildebrandt's museum at Checkpoint Charlie. Herr Hildebrandt didn't exactly look fondly upon communism.

Corporate fascism is unpleasant but not popular but if it purges the corporatism caucus from the GOP, it might not all be bad.

Corporations are not viewed by the general public as an unalloyed good thing anymore and part of the reason that Mitt lost.

Ironically, many of the old left were right about corporations while many on the right were the materialists and libertarians were basically corporation uber alles.

To me, they are no more and no less than the old landed titles of the aristocracy--a device to conserve and utilize capital to produce goods over a long period of time.

Does this happen very often? Any clue as to why?

Fuck our fiduciary responsibility to our shareholders. We're too WOKE for profits!!!

FYI, Trump (who actually won the election) won without talking a nickel from these scumbags.

717 What is a "DNS provider?"
Posted by: Question Provider at January 11, 2021 07:05 PM (M7K2y)

Should have used Domain Name Registrar instead -- any organization that is accredited by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) to register domain names under a gTLD (generic top level domain - .com/.net/.org/...).

719 > What is a "DNS provider?"

DNS is used to turn ace.mu.nu into a 4 digit IP address i.e. 192.168.0.3 which is used to locate things on the internet.

There are DNS servers all over the world, when you type an address in a browser, it looks up the IP address from the DNS server and uses it to browse the site.

Next step by the Marxists will be to pressure on service providers to remove sites from the DNS lookups so when you put a web address in, it can't find the IP address and you can't get to the site.

722 Corporations have not been able to donate to candidates since 1974. PAC's (Political Action Committees) made up of employees of a corporation may contribute, but a corporation itself is violating the long established law if it donates to a campaign of a candidate for Federal office.

727 It will truly be interesting to see if your remembering does anything but make them laugh. Republicans, for sure, and conservatives, in many ways, are just as much foot soldiers in the army of neoliberalism as the loony left. You are all so afraid of being called racist you will do almost anything except fight. You only have to watch how many comments are censored on this website while simultaneously decrying it when the left and corpos do it.
